    It's an okay game the game play, graphics etc are good but the story is just straight up awful. You will be disappointed if you played the last of us 1 before.

    The Last of Us 2 is a technical marvel. Smooth controls, many ways to dispatch your enemies and gorgeous settings. I really like the huge boss fight under the hospital. Best fight in the series. I do agree that the story was lacking in clarity. I think the sequences should have been placed differently to provide more background to the story in smoother transitions. -1 for that.

    Honestly, this game is really good. I think a lot of people are missing the point of what the story is trying to say. You don't have to like every character in the story. In fact you shouldn't, as most if not all have done things that are terrible. This game really delves into the ripple effects that started in the first game. It still builds on that relationship we loved from the firstHonestly, this game is really good. I think a lot of people are missing the point of what the story is trying to say. It's okay to be uncomfortable with different situations and storylines, but if you can get past your preconceived notions of characters, i think you will see a very deep and emotional story that makes you think.

    Also, I must note that the story length is fantastic. You get plenty of game time for the price you pay.

I may need to do some growing mentally but I don’t think a women can have a body like that but maybe I’m wrong. Anyway this is how good the story telling is. I went from loathing this person throughout this game and wanting her dead to having a complete change of heart by the end of the game. Don’t think I’ve ever experienced that in a game. Now for my rant. **** these dumb ass losers who are so whining about a supposed “SJW” narrative that in no way is present. I think if anything Neil ****ed up by portraying a strong woman as a man and should get backlash by women instead of these **** ass dudes that are so but hurt because they couldn’t play as Joel? Get the **** over it!!! Loss is a part of life, and it’s the reason the journey even happens. Play the game don’t listen to these morons. Absolutely heartbreaking to see one of the most beloved characters in gaming ever be so brutally, unnaturally, unfairly and unjustly tortured and murdered simply so the game can fit a **** agenda that had nothing to do here; I respected the LGBT parts of the first game because they were so seamless and natural. They didn't play an integral role for the characters, the same way "being gay" or similar shouldn't be a single defining trait of a real person. In part 2, however, just about everyone is part of some alternative group, be it LGBT or a minority group. There's nothing wrong with being part of these groups, it's simply so overstated and extreme that it makes no sense. And this is ignoring the otherwise jumbled mess of a story with way too many characters that nobody cares about and overall messy story. It just seems to me that Naughty Dog chose to ignore everything the fans love about their games to fit an agenda. Therefore I am giving this a 0/10 in hopes of the score ending up low enough that Naughty Dog decides to redo the game in a way that the fans would like. There is also a petition on Change going on right now, so if you too wanna see change then go ahead and sign that. Expand

    Tonight I played TLOU2... exciting game! I think the rating on Metacritic and other sites is not high 'cause real game does not meet expectation of the part of gamers. Here is detailed thoughts about it...
    There are literary works that must be read, such as «Philosophy in the Boudoir» by Marquis de Sade. It instantly catches the attention of a lay reader with the pornographic scenes. That means that most of the readers can't see any background philosophy in this masterpiece. If you are an experienced reader - you know that all the pornographic scenes just should be faded and focus goes on the dialogues between them.
    This principle also works for TLOU2... atmosphere, entourage, gameplay and sexual orientation of heroes are not the target TLOU2. There should be a main question: what is it all about? In my opinion it is about different things with similar ways. Overcoming internal contradictions that goes against the nature of the main characters unites them.
    There are 2 heroines ... Abby was obsessed with revenge and had killed person who was close to Ellie. Abby had a deep hope that after the act of revenge she would feel peace in her soul ... but this never happened. After the murder of Joel, Ellie becomes obsessed with revenge. We observe how does she follow the same way (actually). Conventional wisdom slowly prevails ... and now Abby realizes that the endless series of revenges and deaths must be interrupted, that is why she lets go of Dina and Ellie. Ellie stays «one step behind» with problem understanding. Her desire to take revenge still did not go completely. Finally, she also finds the internal strength to stop killing. In last scenes, both heroines are devastated and crippled in their souls. Heroines disappear ... and obviously they will seek for the strength inside themselves to live.

    What will TLOU3 looks like (sooner or later it will definitely come out)... I see 4 ways for Ellie:
    1) She will live the hermit life (but you can’t create a game with it);
    2) In the last scene, our attention is focused on the «Cicad» symbol. Perhaps now Ellie (who is now left alone) sees her mission in finding them and sacrificing herself for the salvation of humanity for the second time;
    3) A pregnant girl in a gas mask was depicted on the TLOU poster in Uncharted 4. Perhaps it was Ellie ... in this case, the child can make sense of her life, especially since in the game we saw how her attitude towards children changes: at first they annoy her (her and Dina’s dialogue at the very beginning in front of the stage snowball games) and then, she quite joyfully plays with Dina’s child, so that anything can happen;
    4) She will meet again with Abby and «the two loneliness will find each other» (but this, in my opinion, is too primitive).

