    I live in New Zealand. After playing through the game I simply can not understand how this game received a 95/100 meta score.
    Positives:
    -Game play -Graphics -Top Tier Animation -Cut scenes and voice acting Negatives: -Characters -Character development (It's non existent) -Plot -The ending The writing destroys this game. The game does everything it can to ruin your favorite character from the last game and put you in an angered, frustrated frame of mind. I barely played through it. The story made it feel even more like a chore. Frustrating, agenda filled story,lack of an improvement in gameplay, and awfully poor writing.… Expand

    I know many would find wrong of me to put a 0 in a game with soo many good things going for it, like the graphics, the gameplay, the scenery is great too, but when I judge a game I do it in the basis of my general enjoyment of it, I don't really care if it has some glitches or drop some frames here and there, if I feel great about a game I care for non of those other things.     I don't have anything against the ideas they had, but it's just so poorly written, without a care for who these Characters are. The writing is just a burning pile of Neil druckmans.

    Neil Druckmann completely ruined this series. Should've kept the original writers instead of firing 75% of the studio after the story was almost completely finished and replacing it with his own.

    As gamers, I love a good story building, accepting the character, understanding the main character. I don't felt this game do that. Too unrealistic. I won't recommend this game, rejects me too much.     Joel is laying low and yet goes around telling everyone who he is....where was his carefulness from the first game? He just stopped caring it seems. There was a million ways to have his name known that didnt involve him telling everyone who he js.

    The positive reviewers like to act like they are making good points when arguing why Joel was meant to die. One can argue that Joel deserves to die in order for the plot to move, he was never established as a morally good character and he made a selfish decision which condemned the human race. Some people are angry Joel died and MOST of us are angry about how he died. My take on this would be much different if we were introduced to Abby long before she brutally murders Joel. They set them self up with an insurmountable task of creating empathy for Abby. And they didn't even try, we got a ten minute scene where she saves a Zebra with her father then they reveal Abby is the person who convinced them Ellie should be murdered to save humanity. If the writers are trying to make the player empathize with Abby why would they establish her as the one who condemned Ellie which inevitably led to Joel killing her father?

    Later on in the story we are introduced to Lev who saves Abbys life. This prompts Abby to betray the wolves to save Lev. This decision of Abbys feels like a fruitless attempt by the writers to establish Abby as a morally good character in order to gain empathy from the audience. They're trying to define Abby as selfless contrary to her making numerous selfish decisions. It's hard to say anything for certain about Abby's character because every other decision is conflicting. One moment she is selfless the next she is selfish. When it comes to condemning Ellie her morals are for the good of the many but when it comes to saving Lev her morals are for the good of the few. She gets very angry when she finds out Ellie has killed her friends yet she's already betrayed these friends and was prepared to leave these friends behind to help Lev.

    The story overall is nonsensical and revolves around and characters literally abandoning and losing everything in a fruitless quest for revenge. Both Abby and Ellie quite literally sacrificed everything over avenging the deaths of two people in a world where everyone has lost someone. Death and violence is around almost every corner of this world. Yet for whatever reason these two people are so special our characters travel thousands of miles killing hundreds to enact their revenge. Even after watching the bond which is formed between Joel and Ellie in the first game I have a hard time believing that Joel's death was enough to bring on this murderous rampage. Especially after Joel and Ellie’s rough relationship has been established.

    This world isn't the same world we were put into in the first game. There is no hope in this world, there is only violence and sadness. The violence is so over the top that by the end of the game I was completely numb to it all. The game heavily relies on shock value that was brought about through overly violent and grotesque actions perpetrated towards beloved characters which was so overly used it left me feeling nothing when the game came to it's final conclusion and this mattered the most. At no point were we given any sort of relief or loving character development which gave us respite from the sadness and violence of this world previously. In the first game Ellie provided 90% of this relief from the awful world we were witnessing. But she is now a shadow of her former self, despite spending her years safe and sheltered in a settlement with electricity she has completely lost the spark we saw in the first game. The conclusion of the game is hollow, hundreds die in this needless revenge plot and one singular person being saved who the player has established no empathy for is supposed to bring meaning to all the meaningless violence.    … Expand

    The last of US Part 2 is trash, there's nothing wrong with killing a main character but this is not the way to do it. The history was about Joel and Ellie, but on this game... You play as ellie and trash. Save the money for a better game... This is a vengeance game without vengeance... 1/10 for the visuals.

