    My first experience of 'pay to win' - sadly!

    Well, what can I say? Having purchase Ride (then it's season pass), then Ride 2 (and that season pass) - Ride 3 was something that was on my radar since it being announced; and the initial videos made it look gorgeous - and inline 4's actually sounded really good now! Owing to having a bit of a backlog, I let Ride 3 wait for a while, and    My first experience of 'pay to win' - sadly!

    Well, what can I say? Having purchase Ride (then it's season pass), then Ride 2 (and that season pass) - Ride 3 was something that was on my radar since it being announced; and the initial videos made it look gorgeous - and inline 4's actually sounded really good now!

    Owing to having a bit of a backlog, I let Ride 3 wait for a while, and never read any reviews - but it popped up on a PSN offer, so I nabbed it!

    First race - a Panigale V4 (oof!), but it became clear that this was much like past Ride games, and had a bit of a steep learning curve; fair enough, it's just an into - I don't care where I come. I then start working my way through the first tier of racing (ignoring the riding school) - all was going well.

    Unfortunately, I hit a series where the top two bikes were a naked Triumph, and some other bike, which came with one of the chargeable packs. Fair enough I thought, and I duly purchased the Triumph and upgraded it to the max; little did I know, the AI had the premium bike, and it was impossible to catch!

    Race after race after race, the bike from the chargeable pack was always in the top positions, and regardless just how much I perfected my lines, I would never get the gold or silver in races against this bike! What else was I left to think, other than "this is pay to win"!! In the end, all I could do was lower the difficulty.

    I then got hit with exactly the same issue in another race - a section of the Nurburgring, old style naked bikes, and yet again - the AI leaders were furnished with a chargeable bike from the Customs pack!!!! And again, regardless of reaching the maximum PP for my bike, I could never catch these chargeable bikes, without lowering the difficulty.

    I've only just unlocked the second tier of racing, but the above experiences have clearly shown me that Milestone have structured races in such a way, that you either pay to win, or lower the difficulty, which is something you really shouldn't have to do.

    Aside from this, the game is enjoyable enough, though the power of front brakes are laughable - a set of Brembo M50 calipers will bring a bike down from silly speeds, to near enough nothing, in a very very short distance; in Ride 3 it feels like you are braking using sponges rather than sintered pads!

    The bike lineup is also disappointing too - far too many 2017/2018 models are missing, which makes the lineup feel stale. And I'm relativity sure that the model details (when zoomed in on photos) have taken a fair dive from Ride 2.

    I'll persevere with the game, but the pay to win elements have certainly left a bad taste in my mouth over this game.    … Expand

    Terrible game, don't waste your money. Milestone made it only because they needed extra budget for Motogp 19

    2. AI is non-existent and annoying as hell. They will ram into you and make you crash over and over. I have never seen an AI crash while racing either. AI is on rails and you hit them and you'll crash, they hit you and you still crash but 90% of the time they won't crash.
    3. No qualifying or practice sessions in order to understands the tracks.
    4. Bikes have a lot of bugs (missing exhaust, engine parts sticking out of the bike, etc)
    5. Supermoto don't wheelie when you are getting on the power. It's damn hard to win the Supermoto race. Good luck trying to pass the Supermoto school.
    6. On screen map is just useless, no way of knowing when the next corner is coming up.
    7. Ideal trajectory is not ideal at all when you can't even see the lines.
    8. My favorite Macau track is night only race. Hate the night racing.

    Ride 1 and Ride 2 are better than this. Hope the devs fixed it.    … Expand

    Gave the game a try after reading the reviews saying "if you enjoy bikes you'll like this" i enjoy bikes but this game controls like garbage. Great visuals and actual working mirrors. But controls feel off.

    I've been playing Milestone games for a few years now and although this developer has had a rough few years, I'm pleased to say that it's off on the right foot. With the success of Ride 2 there was much anticipation for this entry and it was worth the wait. Ride 3 is a great step in the ride direction for Milestone. With the step up from their in-house engine to Unreal, this game has seen a boost in both graphics and physics. As of right now, the game features a total of 230 bikes, though many of them are a repeat from previous installments. One of my biggest pet-peeve is that there aren't any 2018 models and very few 2017's. I love Ducati and I'm pleased with the beefy roster but when it comes to MV Agusta, which I also love, the choices are lackluster and a copy and paste of Ride 1, with a couple new additions.

    The rider customization has been vamped up as well. Though the facial animation remains somewhat awkward and at times scary. There's a vast option of helmets, leathers, gloves etc. I would like to see a helmet editor in the next series. They did add bike editor and it is pretty sweet.

