    For many years I have wanted to learn to play guitar and have fooled around with chords and tabs in noncontinuous fashion, taking progressively longer breaks from playing as a result of piss-poor progress. Rocksmith has completely changed this! Learning guitar is a challenging practice, as with any meaningful craft or art. Rocksmith has completely changed this! Learning guitar is a challenging practice, as with any meaningful craft or art. Rocksmith is not of course some Matrix-Karate-Rom software magically providing you with years of unearned practice and muscle memory. What Rocksmith does is give you the best modern forum for learning guitar, providing you with note-to-note feedback, consistently enjoyable practice, and feeling musicianship at all stages of a reasonable and sound development of mastery through playing.

    After only two weeks of play, I am comfortable with chords and riffs I never have been able to achieve in years of self-training, and putting in more practice hours than I could have hoped. The amount of practice and the variety of skills encountered, organically and without self-motivated efforts of printing out tabs, finding rhythm, and listening to songs on repeat, is maybe the most effective aspect of Rocksmith. You will play along with songs, in a challenging, fair and progressive manner, having that guitar-hero feel while actually playing guitar. There still is, or at least can very much be pursued, the video game vibe; but you are developing skills off the screen. Skills that otherwise feel like a chore, or even worse, unattainable.

    I will warn however, I did not find some aspects of the software totally intuitive. This is for the most part due to the acclimating to the use of Rocksmith as a multi-functional tool where you have to decide how best to progress and how best to learn. For instance, the main 'Learn a Song' mode for me was not enough to actually learn a song. As you get better with a current scaled difficulty, it will just keep on ramping up, and once I could do reasonably well at a section it wasn't long before it becomes harder and not feasible for me to accomplish at this level. These constant obstacles reflect the nature of learning a craft though, in being challenged beyond your current skill-set, and not the nature of video games!! Rocksmith gives you the tools: once I defaulted to and played with the RIFF REPEATER mode, I gained a 100-fold confidence in Rocksmith's ability to provide me the tools for learning guitar. You have (near complete control over the learning experience with this tool, e.g. section difficulty, song portion, and speed (being the most important), I was able to become comfortable new skills which I then brought back to 'regular' arcade play.
    However, in relying on Riff-Repeater, I eventually saw this tool as being somewhat limited, and wished for even more narrow control over the specific sections to practice. I think, while it does the trick, it could still be improved.

    The one aspect of the experience I feel is still left more to my own burden, is strumming patterns and to a certain extent proper form. There really is no indication or guidance on how to properly strum. I think, even if feedback on strumming patterns is too difficult or convoluted to implement, there still could easily be include some indication or reference for song-specific strumming patterns. However, I think this is and has always been true of guitar. I do hope people buy and use Rocksmith, because I am definitely invested in the expansion of this product and am certain the developers can implement more refined and comprehensive learning tools.

    In it's current state, the software is still exceptional. Rocksmith can provide anyone who is interested in learning guitar the ability to do so. Perhaps most amazing, is that not only is playing guitar with Rocksmith immensely enjoyable, but the learning experience itself is absurdly effective.    … Expand

    LAG MAKES THE GAME UNPLAYABLE.
    I did try (as recommended by manufacturer) HDMI for video only and a digital optical cable for the audio (through my Bose sound system). There is still too much lag to play. I visibly have to hit the string earlier so the system will recognize at the right time. If playing freely, I'll be playing the 3rd note when the system is recognizing (and playing) the    LAG MAKES THE GAME UNPLAYABLE.

    have never played guitar before, but loved Guitar Hero III back when I had an X360. I got to finishing One on Hard @ 95%+, as a skill indicator.

    On to RS2014: This game is fantastic. It's basically Guitar Hero on a real guitar. The notes flow vertically down the screen onto a fret board, just like you would expect with a GH game.     On to RS2014:

    This game is fantastic. It's basically Guitar Hero on a real guitar. The notes flow vertically down the screen onto a fret board, just like you would expect with a GH game. There is more complexity in that there requires string+fret combinations, over just "strings" in GH games.

    The dynamic aspect of the game is phenomenal. I've clearly noticed when I hit multiple notes in a row, the game will increase its difficulty and throw in a random chord or add more notes in quick succession to push your skills. You might fail, but that's ok, because it'll scale back down. It is a welcome addition and it feels like the game grows with you, even mid song, yet keeps the fun level high and not being brutal.

    I have focused mainly on Learn A Song mode, which allows you to select a song to master it, and you receive a rating. Adding to this, are technical lessons built into the songs you choose, somewhat like "missions". You'll get 3 missions per song to complete, so it keeps the fun level high without you being pushed into traditional learning methods that can detract from the experience of playing your favorite band's tunes. There is ample content available out of the box. I've not even played 5% of what is on offer and I feel heavily immersed in the experience.

    You'll hear lots of comments about lag. If the setup guides are followed, you'll be fine. I had no negative experiences since I installed an optical cable (costs about $6), as the instruction guide clearly states. It's important to remember this is not a console problem, it's a problem with the HDMI format that is noticeable because of this game is so reliant on audio processing speed.    … Expand

    English is not good. But please understand.
    Almost perfectly possible to learn the guitar.
    Exactly, code do not know, but notes can be played to learn.
    Lowering the level of difficulty as a regular guitar games.

    The game is fun and can be mildly informative when it works. The problem is that the game has sound and lag issues for some people and Ubisoft support is the worst customer support that I've ever dealt with. The game used to work fine, then one day I started having audio issues that make the game completely unplayable. Ubisoft just treats me like an idiot and expects me to spend more money on a solution that doesn't work. The lag and audio issues just seem to come and go for people with zero help from Ubisoft. They refuse to acknowledge the issue and therefore have no accountability to fix it. Could have been a great product but Ubisoft refuses to support it beyond continued dlc that tries to take your money. Save your money or you'll just end up with a broken and frustrating experience.… Expand

    Rocksmith game is one the best games ever. Having the game and electro guitar you can start producing that wonderful sound which other could wait for years. It's not a teacher in a classical term or would never make you a guitar super star like Van Halen, but its lessons and method of teaching with your passion and love to guitar sound will definitely make the world the better place!

    So far one of the most pleasant and addicting experiences I've had on PS4!

    This is almost a first impression review but I think It can be useful to someone insecure about purchasing the game. I remember playing Guitar Hero before this game came out and having fun but at the same time thinking that It would be amazing to learn how to play guitar instead of tapping plastic buttons.     I finally made the investment and I do not regret it one bit, I just wish the DLC songs would be cheaper,
    2.99€ for a single song is a bit too much IMHO.

    I've been playing for 4 days and from what I've seen so far the interface is very well thought and visually the game doesn't throw too much at the screen when playing which is great.

    The mini arcade games are just splendid, I find them so original and nostalgic, plus there are so many, wow... amazing effort.    … Expand

    Всё тот же Rocksmith 2014, только на PS4. Сначала был расстроен задержкой звука, но затем купил USB-колонки (Logitech S150) и задержка уменьшилась практически до уровня ПК-версии. Конечно в игре не хватает развлекательного элемента, из-за которого игры и называются играми (а это по-сути визуализатор табов), на данный момент аналогов данному продукту все равно нет.Всё тот же Rocksmith 2014, только на PS4.     From the little tweaks like the menu being cleaner and more responsive, to the adding of modes that are useful and not superfluous, Rocksmith 2014 is as excellent a prospect that it could ever have been. So if you are interested in picking up a guitar for the first time and can’t afford tutoring, it is really hard to not recommend a purchase here.
