    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Last of Us Part 1 was a game that's easy to love. Throughout the entirety of the story, you bond and form relationships with witty, funny, noble and in general, lovable characters. The game is about love and family. After all, especially the end is about putting love above everything else.

    The Last of Us Part 2 is a game that's not easy to appreciate or even like. It's the polar opposite of the first game. As creative director Neil Druckman himself said it; Part 2 is about hate.

    In Part 2 you come to face the consequences of your actions in Part 1. The death of Joel at the hands of Abby, a new character, and her friends, neither of whom we know anything about.

    In a feat of hate and revenge, Ellie promises to avenge Joel and kill every last of one the people involved in his tragic death. Here, even the player is involved, as previously we had formed great bonds with these characters, and we can empathize with them and their loss. What is hard to do, and the reason many people don't like the game, is the second part of the game. Where you instead play as Abby, and see their part of the story. Through gameplay and cleverly written flashbacks, we get to know Abby's side of things. The game forces you to analyze and challenge everything you know about Ellie and Joel. As we get to experience first hand the atrocities Ellie and especially Joel committed in Part 1, we start to realize how everything is connected. However, not everyone will like this game. As Troy Baker said, you have to approach Part 2 with an open mind. You have to allow Naughty Dog to tell the story they wrote for these characters instead of expect the one you want to hear.

    While some people will be able to do this, others won't. They will not be able to empathize with Abby and her group, and will not be able to accept that Joel and Ellie's actions had rightfully deserved consequences.

    One thing I know for sure, though, is that the people who really take the time to appreciate the game with an open mind will love the game.

    They will be able to appreciate the level of detail the developers put into this absolute masterpiece. From the audio and visuals to the storytelling. Naughty Dog truly remains at the top of their game with this story. Controversial ending explained for people who hate it because they didn't get it: In the epilogue, Ellie's wounds have healed, she's not carrying any weapons with her, she's wearing her Jackson boots from the beginning of the game, and most importantly: she's wearing Dina's bracelet. These are all subtle hints that Ellie actually got her happy ending. She was able to forgive Abby, when she saw Joel and herself in Abby and Lev. She was able to forgive Joel, as in the final moments of the game she finally understood why he did what he did. And most importantly, she learned to forgive herself and find inner peace. This is why she leaves the guitar at the end. She's finally letting Joel go.

    Furthermore, Dina's bracelet and her wearing her Jackson boots, as well as her now healed fingers indicate that she might now be living happily with Dina, JJ and Jesse's parents in Jackson (theory supported by Jesse's parents' letter) and is only visiting the farmhouse to get closure.

    You dont have to like this game, but I think everyone needs to play it. If you enjoy art, you will enjoy this game regardless.
    Quality is superb technically from animations, to playability and probably best graphics I've seen in any game so far.

Together with memorable characters, a brooding score and cinematic aesthetic it all adds up to being a gaming masterpiece.     Possibly the best game I have ever played. Totally recommend it! It is more like playing a movie rather than a video game. Some of the decisions taken by the characters will be undesired or uncomfortable, but, in my opinion, video games must not be something always funny to play.     El primer juego fue un masterpiece que probablemente no necesitaba una secuela. Sin embargo el equipo de naughty dog no nada más logra justificar esta segunda parte, al igual logra presentar un juego igual de bueno.

