It's amazing. If you liked the first game, you will like this game. If you say you don't, please stop whining about a story that was different from what you wanted to see. Life is hard . Considering the gameplay, everything great about the first part has been kept and improved. It did a great job at pulling you really into that world.

What really sets this game apart for me is the sheer intensity, gut-wrenching moment after heart-breaking development after brutal encounter, every situation being executed to perfection.

Naughty Dog managed to deliver an incredibly complex work of art, that still manages to shine in simplicity. Thank you!

The game is beautiful and horrible and heartbreaking. If you thought the first game was bittersweet then this game should feel familiar. The gameplay is legitimately great, with awesome stealth mechanics, but the game's core is the emotional storytelling. I have no problem saying this is one of the best stories ever told, regardless of platform. I cried a lot.

I get why people are mad, but it deserves at least an 8 or 9 if not a 10/10. I doubt if other developers dare to make such a leap forward in narrative and storytelling. Can't imagine this to be achieved without such an interactive medium.

Naughty Dog crafts an immensely ambitious sequel to one of the most critically acclaimed games ever. One that is never shy to taking massive risks and making incredibly bold decisions.

From the very beginning, this game honours its predecessor whilst simultaneously creating its unique voice. Instead of just repeating what made the first game so good and lazily creating a mass pleasing cash grab, Naughty Dog approaches the second instalment with a fresh and unpredictable creative eye, morphing what starts as a simple revenge story, into a rich, complex character study of the controlling effect of pain and anger.

The gameplay feels developed, introducing more variety to encounters with different enemy types whilst increasing the many different ways that an encounter can be successfully handled. Paired with the stunning visuals, the player feels more immersed than ever before, the brutality being realised to a scarily real degree whilst the photorealistic character models depict the character's clear emotions through distinct facial expressions and body movements.

The game is packed with twists, turns and surprising moments. Around the mid-point of the story, when the high intensity, fast paced quest for revenge is at an all time high, the narrative is unexpectedly altered and the pace is reduced to a sludge. I thought for a short period that this was a flaw, but throughout the second half of the game, I began to realise the truly ambitious and surprising route that the story was taking. It's a concept that on paper, would seem ridiculous, but Naughty Dog handles it with such maturity and precision that it elevates the themes and makes the story unique and special. As the game works to its conclusion, the slow middle section feels entirely justified.

After playing 'The Last of Us: Part II' I can easily say that it is the most impressive video game I have ever played. I felt almost every emotion during my play through, consistently being surprised at the bold and impeccable decisions being made. By the end, I was left in pieces. The story only becoming more emotional and resonant the more I ponder back on it. The story is beautifully concluded, subtly but powerfully completing the character arcs and rounding off the game's themes. This was an emotionally challenging experience, one that is absolutely generation defining; a masterpiece.

Second, its graphics are the best I've seen on PS4, they are very realistic, the lights are very well done and the flora is also very well done, the infested are scary, etc. Third, the sound section is very well done, you hear the crystals of a glass if you step on them after breaking one, when hitting an enemy you hear as if the blow was real, in short, it makes you feel as if you were in the game. To finish, as many negative critics say, his story is bad, which is not, because his characters are well developed, everything fits, except the end, which is a meh.
In short, IT IS A GREAT SEQUEL AND GAME.

It surpassed the original as a sequel and built on the first across multiple facets; puzzles, combat and even dialogue prompts. I really don't see any of the plot holes people have been complaining about. Sure, Neil's leftist politics have left some brush strokes in this Masterpiece production, however the characters are far more than just their LGBT labels. There is representation without compromising on the fluidity of the story or the authenticity of the interactions.

I think the main reason so many people hate the game, is the leaks, which of course should NOT have happened. However, it's not too difficult to avoid having the game spoiled if you know what you are doing online. The second and more pressing issue is how a large portion of the game is spent playing as the antagonist character who kills off a character that is near and dear to the hearts of the audience. The game forces you to try to relate to a character you should naturally hate, and to feel bitterness for a character that you want to remember as this perfect character with no flaws. This is how the devs have made the game as true to life and as true to their characters as possible. In reality there aren't many people who you can say you love unconditionally, due to screw-ups or mishaps on their part. Furthermore, there isn't anybody you feel nothing but hate for. In most cases when you hate somebody, there is pity you feel as well. From my own personal life experience, I know this.

Without offence to any of the other reviewers or players, hating the game is as valid as loving it; everyone has an opinion. Perhaps people are hating the game for the wrong reasons. Going into the experience already having the story spoiled and having confirmation bias towards the game being bad. Perhaps a lot of the player-base don't have the same life experience and emotional acuity as others to fully comprehend that it's possible to hate somebody while relating to them. Therefore, they may be confusing hate for a character with their feelings for the game.

This franchise is designed to stir up these kinds of emotions. NaughtyDog set out to make you hate the antagonist character and did a damn good job based on how much backlash the game is getting. They took a risk; it didn't pay off for the majority. People didn't interpret the story the way they wanted them too. Ultimately it was a story of the selfish elements of forgiveness and how harbouring hate can only lead to guilt and losing the people close to you.

That is the message I interpreted from the story, such was made loud and clear the more I thought back on my experience throughout the game, and is echoed not just in main development arcs, but also in smaller dialogue details too.

So, to those of you who failed to enjoy the game as intended, I forgive your oversight. I hope that anybody who reads this may see the game through my lens and see a different perspective. They may find themselves playing through it again with this in mind and appreciating it.

