the worst part is the tutorial for the new antiquities with both the scrying and excavation elements. It's like a watered down World of Warcraft archaeology but, somehow they've managed to make it worse. Seriously if you were excited about this, the first quest on it in solitude where you help Gabriel will clear that up pretty quickly. The word disappointing doesn't quite define the feeling you get from this, it's just... terrible,

Even after all the delays to get the console version running, it still feels as if they rushed it. If you're going to get it for the PS4 prepare for a very frustrating experience. It was not ready. It shows a lot.

it really does feel as if once you're in the game that someone needs to say "finally you're awake"

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Where nostalgia meets running success, you have the mindset going into the creation of the Greymoor expansion. With this combination of going back to Skyrim afresh and another year-long story like Elsweyr, anyone could have thought that this expansion would be well-received. But as more nostalgia is used against us, and as companies think success means to replicate onward, we find that Greymoor is actually the worst-received expansion because it did exactly what it should not have.

Greymoor feels lacking despite the size of content it brings. Let's weigh the pros and cons.

    Pros:
    1) By introducing Scrying, the entirety of Tamriel and beyond is reinvigorated with travel and wonder as you excavate for antiquities.. Good.

    ...That's it.

    Cons:
    1) Blackreach is a vast, yet empty, cluttered, darkened mess of an environment. The aesthetic wears off within minutes if not immediately seeing in game (if trailers already gave it away). The lackluster display and interaction of Greymoor Keep is additionally saddening. There goes half of the sightseeing. Oh, and prepare to get lost down there.

    2) Skyrim feels full of what we already know--and it desperately tries to shove it all in our face. Great views are hard to come by, but a terrain littered with things in your way drowns your desire to stick around. We wanted something new.

    3) Harrowstorms, a new world event, are even more unsoloable than previous Dragons, as dull as the original Dark Anchors (but without any strong semblance of purpose and these storms last way too long), and have the most red you'll see on your computer screen short of paint bucketing the color on fullscreen MS Paint. You'll be running in circles away from cluster upon cluster of telegraphs and enemies all while wondering when you'll be enjoying your time. Unfun and drab.

    4) Mythic Items. These 1/1 set items allow a lot of versatility, if only there were more than I could count on my hands. 6 were released with Greymoor to all mixed review--since most builds don't appropriately operate with a 1/1 set when 12 or 14 pieces (utilizing 5/5s and 2/2s) are used nice and cleanly. A lot of forethought needs to go into incorporating these items and if it just doesn't work for your build, then this expansion content is effectively useless. A total of 8 will be available by this Chapter's end. The number should have been double that. Let's hope future DLC and Chapters up the number of Mythic items by a lot.

    Neutrals:
    1) You may like a story full of Vampires and Werewolves hell-bent on taking over little Western Skyrim, but the way their plan unfolds may leave much to be desired.

    2) If you like stubborn Nords who kill first and shout questions at the corpse later, you may get a kick out of some dialogue moments.

I skipped Greymoor launch because I didn't expect it to be worthwhile. A shame, because the DLC that preceded it contained two of the best dungeons made in the game's history. I bought the expansion at 50% off a month til the final DLC arrived, finally putting the proverbal nail in this coffin. Let's hope the people at Elder Scrolls Online conclude their year-long stories and focus on the game's imbalance, lack of innovation, and shallow choice options.

Definitely like the new expansion. There's a lot more space to explore, love Blackreach, enjoy the new Vampire rework. Suffered a few bugs and texture glitches but my overall experience was positive.

Although the additional story and expansion of Blackreach is appreciated, as well as a new solo arena, Bethesda n Zeni should play a bit less safe and focus on Argonians for example, as well as work on Elder Scrolls VI.

Eso has a unique opportunity now in its late stage , endgame, to explore and test the possibilites of unexplored and exotic parts of Tamriel so why all the nostalghia .

Why not Akaviri and Yokuda instead of a revisit to Cyrodil next year. Expand the base and the Lore please, and step up the information and work on the larger ES universe.

Dated graphics, boring gameplay loop and way too complicated for newcomers to become invested. Good for existing players who have stuck out but news a big revamp to stay relevant.

The interface on PS4 is nearly unusable too, stick with PC if you do want to jump in.

The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor turned out to be an even more rough addition to the project than Elsweyr, and this says a lot about the current state of ZeniMax Online. Studio clearly needs to take a break and solve the main problems of this game.

With carefully communicated lore, healthy doses of humour here and there, enjoyable new activities, and an abundance of content, this expansion has us falling in love with TESO all over again. [Issue#178, p.80]

Though The Elder Scrolls Online: Greymoor represents a good jumping in point for lapsed players and newcomers alike, it sticks a little too rigidly to its shopworn design tendencies to really excel, while elsewhere, a smattering of bugs threaten to take the sheen off what is otherwise a highly entertaining expansion to one of the better MMORPGs on the market.
