Excellent fast paced game which I want to give 8.5 points resulting in a 8 this time because it is rather short. Overall you fight your way with swords and guns of various types encountering regular mobs and bosses. The bosses are nice but some are very repetitive in its appearance. Over all I liked the game a lot but it took only around 6hrs to get through it in normal mode with some additional stuff on my way. I would recommend grabbing this game at a slight to bigger discount then it is absolutely worht your time. If you are used to faster paced twin stick games and you like cyberpunked themes you will have a blast with this game.

The gameplay is challenging but not unfair, it's similar to Hotline Miami but with a lot more energy and excitement and tons of Boss fights. The music is spectacular, the sfx are also great. Amazing character designs..Side characters and story keep are pretty interesting and keeps me wanting more...My one negative so far is that i wish they had different images cycle through when characters interact instead of just having a static image that doesn't move. I pray that this game gets a sequel. This cyberpunk setting is great and we need more games set in it. Expand

    Twin stick greatness
Ruiner is a cyberpunk styled twin stick shooter set in the year 2091, you play as a sociopath out to save your kidnapped brother... This game was designed to be brutally difficult and has even gotten flak from other reviewers for being so tough… But this game actually has difficulty settings... and if you set your ego aside and play on the games easy mode

But this game actually has difficulty settings... and if you set your ego aside and play on the games easy mode which is designed to be just the right amount of challenging...
This 5 hour game can be insanely fun, satisfying and hard to put down…
This game features 16 levels total and each level really looks and feels the same…
But the game is so fun to play that you hardly notice as you’re going batman on the enemies surrounding you to this games amazing soundtrack…
Enemies have a variety of weapons they carry all of which you can pick up and use on the fly…
at first you have a shield and you’re able to dash as well as use a melee weapon and a ruiner gun with infinite ammo, and of course enemies are all carrying better weapons…
getting used to combat can take a little while, but once you do you feel like a superhero, snatching up new weapons and looking at your surroundings while the game briefly goes into slow motion
defeating enemies will award you karma, which can also be found in chests, and extra weapons laying around after a fight can be put into a weapon grinder for karma as well..
    This is essentially your experience…
and you level up in ruiner at a very satisfying pace, the game doesn’t feel grindy once…
Managing your skill points and crafting your ruiner around your playstyle is where the greatness of this game comes in...
You have a variety of choices on where you can dump you skill points into and if you’re not happy with your choices you can take skill points back at any time... you’re not stuck dealing with it…
a lot of your skills such as grenades and your shield use up your energy, but you can unlock the ability to spend your energy on health regeneration, you can spend your health on energy regeneration…
by the games end my character felt like a tank as id be using energy for grenades and health but I had the perk of shooting refilling my energy…
this came really late in game, the final couple of levels.. but I felt unstoppable with this chain of abilities I worked my way up to…
there are also robots that will drop in with gifts like energy, health, and weapon drops…
where the real challenge comes into play is with this games bosses.. It’s filled with mini and main bosses that definitely take effort to defeat... but this game is great with its checkpoints… letting you hop right back in with all of your health and ammo back to give it another shot…
The game on its easy mode felt perfectly balanced.. I was challenged and I was having fun…
but of course you can go into a hire difficulty If you’re more about frustration... the point is the option is there to play this game the way you want…
    Ruiner is a tad underrated..
If you’re a twin stick shooter fan don’t skip it...
    I give Ruiner
    an 8/10

The best game I have played in a long time. Incredibly difficult yet incredibly addictive, Ruiner has you continuously dying, yet the slow load times, frequent checkpoints, and lack of having to watch cutscenes over and over again means every time you do die, you jump straight back in. It looks incredible. Soundtrack is fantastic. Characters, although not overly developed, look awesome.

All in all, I loved playing through this game, and at $20, its great value for money.

Great cyberpunk adventure! Super dynamic combat system, beautiful graphics, fat beat and crazy creeps. This is a new quality in top down action games!

I found this to be an awesome twin stick shooter ,the action ,environment, setting and story was good ( but not amazing)
Note that tis game is challenging , if you got no experience with twin stick shooters you are going to have a hard time with this game, easy mode will be the best for everyone ,harder modes are challenging, which I like
    A must have

Ruiner is a game made by BillyBadAss Developers who think all you need is edgy, stylised violence to make a game.

It features an unnecessary amount of perks, clunky controls, abilities you literally do not need to ever unlock and an empty, pointless hub area which serves as nothing but a time waster.
I paid $6.00 for it and I did enjoy the first couple of levels but then it just became monotonous and I wanted it over.
That and the continual graphical stuttering, as in total freezes for about half a second which are not part of gameplay, id say unless you fawn over wanton violence, give this a hard pass.

This game is very stylish and a lot of fun. The game play is high paced and addictive, the art style is gorgeous and it has a nice cyberpunk setting and story going for it. One of the few games I immediately replayed after I finished it.

Dark, stylish, crazy cyberpunk trip. The artstyle, and the world are unique and atmospheric. Music is godlike, whole ost really immerse you in the game. Challenging and sometimes even tough gameplay. A lot of options to fight through your enemies and building your character: you can switch between your skills and style of play right in the game.

The game is short, and I would be happy to have more activities not related to fighting (like hacking cats around the city). But all in all this game is a bright, fun experience for a couple of evenings, and a new favorite soundtrack.

Love the atmosphere of this game, good OST and good gameplay, especially when fights get so chaotic that it can become hard to tell what is going on, but the BRUTALITY and MAYHEM on display is awesome. This is a true Cyberpunk world and experience, unlike CyberGarbage 2077 made by CDPRekt.

Great game. The artwork, gameplay, and soundtrack work extremely well together. The story is credible and does the job. Fiyatına göre gayet güzel bir oyun. Zaten DEVOLVER digital rüştünü ispatlamış harika bir firma. Denenmeli, hikaye anlatımı, zaman zaman zorlayıcı olması çok keyifli bir hale getirmiş.

Super fun, run and gone matrix like future. It definitely kept me entertained, but that was it. There wasn’t a lot of debt and besides the main story (and the cats) I felt like l had nothing to do. Lots of infilled potential....but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t fun as hell.

A roughhouse riot when you find its rhythm, alternating between bloody attacks and essential damage avoidance, Ruiner may be little more than the sum of its parts, but what parts they are. [Dec 2017, p.97]

Ruiner has some great set pieces and a dark, bleak world that I would normally gravitate towards. Yet when the dystopian renders everyone inhabiting it to be as relatable as raw sewage, there was little for me to latch onto. Maybe you’ll find the world of Ruiner to be more bearable than I did, but even the best films of the genre have a glimmer of hope for the audience to cling to, something Ruiner is devoid of.

This feeling of style over substance largely describes Ruiner in total — the aesthetics are on point, but style alone can’t carry a game. It’s a shame that it fizzles out so soon after starting, but I’m left with the sense that this studio will be turning out great things in the future… they’re just not quite there yet. If their next project manages to bring gameplay as rich as their visuals, it’ll be a real crackerjack.
