    M2 did an amazing job with porting this series. Most of my time so far has been in RayForce, but I already know I'll have over a hundred hours in this collection by the time it's said and done. I'm a new shmupper, but M2's save state tools to set up moments to practice make the game feel possible to clear at my skill level.

    If you're an STG fan, you probably already have this, and if    M2 did an amazing job with porting this series. Most of my time so far has been in RayForce, but I already know I'll have over a hundred hours in this collection by the time it's said and done. I'm a new shmupper, but M2's save state tools to set up moments to practice make the game feel possible to clear at my skill level.

    If you're an STG fan, you probably already have this, and if you're not... well, you're missing out on the most gameplay dense and satisfying genre completely overlooked by the mainstream. Ray'z ain't a bad place to start:)    … Expand

    While it’s not a must-own shoot ’em up collection, any shmup fan will have a good time with Ray’z Arcade Chronology. RayForce and RayStorm are easy recommendations, and the laser lock-on feature helps the games find a unique identity and stick out in a crowded genre. While RayCrisis was a disappointment in 1998, it still has plenty of historical value and rounds out the trilogy nicely. It’s always great to see game history lovingly preserved, and this is no exception.

    Overall, Ray’z Arcade Chronology is great collection of some classic Shmups. No matter which game you like best, you will find something to love here. The extra modes, save states and the ability to play the polygonal games in full HD are all great additions that make this package worth your time and money. Even if you aren’t a hardcore fan of Shmups, you really should give these games a try, as there is a little something for everyone. There is a less complete collection available that doesn’t include RayForce, and it costs slightly less, but you are really missing out on a classic without it. I would say just stick to this complete collection and enjoy this fantastic series in it’s entirety.

    Fans of the RayForce series will be very happy with this trio of perfectly emulated classic arcade shoot 'em ups. It's not quite as complete as we'd like but the main thing is that the three arcade titles are here and ready to ruin your trigger fingers.
