This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I finished the game today (06/26) and cried a lot, not because of the story but because I waited six years for it and remembered how happy I was when I saw the trailer at E3. Well the first thing that frustrated me was the level designs. In the world of The Last of Us Naughty Dog showed us that unforeseen events happen, after all the world is in pieces, buildings fall, few resources but as a player, I felt that they happened a lot to increase the gameplay time in TLOU 2, for me this was very clear and they didn't need to extend the game like that. I would prefer to see how Joel got so different from what was shown in TLOU 1. To summarize a little, I felt that I did not know the new Joel and did not know what made him let his guard down for strangers who were close to Jackson. I agree with his death and I believe that it really gave meaning to part two, after all, he killed and destroyed several groups on his journey with Ellie, but he was not even cautious with those people he met (Abby's group) and it broke my experience. Moving forward, I felt very tired with the gameplay of the game, in many ways the gameplay from the first to the second is improved, the crawling part is very interesting and matches well with the style of the game, the player sees each object being placed in Ellie or Abby's backpack and despite being a small detail, they make the game look real. However, I spent hours going through infected, scars, and WLF without feeling the reasons to do that mainly in Abbie's gameplay, the island part of the scars was a deplorable example of that, and the part that Ellie went after Abby. Honestly, I didn't want either of them to die, despite having to make a big effort to like Abby's plot since he was depicted without emotion by the scenes and art direction. I really loved the fact that Ellie and Abby had mirrored sufferings, that would be much more interesting if the deaths of the loved ones were portrayed with impact by the writers. The Last of Us Part II has an identity crisis, tiresome gameplay for the game itself to make the player go from side to side to have more hours of gameplay. However, the plot itself is extremely dense and interesting, but for me, the way the situations were put together was confusing, with no impact when they should have and badly developed characters emotionally. The Gameplay stays true and expands greatly and impressively upon the masterpiece that is the original. Unfortunately this series is built on its story and the story of part 2 falls flat on its face as characters do not represent themselves accurately. This game is supposed to be built on revenge yet all the game ever discusses in its story is romance between the two female characters. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’ve been seeing all of the hate for this game and I frankly think that it is a large overreaction and partially a bandwagon. That’s why I made an account on here just to speak my mind. The preface this, I have played the Last of Us 8 times over the past 5 years. The moment I grabbed a PS4 I hopped on this game and it was a very moving point in my gaming. I consider it my favorite single player story driven game of all time. So to address the elephant in the room, I’ve seen plenty of reviews and memes on the “monstrosity” “dumpster fire” and “complete disappointment” that is TLOU2. That is simply not true. So from the beginning of this game, I had seen the reviews and I thought I was walking into a disaster of a game. I had briefly seen the leaks beforehand, mostly including Joel’s death, but I assumed that there was some major glitches or a completely horrible story that would outrage people. I played through the first few chapters and I was dumbstruck as to why people would think this game is bad. For someone who put so much time into the first game, the scenery, improved gameplay, and immersive story was a breath of fresh air and a great addition to the first game. The scenery: gorgeous landscapes, impressive graphics, the character mapping was pretty accurate, and the detail put into even the disgusting infected.

Improved gameplay: They’ve improved on almost every level here. New craftables, new unlockable perks and weapon upgrades, a new hand to hand combat system so that clickers aren’t an unbearable rage inducing thing, and PRONE. The stealth in this game has gotten a lot more immersive as you’re hunted by dogs and any wrong move makes you instantly regret it. Immersive story *SPOILER*: The early death of Joel and the moral grey area that the game gives you halfway through when you start playing as Abby is such an eye opener on the good that the WLF actually does, and it makes you feel justified regret over the killing spree you go on in the first game.

To top this all off, the alleged LGBT views being “shoved down your throat” is completely appalling. People are gay. It’s a thing. People have an issue saying that being gay is Ellie’s entire personality, which is untrue. I see her as much more of a hurt badass killing machine that sees the error of her ways after doing it. All in all, it did not make me feel quite as involved as the first game, but the scores it had been getting are ridiculous and unjust.

The game isn’t bad, it’s actually quite good, people just have a hard time thinking for themselves. A lot of reviews I’ve seen are from people who have also just watched the game on YouTube or Twitch. You have no right to rate the game until you’re the one that presses square to beat Nora’s head in.

Ok I watch a lot of critics saying that play with the character that kills “you know who” its detestable but it’s really a need of the game at least me, when Abby is kicking in the ass Ellie I felt bad (obviously) but then when Ellie is kicking and almost killing Abby I also feel bad because know we know the reasons why she killed “you know who” and we see how she also has lost people at cause of Ellie and if you see Ellie killed more people than Abby. Also it’s almost the same story of the las of us part 1 you go through half of U.S.A for nothing at the end. Abby is a big character, at the end we know what she’s been through and how that affect her. Yes of course we love Ellie because we’ve been with her since first game but Abby have a lot of history at first obviously I hate her with all my soul but at the end I didn’t want her to suffer. I think this game have a great end, a great history, great graphics, it’s great in everything, my score is a 11/10 Expand

I greatly enjoyed the game throughout and the graphics were amazing, however I feel that there was a few points it was lacking as it would have been much better to give you the option to kill Abby or not and I feel that they forced us to do the worse option of the two, other than that Joel's death cause which everyone is complaining about was expected, although people may not like the way that he died I feel that it conveyed the emotion of his death well, I can see why people are upset about it but it's sad to see him go Expand

The second part.. is just all over the place.. only for one brief time i just wanted to know why Abby killed Joel.. once that was revealed... The emotional rollercoaster started in the game.
I don't why this game feels like really bad movie.. or the walking dead series at the later seasons.. it is too long and too damn predictable. The story does not makes any sense.. as a player i don't feel connected to any character infact to Ellie as well. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm a person who hates spoilers so did not do my job evaluating purchasing this game and bought based on love of the first game. *********

Please read some reviews like Kotaku's where they have the guts to tell you the truth and not Naughty Dog lies. You only play as Ellie for half the game and the other 12 hours as the villian. So stupid to do with a beloved character like Ellie. This trick might work with a new IP but not for a sequel of a beloved game. I also just replayed the first game and left behind dlc right before this. I loved the first 12 hours with Ellie getting revenge but losing a bit of herself with each kill. Watching her get consumed by revenge and hoping for her to change and accept it. To walk away and live her life.

Then the game does a 180 and makes you play as the villian right after she murders one of you friends. I could not continue and only made it ten minutes making her die over and over again. I looked to see how long her segment was going to be. Thinking that I would be okay with a level or 2 but it's literally the second half the game, another 12 hours! Will not finish this game. I don't want to play as this character I want to kill and be forced to actively hunt down the Ellie.

Yeah I know they want to make a statement about how no one is truely evil and the backgrounds sort of mirror each other but not at the expense of a character I have spent over 60 hours protecting and another 20 hours playing as. Do this BS with new characters in the same world and it may have worked.

The las of us Parte 2 Es el juego del año.