The problem with this game is that Naughty Dog tries catering towards the LGBTQ community and abandoning it's core values and fans that made this first part so great. I will start with the good aspects. The graphics are unmatched, the best the PS4 has to offer. The AI, the choreography are top notch. The gameplay is very enjoyable. For these aspects I will give it a 4/10. Sadly TLOU2 is a story based game which means it needs a good story for it to succeed. Unfortunately this is where the game loses it's 6 points.
    SPOILERS INCOMING:
    The game starts up just fine, revealing new characters and trying to make them familiar to us.One of those new characters is a transexual woman called Abby. The character development for this character is quite bad. It is a character we know nothing about and once you reach the middle of the game, this character kills Joel because he killed his father in the first part. Thus gamers would expect that we will hunt this Abby down to take revenge for Joel. Instead of this, we get to play as the killer of Joel( Joel the beloved character to the fans that had build a strong bond with because of the first game.) trying to kill the other beloved character for all fans, Ellie. In other words Naughty Dog **** all over the feelings that were developed by fans via the first game, the groundworks that made TLOU 1 one of the most loved games ever. And this happens because for some strange reason the company/developers think that it is a good idea to get a favorable view by the LGBTQ minorities and completely ignore their base fans that made Naughty Dog the company it is today. All in all this game had the chance to become the best Playstation game ever, but some vain ideologies made it into the greatest disaster of the current generation. It's a shame.    … Expand

    You Neil, didn't know jack **** about Joel and depicted him as a shy dadlike character who would'a save a random stranger/follow her and just announce himself in a place full of strangers. I cannot compare this story choice to GOT Season 8 or Star Wars Last Jedi **** show BECAUSE they have a lot of hours of content so maybe that can be justifiable as directors losing consistency over a long shot. This is the second game of the franchise. Who do you think you are to change pace of the story in such if this is 10th season of some Walking Dead like show? This is the second mistake.

    Finally you pushed a political agenda in your game for every inch of an hour. People just want to play their game. They do not want to relate to poorly written characters who just happens to not be cis gender. They just want to play their game because they like the series so much. You could have written literally anything else and it would be worth our while. and you treat your devs who sweat 12 hours a day like robots that third and fourth mistake. I was handed 100 cards full of mistake I just don't have patients to go on.

    Gave myself a good chance to try and enjoy myself when playing this game. Played through twice and still just can't get into the story and the new characters. Game looks great, but the story just sucks.

While one might say that the positive reviews are the true ones, the accounts that have done both positive and negative have only 1 review and were created just today. That being said, you can use that logic to compare the numbers of people willing to make an effort to leave a review to help others who come to this site to see if they want to play the game or not as $60 is quite expensive especially for those who are avid gamers.

    My opinion of this game is that it is not worth paying for and that it is a huge downgrade from the first The Last Of Us. This is because of several factors including, plotholes, forced narrative of revenge that subsides during the climax (Ellie lets Abby go even though she has no character development that led to that conclusion, as she has killed many in her quest for revenge), bad storytelling, forced LGBTQ selling point (Same-gender relationships are fine, no one can define who can be with another but this company has used this relationship as a selling point for the game as it is advertised, and more that will be explained. While the graphics are stellar, character models feel bland, unoriginal, and worse than the first game.

    The bad storytelling and plot holes that I will mention is a specific instance from *Joels death*. Tommy just gives out Joels name and Joel himself mentions his own name even though this is not the carelessness these characters usually display. Joel made sure to kill anyone who knew of him in the first game and yet he gives his name out casually to this group of aggressive people? The death of Joel is forced so there is an incentive for Ellie to start killing and progress the forced story and it just is unbearable as you have to play as the killer (Abby).

    This game just ruins the legacy of the first game left behind and will make me feel sad every time I play the original now, as I will remember the failure of the sequel.    … Expand

    This game has nothing to do with its predecessor. The scenario is horrible, politically oriented and compete nonsense. Where are the infected? The gameplay is average and the graphics have not much improved since episode one. I don't recommend it, as a fan of the first episode, I was deeply disappointed.

