    It's the same great game as on the PC. The controls take a little getting used to but if you've played any FPS on a console it is pretty much the same for the most part.

    Having played the PC version of this game almost 20 years ago, I was excited to revisit it. Apparently, it really doesn't hold up and getting through it without cheat codes (which is how I did it as a kid) was brutal!

    For the first few levels there are no force powers/lightsaber, which makes sense in the story (kind of?) but for a game with the word "jedi" in the title twice is    Having played the PC version of this game almost 20 years ago, I was excited to revisit it. Apparently, it really doesn't hold up and getting through it without cheat codes (which is how I did it as a kid) was brutal!

    For the first few levels there are no force powers/lightsaber, which makes sense in the story (kind of?) but for a game with the word "jedi" in the title twice is completely nuts. So I thought "once I get a lightsaber this game is going to be way more fun!"

    So I clawed my way through the first two chapters dying every five minutes because the shooting in this game is really difficult for you and easy for the enemies. And then (finally) they set you up with a bunch of force powers and your lightsaber! Here's the problem-All of the enemies have a habit of backpedaling when you get close and your lightsaber animation takes just long enough that you wind up swinging at the air, or the enemies are holding bombs that explode when you kill them up close (and throwing those bombs 200ft with laser precision to kill you in one hit), or there are snipers that you can't kill with your lightsaber so you have to switch weapons and snipe them back. All in the first level with your lightsaber! The developers didn't even build up to the difficult parts!

    And so I thought "The game will be better once I get the fast-style lightsaber swings and the Rank 3 Force Powers". So I slogged and slogged, dealing with the lame story and many instant death platforming sections (complete with floaty controls). And then once you get all your rank 3 force powers, they start to throw rocket launchers and swimming in to the mix! (Swimming is apparently difficult because you automatically shut off your lightsaber when submerged-so you can't attack or defend against quite a few of the enemies in one of the later chapters)

    Throughout all this, just figuring out how to progress through the level is crazy. I eventually caved and started reading walkthroughs so I wouldn't pull my hair out-only to find that I needed to hit one little switch that was hidden somewhere eight rooms back or find a hidden vent by climbing up on some pipes or use night vision goggles (that they never mention as being in your inventory, let alone a crucial item to progress).

    I think the main takeaway is that, with older games, the developers didn't care if you had fun with it once you paid your money. And at the time we didn't know any better. Not a good game to revisit, unless you are willing to cheat your way through.    … Expand

    Heute noch ist das Spiel immer noch wunderbar. Die Umgang mit Laserschwerter fühlen sich viel besser an, als irgendwelche battlefront oder Force unleashed Spiele

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. first of all i love the "Dark Forces / Jedi Knight" Series, and out of all the Jedi Knight games , Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast is my favorite, i used to play it alot of my old pc back in the day, also back in the day when activision wasn't such a greedy publisher, and star wars games were made with passion and love by raven soft (poor raven soft are today doing nothing but 'call of duty' garbage!).
    anyway "Aspyr" i think did a great job porting the pc version to ps4 consoles (also on switch). smooth 60fps and sort-of widescreen support with back bars around the screen (probably to keep the framerate stable) i only have one major flaw that slowed the game down completely. the CONTROLS!!!. i don't know why Aspyer didn't bother implementing the ps4 controls properly, cause in the first half of the game you only have you're arsenal of weapons and you have to aim and shoot and on the second half of the game you're finally get to be a Jedi with you're lightsaber and force powers (which is more natural to play with controls since you're mostly in third-person mode). anyway due to how clunky and annoying the controls are, i died so many times on the first few missions due to missing every shot to hit a freaking stormtrooper! and unable to dodge enemy projectiles, it was soo frustrating to the point i have take it one step at the time (like if this was a strategy game), unlike the pc version which i played (even on hard mode) and it was so much easy to control with a keyboard and mouse. you have to get use to these controls otherwise play the pc version. also the multiplayer mode was removed as well. bottom line great port, just have to get use to play with a controller.    … Expand

    The PS4 portation Looks amazing!!! Really love this game . But the controls... you have to get used to.

    If this game had Toggle Crouch, it'd be a 9. Excellent throwback. Aiming is a little off, though, just as it should be.

    I love this game so much!!! It's like a love letter to star wars fans. In my opinion the best star wars game after kotor

    If you've not got the kind of patience to deal Jedi Outcast's dismal level design and dull first few hours, then you'd be missing out on some of the best combat to grace a Star Wars game ever. Even 17 years later, Jedi Outcast is still a lot of fun to play even if it really tries hard to not be.

    Jedi Outcast then is still capable of delivering modest morsels of Star Wars infused fun, it's just a shame that while the lack of effort which has been made with the port justifies its budget price, it does not make magically make a 2002 title equally as compelling in 2019. Here's hoping that next year's remaster of Star Wars Jedi Knight III: Jedi Academy is better, because the force is not quite so strong with this one.