    Ride 3 has all the potential to be the best bike simulator as there are no other competitors. I hope Milestone makes it become the Forza or Gran Turismo of bikes as there is so much potential in this game!    … Expand

    Ride 3 is an improvement but could have been so much better. It is the best motorcycle game in terms of size and types of bikes.
    My background is riding over 10years, amateur road racing for 6 years, and watching all forms of motorbike racing since 1992. I have also been playing motorbike racing games since Super Hang On (look it up, Millennials!) I have almost all of them since 2000, so    Ride 3 is an improvement but could have been so much better. It is the best motorcycle game in terms of size and types of bikes.
    My background is riding over 10years, amateur road racing for 6 years, and watching all forms of motorbike racing since 1992. I have also been playing motorbike racing games since Super Hang On (look it up, Millennials!) I have almost all of them since 2000, so I know what I am saying. This game has improved... slowly since Ride 1. While I applaud Milestone for the new additions and features, all whats in Ride 3 could have been easily put in Ride 1 &2 (with the exception of the Unreal Engine). The DLC has gotten out of hand in all of the gaming world, so thats why Milestone couldnt help themselves and do it on this title. The newer bikes will be here...eventually. I would just like to see the DLC have new tracks and new gear or part manufacturers. The physics could be tweaked a bit, as for most of the bikes they have heavy understeer to start. WHY? The bikes react mostly how a real bike would. The tracks are a definite improvement over the last couple games. I know Milestone is a small company, but they should look to Polyphony Digital, Turn 10, even fellow Kunos Simulazioni of the Assetto Corsa fame as a way to improve their games. As for customization, they should have also included the option to color your windscreen, as mine is neon green. They also should have allowed us to color the handgrips, , helmets, individual fairing parts, and PLACE decals on the windscreen, as well!! While not on par with Gran Turismo or Project Cars, it is still the best video game option for TwoWheel Nutjobs, like myself. Hands Down.    … Expand

    Good graphics and sound let down by rubbish AI, sluggish handing and no ability to adjust FOV. The cockpit views feel zoomed out, like I'm sitting on the pillion seat.

    In general the game looks fantastic. Menus and all the additional stuff is really well done and no effort has been saved in that sector. But the most important thing, riding the bike... horrible. If real life bikes would behave anything like this and if driving would be even close this hard I wouldn't even consider actually riding them myself. For example, at higher speeds, you don't actually visibly _turn_ handlebars in the direction of the corner, but that's what you do in this game. I suggest the dev team would go and try out the Isle of Man TT game for the PS4 and learn how the bike handling is decently transferred into an enjoyable and believable simulation.… Expand

I watch & have watched all forms of motorcycle racing including MotoGP religiously since before it was called 'MotoGP'. I have purchased just about every game ever made on the subject since the days of the Sega Master System and Nintendo. I say all of this to let you know that I am not some kid picking up this game as 'just another racing game'. Here are a few points I would like to highlight:
    1. If you don't ride motorcycles or at least have an interest in them, this is not the game for you.
    2. Anyone rating this game below an 8? See point #1.
    3. While not perfect, this is the best motorcycle based game ever made. Add in more bikes from the 60s-80s and you would actually be getting closer to a perfect score.
    4. The physics of the game are outstanding and the best yet.
    5. Graphics are not on par with Forza, but they are nevertheless fantastic...again, best yet for a motorcycle game.
    6. Customizations are very good...but I personally would like to be able to put a Yosh on a Honda...a Muzzy on a Kawi...etc.

    All in all, this game is fantastic if you have a love for two wheels. Is it really a 10? No...that's just to counter the morons who would give this game anything below an 8.    … Expand

    Horrific performance on ps4 pro, given that the graphics look from a game of 3 years ago, you'd expect at least a smooth experience, but try moving around the camera in a race and enjoy your 20 fps

    Non-existant AI, they just shoot off the grid and ride on tracks all race on fixed pace, while completely ignoring (and crashing into) you. Since you start every race from 8th position (there's no qualifying), it just becomes ridicolous after a while. Lowering the AI difficulty slider seems to make no difference at all on the AI riders.

    Lack of options to make the game at least playable (for example minimap zoom in order to make the track minimap useful as it basically shows 15 metres of track in front and behind you, or an option to remove the camera bobbing as correcting your trajectory in a turn makes you sea-sick)

    You literally have to buy the DLCs to win races in career mode, as in the starting races the A.I rides DLC bikes that goes faster than the bikes you can buy (even when upgraded to the max). So you have for example this race starting in the nordschleife final straight where you just watch the AI DLC bikes doing 30 kmh more than your maxed up triumph street twin.

    The tracks feel quite lack-luster as many are missing a lot of surrounding scenery, and many tracks have sections that do not resemble their real counterpart (even if you just compare them to tracks in game that have tracks laser scanned like forza)

    I give the game a 1 only because it's fun to buy and customize the bikes and rider, everything else is really horrendous.    … Expand

    I loved playing Ride 2 on pc, but was not sure if this would look good on ps4. It does not look as good as Ride 2 on pc, it is much better. And the best thing about this massive game is the feeling when you finally master the controls and the bike. Tracks are beautiful, and there are many (try Imatranajot, my favourite).

    We don’t have a lot of option when it comes to motorcycle games. All my family are into motorbikes include me, so to be honest I feel blessed to have Milestone in the past fell years, even with this game being not perfect I try to support (Milestone) as many as I can, to see more devs interested in this genre.

