I really like this game. The Last of Us Part 2 broke my heart in the beginning of the story. Many players may not like the game, because it causes very negative and unpleasant emotions for example hatred, and the desire to kill some characters. But over time, the wounds begin to heal and you begin really like this game for working out the smallest details in the world of game.

Naughty Dog make the revolution in the gaming industry. Again. And it's really heartbreaking to watch rating of this game from other users! It's injustice!
I will still love the first part of game more and more, but deny that The Last of Us Part 2 is a really well-done game is a crime!

That’s life, people die, people grow up get over it. Everyone should delete the mentality that Ellie is going to act like a child when she is clearly an adult now, and that you should be able to bond with another character (Abby) because the world doesn’t revolve around Ellie and Joel sorry. I really liked the skirmish between the 2 and I was really enjoying the downfall of both characters, this game feels real to me and if you honestly didn’t feel any sympathy for Abby after losing her friends and/or seeing her at the end, then you’re just mad to be mad, get over it everyone gets what they deserve at the end. The visuals were stunning, everything about this game was awesome for me and I am glad I didn’t listen to others to shape my own opinion about this game, I took my time playing and enjoying everything about the game. Upgrading guns was awesome and collecting the cards was my favorite thing to collect in any game. Thank you for such an awesome game I really had fun and I’m looking forward to a DLC maybe for Abby and a multiplayer version! Expand

This game is simply a masterpiece in every aspect of its design, and while the story is controversial I appreciated that Naughty Dog took brave risks to craft a raw, emotional and human story. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to play as Ellie again through terrifying stealth sections and experience this game's breathtaking spectacle.

Hoes mad indeed. There is no inconsistency with the characters like people are claiming, and the story does make sense. Game play is the same as Part 1, but better.
The hate circle jerk will die out soon enough and people will realize how good it REALLY is

This game is beautiful in its entirety. I’ve heard complaints that the story doesn’t *feel* like a Last of Us title, mostly from people I know haven’t actually played the game, so if you’re basing your decision to play the game solely listening to the negativity then I beg you to reconsider because I have played this game and it feels like The Last of Us to me. I was as emotionally invested in this story as I was for the first game. You can go from hating to loving a character as you progress through the narrative that by the end you want everyone to just live. I’ve heard complaints about the ending as well, and all I have to say on that front is that I cried, and I like to consider that a job well done. Go experience this game, because while the story is so different from The Last of Us, the Last of Us Part II has a wonderful story to tell all the same. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Many of the still negative reviews are based on people who have barely played the game, or barely understood the deeper meanings of the game. Its definitely divisive and not for everyone, but sometimes for the wrong reasons. That said, I'm gonna get right into it. Joel Miller. He lost his daughter Sarah right at the start of the outbreak, and got separated from his brother Tommy. This would be Joel's entire world coming crashing down on him. For 20 years, he dealt in the Black Market, killed a lot of people and infected to survive. Probably done worse. Then he meets Tess. Tess probably would've been able to make Joel feel some degree of normalcy again. Maybe he would've had another kid. But Tess got bit and she passed, shortly after Joel met our favorite snarky and bratty teen, Ellie. They hated each other at first, man. Ellie would never listen to him, and she had such a mouth! It was hilarious at times. Joel got sick and was injured on top of it. Ellie had to go find medicine for him. After a while Joel started to get attached to her like she was his own daughter. Maybe he was finally able to move on from Sarah's death. Now we fast forward, and The Fireflies have realized how they can develop a vaccine (This is already point #1 and 2. A lot of it has to do with Spores, which is in the *air*, like a regular virus or infection.) using Ellie's mutated cordyceps growth. The only catch, is they'd have to kill her to remove it. Joel hears this and he is definitely not having it. This girl just made Joel start to be human again. Slowly getting rid of that hardened survivor exterior. He has a little girl to love again. He won't let anyone take that away from him, and even if it meant only being able to spend more time with her, he doesn't care about keeping the truth from her. Its a horrible, terrible, selfish act of love that anyone normal would find trouble parsing the morality of. This is what The Last of Us and Part II are all about. Not the black, and not the white. The GREY. Joel kills Dr. Jerry Anderson, Abby's father. He didn't have to. He could have knocked him out, maybe shot him in the legs. But he wasn't taking the chance of being chased. Joel even then kills Marlene, essentially Ellie's caretaker/surrogate mother. Joel tells Ellie her immunity had no purpose, that it meant nothing, because there are other immune people. Dozens, he says. This is another lie, of course. I love Joel, but that was all messed up. Fast forward to Joel and Ellie settling down in their new life in Jackson, Wyoming. Tommy and Joel specifically have fought barely any infected the past nearly 5 years, never mind people, sometimes only running into 1 or 2, or not even any at all. Imagine how much more relaxing their life is. Jackson has a welcoming policy when it comes to stragglers/strangers, and allowing them in the city. Thats why Joel saves Abby without a second thought and trusts her. Even going through Joel's house, HIS HOME, you can see how he has changed. He plays guitar on his porch at night, enjoying the peace. He woodcarves. He has a little picture of himself that Ellie drew for him. And its FRAMED! Joel got his life back, man! So before judging Joel's character simply because he "lets his guard down"....think of how his humanity has returned to him...! Joel over these years slowly got rid of the "everyone is an enemy" survivor mentality. This game is NOT a revenge story! Its ALSO a story about love, empathy, forgiveness and redemption. The reason we don't play as Abby first, or see her story first, is to show us a preview of what Ellie could and does become, going down the same path that Abby did. Showing us the cost and what it takes, what you lose in a quest for revenge. Ellie's journey sparked from her love for Joel, and Abby's for her love for her dad. There are so many layers to this story overall (part 1 and part 2 both) that its nearly impossible to address it all. Whether you enjoy this story hinges on whether you can understand Joel's death and Abby and move past protagonist bias, which is why its so important to address it. Abby's side of the story is about how her revenge has affected her, and what she finds to forgive herself and redeem herself, in caring for and protecting Lev and (to a tragic extent) Yara. At the end, Abby carries Lev away...just like Joel carried Ellie away. Ellie sees this and realizes what SHE has also lost. After fighting Abby she remembers her last night with Joel, and how she never got the chance to FORGIVE HIM, and can't forgive *herself*. Ellie might have never been able to forgive Joel. But she was willing to try. Abby might never forgive Ellie for Owen, Mel, and her other friends, but she was willing to try. Sparing her THREE TIMES! There's so much. It might be a bit messy, but I hope this gets the points across. Maybe this was more critical than I expected! Open your mind! Because I don't think any game should get a perfect 10, The Last of Us Part II gets a 9/10 from me. Expand

