This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Absolutely loved the game. Found myself really enjoying the story and getting immersed within the universe of The Last of Us.

Hell I even found myself kind of liking Abby by the time of Seattle day 2 of her section of the game despite what she did to Joel in the beginning - May he rest in piece :(

I truly understand and enjoyed the take Neil Druckman took on this story as making us play as the villain and understand her in the second half. Though I still hate what she did to Joel. I understand. It was a powerful move that made me angry and depressed - which is what it's supposed to do. AKA - Not **** writing as many people claim.

Overall I really enjoyed the game, it was playing with my emotions throughout my entire play through & was keeping immersed within the universe the entire time - I thoroughly enjoyed myself

10/10 - Can't understand why it's getting so much hate, I loved it. Absolutely amazing game.

I'm getting convinced that the only thing that was driving this game was all that political correctness story, nothing else.
After all this waiting - this sequel should have never happen. When playing first part - I was really trying to play in any free time, but with this sequel - I'm thinking "Ok, I have to play a bit, maybe it will finish at last".
    Bad, bad, very, very bad.
It seems that all professional critics need to be politically correct, users fortunately do not :)

From the moment I saw the trailer for The Last of us: Part II, I decided to close my eyes to as much news/leaks etc. as I could as I was a massive fan boy for Part I.

From the moment I saw the trailer for The Last of us: Part II, I decided to close my eyes to as much news/leaks etc. as I could as I was a massive fan boy for Part I.

This a good decision as I seemed to have managed to miss a lot of the developments from Part I that they had revealed in trailers and so when I was playing the game, it was full of twists and turns that I wasn't expecting.

Upon playing The Last of us: Part II, I was thoroughly enjoying the entire first 'part' of the game and then when the other character became playable, I was in two minds. Firstly, the game seemed to be trying to teach me about the 'bad guy', and secondly, I didn't care about the 'bad guys' backstory etc. as they were the villain!

After playing through the second part, when you're learning about this new character, I found myself moving my point of view, is our protagonist the villain?!

The game seemed to be full of these moments where I had to question the characters actions and try to work out who's side I was actually on!

At points, whilst learning about this new character, I felt bored and uninterested. Like I just wanted to return to the main characters story but over time, I realized why this was done this way and I could start to enjoy and appreciate the new characters back story being introducted.

In few scenes within this game, I had to pause the game, find my wife where ever she was and tell her to come and look at the game as it was absolutely breathtaking. I played through on my PS4 Pro and this game alone made that purchase worthwhile. Truely a great way to showcase what the 4 year old console is still capable of. I experienced no stutters, no visual 'glitching', nothing. Whilst the PS4 was running loud, this was easily resolved by turning the sound up a little which certainly helped with the appreciation of a fantastic score and amazing sound.

All in all, I feel that 85% of this game was absolutely a worth while extension to Ellie's story. The 15% is the left over from the feeling that I had early on in the second part where I felt, 'do I care? No!' about the new character. This was short lived and I eventually came to the conclusion that yes, yes I do care.

I would strongly recommend this to any PS4 owners that enjoyed The Last of us.

To any new players! PLEASE play The Last of us: Part I first as I feel this is essential.

This game is amazing, don’t listen to the hate. Unfortunately if you’ve seen the leaks and formed an opinion already, you will be too far gone. I loved this game. The gameplay is bigger, longer and uncut compared to the first game. The environments are huge- a lot more to explore, read all the journal entries and notes left in this beautifully detailed world to better understand characters motivations and story arcs. If you’ve played the first game there’s not much difference gameplay wise, just bigger environments and new enemy types. The environments do change the combat and stealth as there are so many more areas to hide and climb higher to get the advantage on these large groups. The sound is phenomenal, my house rattled from the intense scenes to the eerie clicks of the infected. Voice acting is second to none with naughty dogs motion capture enhancing every scene.

Story is unforgivingly savage in its decisions- whilst it can make you angry, you are supposed to feel that way. The only problem I have is the pacing between story and gameplay compared to the first game. There was enough gameplay between the story cut scenes in the first game to keep you completely invested the whole way through. Whilst I was invested in part 2, the areas are much larger now with enemies spread throughout which can really slow the motivation before the next story segment. Not to say there isn’t anything interesting in these long areas- the characters are constantly talking to each other and giving backstory as you explore. As much as the pacing was a slug sometimes- I still loved it, as there was so much to do and see that I was impressed in how much effort and love was put in this game. If you’ve managed to stay away from the spoilers and you’re trying to form an opinion on this game. Buy it and try it for yourself, you will find this game is amazing if you soak it in and take your time playing every inch of it. If you’ve seen the spoilers and jumped on the butthurt wagon....you’ve missed out on an amazing game and you have no one to blame but yourself.

