Very much like the PC version ( which is still in Early Access mind you) a port of an unfinished game ala Chasing Dead. You could simply take the PC reviews for the game and apply them here. Repetitive hack and slash at its finest.

Gameplay consists of running through empty wastelands reminiscent of Ocarina of time's empty Hyrule feild combined with the lifeless hub worlds of sonic 2006 or ride to hell with a new coat of paint. The occational horde mode with a damage sponge boss at the end. Combat is dynasty warriors style 5 step move process with nothing impressive. You wont get Platinum game level of over the top action as you want that the series is known for. Please leave chracter action antics to japanese dev teams of killer is dead or Revengence kindly.

On the possitive side voice acters from the show return to play each of their own characters portrayal in the show in the game. At the time of this review its unclear if they will add the japanese voice cast. Music is top notch. Instrumentals plays every now and then of the series trademark songs. There is also 4 player co-op to play the other characters: Yang who plays like a watered down Blacker Barron, Weiss' elemental magic Rapier,
And Blake's cool shadow abilities and unusual but cool roped bladed weapons. A very much needed change of pace visually from the cliche scythe gun hybrid used by Ruby.

Rwby: Grimm Eclipse is an unfinished tech demo or beta and if this is considered the final product of development greenlighted then that is simply unacceptable. When Rwby came out people were confused if it was anime or not. Grimm Eclipse makes me wonder if this is a finished game or not. Fans of the series deserve better.

Let me start this review by saying that I was looking very forward to Grimm Eclipse, and had held off on watching any game-play or previews before purchasing. I am a fan of the on-going series on which it is based on, and I realised the potential for a video game quite early on during the original trailers. Grimm Eclipse had a good base to work up from and surprisingly, it falls very short. The game in it's current state is very unfinished, and feels more like an early access/pre-alpha test than a complete game, yet they've already released DLC for it.

There are multiple glitches - some game breaking, even. More on that in a few. - along with instances of the frames dropping and the screen even freezing at points. The bugs are quite frequent, but usually not too difficult to deal with, but there is one that has plagued my play-through, not allowing me past the second mission. Upon starting the third mission, the camera does not follow my character, making it so that I can't see where I'm going beyond a certain point, making the game unplayable past that point.

The game comes with a single player option, but I highly recommend ignoring it, as playing by yourself in this game doesn't make it very enjoyable. Friends, if you can get them to buy the game with you, are recommended. Playing with randoms is also recommended over playing by yourself.

The combat is extremely dull and repetitive, every encounter becoming mostly the same thing with a different background. The difference between characters is minuscule, mostly acting as different skins. Along with that, you'll find that all of their ultimate attacks (with the exception of one, that being Jaune) are AoE's. After an hour of playtime, if you're not a hardcore fan of RWBY and are willing to look past this, you'll probably become bored.

On the plus side, the models are extremely alike their show counterparts. On the negative side to that, they are completely emotionless. The different levels you visit, although rather diverse, aren't exactly much to look at. Multiple different colours can only hide the lack of detail for so long before people begin to notice.

Something the game does well is it's OST, taking instrumental versions of tracks from the show, performed by the brilliant Jeff Williams and Casey Lee Williams, and popping them into the game when you're in battle. My first instance of this was with an instrumental version of 'Caffeine', and I was pleasantly surprised to hear it.

Upon loading the game for the first time, you'll find that you're not going to get a tutorial. The game simply throws you in and doesn't tell you the controls. Although the controls are simple, it was rather jarring coming from another game straight into this with no idea what was going on.

Hardcore RWBY fans will find something to like in this game, either the voice acting done by the original cast, the good looking models, or possibly even the story. Though, people just coming into the RWBY series, or are not familiar with it at all, may have a hard time enjoying this game. Even with it's £15 price tag, I would not recommend picking it up until Rooster Teeth update the game to give it more content, replayability, and bug fixes.

Edit 15/10/17: It's been a while since release, and I can't help but want to come back to this review. The game hasn't improved, the only new thing I've seen going back to it is some new DLC for Team JNPR, and that was a while back itself. As far as I know, the game is dead, which is extremely depressing for someone who was extremely excited for the game beforehand. Ah, well. Lets hope the next RWBY game is better, and isn't something like, hmm... A board game? Surely not.

It's not a bad game. Most Hack N Slash games don't have any base or storylines. RWBY did quite well with that, though, their could've had more such as cutscenes or a broader plot. In fact, the only Hack N Slash game that was pretty damn good was DMC: Devil May Cry. Otherwise, RWBY is decent. And you've gotta remember, the game is made by Rooster Teeth... an animation company. They'd don't specialize in video games.

I agree, hen game feels quite unfinished. Rooster Teeth could definitely do better. Honestly, I don't think RWBY Grimm Eclipse is finished... meaning I'm sure they will add more and more to the game. I think it was rushed, both the game and the release. They should've release a beta, one for the viewers and fans to try. Once they got reviews on that, they could improve.

Anyways, to conclude, that's just MY opinion. Could the game be better? Definitely. But it isn't terrible.

this is part of my last review. think about the layout of your upgrades. finally the game price 20 bucks is decent i mean you could by worst games at a higher price like umbrella corps for 30 so in short the game is decent and buy it you can spare 20 dollers.

I'm just going to be frank. This game is pretty decent. The combat is fun enough, with utilizing the team attacks and super moves being rather satisfying. One complaint I see is its lack of polish, which I can overlook seeing as how the developers were rather inexperienced while developing the game, in addition to the relatively low budget. In essence, RWBY: Grimm Eclipse is a decent hack 'n slash game that, despite its flaws, is fairly fun. Though, it is more intended for fans of the show. Expand

No esta mal si quieres pasar el tiempo, no obstante el precio debería bajarse algo mas de lo indicado en la store.

There's a germ of a good idea in RWBY: Grimm Eclipse. The counter system alone makes this button-masher feel more refined. However, the rest of it — the presentation, the actual gameplay, and the lack of story — does such a terrible job at supporting this system that the overall game feels unfinished. Only a handful of fans may be fine with the title, but everyone else can easily ignore this offering.

Grimm Eclipse isn’t a bad game but it’s not a good game either. It’s just an okay game. Aspects of it show promise and that the developers at Rooster Teeth Games are capable of delivering a fast paced action title with responsive controls. They just need either more time or perhaps a bigger budget (maybe both) to deliver on their potential.
