    The Last of Us 1 gave the industry a lesson in story writing, character development and made you care about the characters. The last of us 2 involves a terrible story line with absolutely no character development which is driven by a woke narrative. The graphics are good, the gameplay is clunky and the ending, very much like the repetitive nature of the gameplay is pointless.     The first part is a masterpiece, this one sucks. The only highlight of the game is political correctness but it contains lines of racism to Asian. Hilarious, Sony is not a Japanese company now? I hope Sony can sell naught dog to EA and get them break apart.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Everything about this game is perfect, except the story. The story certainly gave reviewers a lot to write about, but apparently the author touched himself to tears, and just wants to rub it in our faces.

    We didn't play the first half, hunting Abby down, just to see the story ended suddenly upon seeing her face but couldn't do anything. We suffered though the whole second half, as Abby, just to play her side of the past 3 days, and get back to the scene when Ellie meets Abby, and we didn't buy this game so we can play as Abby to defeat Ellie. And we didn't play the last part, to hunt Abby again, just to let her go at the end.

    The author knows exactly what he should've done, but he does the opposite on purpose.
    He wants to make "whether to kill or forgive Abby" an ultimate question, like the one we faced at the first game, but failed humiliatingly due to it's his self movement instead of a mutual sharing and udnerstanding with players. He forced us to feel what he wants us to feel, instead of what we really feel.

The story line seemed to continue where the last one left off.... early death of the father figure was both rushed and telegraphed in - and what followed became predictable ...... Its like we need to be told that doing bad stuff is bad mmmkay? Seriously this game makes got season 8 looks like a masterpiece. Then it turns into Dexter season finale.

    The force you to play the character that kills Joel - and just force feed you her story...when you already know what happens to everyone in her story. They try to make you feel back about the things you've already done - and it doesn't work.

    30 hours later - I give nearly zero fcks about Abby and her crew. The interesting characters get killed off and we're left with a shallow, on the nose story line and 3 characters surrounded in plot armor.

    I'm giving it a 0 - even though it's like a 6-7 because I want to send a clear message to any developer in the future trying to pull this nonsense again.

    It's entirely possible to make a game sequel without **** all over the original.

    El final se lleva a una decepción que esta muy bien pensado pero mal implementado y las inclusiones no venden si pensaban que con eso era el todo ya que la historia y jugabilidad tienen que ser el arte de cada video juego, al final No me gusto nada en absoluto era el 1 pero con mejores gráficos y mal historia.

    It breaks my heart to write this, but I really did not expect such a poor story after all these years of waiting. While there were a few genuinely good moments, majority of game filled up with plot holes. It just took elements of what worked for the first game without understanding what made them compelling.     The game has a very disappointing story. As someone who absolutely loved the first game this sequel does not do justice. The writing is very poor, much like Star Wars 8 and 9, where it is ok if you have no context of what’s going on but for the fans it is completely ruined. I am not going to consider this canon.

Never in any book, any movie, any tv show and any game. I don't know why these developers felt that that would be a good idea. And then they expect me to play this murderer for the next half of the game... uhhh nope. I'll try to get her killed instead because I don't care about her.

    And that long prolonged sex scene. It's obvious they only added it and purposely made it as gross and disgusting as possible to troll people... their audience... their paying customers... wtf. Do they want money or not?

    I made an account just to say this game is **** stupid. Kill off the most beloved character less than 2 hours into the game and the rest of the story is "revenge bad". If you really want to play this game, buy it 2nd hand/used. Don't dump 60 dollars on this dumpster fire.

    Gameplay is basically the same as the first game from 7 years ago except NOW YOU CAN PRONE!! WOW!!! INNOVATIVE!!

From a story and gameplay perspective is where I feel it just falls apart.     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The combat is probably the most decent part of the game. Shoot then melee, that kinda deal. Not bad, not groundbreaking but it works.
    The stealth is phoned in, it's obvious where you can and should use it and the enemy helps you with it. It's a slog.
    The problem comes with the pacing: it goes from boring nothing to intense action back to boring talking then more action. It's back and forth, there is no build-up. It doesn't feel like it's a quite replayable title, it is no Resident Evil 4, you may want to skip chapters entirely.
    The story is what it is, you know the deal, you heard the spoilers.
    The character they push on you is never at any point likable, and I'm not even sure if that was their point. It never feels like a deuteragonist or anti-hero, it just feels like an annoying boss character modded into the game as protagonist..
    I don't know who would in their right mind care for a sequel just to see what happens to her.
    They added the "Lev" angle to get you to like her, and as a "duo" mirror to Ellie and Dina, but while Lev is okay, Abby is not. She has also very questionable moral value when it comes to gratitude and revenge, her gratitude is adjustable. Lev saved you so Lev is cool, torturing to death a man that just saved your life is also ok, or killing a pregnant woman because another pregnant woman was accidentally killed in self-defense, that's no likeable character.

