With an interesting premise, Submerged delivers a beautiful post apocalyptic world with a subtle but intriguing story. But its repetitive minute to minute gameplay makes it hard to go through it.

I don't say I wouldn't recommend it but if you want to try it, go with measured expectations.

This game is a real gem. My kids found this on PSN and convinced me to download it. After watching my daughter sail around the overgrown urban decay I started playing it myself. Submerged is truly beautiful. Visually of course, but I am finding the combination of the music and the way the story is delivered is really touching.

I have grown a bit tired of brown hued wastelands.

I have grown a bit tired of brown hued wastelands. Don't get me wrong, I have been a fan of the Fallout series since the beginning and I find post-apocalyptic worlds really compelling. But Submerged's lush green world, full of life, offers a refreshing alternative.

I am finding this to be an intriguing experience so far with mystery, and maybe menace, lying behind what seems like tranquility. This game now sits along side Journey as an example for my non-gaming friends of what games can strive for.

The basic idea of Submerged is great, especially the combat-free part, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. For starters, it's a $10 game that costs $20. I don't just mean the wall climbing and boat steering (the game's two main/only activities), I mean everything. Every model. Every texture. Every corroded sea creature. It's just so little actual content. There is one kind of wall to climb. There is one kind of flowered vine to climb. The ledge, the game's real star, comes in two varieties - kind of worn and very worn. Everything is the same colour. Every half submerged building looks like every other half submerged building. None of the animals are very inspired or imaginative, though there are eight total. Or maybe I'm the weirdo, for not getting more excited about seeing a virtual pelican. You know what, I take it back, this isn't a $10 game masquerading as a $20 game, it's an $8 game, masquerading as a $20 game. And not a particularly good one. If you do find yourself curious, despite the many available warnings, I would strongly suggest you wait for Submerged to be half the price it should have launched at in the first place, which would be $4. You start the game out in a submerged city with your little brother
The objective to the game is to heal his wound
You do this by going out into the city to find supplies on top of various buildings
and you get to the top by climbing prince of Persia style, minus the fancy flips and jumps
    And that’s it
    This is the game.
When you find supplies you are rewarded with a chunk of the origins story, of why what happened happened to get you to the point in the story you begin with
Its up to you to decipher and this mystery story is actually pretty dark
also along your journey you’ll find boat upgrades that increase the amount of time you can use a speed boost, you’ll find a handful of creatures and you’ll find the cities secrets which much like main story is finding these cave like paintings of the cities story.
So there’s 2 stories here, but oddly enough the stories seem pretty parallel
and neither of the 2 are worth the effort to learn about
I went into this game excited and left disappointed and cheated of my time
There is no fun, no pay off.
The ambient music is good, but really that’s it
    for what it is

Submerged is like you feel while you play with charming graphics and perfect sounds, BUT you feel the programing is not finished, at least the price is not equal to the programing labour, so basic movement commands in a free-puzzles platform game. It's a pity (not to me) because with a few models more in the map and some puzzle to reach the crates more than a simplicity logic.

the game is ok but it was not worth the $15-$20.
Graphics were that of the ps3 games when they first started out. it looked like and ps4 version of gravity rush.
Sound was to bad but there was a thump when she walked around, started to get annoying. Gamplay was like an old ps1 game search and find. not much fun and the story was simple but the main thing i never understood, why the ****

Gamplay was like an old ps1 game search and find. not much fun and the story was simple but the main thing i never understood, why the **** is this gear help her brother out, cause he was sevrely injured, backwards. by that I mean she put bandages on the wound then she wants to stiich it and after that then she wants to clean it. why is it she knows all this medical knowledge and physical strength to scale these giant structures but does actually does it backwards.
I know she a kid but even kids know to at least clean an injury first she did that like close to the end.

its worth a look at but wait till its either free or goes more down in price

If you can get this game on sale it's not bad. The game is very short, but it contains some puzzles, and exploring. It's not the prettiest pennies out there, but it can be enjoyable to play. If you can snatch it up cheap, it is not bad.

I was skecptical at first. No foes, no combat, no way to die? Turns out it was exactly what I needed. Very relaxing game. I enjoyed exploring everywhere while continuing with the story. Picked it up at a slight discount and definitely got my money's worth.

This game literally was on sale and the trailer looked pretty good and enticing. I do like the ambiance in the background and interaction between wildlife. Didn't take long to get used to the controls, but once you climb the construction crane you get a better picture of what you are supposed to do in this game and maybe realize the mysterious past of what this city used to be.

Gave this game a 5 mainly because the game got kind of boring after the third crate in until you see the mysterious creatures and your interested a little more but then you realize you're still doing the same thing over and over.

Beat it in an hour. Not bad. Just not really "fun"

The game’s dystopian, drowned burg a pleasure to explore. It’s just a pity the engine is a little bit of a shambles. [November 2015, p78]

Awkward platforming that feels like being submerged in a sea of treacle. [Oct 2015, p.81]

Despite good premises, Submerged is a boring and brief game, with a farraginous gameplay and some technical problems, where the only purpose is to find and pick up objects.
