This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I just finished this game, half a year after it was released. I am very glad that I managed to avoid all spoilers and was able to fall in love with the game in its original form. I was very surprised that the Last of Us tell a story not only about revenge, but also about love, the relationship of fathers and children, a sense of regret. The way Ellie has gone simply cannot be conveyed, as from a small, simple girl who turned into a ruthless military school, to evaluate her own actions due to the fact that, by the way, she loses her family and friends. Abby, on the contrary, from the most bad character, is revealed in a completely different way, she is kind, responsive and very loyal. Her devotion is revealed well that morning when she goes to help young children. And at the end of the game, I didn't want any of the heroines to die Expand

Is the most beautiful game i've ever played in terms of visuals, one of the best animations i've seen on a screen in a video game, about acting, body and face animations is just a 10/10 and after you play this game seems like other developers are not even trying at this point honestly just to play the game for those things and visuals is already worth it. The story in order to get it you really need to be open minded about it and not to lose your shi* after the first 1 hour or so in the game. The story is just memoreable a story that you will not forget any time soon, very emotinal, but very rough and depressing and i get it the story is not for everyone you will need to have some gut to finish the game but all and all i simply loved it i think that this game is the only game that made me think over the story even 1 or 2 weeks after i finished it. The game is just dripping with atmosphere one of the most atmospheric game i have ever played purely outstanding. The combat is so fun, satisfying and intense and it has the best stealth combat i have seen in a video game and the atmosphere makes it that way. Aaaand the wolrd...is just too beautiful...with tons and tons, and i mean it, of details is just amazing. I really think that this game is a masterpiece and is so sad that some people rated this with a 0...this game just don't deserve this...ok i get it you dont like the story but how the hell you rate 0/10 a game whith a quality like this really now..Recommend this game at any time 10/10! The Last of Us Part II is a masterpiece, even if all the pain towards our favorite characters bothered me the game manages to bring out emotions that you would not feel in any other existing video game, it goes from moments of happiness to moments of pain pure. Well what about a pure masterpiece I hope this team never stops producing these fantastic and inimitable video games. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let's face it. There are no AAA-developed games under a 5.0. In the first place, it's amazing that any bit of code touched by hundreds of programmers, artists, actors, etc, even turns into a playable mass. Most of the '0' reviews on here are hatred-filled joke reviews written by people who I very much doubt even touched the game. It's sad to see, for example, voice actors literally being sent death threats over their part in the game. The only people at fault here are the game directors and writers; but even they do not deserve most of what a loud angry minority of gamers are giving them. If you dislike the story, that's fine. However, that does not mean the people behind the game deserve to 'kill themselves' or 'have their dog be raped' or whatever. Now that that's out of the way; let's begin. I loved this game. AND I loved the first game. I understand gamer's dislike of Joel being killed off right at the beginning of the game. I understand not liking being forced to play as Abby for half of the runtime. I understand disliking the depressing and revenge-filled storyline. Why am okay with all of this? Because that's what you're supposed to feel. You're supposed to feel robbed when Joel died. You're supposed to have to hate Abby when you get control of her. Because at the end of the journey, this game is not about making you happy. It's not some teenager fan fiction. It's a **** apocalypse. Everything gets taken away from Ellie. We experience that in a painstaking, difficult, tragic 10-15 hours. We hate Abby, hate what's she done, what's she's ruined. And then we get put in her shoes, and find Ellie doing the same exact thing we hate Abby for. The entire runtime of the game is spent seeking what Ellie thinks is revenge, and at the end of it, we see where it leaves us. It leaves us with nothing. With nothing but an empty feeling inside. In a world filled with death and despair, we find that the whole game isn't spent trying to fix all of it like we thought, but instead about causing more of it. We find that revenge wasn't the end game. Revenge was found in the first hour, with the death of Joel. Everything after that? A desperate attempt to find meaning in life. Ellie's meaning of living was the cure. That didn't work. She turned to revenge. It didn't work. Marriage and family? It also didn't work. She didn't find happiness. And neither should we, playing this game. Yes, everything gets taken away from Ellie, and it's sad and it sucks, and it feels like it's stepping all over the first game. But what we fail to realize, is that everything was taken away from Abby first, from the Fireflies, in the first game. In fact, the 'most fair' situation in the whole series? It's right after Joel died. Abby got her father taken away from her, and so Ellie got her's taken right back. The Last of Us: Part II isn't a revenge story. It's what it is: An apocalypse. One where no one ends happy. That's the point of the story Naughty Dog is telling. It seems unfair Joel gets taken away from Ellie, but at the same time, it's unfair that Jerry, Owen, Mel, Manny, Yara, Nora, etc all get taken away from Abby. It's a sad and depressing story. It shows us life isn't always fair. And that's what's beautiful about it. Expand

One of the best games I ever play. The realistic and very hard story makes you in the final think about all that videogame. The gameplay and the grafics are simply beautiful. The soundtrack and all the details it have make it the GOTY of this 2020. Naugthy Dog give us the game and the story we need to know, no the story we want. All the people who hates this game needs to understand that,

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.
GOTY 2020 É DE THE LAST OF US PART II PORRA (chora menos, galerinha ;) ).

This is a depressing game. Regardless, It has such a creative, innovative, and distinct approach to storytelling, and the gameplay takes huge strides to give the player a realistic and deeply disturbing experience that ties into the messages.
The story is masterful in how it guides the player through the emotions of the characters, only to make you step back and observe the consequences of your actions. The story definitely isn't for everyone, but it's memorable and masterfully stacked up to a conclusion that leaves you thinking for days. As someone who's played it four times since launch, I can confidently say that the more you understand each character and the more time you spend exploring their motives the more you will enjoy it.
When it comes to gameplay, the leap from the first game in animation, 3d sound, enemy dialogue, and atmosphere make it the most harrowing, realistic experience I've ever seen. This is a game best experienced while completely immersed. Enemies will have unique names, and they'll communicate with each other based on the situation. The more immersed you are, the more satisfying the gameplay will be. In addition, the game is capable of making you feel many different kinds of fear, although it's definitely not a horror game. The brutality of the gameplay combined with the story take the player on a distinct emotional journey.
The score is very subtle, but it's also phenomenal not just in terms of composition but also motifs, which reinforce the story and the thoughts of the characters. Props to Gustavo Santaolalla for the emotional story-driven music, and to Mac Quayle for providing the oppressive combat and stealth music that contribute so much to the atmosphere.
Visually, this game is on par with Uncharted 4, God of War, Red Dead Redemption 2. It's amazing how well Naughty Dog optimizes the experience, and the visuals are striking and beautiful. The game has been free of bugs for me as well.
The acting is top notch, with incredible performances from Troy Baker, Ashley Johnson, and Laura Bailey, along with the vast supporting cast of characters.
In summary, this is an emotional journey that explores revenge from many perspectives. It goads the player on, only to make them regret their actions later. The story is controversial, but I thought it was incredibly well thought out and executed. The gameplay is tense, realistic, violent, and purposeful. With great music, graphics, performances, and more, this is a truly unforgettable experience.

Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
