Poor history needed more truth for the final dissapointed to say no more but Instead, the punishingly bleak sequel kills off the original's main character and turns the secondary hero into a villain. It takes violence to a level that is uncomfortable even by the standards of video games, and seemingly does everything in its power to make gamers feel bad about the act of playing it.

As I write this, the man is bragging about the *amount* of reviews on metacritic, stating it has exceeded the amount given to the previous game. It says everything you need to know about him and his philosophy - "get attention at all costs" and "no such thing as bad press".

As for the game itself, there is no game. There never was - this game, as well as the previous one, were all about the story and the characters. And since that aspect didn't just fail, but actively antagonizes and spits in the faces of both new players and old fans alike, it doesn't have any saving grace.

It's absolute garbage and the equivalent of someone taking a dump in the middle of the room.

    It's simply uncivilized.

Terrible narrative, storytelling, poor quality of joel's death we didn't even get to play as him, we didn't get to play as Tommy and we were forced to play for 8 **** hours as Abby a dislikable character who just killed the main character with a golf stick in order to understand her actions and feel sympathy for her while I don't give a **** about her and not only that but the ending is even worse while she fought her when she has lost muscle had no energy and she even removed 2 fingers of Ellie and basically losing everything while Abby got away with the kid.
The whole game was just to give the message that with vengeance won't solve everything and will hurt everyone surround you what a joke

However, that you 2/3 into the game gets stuck in what you think is a short 20 min view of the antagonist motives turn in to 11 hours and 38 minutes until I'm once again given control of our protagonist Ellie.

On the technical side, the only annoyance I've had to struggle with is some strange rubber-banding on the companions AI, where they block you from hiding or moving over certain areas unless, you walk far enough away some they are pulled to move then you can try and interact with them. The handicap options are top notch and more games should take notice on how to implement these options in their games

The constant jumping in timelines and wonky rubber-banding companion AI makes a mess of a story that was great until 2/3 in. I don't care for the antagonists motives and nothing in my 11 hours and 38 minutes changes that other than making it a grind to push thru to see the rest of Ellie's story.

In recent years, the industry has simply degraded because of such comrades, it is simply not possible to play anything. Some show off with a complete scenario of impotence and complete inaction. It is necessary to drive with the sledge rags all these creators and their defenders. Therefore, purely fundamentally put 0 points. For me, as a player with almost 30 years of experience, it is very sad to see such a strong decline in the gaming industry in recent years, but I really want to see really strong series and titles in the future. What a train wrech this was. What were they thinking? Does Niel hate this much the work of Amy Hennig this much? To literally in game spit on her characters grave? Amy Hennig deserves more respect than this. I've never seen just a ego filled creation by a guy with the biggest huberous. This is not a game. This game is such a massive shift from the first one, story wise. The storytelling, imo, is amazing. It is literally the first time any entertainment media has left me feeling so uncomfortable, conflicted and so emotionally exhausted. The gameplay is an organic evolution of the first one, adding little bits of refinement here and there. I like how they added a little bit of exploration and multiple routes to tackle an encounter. Graphically, it is one of the best looking games of this generation on any platform. Voice acting, as expected, is top notch stuff from the greatest actors in this industry. Gustavo Santaolalla yet again delivers with another masterpiece of a poignant yet beautiful score. My only gripe with the game is that it didn't give enough time to develop side characters. Overall, although poles apart from the first game thematically, The Last of Us Part 2 stands shoulder to shoulder with its predecessor as a landmark in cinematic storytelling in videogames. However, since the actual focus of the game, it's story, is so bold and divisive, I'd rate this a PlayItYourselfAndFormYourOwnOpinions/10 Expand

Killing Joel the main character of the first game is a retarded decision who every wrote this needs to be fired, the only good bites were the flashbacks. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am changing my review after thinking about this for a while. Originally I gave the game a 7/10...but upon reflection...the game is really problematic.

