Characters make this game, it always has. Joel’s grumpy, yet wise character contrasted really well with Ellie’s wide-eyed childlike wonder. Given that Joel perished in the first 30 minutes of playing, he is replaced by a plethora of new companions to Ellie, and new characters in alt-stories. Abby, Dina, Tommy, Jesse, etc. While they are all fun in their own way, they don’t have a good enough personality in contrast to Ellie, to carry a meaningful relationship to the player. They are all just bland, and derivative of many other characters in other games. Despite this major problem, The Last of Us Part II is fun, with a multitude of environments and a emphasis on exploration. But still a linear story to keep control of the player. It is also incredibly well designed. With all-new mechanics, collectibles and enemies to gawk at, just as I did. You may just be in for the story, or the collectibles, or even just trying this out. You will find this game offers many hours of fun for you all.

It’s really good. I avoided most of the discussion surrounding the story once it leaked so I could experience it on my own and I have to say, I don’t understand what everyone’s upset about. I get that people don’t want politics shoehorned into their games, but if it doesn’t affect the gameplay what does it matter? Aside from the mention of a “bigot-sandwich” in the very beginning, the romance flows quite well with the story. And the story is good on it’s own. Honestly, I don’t get what the fuss is about. The only downside to the game is that, aside from a few new features, the game is functionally identical to the first one, which is great if you enjoy the first one like I do, but still disappointing when compared to the “gameplay footage” shown at E3 a few years ago. The game is good. If you like the first one you’ll like this one, well worth the money I spent on it. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I get people are mad about some choices in the story, but negatively bombing the reviews on Metacritic is just silly. Why give the game a 1 out of 10, while the game is great! It looks stunning, combat is great and responsive, I love the way you get extra skills and unlock more branches as you go by finding books and exploring the map is just plain fun. The only thing I dislike is your follower standing in the way sometimes. I think I’ve played around 6 hours now. 90% of reviews were made without even playing the game. People are just too stupid to get their own opinion about it, so they board the easy hype train and write a negative review without playing it at all. Well, play it yourself to find out if you like it or not. Don’t just negatively review something you haven’t even laid your hands on yet! Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The game is superb! Stop listening to these kids giving a rating based mostly on the leaks. Yes, Ellie is gay (so what?), that chick who killed Joel has muscles (so what?), the game is very brutal and graphic (that's why the 18+ rating), and yes the story is not as strong as the first one but it's a great story still. I actually liked the Abby gameplay and story, especially the second part of it.
Btw, Abby is not trans. In the flashbacks, she is the daughter of the doctor that was supposed to extract the cure from Ellie. This proves once again the people just want this game to fail based on their beliefs and other crap.
For me, Part 2 is a worthy sequel and the story got me emotionally invested.
To explain my rating, I am giving the gameplay and technical stuff a 10 and the story an 8.5. If you are a mature and reasonable person you will like this game a lot!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I Can't understand why this game is getting user bombed so hard. With 4 times more reviews than the first one ever got, you just know it's wrong.

The game is great. I'm not a reviewer but wanted to offer my 10 cents into whatever is happening here. The story is bleak, often very harrowing and sometimes hard to go through. I have been loving the small element of exploration too.

When Joel died I can't say I was expecting it (as naive as I am) to happen so soon. It sets up a great story and playing as Abby too made it more difficult for me to side with anyone. It didn't take me long to realise that there are no real heroes or villains in the game, just life and death. I highly recommend playing this before reading anything that deliberate trollers have to say,. Yeah the game might not be for everyone but there is not a game in the world that deserves the lowest score.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'll start with the two easy categories that I shouldn't need to explain... Spoilers ahead. Sound: 10/10. Best of PS4 IMO
Graphics: 10/10. Best of PS4 IMO

