It kills player favorite character right away, which is a powerful moment, but without any real pay-off later on. At first I was just dissapointed by really bad pacing of this game, but still waiting for awesome story to reveal in second part of this game. The awesome story never came and Joel really died for nothing. Main villain Abby just gives me no other emotion than "dumb" and "hypocritical". There is so much potential for awesome villain but nope we get Abby who is just annoying from the start. By visual and by her acts. And they fckin made me play as her character for hours in second part. I was bored the whole time. You spend hours searching for revenge and then pretty likable character Jesse dies because what? Jesse, Tommy and Ellie forgot the map with big huge mark for their enemies to find? Again dumb. I also didnt deeply care for relationship between Ellie and Dina. Naughty dog really missed the chemistry between these two. Ellie choices are joke in second part of the game and doesnt really match up with her character. There are not many huge dissapointments in gaming sequel history, so TLOU 2 is clearly a winner in this unflatering category. To be fair, some gameplay is ok and character mimics are amazin.… Expand

    Lazy subversive storytelling with more regard for agenda pushing than character development. Any improved polish from the performance side is being unfortunately overshadowed by the needless teardown of beloved characters. Naughty Dog has themselves to blame. A single player, narrative driven game deserves far better than this.

    Such an amazing experience to play this game, buying it was probably the best decision i've made in years, i could even say that playing this solved a lot of my problems irl, including my insomnia of course, just after 5 minutes of playing it i had the best 11 hours of sleep of my life.

    Naughty Dog destroyed this franchise. The first game is my favorite video game to date but this garbage they call a game was a spit to the face of every single gamer that wanted this game. The story is horrendous and they took everything we wanted and hoped for and told us to go to hell. But hey, the graphics are good right? DO NOT PURCHASE THIS GAME IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY!

Sadly, this story is painfully weak and is in no way doing any justice to The Last of Us. I’m sure you all know the spoilers by now, so I won’t mention them here. I wanted this game to be amazing as I really enjoyed The Last of Us... but this just doesn’tGameplay wise this is quite easy. Graphically it is outstanding. If anyone ever golfs Ellie, Joel would've killed every last one of them in the whole country. He would've become The Last Of Us. The fact that the story is so depressing to the point that leaves Ellie completely alone is beyond disturbing. Its almost a torture to play the game. I mean, there is nothing wrong making a game with a darker thematic, i say darker because it's actually quite gnarly and sick. I just feel sad for her and. I really don't care about the so call Agenda related issues. I can take it, but the general tone after "that death" is just sadness.… Expand

    I have never hated a character before and I despise Abby.
    Also for people looking for LGBT representation... this failed at that too. All there is is suffering and the main message I got from this game around that is that being gay causes it.
    The graphics were great but if I’m honest, that just made everything so much worse.
    I am so glad I had the beginning spoiled for me because I had originally pre-ordered the Ellie edition, I have no idea what that would have done to me mentally, owning 300 dollars worth of stuff from such a terrible game. I would have lost it. As it was I played for free thanks to a friend that gave me their game after they quit at 2 hours in, I still feel like I deserve a refund.    … Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The story is not the last of us simply, Tlou 1 showed us hope and survival while this game was about murder and revenge. I get they have the right to take the game to another moral code but they cant expect the people to be okay with that and just accept it. There was no charactar development for the original characters beside a little dark side of ellie while the rest such as tommy just had no development while they had so much more focus one new characters like Owen and Lev for some unknown reason. Once we are in the climax where ellie meets abby again theye take you into another game where you play as abby and the tension breaks you basically have to play as abby and do things that doesnt really have anything to do with the main story that was presented in the first half of the game. Then you have Abby saying SHE IS OKAY WITH DYING FOR HUMANITY like sure ofc you can say that when you are not on death bed. Joel was not the bad guy in the first game he did nothing wrong they took away Ellie's choice and he wanted her to have one and couldnt just accept that she was gonna die without even saying good bye so he bursted out mad and killed everyone in his way, so ofc he couldnt tell ellie the truth in the car. BUT it wasnt his fault they didnt give him a chance to even talk to her before the surgery so the whole principle of the fact that joel did anything wrong doesnt really work. Then you have tommy as i mentioned before he got so little screen time while other chracters like Lev got more when tommy was a main piece in the puzzle because he is the one that makes ellie go after abby again and he was the one trying to stop her in the first place and then you think how would tommy change in personality so fast i understand he lost an eye but his character was always the calm one and he just turns upside down that was really frustrating to see. Lastlly why and again why did we spend half the game playing as another character if the story revolves around ellie and why did you make it so many skill trees with so much to do if you were gonna make us switch character like that it was not good for the gameplay expierience nore the story. Please dont attack me for hating the game but make me a good explaination for why its good beside of ¨the story is dark in a darktime omg the first dark story in history and they were brave to make it¨ that is the dumbest **** i ever heard.… Expand

The ending and Joel’s logic for trusting complete strangers makes no sense. Save your money and spend it on a game and company that deserves it. I have played the game and I had to say, it is absolutely the worse sequel in the last of us franchise. It's like having a dog you always adore for years and suddenly you lost interest and gave it away to some random folk. That's almost the same feeling as watching Joel die by the hands of an unknown stranger thats not even related to the first story at all.