ND attempted to tell two stories in one game and really missed the mark on fully telling either. This game should have started off on Abby where we would hear her full story before swapping over to Ellie after Joel's death. Instead, we get to play as Ellie for half the game with no real information about Abby until the last half of the game. ND sold us an Ellie focused game, and then proceeded to make us play as Abby for 10 **** hours. I did a lot of exploring, but holy **** Abby's part was LONG. An hour or two of Abby would have told her story better than what was told in 10 hours. Editing is really important. The game tries to make Abby a character worth feeling something for, but I just wanted to get back to Ellie by the end of it. Getting back to Ellie wasn't even worth it at the end of Abby's story. Why? Because after you hear about Abby...umm...Ellie's story just stops. Legit, that's pretty much the end of the game. This whole concept of a revenge quest...and you barely get a quest for revenge. You get mostly Tommy killing people off screen and Ellie opening gates shooting the **** with Dina.

Now, let's talk about stuff that really just doesn't make sense or is completely gratuitous...I was pumped to play as Ellie and Abby. I was pumped they stuck with the lore of Ellie being gay. The relationship between Ellie and Dina is beautifully written...but...why the **** is Dina pregnant again? What does this add? All Dina being pregnant does is take your companion out of the game for hours, leaving you with no story or character development because you have no one to talk to. Dina being pregnant really feels like a cheap trick. It feels like they added it because Ellie killing Owen and Nora didn't have enough weight on its own. That scene was just being screamed at "DINA PREGNANT, NORA PREGNANT BAD ELLIE" You can do better than that.

Abby sex scene...what is the point of this? I totally get the scene between Ellie and Dina. It sets up Ellie for an innocence lost story line. More importantly, it was done tastefully. I am in no way a prude, but Abby's sex scene was the most gratuitous sex scene I have seen added to a game in a LONG **** time.

Lev...ugh Lev...What a disappointment. I am all for diversity in games. I was kind of excited that they were adding a non-binary character, because the storyline could have been ****in good. BUT...oof, it is hard to say...Lev is basically trans/non-binary...and that's the only thing compelling about the character. Diversity is good when it's done well, but when you make a character gay or trans and that is the ONLY thing present in their character, you end up harming more than you are helping.

The cult (scars)...The cult feels like ND was so afraid of offending people, they just decided to not develop any story line here. The game makes a choice to not be political, but ends up being both political and boring. I spent so much **** time looking for journal entries and notes in a desperate attempt to find a storyline. I can confirm now that one does not exist. Remember all that cool game footage of fighting scars? Yeah, that's legit all there is in the game. It's like one fight and then they are gone from Ellie's story. The scars are the focus of Abby's story...I searched for a story line there too. The story doesn't exist. You could actually just remove this group from the game and replace them with WLF and you wouldn't even feel a difference.

The ending...oof. I am ok with Ellie letting Abby go, but...why does Ellie need to lose two fingers? Why does Dina abandon Ellie? The ending really makes the story weaker as a whole, and also takes away any replay value of the game. "It can't all be for nothing" YES IT CAN. This is not an ending worthy of anything close to 10/10. The ending didn't stand up on its own due to failures in storytelling throughout the game. Ellie's loss of her fingers feels like something added as an afterthought to give it more weight than it actually has. The end didn't tie the whole "revenge is bad" thing together, so they just added another cheap trick. They basically shock jocked it. Wtf is with the Dina **** Dina is your ride or die for the entire **** game and when Ellie just wants closure, THAT is where she draws the line? Kill hundreds of people, almost die twice "yeah, bruh we good." Wants closure after years of PTSD "buh bye" WHAT?

This isn't a masterpiece. This is an unfinished game. Even the saving grace of this game -- the animations -- are unfinished. All that talk of animations...and your stealth kills ARE THE SAME EVERY TIME. It really feels unfinished. To create a game that is bleak is one thing, but to release an unfinished game that has no replay value...oof, I expected better.

Niel ruined it, Joel died for a meaningless shock value. They did terrible writing and made characters just for the hell of it.

Niel, you ruined the last of us, why did you do that?

Ellie lost her character, she did not progress, it was just a revenge story.. not like the last game where you had a game entered around the character's building up their relationship. I'm done, f this. But on a positive note, the graphics where good.