Though the pacing was off I still enjoyed every second of it- it’s just not as tight as the first game. Definitely worth every penny and I applaud naughty dog for taking risks where most Game companies play it safe. I feel for everyone involved in making this game that have had people bomb the reviews over story choices.

First ever review to defend this awesome game.

Now first off I would like to say that none of the negative press, leaks, or even the opinions of others has or had an effect on how I see view this game. as side note however, while I like the first Last of Us a lot I wouldn't say it's a master piece and isn't even in my top ten favorite games so I wasn't on the hype train for this game. I only finally decided to get and play this game after a friend of mine said I could borrow his copy. It should have been a red flag for me seeing that he himself said "he was more interested in playing FF7 now" which I let him borrow from me. He's more the Last Of Us fan than I am for haven sake! Sorry for tangent. Also I will not write any spoilers for this game just because of principle so do not worry.

First off, about first 9.5 hours of this game might be the best start to any game I have played on the Ps4. Seriously it had it all; action, drama, and the feels. It was like experiencing Game of Thrones season 1 all over again. It honestly it even renewed my interest to play first game after beating this one. Also the cut-scenes and game models are truly stealer and gives me hope for what will come out of Naughty-Dog next. So your probably wondering if I had that much fun and excitement from this game up to this point why am I giving it a 3/10? Well It was at the moment that you probably already know now that is the most controversial part of this game, I mean I get why they did and why it's a bold move. Other games have done similar stuff in the past but for some reason the scene left me with nothing but rage, disappointment, and being dumbfounded at the situation of the scene itself. After that scene for me it only seemed to go downhill and was only somewhat back to sprites after a few more scenes of Ellie and her partner (fyi I'm part of the LGBT and I have no problems with LGBT characters, so no I'm not just some dummy who hates gay peolpe) but even those got dry. Than it happened the change of character, it was at this point I know I would hate this game with a passion. They tried to justify some of the choices of this said character and what she did but it only did nothing but fortify my anger and even made me feel more dumbstruck at the idea of this being game passing Naughty-Dog's quality inspection. Didn't anyone try to stop the development and go "maybe this could be done better"? Now after countless now boring repetitive fights, uninspiring missions, and character switching I finally was approaching the end of the game. Now I was going to forgive this games past sins if the ending was executed in a ways that was both fulfilling and brought this to an end with a nice bow on top. However this game found a way to both make the ending feel generic and yet so unsatisfying that even contemplated buying this copy from my friend s I can only smash it and throw it away. For real!!!! This might be the worse ending that I have experienced with a triple. Worse than Mass Effect 3 in fact! Finally after all that I was done, just me in my room seething at what I just witnessed. The cliffhanger even felt not needed at all!

With all this said and done I really can't recommend this at full price. I would say $35 is a more fitting price for a game like this. I'm more upset at the waste of potential this game could have been, I didn't even love the Last of Us and even I felt this was a poor excuse of a follow up. I now know why so many fans are angry. I guess I will take a page from my friend and play another game like Horizon Zero Dawn or something else that truly give a good female character and a good story to boot. Buy the game if you want but be warned, I'm just glad my money never went to this game.

So I boot it up and voilà, it's EVERYTHING (and then some) that people who TRIED to warn me away from it said it was. This... political statement PRETENDING to be a game will go down in history as the defining moment when the game industry (publishers, developers & game media) became a conglomerate ideology-tool for the progressive left.

    PROS:
....................................................................................................... Oh.. The graphics in general are... really good!

    CONS:
[1] The game is more interested in PUSHING the progressive left's redefinition of the word 'diverse' than it is in actually telling a compelling story.
[2] All men bad... All women good
[3] ZERO emptional stakes put forth. Not ONE. The game is as unfeeling as the idiots who made it are
[4] Try as it might it doesn't know how to deal with the MANY conundrums that coexist within the progressive left's ideology. See, in this... "game" all men bad, all women good. But... but... The... "game" also attempts to push the "more than 2 genders" narrative (ie: conundrum)
[5] In most games (even in this SJW, #Woke, #MeToo, ist-ism-obia, #RHEEEEE world we live in) the ending of a game has some sort of payoff. The "bad guy" gets his/hers #ComeUpings, There is some sort of emotional closure to the journey, something that simply says "the end", a wrong is righted... etc. SOMETHING. But here comes The Last of Us II. Nope, Nada, No. No closure, no nothing. Just one big pile of "Think like us or you're an ist-ism-obia, a russian bot or toxic.