    Ok, where to begin ? First: sorry for grammar errors, english isn´t my native language. Second: this game is one of the most beautiful and brillant things i´ve ever seen. The last of us was already a banger back then, but Part 2 levels up everything on it. First with a large improvement of the mechanics. More agility, speed and brutality have been added and they suit the game really well.Ok, where to begin ? First: sorry for grammar errors, english isn´t my native language. Second: this game is one of the most beautiful and brillant things i´ve ever seen. The last of us was already a banger back then, but Part 2 levels up everything on it. First with a large improvement of the mechanics. More agility, speed and brutality have been added and they suit the game really well. The dodge and quick gun swap (L1 and R1 respectively) are just wonderful, if we had at least the quick gun swap on the first game it would have been so much more fluid and good to play, these 2 aditions are the ones that impressed me the most by the very well done implementation of them. Besides that and a jump button and ability to climb ropes it still very similar to the first game but more fluid, which makes it better. Graphically it is just astonishing, Naughty Dog did it again. Facial expressions, executions, running, walking, crawling, pronning, all just looks beautiful and natural. The upgrade system also changed a little, while in the first one you find manuals to improve one of your gadgets, in this one you find manuals to unlock skill trees so you can upgrade things like silencer durability, crafting speed, craft more itens with less resources and etc. The gunplay feels very good, specially the shotgun and pistols, there´s more impact and realism to it, the sound design is on point also. Enemies have more variation now with two new types of infected and different human groups that use different tactics in combat so your gameplay can be refreshed everytime you face any enemy, the addition of dogs have also increased the difficulty a lot, and that´s good to keep players engaged in combat and pay attetion to everything surrounding them, I finished my first run on survivor and oh boy these damn dogs gave me some headaches. But what really sums up for me it´s really the story. Neil writing evolution in pretty evident here, mainly by the courage to write something like this, something challenging, to put perspectives on the table and show the audience that your beloved characters may not be the good guys, that the bad guys may not be bad, and that there is no hero in this world. By the end of it i was sad and relieved. I was sad because it was over, but relieved also because it was over, it was so much of a confusing experience by the end, but in the good way, the confusion that keeps you thinking "oh my god that was awesome" you know like shutter island, memento and other movies. Shocking, ambitious, expandend, enchanced and brave, those are the words that i use to describe this game, and for all those reasons i give it my 10/10 and believe me it´s hard to get this from me. Don´t believe the hate, believe constructive arguements and critics, doesn´t matter if they give the game a 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 or 10 like me, if it´s constructive give it a read, but if it´s just pure hate let it go. Remember, it´s a videogame, the characters are not real and does not represent the actors behind them.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Art doesn’t always have to make us feel good. It walks us through the uncomfortable realities of being human. This game accomplished incredible achievements with narrative and the exploration of revenge, grief and the futility of our anger. I was so impressed with the artistic experience and also how I felt the emotions of the characters I played. The comparative nature of playing a beloved character and then the enemy was harrowing but absolutely worthwhile and a unique experience. Expand

So people are just cool with Joel killling whoever he wants and ripping the cure for humanity away from everyone for his own selfish reasons? That since Joel is such a likable guy, he dosen't deserve, no matter what he does to anybody else, the reckoning that comes his way? Has anyone ever heard the saying, "what go around, comes back around?" The whole point of the story is to take a character who you hate and don't understand in the beginning (Abby), and have the ability as a sensible human being to understand, empathize, and sympathize with that character by the end. To understand why she did what she did. What? Nobody felt bad that Abby's entire life was destroyed when Joel murdered her dad? To the point that she couldn't even be intimate with her love interest, knowing the man that did that is still breathing the same air she is. What makes Joel and Ellie so much better that Abby? Other than the fact that you learn Abby's story last? The whole point of what made Joel such a fascinating character was that he was simultaneously a hero AND a villain. Saving Ellie was hardly a heroic thing to do, even Ellie would have disagreed with it. People need to understand that a major theme of the game was seeing and perceiving events and the world from certain character's point of view. To understand why each character does what they do and makes the decision's that they do. That's called great storythelling. To be able to understand why character's do what they do. Not just forever staying faithful to a villain just because he's a fan favorite. I applaud Naughty Dog for doing this. Bottomline is this, depending on your point of view, Joel Miller was a villain, and he got what was coming to him. Expand

    Sin duda la continuación de una obra maestra espectacular, muerte y venganza en una historia muy bien contada, le doy un 9.5 con el único defecto que me hubiera gustado jugar aún más con Ellie, aunque la parte de Abby no me desagrada logras conectar con el personaje y entender sus motivos fue demasiado el tiempo jugando con ella, no deja de ser una obra maestra por esto.

