Best co op platform since crash bandicoot 3. You won't be dissapointed. Kids will love it.
This game concentrates more on hard and replayability than deaths and lives very interesting way of doing things.

This game is well priced and honestly pretty faultless. I never liked or played rayman this is my first rayman title. I did't even know what to expect. Oh btw it's four player co op, so now you have a reason to have that second controller.

I can't judge on remote or crossplay, this wasn't tested and the maximum characters I played with was 2.
It was an interesting dynamic with two people in some of the levels. As you can disrupt each other by attacking and you can kill the other character by going to far ahead, if this sounds bad don't be put off as death isn't permenant, and if both players die it's just a restart.

I also like the unlockable characters and the fact that you don't spend 10k lums on a character if you have 10k lums you unlock the 1k, 2k, 5k and 10k characters.

Can be enjoyed best with a friend.

I'm playing the game no Xbone and the game is pure eye-candy. It's full of comedy like previous games and the boss fights are challenging. I'm loving the coop with friends and overall I'm pleased with the game and hope that next-gen consoles get more like it.

Decent platformer, but can get boring after a few worlds. I did like that at the end of each world there was a music stage, and I liked the timed challenges. all characters that you can unlock are basically all the same just a different skin... Decent game overall, can be tough at times and I really like a challenge..

I initially reviewed this game a 9/10 as my first impressions was very good (worthy of a 9) - that was the first hour or two in the game but because i found it so so repetitive i had to drop it to a 8.5, however its still a great game and is just outstanding for children and adults a like but i just think its a tad repetitive thats why i would give it a 8.5/10

An energetic, creative and above all else hilarious platformer which takes the tried and true formula from its many predecessors and breathes new life into it. Brimming with style, challenge and a large amount of varied content I would personally place this title up to the very high standards of Rayman 2.

A great platforming game. Rayman Legends combines classic platforming action with dazzling graphics and a great soundtrack. The only reason I didn't rate it as 10/10 is because the game's difficulty level is a bit on the 'easy' side, especially if you're an experienced player of platform games.

    Also, it's not a game you'll invest 100 hours in--like Skyrim or something--but that's why

I'd give this game 75% rating based on the normal levels and bonus multiplayer material - but I'm rating it a 9 purely for HOW GOOD the music levels are. I had read it featured them, and being a fan of rabids on the Wii, I half expected a Parappa-the-rapper-style beat-along mode, but it far surpasses that. The music levels are still platformer based in principle, but as it scrolls along the jumps and things you have to do tie in perfectly with the music, giving the level rhythm.
I am a fan of Mario games, but not really a platform player - but this is really good fun and huge!

If you see it on offer - a must have on the PS4

Rayman Legends is a phenomenal 2D platformer. Awesome artwork, beautiful graphics, plenty of humor, crazy levels, hidden collectibles, great gameplay mechanics, a nice football game called Kung Foot (at least I have fun with it), daily online challenges with leaderboards, local co-op (no online), but most of all I love the musical levels, I just wish there were more of them in this game. Not only that, nearly half the levels of the previous game (Rayman Origins) are included in Rayman Legends as a bonus. So it's essentially a 2-in-1 package, Rayman Legends + Origins. That doesn't mean Rayman Legends' levels are too few and Ubisoft made up for it by including Origins levels, there are plenty of those wholly new levels.

The only downside of Rayman Legends is its roots in WiiU-style asymmetrical multiplayer, because the game once was meant to be a WiiU exclusive. There are instances where you have to use Murphy to cut ropes, rotate the screen, or move platforms in order to proceed through a level. It was originally conceived for dual screen gameplay, but on PS4, depending on the situation, you do that by either pressing the O button (you control Rayman and Murphy automatically does something in the level's environment) or by pressing R1/L1 to rotate the screen. This whole process is unintuitive to be honest and all it does is break the game's pace. I just wish Ubisoft had removed all that WiiU nonsense from the non-WiiU versions of the game because when you are playing multiplayer one player has to sit idle and wait for the very few times he can act as Murphy, and when you are playing solo you have your pace broken apart.

In a world of shooters, sports games and RPG's, going back to platformers and making them better than they have been for many years is brave, but when you pull it off and create something as enjoyable as Rayman Legends, the risk is well worth it.

While I enjoyed the demo on Wii U, I opted to go for the PS4 version as I actually prefer games without touch controls and I'm glad I did. Playing on the DS4 is perfect for me. Not only that but graphics look sharper, there is no loading times and of course Trophy's on PS consoles.

There is so much to do in Legends it will keep you going for many hours. The new worlds are superb, plus there is a revisit to some Rayman Origins levels re-configured for this new adventure as well as daily and weekly challenges to compete against the world.

Gameplay is tight, graphics are beautiful, the music is excellent and the challenge is quite taxing on the later levels.

Ubisoft should be given credit for continuing to make games like this and Child of Light with such creativity,I really hope they continue to do so.

It's actually quite refreshing to be playing a bright and vibrant game rather than most of the dark and gloomy games that seem to be the general trend these days. You can see that a lot of thought was put into this game.

As with it's predecessor (Rayman Origins), the goal of this game is to free the Tweenies. This version in my opinion however is better in every respect: it is more creative; the soundtrack is better; the story is better and I guess all round it just flows better. The game actually includes all the levels from Rayman Origins for free (What a bonus!). Why can't more developers do this?!