    I can't compare it to any of the previous versions, but for any bike lover this is a must have. One of the biggest complaints I've seen is that it's a grind to get locked bikes etc. I would say this is a result of our fast-food generation of instant gratification. This game takes me back to the good old days of Gran Turismo where you actually had to earn    I Absolutely love this game!

    My only issue is with the occasional invulnerability of opponents to be knocked off and the unlimited number of rewinds which makes it too easy at times. Other than that great game.

    I love the structure of it all career especially. Improvements can definitely be made but would only make it a better 10 in my eyes.

    Oh and more interesting trophies would make my Platinum a bit sweeter.    … Expand

This is the first time they have bikes in career mode that the A.I. can use that are the best bikes PP wise in the garage and the only way to get these bikes is to buy them with real money. For example the triumph has a bike that is by far the best and the AI uses it and is way better than any bike you canI am absolutely beyond disappointed with ride. Same developer and clearly technically similar so doesn’t matter much; just depends on taste) but it’s not Forza, it’s not GT Sport but it’s similar level quality to Assetto Corsa and Project Cars. If you accept that, goForza meets Motorbikes but with occasional bugs and too little possibility to adjust difficulty to your skill level. It’s still the best motorbike game (or is it MotoGP?     Coming right off playing and loving GT Sport, I was looking forward to RIDE 3. The work by RIDE 3's 3D modelers and the graphic designers is fantastic. It truly looks amazing. But the game is completely let down by whoever decided to approve the physics and controls. It is awful. Frustrating. Unlike GT Sport where the game gave you range to be OK or awesome and explained how toComing right off playing and loving GT Sport, I was looking forward to RIDE 3. The work by RIDE 3's 3D modelers and the graphic designers is fantastic. It truly looks amazing. But the game is completely let down by whoever decided to approve the physics and controls. It is awful. Frustrating. Unlike GT Sport where the game gave you range to be OK or awesome and explained how to drive, RIDE 4 is non-communicative and unforgiving. After 4 hours of unintuitive, unexplained introduction I gave up. I made it through the license test and left it at that. There will be no DLC purchases, no RIDE 4 purchases, a proper financial consequence for whoever decided to make a game that should be fun, into a totally not-fun experience. Or maybe this is a niche game for people who like Dark Souls-hard or Cuphead-hard games? Yeah, that's not me.… Expand

The physics are quite realistic, from what I've heard not as much as Isle of Man TT, but leaning in the curves is really fun. Graphics are beautiful, but the sound definitely lacks some bass, even when connected to my amp. That's why I'm giving it only 7, cause sound is important for a motorbike game.Really fun motorbike game, and besides Moto GP the only one available on Playstore. Some tracks they are just completely incompetent and I'm able to get a 10 second lead after just a few corners, anything with a long sweeping corner they loose several seconds as they awkwardly try and manage their speed yet in the straights and off the line you will almost always be at a disadvantage so the actual difficulty is down to their behavior and the track this makes some race's a complete cake walk even if the highest difficulty settings and others do difficult you have to drop the difficulty or just be left in the dust. There isn't strong rubberbanding which is nice, instead the lead AI will just gap the pack immediately and go off into his own race, I've had 3 lap races where the gap between myself and 1st is 10 seconds and then the next AI is over 40 seconds behind me and all of this makes the game feel unbalanced and robotic. Next is the sound design, the music menus and road noises are all great but some of the bike noises are just so awful that I actually had to turn the sound off when using certain bikes. The best example I can give is the KTM 390 RC it sounds like an uninspired biplane with a cold. Overall I'm very underwhelmed with the game with bikes being locked behind the campaign (which would be fine if the AI was up to par) the game just feels like a rushed out mess and is just overall worse than its predecessor (Ride 2). When I'm playing a time attack with one of the bikes that has good sound design its great but the rest of the time I feel like I'm just tolerating the game rather than enjoying it.    … Expand

    From a presentation standpoint, Ride 3 is outstanding. The bikes look fantastic and I love all the customization options. Unfortunately, it is lacking in terms of gameplay. With this being a video game and all, that’s a bit of a problem. If you really need a bike racer then this may be the best of your very limited options, but with the harsh learning curve, lack of teaching, and uninspired game modes, there are far superior racing games on the market.

    As much as I liked my time on the throttle of Ride 3, there are moments when it feels like a game that’s more concerned with the history of motorcycles as products than the actual experience of riding them. There’s a staggering amount of content and stuff to collect, which will be more than enough reason for some players to seek out what Milestone has delivered here, but the pacing and difficulty often made that content feel more like an obstacle. The speed, danger and finesse of a motorcycle is nice, but maybe a bit more freedom wouldn’t hurt.

    Ride 3 is an easy entry into the motorcycle simulation genre. The level of detail on and off the track is visually satisfying. Over time playing the AI can get a little boring, but multiplayer provides some variety, at least if you win and don't get dead last like I do more than half the time. For someone wanting to get into a motorcycle racing game this is a strong contender. Veterans of the genre may have their niche, but Ride seems to have a good community following. To those veterans I say it is for you to decide if there is enough new content to warrant the purchase. Either way, I hope to see many of you at the finish line!