    I support LGBT and other gay rights but this is just a cringefest game. The way the emphasize how one of the characters is extremely forced and unncessary. The game is no longer a story but a fan-fiction made by a delusional 14 year old emo girl.    … Expand

    Terrible story arc compared to the first game. Another clear example how identity politics and bad writing are destroying all current series, movies and games. The story is unfulfilling at best, bitter ending and lacks any emotional attachment other than Joel dying for nothing.

    you messed this one up, the only reason i bought this game is because i liked the 1st one and i appreciate the teams hardwork and would like them to get paid for their effort, not the directors and top level decision makers, neil druckmann should retire.

The story is ass. I ended up hating ellie no matter how much i loved her in the first one. The gameplay hasnt evolved at all, theres a few new enemy types but thats it, they pretty much just it. Weapon variety is about as new as the first game. Game looks great but as i said hasnt pushed any barriers like rdr 2 or gow 4 did. All it did was have cool graphics which even EA could have pulled off. Its a disgusting stain and. a worthless game. I guess it was memorable, in that it ruined my faveourite duo in any game. Now that honour goes back to banjo kazooie. Theres also a disgusting sex scene, that i think is gay? So Christians and muslims be wary. Its a **** show. And any gameplay you can findbin this game, you can literally find in any other shooter, without the disappointment of watching your fave game get muddled up in a political horror show.… Expand

Fue uno de mis juegos favoritos de la generación pasada estaba en segundo año de secundaria cuando todos hablabamos de lo genial que era Jugar con Joel del shock de ver el principio y ver lo que sucedia con la hija de Joel, Sentir esa interaccion entre Joel y Ellie nervios de jugar en esos escenarios, y luego salio esta entrega no les voy a mentir me encanto como se veia es asombroso el nivel tecnico que tiene este juego, la mecanica de juego no soy fan del esquivo pero esta bien, visual, musical y jugabilidad excelente pero realmente era necesario, realmente valio la pena sacrificar la historia por algo tan simple por un "Plot Twist" tan basico como lo fue este juego y con un final taaaan cliche de idealismo moral naaa...… Expand

I heard about the leaks a while back and was incredibly disappointed to hear about how Naughty Dog decided to control the narrative of the game. I wasn’t quick to judge because leaks can be very misleading. I took it upon myself to watch the gameplay of the game and wait for the actual reviews to come out. No I’m not talking about the reviews that are done by critics, but by actual gamers. People that have actually been proven to know what the people will actually like. Critics can’t be trusted. They are always so out of touch with the community. Naughty Dog ruined this game by killing off Joel in the most silly way possible. Then they try to make you sympathize with the man/woman (I honestly can’t tell) who killed Joel by making you play as her, then you don’t even get to avenge Joel by killing her at the end. She just walks away scratch free. The dialogue doesn’t feel the same and all the character seem literally more stupid. Joel walked into the trap for no reason. Imagine being Naughty Dog and coming up with the plot of the second game and thinking it’s a good idea to make it a revenge story because Joel killed an irrelevant doctor in the last game. They could have just been semi-intelligent and made it about the Fireflies wanting to hunt down Ellie to find the cure. Then Joel and Ellie are on the run instead of them looking for someone like last game.… Expand

I don't know if it's due to the disappearance of Bruce Straley (or the 70% of Naughtydog staff). There are times that the gameplay becomes overly stretched out to reach the approximate of 25 hours. I must agree with the other reviewers that the story does ultimately feel like poorly written fan fiction. I cannot believe how awful of a story this has become. The character's actions do not feel genuine as much as it's predecessor, and re only done in order to continue the story, but it feels too "Video Gamey". This Game is such a Blood bath, any if not all the characters you care about seem to have a very gruesome ending in the wretched world. That reminds me of the World, it is absolutely awful to play in, its atmosphere is so Hopeless at least its predecessor should a cruel world with hidden beauty. As for audio, it was done quite well, the soundtrack by Gustavo Santaolalla is quite nice with a somber vibe. The Gameplay is very much of the same from the Last of us 1, not much new besides the new jump button, the rope, and the ability to be prone. I'm not sure what was going on with the writing staff at NaughtyDog but it seems that there has been a falling out with anyone who criticized Niel's **** storyline. I don't want to spoil too much if you're planning on purchasing the game =).

After many years of work and the long time between the games, I had expected to see a masterpiece but what I got was a burning pile of **** The gameplay is still just as good as the original and the graphics are just as good. However, the story is riddled with plot holes, the character development makes no sense what so ever. I had sat through the whole game and after it was over, I was very confused about what had naught dog was thinking. With killing off the main character just for shock, and then letting the murderer's walk was a waste of an amazing chance to make Ellie shine in a way that wasn't possible in the original. The characters are shallow with no depth. After this entire time and my 80 dollars for a pre-order, I could not be more pissed off at this game and the developers. I have played games that were free, that had better storylines and character development. Please do not waste your time and money like I did.… Expand