The ending is also very good. there ate subtle hints throughout the story and when they all come together they reveal a second emotional layer to the game, f. e. in the beginning Joel sings: "if I ever were to lose you, I'd surely lose myself". This accurately depicts the whole story. The gameplay is smooth and has improved so much from the first game, the graphics are also amazing. Expand

But the fact that the game forces you to play with a character other than Ellie or Joel is a joke.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. One of the most beautiful and well done games. It's a masterpiece that maybe all the people will comprehend when they grow up. We have the right to not like something, but giving a score of zero to a game it's immature as hell!

And guys, let's accept the inclusion, humanization and deaths. So let me explain the most controversial. Guys, Joel's death was necessary for: (1) Ellie to seek revenge. She would need something very strong for that and something that we can connect, just to be shown that if we are mad, we are wrong too in the end. And ellie realizes this, why can't you? (2) For the moral of the story to say that revenge is bad and does not pay (3) To understand that everything in life has two sides. We hate abby but when we see her side, we can then know her motivation. Maybe at the death moment we are lost but until the game ends, we understand the entire situation. Guys, If you read game of thrones you will die hahaha
I agree that his death scene could be better written because joel is very suspicious, especially with strangers, how come he fell so easily in this trap? I think it should have been written better and they had the capacity for it, because the rest of the game is incredible and well done. But life is like that isn't it? We can't predict everything, so as Joel. But going all over the internet saying that the whole game is bad, is total **** disregard and blindness. The game is perfect, have stunning graphics and the better of the generation. Going back to the story: The game it's not about heroes like an avengers movie, it's about human beings trying to survive and live in a world that is totally different from ours. The game humanizes situations and shows how fragile we are. Can you imagine living in a world like that? In a blink of an eye you can die there. Games like that need immersion people, it is not a game to shoot around enemies and score points, It's a game to stop to absorb the story and think, and consecutively grow and value what you have and what you can lose. Ellie had the opportunity to sorry joel but she can't anymore, and that is a life lesson. If you want abby to die because they killed your favorite character, then you don't have understand neither the first game.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Don’t listen to the brigaders. As someone who has actually played and finished the game, I can tell you that in no way is it deserving of the hate and zeroes it is receiving. Though it could not have succeeded without the world/character building of the first game, I thoroughly enjoyed it more. For me, I went in with all the spoilers. I knew Joel would die. I knew I’d play as Abby for 10+ hours. I knew Ellie wouldn’t kill her at the end. I went in ready for this game to be flaming garbage. I went in hating Abby. By the time I finished her first day, I could already feel myself warming up to her. And I really didn’t want to. But that’s the point. That’s the execution that Naught Dog excelled at: Making the player realize that this situation isn’t black and white. Nobody is really a villain. I can’t hate Joel for dooming the world because he did it to protect Ellie. I can’t hate Ellie for killing all of Abby’s friends because she killed Joel. And I can’t hate Abby because she is a reflection of both of them. Like Ellie, she sought revenge after the death of her father. And like Joel, she redeems herself as a person and finds love and healing in a younger counterpart that she learns to care for. As for the ending, I can’t imagine someone playing through this entire game and still wanting to kill Abby. If that’s what you drew from this experience, you missed it by a longshot. I found myself repulsed during both of Abby and Ellie’s fights, wanting to let them both go. I cared for both of the characters, and it wasn’t easy to fight them. This game makes you feel how revenge poisons character. It’s beautiful. And for those who disagree with Ellie’s final decision, I’ll say it again, you missed the point. The point is forgiveness. This game is trying to teach you that forgiveness is so much harder and painful than revenge. This game drives that point home hard. And I loved every second of it. Expand
