If you enjoy playing games don't waste your money on this game. If it was £3.99 it MIGHT be worth a purchase just to complete your Star Wars collection on your PS4. Other than that keep away. Trash.

Do not waste your money with this game. I can see why it would appeal to older fans based purely on nostalgia, but this game the way it controls, the AI and the story is just awful.

Please do not give money to this outdated, horrible controlled, **** AI'd blunder. I would have hated this as a kid. Boring simple combat for a game that doesn't tell you how to do half the things it wants you to. Waste of £20

Reviewing a Remaster is hard as am I reviewing the game or the port?

Anyway, I've been waiting to re-play this game for some time as it was a very popular game for me when I was about 10 years old. I'd been put off re-playing on PC due to it's square 4:3 aspect ratio, however Aspyr finally made a port to PS4 with Widescreen 1080p support, so I just knew this was the the moment I was

I have never touched the Multiplayer.. so this is a review of the single player only.

Gameplay: The gameplay is pretty good, it has a light RPG feel to it giving you the option to create your own character, create own lightsaber & choose your own force power skill tree! - The game also lets you take guns into missions, but why you would bother is beyond me as the shooting is pretty diabolical! - The lightsaber combat is pretty good, I just wish their was a way to properly block attacks rather than this auto-block which is temperamental at best - But slicing off limbs never gets old!
I played on Jedi Knight difficulty and it was a real struggle I have to say!

Story: The story is pretty poor, a student who in a matter of weeks becomes a full blown Jedi Knight after a few small errand missions seems a little far fetched! - it does offer you both Jedi & Sith options with alternative endings but don't play this game if you're looking for a deep & rich narrative.

Graphics: I was surprised how crisp the textures were in this game! and like I said before the 1080P widescreen is a much welcomed addition! - The audio is a little off too.. so play with the settings till it feels comfortable.

    Suggested Amendments:
    1. The menu is so poor and dated, you can't even scroll the descriptions during mission briefings!
    2. Saving is a problem, yes the game has checkpoints, but when it has a save at any point feature, why bother with it! - It also gives you no option to overwrite save so you just stack multiple saves & then have to delete when it caps out - This would have been nice to fix
    3. I'd have liked some warning that using cheats disables trophies.
    4. Jedi Master difficulty was virtually unplayable, Rosh died in the first level because he jumped to high & killed himself.. this should have been resolved really.

Overall this is a 'popcorn game' something just to chill out and play as and when you like, not like a serious AAA title that you make special efforts for. The game has aged okay, but not well.. doesn't help we've had Jedi: Fallen Order which blows games like this out of the water by clear miles!

If you want. a quick game, don't care for story.. then I'd say yeah go for it, especially if you have nostalgia for this game.. if you're new to Jedi Academy, you may want to wait for a sale & pick it up cheap.

One of the best Jedi games you can play, no other game has the control you can choose over your Force powers and Light Sabers. Just wish they would make a modern followup or reboot.

Even Thoe i did complain about it in outcast, but now the levels frels like it is build for this controllstyle. And the multiplayer, god the multiplayer is fun. The multiplayer is completely dead, and I'm very disappointed in the gameplay experience. I didn't play the original, as I didn't have an X-Box, but I'm not sure why this game is viewed so highly. Without mods, it's an utter snooze fest.

If the studio decided to add console mod support, my score would rise exponentially. But as for now, only get this if it's below $5.

This game has got best lightsaber fighting of all time, storyline was good (you will better understand storyline if you played jedi outcast and dark forces)

It's hard to judge some of these old games. The gameplay is very clunky and archaic by today's standards, but it's only fair to review a game in the context of the time that it came out. Significantly better gameplay, especially lightsaber fighting, than Outcast. Less horrible platforming. There's even some minor RPG elements like choosing missions, weapons, and powers.

All in all, I feel like they were just milking the series after Jedi Knight. That's the only one I would really recommend playing.

The PS4 version of Jedi Academy offers an opportunity to relive a prestigious Star Wars video game classic but sadly delivers little else. This nostalgic snack will no doubt scratch the itch for fans of the franchise but with an outdated, deserted multiplayer mode and an abundance of bugs and other technical issues, brings very little to justify the steep asking price for the game.

Jedi Academy was always the best Star Wars game until Fallen Order came along but it still stands up today thanks to its brilliant combat and decent story.

Unlike the Jedi Outcast port, Jedi Academy includes the multiplayer component. It’s been brought forward to the new age exactly as it once was, which means all of the jank and lack of balancing are still present. Don’t let that stand in your way though. Despite the relative lack of polish, wildly swinging lightsabers at one another is a blast. The multiplayer is just as fun as you remember it being.
