    I was looking forward to this game but ultimately overall, I felt it was a disappointing experience. I just felt the horror adventure wasn't that interesting in the end and the characters were kind of annoying and uninteresting. Just when the game was getting more interesting, it ended.     Overall the best of the 3 I will agree, with a number of welcome improvements like individual difficulty. I also liked how they made it so that some characters choices could negatively impact other characters rather than themselves in this one which I don't believe was ever the case previously, your choices generally only applied to your own survival. I also liked how they included some narration via documents in this one kinda similar to the narration you got as you found clues in until dawn, it really makes it a lot nicer than reading paragraphs of text that for the most part isn't that interesting. Where it kinda disappointed for me was the scare value, this is definitely the least creepy of the bunch at least in the playthrough we did. Movies like the decent were able to deliver some really tense and creepy moments but this one unfortunately seemed a bit more of an adventure game than the kind of creepiness im used to from the previous entries which is a part of why I chose these. I'm hoping the next one which seems to involve a modern day seriel killer isnt similar in style to hidden agenda. I like hidden agenda quite a bit despite its flaws and would be interested in trying an improved version but if I want that style of game I'll play it, I play the dark pictures anthology for scares. Overall though as many have said they're going in the right direction, I feel like with more funding they could really expand it out to until dawn levels. Hopefully the next few will get there as popularity grows. Also it would be nice if they threw in a new mechanic at some point. The types of things the game asks you have been pretty much the same for 3 games now. Experienced players likely have it down fairly well which is why increased difficulty is a nice option but it would still be nice to see something fresh thrown in occasionally.… Expand

    Just when I was sure that Supermassive Games will not make the same mistakes for the 3rd time in a row, they ended up delivering a game even worse than Man of Medan. I wonder if these guys have been doing anything but indulging one another for the last years? Because it's obvious they're not even trying to impress. Making a mediocre game at best is now their quality bar.     I became a fan of this developer for tons of unique and interesting things they did. The developer just made me happy by representing Salim (muslim character) as a good- no as a best character. Most of the western media often portrayed Muslims as suicide bombers/extremists/backward until now.     Love how they didn't showed whether usa or iraq good/bad but rather depicted that war is never good. Love how they showed despite the war, people of the conflicting countries are not hostile as the war. They also showed how gov is the main culprit in almost all cases. They even showed the actual tragic reality of soldiers like how they get mistreated in the worst of the worst way by gov despite soldiers sacrificing their bodies & mental health to war for the sake of the country. Their rest of their life get massacred by gov even after war where they were supoosed to be handled with utmost care and respect    … Expand

    The game is like an 8.5 nowhere near until dawn level anything but that’s okay because you can’t always the expect the best. The character graphics are a downgrade since until dawn and animations can be weird. The story is good and the last 2 hours are really entertaining. Eventually, I play for some of them, they are interesting, they are charismatic, and when, after a billion attempts to save them, to keep them alive, the game is like: 'oh, I'm sorry, they'll die anyway, you can't do anything here do'.     Очень много ненормативной лексики в русской озвучке... ну очень много. Сюжет как из боевиков 90-ых годов, много шуток ниже пояса. Слабенькая игра. Если бы не диалоги, то еще может и доиграл.

    "The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes" is indeed a game full of horrors - unfortunately, you may just not find it where you´d really expect it. Mostly uninteresting characters and a boring story without any notable scares make the third entry in the series the weakest to date. It´s really hard to imagine how the franchise is attempting to survive another five years of sequels when"The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes" is indeed a game full of horrors - unfortunately, you may just not find it where you´d really expect it. Mostly uninteresting characters and a boring story without any notable scares make the third entry in the series the weakest to date.     House of Ashes is definitely the best part of The Dark Pictures antology at the time of its release. House of Ashes got the most out of Until Dawn in terms of cutting, scene tension and scenario.     Just finished up The Dark Pictures Anthology: House of Ashes, did it co-op with a friend, and it was definitely a fun experience but all over the place story wise. The visuals were pretty good but the motion capture was definitely a little odd looking and there were definitely a good amount of glitches, even though they were funny.     The most worked characters with different and interesting personalities (the main part of such games I think), the updated gameplay, more interesting choices and the more structured storytelling in general.     My one major complaint about the game is that it seems to be having a lot of glitch issues, primarily with loading the texture of the backgrounds and character features (ex. sometimes the blood and grime on Rachel's face disappeared, or didn't load). Story-wise, the situation between Nick, Eric, and Rachel had me rolling my eyes a little too.

    Other than that?     The best chapter in the entire Dark Pictures anthology. An interesting, dynamic adventure, which at the end captures so much that it is impossible to break away. Keep it up! I hope the following parts will also increase the level

    Graphic looks so much better than previous games. Characters are really interesting unlike man of medan. Overall everythink improved. Salim and jason are THE BEST. Actually best of the best

    Definitely the best entry in the series so far. Better story, more interactive and overall looks better. Still lacking what Until Dawn had but this is still a good time despite the many texture pop-ins that would frequently break immersion.

The plot with the alien and vampire is amazing and for the first time since until dawn the story make sense and is scary. Couldn't be more excited for the next game! The only thing i want to see improve is the character... But the restt is good… Expand

    First of all the game is shortest part of all, story is really bad and there is no tension like in previous games of this series. Beside of that the game have technical problems like blocking every time when you try to pickup some secret or other item, your character gonna freeze and you just need to wait until it’s unfreeze.     Def not worth paying the full price tag but for 15-20$, It is an absolute blast. Really (and suprisingly) enjoyed this game. That being said, this "Until Dawn" kind of slow and story/choices driven gameplay isn't for everyone.

    Overall if you’ve played a Dark Picture Anthology game, you know what to expect with House of Ashes. They seem to all play around the same but have different stories and gameplay circumstances. Whether the story is good or not, or characters are interesting or boring is all left up to opinion for the most part. One thing is for sure though – if you’re a horror fan, you really need to get into this series, because it has some great stories to tell and some nice moments of horror to share. House of Ashes is my personal favorite of the Dark Pictures games so far and it definitely rivals Until Dawn. It’s hard to say it’s better than Until Dawn, because they both have their ups and downs, but it’s definitely a contender.

    House of Ashes offers an engaging story and does a wonderful job in creating a ghastly setting, leaving you in a world full of dark and frightening secrets. If you are a fan of survival horror genre, House of Ashes won't disappoint you.