    Es un juego genial, digno de esta saga para entender el porqué del final del juego hay que jugar tanto la parte de ellie como la de abby, el juego genera una empata al ver los 2 puntos de vista y de lo que pierde tanto ellie como abby en general una excelencia de juego.

It's wrenching, and difficult, and challenging, but fundamentally is about people trying to work through difficult emotions in a world that fosters violence but ultimately, doesn't reward violence.     Either you're into this kind of a rough ride or you're not.

    In terms of technical execution and design, it's nearly flawless. I've encountered a few floating-object bugs, but nothing game breaking. Controls, graphics, interface, and level design are superb.

Before I played the game, I’ve heard about the rumors and leaks but that didn’t stop me in getting to know what Naughty Dog wants us to know about the story. I came in with an open mind and boy was IAgain, Naughty Dog did it. I have high expectation with this game and yet, the game blew it out of the water. The graphics, the gameplay, the voice acting, the twists and turns are immaculate. Before I played the game, I’ve heard about the rumors and leaks but that didn’t stop me in getting to know what Naughty Dog wants us to know about the story. I came in with an open mind and boy was I flabbergasted. It was those types of games where each moment with the characters are heartfelt and authentic, and that their thirsts for answers and vengeance fueled this gut-wrenching, anxiety-inducing storyline. It was one of the best video games I played in a long while and the one that will stick to me for the longest time. Thanks, Naughty Dog for this masterpiece of a game. Es un buen juego contando una buena historia con una buena narrativa el modo de juego es bueno pues es relativamente habitual un recurso: a modo de tutorial, para ofrecer al jugador secuencias de acción y exploración sin que queden artificialmente apelotonadas al inicio del juego y cuando todavía los personajes se están presentando, se recurre o a flashbacks de acción o a controlar otros personajes. Este es el caso de Abby, cuyas intenciones desconocemos, y que desde luego no podemos sospechar que será la persona que, poco tiempo después, asesine a Joel en presencia de Ellie.

    El juego hace que tengas demasiadas emociones encontradas ya que el juego trata de la venganza y como afecta pero sin embargo el juego nos hace sentir esas ganas de vengarse, te hace enojar de verdad disfrutas cuando matas a los enemigo por qué el juego realmente te pone en los zapatos del personaje. Tambien te hace poner el los zapatos de Abby pues antes no sabíamos su razón de matar a Joelpero después de jugar con ella puedes empatizar y yo cuando llegue al final la verdad no quería que muriera ninguna pues ambas ya habían sufrido bastante.Es muy desgarradora la parte de cuando ellie intenta tocar la guitarra pero obvio ya no suena igual entonces si te hace reflexionar sobre la venganza y sus consecuencias ellie lo pierde todo probablemente. También el juego deja muy abierto el final pues cuando ellie está en santa bárbara no lleva la pulsera que Dina le regaló lo que me hace deducir que pudo regresar a Jackson con Dina después de lo de santa bárbara, lo que confirma también por qué ellie no se sorprende al llegar a casa y que esté vacia.

    Es muy buen juego que no merece un 5.5.

This one I will also remember most of my life due to the gut wrenching quality of storytelling as well as the unexpected and original points to this powerful story. It broaches many taboo subjects and is able to make you feel the seriousness of the violence you have to do in order to survive. I understand that people may not like it for some obvious reasons but i do not think this game deserves less than 6 points. The storytelling is amazing, we all get mad when a main character dies, but not just for that is a bad game (or movie, book, whatever). Is not the perfect game, the first one is a mile away better but this part 2 is a closure of a beautiful story which is not about revenge, is about forgiveness and care. We think Ellie lost everything, but that´s not true, when she spares Abby’s life she saw Joel, watching her, she remembered all they spent together and that´s not what Joel wanted for her... The night before Joel dies, she told him she wanted to forgive him, so forgiving Abby was kinda her redemption for all she had done (kill Abby’s friends) and that pardon for Joel. Again, is not the perfect game, but it deserves a 10/10 because is the end (maybe?) of one of the top 3 games in the century. Expand

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

    Not everyone is going to enjoy the motives of The Last of Us Part II. But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
