The Last of Us 2 is basically just a bad movie that's $60. Gameplay is minimal compared to other games. Story is uninteresting and characters feel un relatable. Graphics are nice but that's about it.

Almost all spoiler free; Very minimal events talked about that you wont understand even if you thought about it.

First off the game looks absolutely amazing. If all you care about is looks this game will not disappoint.

The story is just OK as a stand alone game, but taking into account the first game the story falls flat as a sequel. The main cast is no longer likable and you will more then likely hate them by the end. The end is just terrible.

The fist game had its faults but so much could be overlooked due to the lovable cast. This one is brutal and does not have that in it.

We also get sequel baited? This game as a standalone game would be worth a buy, however it is not. ND made this a sequel to one of the most beloved new IP's ever. More was expected, and while I can say they took risks, one would have to say they failed.

    Pros:
    -Graphics
-Combat ; some hate it but I still enjoyed it very much, if you wanted an evolution you did not get it but you do not need to make changes for changes sake it fits the world very well.
    -Crafting system
    -Getting to play Ellie again
    -Voice actors are top notch
    Cons:
-New characters are not very likable, having to play someone who I hate after 2 hours of game play I did not find fun. Should of led with the second half where we learn about the history before you had the event I am talking about. Having me hate them and trying to get me to like them is so much harder then having us learn and fall in love with them first. It would of made the player think so much more about the events rather then **** this person" that I think most will feel.
-pacing is everywhere, to many switches
-way to long, the game could of been 12~15 hours just like TLoU 1
-Story is just not very good once you look at the first game.
-So many "Deus ex Machina moments": the number of times someone should of died and got out of it UGH. Please keep this to just a few times people!

This game is all about story. And it mostly fails at it. If this game had not been a sequel I could likely place it at a 7/10 Maybe an 8 even. But its not, the game does not respect the first game at all. It be like if Iron man 2 killed Tony off in the first 15 minutes then had Pepper go on a revenge story, become a total loser, and follow it up with the murderer becoming a "hero" or likable person at least.

If you want to get into the last of us IP start with The Last of Us 2. And follow it up with the prequel (the original Last of Us) You probably will enjoy the second and fall in love with the first.

Also, it's entertaining as well, plays very similar to the first one, but it's just way WAY too long, almost 30 hours to complete. The gameplay is not varied enough to avoid repetition after so much time spending on crafting and shoot down infected enemies and patrols. It seemed endless!!! What really kept me going on was to find out what would happen and shock me next in the story.

Even so, I had a good time and it's worth a play, especially for those who enjoyed the first game, but I don't see myself playing it again, ever! It's just way too much.

I was thinking about giving an 7 out of 10, but the production value is so mesmerizing that it deserved to earn an 1 plus! :D

TLOU was such a perfect microcosm of a phenomenon this was always going to be a tough road for ND.....I enjoyed playing through TLOU2. It took about 29hrs and I took my time to poke around the highly detailed environments. While the core gameplay is very well put together, and the dialogue is excellent here, most of the story beats felt like a miss for me.... I simply couldn't get behind the characters un-darwinian decisions as most of them involve characters in the story making completely unsafe moves that threaten the safetey of their groups and in a post apocalyptic survival situation this felt off...(which is tough given the whole plot of the game banks on the audience routing for the characters need to get revenge at ANY COST). In some ways, having characters carry over from TLOU felt like a crutch and dragged plot pacing down. The story felt at its strongest when it focused on the newer characters for me. Also props to ND for not 'overwriting' the LGBTQ+ characters, TBH it was so well written, I didnt even give it any thought. I cant help but feel the main story beats would have landed better if they had a linear rather than 'chopped up' time line.

Visually, the game is stunning (and no, not brave... just stunning). Everything else is ****. The most important components of a game like this (story and character) are exceptionally lacking. Under no circumstances will I purchase or pay any attention to a third installment.

Neil Druckmann said that some fans of the first game wouldn't like the 2nd one. I think it was Troy Baker who also said that people would either love the game or hate it. yo no veo a Abby como relleno, más bien todo lo contrario, es la protagonista.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm at the half way point. 15h20min in. And the story is mind blowing. Certainly has made me want to seek revenge. The brutality is exactly what I'd expect the human race to crumble into from a world ending event. It's an emotional roller coaster. There is so much misinformation about this game, to clarify Abby does not appear to be transgender, there is certainly nothing to suggest it after the 'tracking' chapter. She's more like Sarah Connor on steroids Expand

And what I got was an incredible experience that haunted me for days, and still has me thinking about it even a week later. Though it's not horror, it's one of the darkest games I've ever played. It made me do things I've never done in a game before, things that were extremely uncomfortable and heart-wrenching. If the goal of Part II was to elicit emotion from the player, then it's a resounding success.

Having looked at some other reviews now, it seems that that emotional discomfort really bothered people. Whereas for me, I was in awe that a game could make me feel this way. Naughty Dog could have easily given fans exactly what they wanted, a play-it-safe sequel where nobody we care about dies, and everyone lives happily ever after. But that's not how life works, especially in this ultraviolent world they've created. Without spoiling anything, Naughty Dog took a big risk with Part II and I couldn't be happier about it. There's simply no other AAA game that has done before what they accomplished. The story is immense, complex, and daring.

The Last of Us Part II is revolutionary. Not only in its multi-sided story-telling, but also in its mechanics and meticulous attention to detail. Every moment in this game is screenshot-worthy, and the combat is more immersive than ever with enemies calling each other by name. It's such a simple idea to think about and yet it adds so much to each combat scenario. Shoot someone in the head and their friend might yell "NO, SKYLER!" The violence & gore is also just plain disturbing at times. Not since the original Soldier of Fortune have I been this shocked to go up to a dead body and witness the aftermath of my chaos.

It's clear that an ungodly amount of work and talent went into every facet of this game, and when I finished it I struggled to "review" it in my mind. It was just SO MUCH to process. It took me days to finally decide what number rating to give it, but when I managed to put all the pieces together and look at the game for what it was (not what I expected it to be) I realized that the game was a masterpiece.

Don't listen to the negativity of others. Play the game yourself and come to your own conclusions. In my mind, Part II is a must play title, every bit worthy as a sequel to one of the best Playstation games ever made, and my personal game of the year thus far.

Sorry Joel died. I loved him too, but he is literally the reason that there is no cure for the world.
Playing as Abby was such a breath of fresh air.
Ellie is a rampaging lunatic, even though I understand and agree with her motivations.
The whole point of this game was to show how violence is cyclical, and thankfully, Ellie and Abby are able to break that cycle.
If you didn't like the game, then you clearly weren't able to get over yourself and see what Naughty Dog was truly trying to show you.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then...