Now for the controversial aspects... Gameplay: 9/10

A lot of you talk about how this only had minor improvements over TLOU1. I ask you, nay plead with you, to watch Voyager's TLOU2 brutal combat video. If you are good at the game and tweak the settings to your liking, you can have a hell of a good time every minute of combat. Do it. Your jaw will drop. Story: 8/10
I actually really loved this emotional roller coaster ride. Yes, even the ending. Certain points in the story will make you upset, and that was the director's intention. You are supposed to be mad. I don't mind Joel getting done dirty. He massacred the fireflies... it's only reasonable that they would have their revenge at the first opportunity and it not need to be built-up. That's not how life works, people. Stuff just happens that we wish didn't happen in life and I like the game's brutal reminder of that. I'm docking the story one point because I don't quite buy Joel stating his name to business. Maybe if the game showed his five years in a safe town (even older now) as a means to soften his character, then maybe... But they should have given us more to fuel that logic. I've docked it another full point for two reasons in one: because there definitely was a bit of pandering. I don't mind inclusion at all! Some stuff was just too on-the-nose for my liking. I'm not actually referring to Abby, but Lev's arc. I actually did like Abby. She grew on me! She's very easy to initially view as ugly--- inside and out - - - (her hatred conveyed through her expressions... I'm not talking about her resting physical appearance). Also the sex scene wasn't necessary simply because I doubt they'd have made such a scene with a more... "conventionally attractive" person. It kind of felt like they were saying "Look at this! You SHOULD think this is beautiful.". I don't know what else to say besides it just felt forced. I got over it, though. I was considering docking this section a third point because I was having a hard time buying that Ellie would leave after killing Mel and Owen. But then I thought about it... she was in shock and traumatized after crossing such a huge moral line, regardless of intention. But then as we found out, Abby wasn't there yet anyway so they may have looked around for her for hours and realized she was gone. I was considering giving the story a 7/10, but I just thought the story was such an emotional roller coaster (that I mostly thoroughly enjoyed) that I can't in good conscience score it a 7/10. It's an 8/10 for these creative choices they took. If they handled Joel's death better and cooled it with the on the nose pandering, I would have given it a 10.

I, for one, absolutely loved how it ended. I don't mind the choice Ellie made. I understand why she made it. I understand it because I played the game thoroughly and I understood Abby's motivations. To sum the two games. TLOU1:
The main character travels far and wide to accomplish their goal, and intimately "makes the wrong decision" by changing their mind... For personal reasons.

TLOU2: The main character travels far and wide to accomplish their goal, and intimately "makes the wrong decision" by changing their mind... For personal reasons. Thanks everyone!

The game makes you mad when Joel dies and it is how they want you to be when you play the rest of the game: "MAD". Yes it sucks that you can't play him and a lot of the frustrations comes from the fact that there is no revenge. Ellie realises when fighting her that she doesn't feel better hurting her so she let her go... That sucks but that's how she feels and killing Abby would only make you more happy but probably not Ellie.

I agree with the critique of the supporting characters being too flat, but Ellies story of revenge and the exploration of her rage still makes the story interesting to me. And even if I didn’t find it interesting, there’s simply no way it’s a 0. Giving a 0 is acting on pure initial emotion without actually reflecting on the purpose of why this story is told as it is. It is a childish reaction.

And then there’s the next level graphics, and incredibly intense gameplay which alone makes this game a 6/10. I agree that the story should be the main focus for a TLOU game, and that is also why I’m not at 10/10, since the story of the first game was better without a doubt - and probably something that will never be achieved in a video game again.

But giving it a zero is like a 2-year old throwing their plate of vegetables on the ground and yelling “I don’t like it!”. Please people, can we have some perspective...

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. At the start, this game fascinated me with its big settings, where you can change almost everything that can help you play the game as you would love.

For example Colorblind mode, Difficulty mode (You can change various things like how much loot can drop, how much damage you can retrieve, and various things related to difficulty).

By the start of TLOU II (Part 2), you jump into the story of Joel where is he telling his brother Tommy what happened at the end of TLOU I (Part 1).

The story jumps into body of Abby a character that most people wouldn't like after playing the game around for 2 hours in-game, and the true reason is that she killed Joel.

Her reason to kill Joel was that he saved Fireflies from making the cure and killing the doctors. Her revenge ends with hitting Joel with golf stick in the head, it was really dramatic by seeing Joel die like that, plus Ellie was there and Tommy too..

After this.. Ellie decides to go on her quest to take revenge on all the members that were during the death of Joel. And Tommy decides to go too but leaves without Ellie... The story is about following the lead of Tommy killing other people and engaging into this dramatic brutalistic masterpiece.

Lastly, I would like to point out how brutalistic this game is.. Naughty Dog Developer's decided to add dog's into this masterpiece, it is truly a pain to see the dogs die to Dog lovers.

Naughty Dog hit it out of the park. The Last of Us part 2 is a phenomenal game in nearly all aspects including storytelling, gameplay and graphics