    For a game pushed for its storytelling ability the dialogues are rough and sometimes juvenile, the pacing is awful, the characters often act out of character just to keep the plot going, all the way to the very epilogue.

    The plot also tries to play off Joel as "guilty" of something. Make no mistake: Ellie would've died for no reason, there was never going to be a cure in TLOU1.

    You have to feel sorry for Ellie, not just Joel, the plot is incredibly stupid just so she can be on the short end of the stick at the end. She's left with nothing for no reason, and I don't mean in a "life is unfair" way, I mean "the plot will go full stupid just so she is left with nothing".

    I pity people trying to enable writing like this.

    tl;dr if you have to, get it for the gameplay, but expect to suffer through lots and lots of bad dialogue and contrived drama that often makes no sense just to play the game.    … Expand

The ending literally makes no sense, not only she didn’t get any justice for Joel, she lost 2 fingers. Good job, Naughty Dog! Here’s a suggestion to save this game from flopping. Make part 3 with Ellie woken up, and all the stuffs that happened during part 2 was just a dream. I have lost interest in this game, now please don’t **** up the upcoming show adaptation of it.… Expand

    I tried to avoid spoilers to not get spoiled but now really regret it...shouldbn't have bought this game.
    Also, the more I learn about the leaks and how Sony and ND reacted, the more I dislike them now....Guess I won't buy a ND on release day again...and I won't trust any of the magazines and big reviewers again. I feel    Poor ND devs who wasted to much talent on a story like this...

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The trailers and the reviews by the pandering critics wanting to receive review copies from sony in the future are deceiving. This is not the sequel most people have been waiting and hoping for (if any). The positives are only related to the visuals and the technicality of the game.. animations etc. The guys responsible for lighting, animations, voice acting etc all did a phenomenal job and deserve praise! BUT this is a very linear story driven game and what good does a story driven game do when the story is absolute garbage? the story feels like some forced fanfic that tries hard to seem deeper than it really is. I don't mind Joel getting killed, in fact I counted on it. But the way they did kill him and the way they force the player to control his killer Abby (a boring characters that constantly has the facial expression of someone taking a **** doesn't do this already boring, badly paced game any favor. To top it all off the game turns into this revenge plot where Ellie kills hundreds of people to get to Abby only to realize that "hey! killing is bad" when she gets the chance to kill Abby.
    I don't care about Ellie being lesbian or Joel being killed by a woman, it all comes down to how they handled it and how the story progresses. When a game is more like an interactive movie the story is what carries it, that's why this game sucks.    … Expand

    i have nothing against lgbt community but putting them as a central plot is not for everyone. It is sad that all this tremendous work of artists is useless.
    Drakman wanted to push his agenda into the game, well, he did it.
    i just simply don't like and dont buy such content and that's what happened.

    one of the greatest games of all time. Brought a new standard for future games. Barely any bad review actually have any good point to to make. being angry because they didn't make the story that you wanted is a laugh. can't carbon copy the first game if you want to make a truly great game

    This game killed the first part in a very disrespectful way... Terrible story with characters which remind me of some hipster emotional low budget drama movie. A bigger disaster than 2020 with this whole pandemic going around. Don't waste your money.

    4 different type of ennemy. By the way, the story doesn't care AT ALL about infected and the world is on fire... It's just a common revenge story... No interactions, no choice, no game mechanics... nothing. Just a fancy corridor... This    Gameplay is just ridiculous... All other games do better.

    The Last of Us Part II is the high point of the PlayStation 4. The plot is controversial, but the game is the incredibly addictive adventure of Ellie, from which it is impossible to pull away from the opening and to the very end.

But if you try and manage to accept the subliminal and not so subtle messages as a fact that the world has gone awry and that people have the need to have somewhere or someone to belong to as their own way out, then... You will witness the boundaries of gaming expand. You will witness a true masterpiece.