Me getting my money back for the piece of hot garbage is out of the question so I did not even try. I'll just chalk it up to Goodbye Sony, Goodbye Naughty-Dog.

    FOR THE RECORD:
    [1] This is a real review, not a hater-bomb
[2] I have zero problems with Ellie being gay. The shill media that is spreading that fake news also knows that is not the reason why so many disliked this PoS. That said, the irony of Ellie; All-of-a-sudden; being gay in the DLC that dropped the EXACT SAME day that Ellen Page (actress that Ellie's likeness was based on) came out to the world as gay is not lost on those with an once of common sense. No, the problem(s) I had with this... "game" was the man-shaming that occurs from beginning to end of this farce. The problem I had is making me play as some GENDER-CONFUSED Whaman who LOOKS like a man and THINKS she is a man right up until it's time for her to teach all of us how much better all women are. The problem I had is the game could not go a full 30 minutes without some sort of virtue signaling.

MY SCORE: 1 - It gets at least a 1 from me for having the unmitigated gall to even release this nonsense and that I played all the way through.

This... "game" was appalling and it was a waste of my money. the ONLY bright side to this fiasco is that I have quite a few people that rely on my opinion concerning games these days and so I've saved them from purchasing this crap. Now I gotta go get ready for President Trump's Rally. Ya'll be good.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's hard to give this game a fair shake due to all the controversy, from the leaks to behavior of Sony and Naughty Dog to the blatant lying and spread of misinformation by the access media. Even some misleading information from the official trailers. That said, let's give it a shot.

Story, not a fan, there are so many problems here, let's begin.

The players that don't make it past Joel's death cannot be blamed for that, nor should they be blamed for making their reviews solely on that event alone. The set up abandoned all of Joel's character building from the first, it was disrespectful to his character and ultimately, has no payoff by the end of the game. This is the first event that literally persuades the player from not continuing the game, and it's a big one.

Next, Abby. Her character design is particularly strange. There's absolutely nothing that makes you like her and empathize with her. I hate to say she's agenda driven, but that's the only thing that seems to make sense in her design. To put it as simple as possible, she was created to kill Joel. Why anyone would expect you to like and empathize with her after that is ludicrous. She is the antagonist, plain and simple. We hate her.

So she let's Ellie survive and you spend half the game trying to get close to her again. Could feel like the whole game for some people, and this is where you meet your next big scenario that makes you want to stop playing the game for good. You finally end up in a scenario with Abby, you expect some big fight is going to happen, it's an intense moment, you don't know what's gonna happen because you don't have the upper hand and what happens??? It fades to black and suddenly your playing Abby's backstory and your first thought it WHAT THE EFF?? Second thought is, I DON'T CARE. Then you are overcome with the desire to simply quit playing.

So you somehow go through all that, you get to the end of the game hoping something will make it worth it and then comes the final slap in the face. Ellie loves playing the guitar, it's her thing, it was in her trailers and marketing and had a few special moments throughout the game. Then what happens? You fight with Abby, she effing bites your fingers off and despite her killing Joel, and all the killing Ellie had to do to even get here, she let's Abby go.

What was even the point of it all? WHAT WAS THE POINT!? Where's the payoff to killing Joel early in the story? Why make you play as Abby? She was irredeemable for anyone invested in these characters and franchise. Okay, Joel killer her father, but why did he do it? Self-defense? To protect Ellie??? Here we have a game about revenge that begins with Abby taking hers and then Ellie is like naw???? Tell me how this makes sense? Worst of all is the final salt in your wounds when Ellie can no longer play her guitar.

Atmosphere and graphics are perfectly set and gorgeous. Anyone saying this isn't one of the best looking games on PS4 would be disingenuous. The graphics don't save the game by any means, but they certainly bring the score up and that's about all I have to say on that.

Gameplay? I mean you're forced to kill a dog. That really sucks. Game loves making you do things and then feel bad for them. Plays better than it's predecessor but still gets repetitious and somewhat boring. Especially the latter half of the game because if you're still motivated to play at that point, all you want to do is get to the end.

This game was a massive disappointment primarily due to the story decisions. The story is objectively bad and it makes you feel bad for playing through it. The only thing I am personally thankful for is that I am not invested in these characters like so many others. With that said, I am still heartbroken for Joel and Ellie.

In closing, I'll say that while this game may sell well, the fans will not support a third entry. The bridge is burning and there's nothing that can be done to save it.

The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