The development is fine, save for some technical bugs (which shouldn't have made it into a game which has spent so many years in development, but that's beside the point).     The game tries too hard to subvert your expectations in the most tasteless way. The main writer simply misunderstood what the fans loved about the game. It was always the dynamic of Joe and Ellie alone, not this over the top revenge story that's far-fetched.

Too depressing and melancholic to a point of being self loathing. A terrible shame to see the franchise fall in such a disreputable state and it’s safe to say it’s worth just watching the cutscenes on YouTube to understand the complaints.

    TLOU 1 was a masterpiece near the end of the PS3 genre. Now TLOU2 came out after so many years, with Druckmann being a VP of ND nowadays. Not only he clearly stated that he wanted TLOU2 to be his political statement, it's crammed with propaganda and forced LGBT intereactions. A couple keypoints here:

Not only he clearly stated that he wanted TLOU2 to be his political statement, it's crammed with propaganda and forced LGBT intereactions. A couple keypoints here:

    1: It's pathetic how there are sex scenes in TLOU2 but Sony cherry picked and censors other games and not TLOU2.
    2: A supposedly dystopian game with zombies, but instead it's heavily focused on a trans person.
    3: Druckmann projecting himself in the game, having intercourse.
    4: Critics giving 10/10 to the game for being in bed with Sony. All in the sake of having early views from other journalists.

    Severely disappointed with Naughty Dog and how Druckmann decided to give the middle finger to the franchise's fanbase. This is what you get when you cater to a specific minority group, of which the majority don't bother with videogames AT ALL.    … Expand

Just throwing around bricks and other objects to lure enemies away. It falls flat as a stealth game in comparison to other stealth games. The game could have 15 hours like the first game instead of 25. The story is really bad and full of plot holes. It pretty much insults the characters from the first game. Joel dies a lame death, falls into a predictable trap, lets himself get surrounded by people with guns, and trusts people he just met. His death was horrible, wasn't emotional at all, and didn't have a good compelling death like Arthur Morgan. Bad game and an insult to the original. Naughty Dog should not have fire Amy Hennig so that she could have wrote a good story for the game.     The game world is less interesting, and the story less compelling than the original. A downgrade in all areas, and for a story driven game to have such uninteresting characters, flat dialogue and at times nonsensical plot is unforgivable.
    The core gameplay is at least still solid, but beginning to feel dated. Scenarios are repeated too often, and begin to feel like a chore by the end.

I found official trailers were misleading (specially in reference to one of the main characters) and game play is pretty much the same as the first game , no major changes there except the jump button.     The Last of Us Part 2 es un juego que excede en el nivel técnico, desde la iluminación y modelado de personajes hasta su jugabilidad y opciones de personalización de personajes y armas; se nota un avance de Naughty Dog en su maestria al menos en esta rama. Pero de ahi solo viene un abismo, de como una desarrolladora no solo maltrata a una ip muy querida sino como literalmente escupe a los jugadores.
    Un videojuego no es solamente su aspecto técnico, este tambien esta conformado por las sensaciones que evoca en quienes los jueguen. La tecnología solo es un instrumento para poder dar a conocer esto y la historia permite establecer un trasfondo que permite al jugador identificarse con el juego, pero despues de varias horas en vez de tener una satisfacción solo queda un vacio por las incongruencias que presenta el juego. Si ya de por si es polémica la muerte de Joel a las pocas horas de juego por Abby de una manera brutal ( y por el guiño de un personaje muy parecido en su modelaje a Neil Druckmann que escupe en el cadaver de Joel), no termina de encajar la historai por los abundantes agujeros de guión y de situaciones forzadas y fortuitas que llenan el juego.
    Se nota que Neil metio su propia agenda politica en el juego con la manera en la cual nos narran la historia, la manera en la cual nos hace interactuar a la fuerza con la asesina de Joel. Solo puedo imaginar que un hijo desconocido de Zeus aparezca y de la nada mate a Kratos, y me hagan jugar con el solo para tratar de tener empatia con el.
    Por mas refinado que un juego pueda estar en el apartado técnico, si no entiende la conexión que debe crear con su publico este falla miserablemente en su objetivo como medio de entretenimiento audiovisual y de transmisor de ideas.    … Expand