    Now about the opinions of other people ...
    Many playlists say that the actions of the main characters are not logical ... so the actions of any person who is blinded by revenge lie outside standard logic.
    As for the dull and monotonous gameplay - I agree. But in my opinion, developers have an excuse: no one has ever made games with such a multi-level narrative design. Moreover, I believe that what Drakhman conceived cannot be fully embodied in the game. It's like with a puppet theater: can a doll play all the roles? Akella from Mowgli - yes, because it's just only image. But can marionette play the role of the White Fang by Jack London? No ... because White Fang is a character. Conceived by Drakman is not suitable for the game. Only a book can perform such a depth of design.

    My opinion: the game deserves a rating of 8/10.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let's not overly stretch this review. The last of us part II is a MASTERPIECE. Not a rare but a UNIQUE gem in the gaming industry.
    VISUALS/GRAPHICS: 9.8/10
    The visuals, and the overall technical realisation of the game is nearly perfect, except for the fire visuals and effects that are clearly limited by this console's generation's problems. There are some little glitches all over the game but they are almost meaningless.
    GAMEPLAY/ANIMATIONS: 9.8/10
    The gameplay is renewed and restyled but clearly inspired by the first chapter's fundamentals. It betters every single aspect of it and adds new mechanics that keep the game's overall style. The playable maps are enormous and almost completely explorable, filled with curiosities, touching and heartbreaking side stories and collectibles so detailed only Naughty Dog could bless us with. The combat sequences are extremely satisfying, flexible and realistic, as you can reestablish a stealthy profile by running into the grass and keeping a prone position. The A.I., especially the humans enemies' sets new standards for the whole industry, enemies can flank you, easily overwhelm you and engage a hard melee fight with you. They all have names and they can get angrier if you kill their friends or their dogs, the new type of enemy, extremely sensible to every noise and smell. Killing enemies in The last of us part II is not an easy decision. Enemies will scream painfully or angrily, dogs will mourn their owners and whimper if hit. The infected enemies are of course less intelligent than humans but overall more dangerous and renewed. Runners are now more aggressive and overwhelming, stalkers are terrifying and extremely deadly when it comes to a close combat with them. Clickers can easily spot any noise you produce and quickly kill your character. The new shamblers are extremely dangerous as they are die hard, violent monsters that are able to eject burning spores that can sometimes trap you in a corner, hopeless. The bloaters are way more difficult and violent in this game and will cause you a lot of problems. The new Rat King is surely the most challenging boss fight of the whole series THEIR huge bloater body eject some sort of stalkers also stronger and more dangerous. Furthermore the two characters have different weapons and abilities that can be used and improved. I noticed the falling animation was a little less taken care of, almost unsatisfying.
    STORY MODE AND PLOT: 9.5/10
    The story mode is devastating, moving and grounded. The plot twists are incredibly well played and empowered by the incredible acting of the characters' mo-cap actors. Joel's death is the consequence of his actions. Because nobody is a 'good guy' in the universe of The last of us, as Tess reminded Joel in the first game before her death,-We're sh*tty people Joel-. Abby had the complicated burden of justifying her terrible actions throughout the game and she partially did. Naughty Dog make us live her human relationship with the characters we previously saw involved in a terrible action of revenge. And more, not only is Abby Joel's killer, but we find out she is way more similar to him than she and we know. She is more brutal than Ellie, like Joel, and with her action she provoked an unstoppable intercourse of events that brought her down, just like Joel. Just like Joel she finds herself with a human relationship with the boy Lev. But we never forget our true reasons and Ellie, the actual protagonist of the game is focused on her goal. She eventually understands that killing Abby won't bring back Joel and in a touching final scene she lets her enemy go, with the boy she previously saved. Abby lost everything she loved because of her lust for revenge and Ellie proves to be a better human being than her. She then realizes how her revenge obsession brought away the good things she had left. Dina and her son, her mother's knife, the guitar fingers.
    SOUNDTRACK: 9.5/10
    The soundtrack is easily on an upper level and Gustavo Santaolalla demonstrates his talent with tracks that can make your emotions already simulated by the cutscenes even more intense, even though I feel like the first game's songs are slightly more inspired.
    IMPERFECTIONS SUMMARIZED:
    Nothing is perfect, and The last of us makes no exception. Some parts of the plot seem to be stretching the game a little bit, for example the still beautiful but slightly unnecessary gameplay sequence during the war between the WLF militia and the Seraphites cult. Some animations are still a bit rough, like the falling animation that can be revisited and there are some little graphic glitches, some textures disappearing when you're looking at them in certain spots, the fire effects and visuals seem a bit 'old', though these little problems don't ruin the experience.
    As I said, nothing is perfect, neither is The last of us part II, but let me state it goes pretty damn close to perfection.
    A must have, generation defining game. Incredible. 10/10

    Pretty Disappointed

    As beautiful a canvas as you could ever want. Still love the gameplay and mechanics. It's just a flawed, headscratching story with flat and poorly developed characters. The characters we knew and loved are abused and worse by Naughty Dog and the fans are slapped in the face repeatedly. The first game was a lot to live up to and, well: "they made a sequel; it wasn't as good."

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