As for the ending, people claiming it wasn't true to the universe or Ellie's character for it to have ended the way it did... I disagree; you are forgetting that she has spent the last 5 years growing up in a relatively peaceful environment of Jackson, surrounded by nothing but community, friends, and intimate relationships. So, to those of you who say it was not true to her character, look again, and think on what I have stated here.

Now that the elephant is out of the room I can talk about the fun stuff! The graphical detail,
and sound design is stunning. I only wish the PS4 could run it at higher than 60fps, as at times, panning the camera in big open areas created some stutter, even disabling motion blur didn't alleviate.

The combat and puzzles are a vast improvement on the first game. I was getting frustrated with some encounters, but very much in a positive way: "Of course that stupid ***** flanked me, why are they so smart, ****!". The complexity and difficulty really stressed the near misses and desperation of the characters.

I will also be the first to admit that the game is buggy. At one point after I messed with the camera settings, if i backed up into a corner a lot of the environment would disappear allowing me to see where infected or enemy AI were lurking. The AI itself is also buggy at times, with allies walking in front of you as you line up a shot, and enemy AI repeating dialogue prompts on loop. Did it ruin the experience? No, it’s a nit-pick at smaller details. The main issue people have is with the story, which I sincerely hope with another playthrough people will see things in a different light.

Overall, what a rollercoaster of emotions. Even if the negative reviews put you off, I would strongly recommend playing the game at least once. There are lessons to be learnt here.

    Great job NaughtyDog!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. My Review:

Naughty Dog's mistake was to believe that people would be able to understand the complex world and mind of the characters and their changes during the years between TLOU1 and TLOU2.

Joel's death was composed perfectly, and has more deph to it then people were actually able to see. Joel lived for 20 years of his life in a quarantine zone as a smuggler, fighting the military, killing a lot of people and doing whatever it took to survive. But in TLOU2, Joel had his life completely changed. He was living in a city where people from all around would go throught it to trade, sleep for a feel days, and just go away. Joel was relearning how to live, relearning how to interact with people, and his only worries were Ellie's and the community's survival. Joel was a changed man! He "trusted" Abby because he had no other place to go and was used to finding travelers around the area. Also, it was not the first time Joel chose to trust someone, as he had trusted on Henry, not once, but TWICE in the first game + Henry even betrayed him, but Joel could forgive him as shown in the tower scene where they were having a very friendly chat and laughing. (OF course Joel wanted to know if Henry was right about the fireflies, but Joel had a place to go in his mind, and he choose to follow Henry instead of going afer Tommy, proving that even dough he was harsh, he could still trust people).
So in conclusion to this topic, Joel could not have know what he was getting into, and even if he saw something coming, he didnt have other choice + He had met a lot of traveleres that were friendly, so Abby's suggestion did not sound bad to him, especially in the situation they were. Joel's death showed he was a human being that can sometimes trust the wrong people and die. Its just like he told Ellie in the first game: "We are just lucky, and luck runs out".

    About the ending:
TLOU2's ending was close to perfect.
I read a critic by Cultured Vultures that had me disapointed, because I couldnt imagine how a specialized crew could be so blind to see all the game's journey and how the conclusion proved a enormous point, that is the main critic of the game (its important to say that I think revenge was the main critic, but the game makes a point about everything bad in the actual world right now, so its just my point of view about what is the main critic. It could be about something else in the actual director's plans)

    Cultured Vultures on TLOU2:
In trying to subvert expectations, The Last of Us Part II discards the best aspects of its predecessor to provide a rote revenge tale that is ill-considered, ending on a note that makes everything — all the violence, all the loss, all the struggle — feel utterly, hopelessly pointless.

Dear Cultured Vultures, the "pointlessness" of the revenge was exactly the sensation that the game needed to provide to show that revenge was not the best solution to anyone's problems, but you guys were too stupid to see.

Ellie and Abby lost everything during this journey of revenge. Abby had lost the fireflies and her dad, so she chaced Joel and killed him , but her revenge directly impacted someone that had no reasons to go after her before, and started a cycle of revenge that could have been avoided if she moved on. So Ellie goes after Abby, finds and kills every last one of them except for who she actually wanted to kill, and its forced to give up, because otherwise, she would get more people that she cared about killed. And the only reason that Ellie actually survived the third day, was because Abby showed herself as a good person that was blinded by revenge, and realized that she started this, so she tried to stop it herself by sparing both Dina and Ellie.
But Ellie had not learned her lesson and in her mind, her comfort would come from killing Abby, when it actually would only come if she could forgive Joel and herself, and by doing so, accepting his death like of those she loved that had died before. So in conclusion, Ellie was not ready to accept what she loss until she had lost so much that the only thing left was her humanity and the memory of Joel, so she spared Abby at the final scene, because in that moment where she nearly killed Anny, the thing that came through her mind was not what Abby had done, but what she could not do, which was forgive Joel sooner and learn how to love him again, and that was Ellie's biggest regret and the main cause of pain + She even lost her fingers 3 and 4, making her not able to play guitar, which was the thing that most resembled her of Joel's goodness and love.

Even if u didnt like the story , giving this art work of a game a "0,1,2,3" is unexcusable!
4.4 user average just shows that theres a lot of stupid people with internet, and that people arent ready for games as complex and deep.

The Last Of Us Part 2 is the best narrative I have experienced in all my life as a gamer.
Thank you Naughty Dog for this piece of pure art.