The game has up to 4 player co-op too which is really cool. It's actually quite fun playing when friends come around and since the controls are quite basic it's easy for even novices to pick up the game. They are able to join or leave half way through without impacting your story mode. There are timed events and online challenges both of which are pretty addictive.

    Pros:
    Creative
    Excellent soundtrack
    Excellent visuals
    Challenging
    Online challenge modes
    Rayman Football mode
    Offline 4 player co-op
    Addictive
    Suitable for all ages

    Cons:
    Online co-op isn't available on the ps4
    Online leaderboard is poorly designed
The story is pretty poor although to be fair the same can be said for most platformers

It actually surprises me how cheap it is given how good the game is. I am one of the few people that have platinumed Rayman Legends. To do that I had to complete the story mode for both Rayman Origins (included with this game) and Rayman Legends. I then had to complete a number of daily and weekly challenges where my world rank at the end of the challenge gave me points. For me this was the best bit. I loved trying to better my time/score and figuring out all the little tricks to get my rank into the top 1% (and occasional top 10) to get that elusive diamond trophy. I quite quickly became really addicted particularly as my competency improved. I would actually give this 10 out of 10 if the online leaderboard wasn't so poorly designed!

All in all, this is one of my favourite PS4 games (and I have many). I would highly recommend buying this game and giving it a proper chance. You won't be disappointed!

I liked Rayman Origins but this game just blows it out of the water. Everything is improved and it's one of the few games nowadays that has up to 4 player split screen. This gives Mario a run for his coins.

Super fun platforming, lots of levels, even contains versions of Rayman Origins levels, lots to unlock for completionists, variety of levels with different difficulties. Tons and tons of content to keep you busy.

Can be quite difficult with split-second timing so that can be frustrating.

A great adventure game, introducing musical phases were spectacular, the way "king foot" is fun. Perhaps the biggest problem is for those who want to get the platinum trophy, which forces you to repeat the "chalenge mode" by dozens or even hundreds of days, let the boring and tiring game. The introduction of the challenge mode was cool, but force the play it is to much abusive.

Rayman Legends manages a superb feat, as a wonderful classic platformer that's fun for the whole family. Equally parts fun and challenging, without asking too much. If you want more of either, it's available. I highly recommend it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The year is 1995. I'm sitting on my ass looking at a friend of mine playing Cybermorph. He was the only person I knew who owned an Atari Jaguar. In the middle of one of his play sessions his little brother and his mother come back from shopping, and the kid races over and says "Hey! you wanna play Rayman?". It was obvious he bought it from the shop he and his mom went to. I can't remember what happened next, but I vaguely recall trying the game, loving it and then owning the PlayStation version some time later.

Jump back to the modern age and I've become a pretty big Rayman fan. i haven't had a metacritic account 'till now and I've been dying to talk about my favorite game of all time online. So let us talk about Rayman Legends.

The plot is very simple. To sum it up: five creature known as Dark Teensies are screwing up this bright and happy world, so the bubble dreamer wakes up Rayman, our hero who has a bad habit of sleeping for entire centuries (no, really!), who you control. The dark Teensies have to be stopped at all costs, and you've gotta do it, buster!

Visually, the game is a marvel. It looks bright and cartoony, the animation is spot on, and the lively colors (almost) always let you see Rayman (or any of the other characters you can play as) against these beautiful backdrops. The game also NEVER experiances slowdown, not even on your regular run of the mill PS4, which is what I played the game on.

The soundtrack is cool too. My favorite tracks are Castle Rock, The Spy Who Kicked Me, Dragon Slayer, Gloo Gloo and Once Upon a Time. They all fit the mood really well and I currently require a soundtrack CD with these songs

You're gameplay is the typical 2D platformer affair, you run, jump, kill enemies and do the occasional platforming or puzzle challenge. There are 10 trapped Teensies (regular ones, not Dark Teensies) in each stage except for boss stages, music levels and invasion paintings, plus in remastered stages from this game's predecessor, Rayman Origins. This totals to over 700 Teensies to collect in the game. 2 of the trapped Teensies in each stage coming from challenge rooms you can find in hidden areas. Progressing through the game and collecting more Lums, the game's equivalent to Coins in the Mario games except this game doesn't use a lives system, can reward you with special skins for the four main characters: Rayman, Globox, Barbara, and the Teensie king. Some of these skins are availible at the start, but for the rest you'll have to collect Lums to unlock. Getting hit by an enemy will kill you immediatly unless you have a heart, which can allow you to take an extra hit. Remember, this game gives you infinite lives, so one hit kills aren't really a bad thing. Boss battles are here too, and they're really creative. They require you to hit 'em a lot until they go down. But to hit them, you'll have to do a little platforming challenge that may hide the three Teensies in a boss level. the music stages are autoscrollers that require you to do certain actions in time with the music or you'll die like a scrub. These are really fun and add variety to the game without making it stray too far away from the core mechanics.

I would go into more depth about this game, but it's really something you should experience for yourself. Sure some of the later Invasion Paintings are a bit...annoying to say the least and the game as a bit of a difficulty spike in the later half, but they're not enough to ruin it altogether.

And now I've come full circle, from a hard as hell 1995 platformer to my favorite game of all time, It sure has been a ride with good ol' Ray here. from the transition to 3D, to the slapstick approach of the third outing, to the...Rabbids. Rayman's come back to his roots. And I hope the Switch port of this game isn't the last of him we'll see for a while.

I played for 20 minutes, and 10 minutes in my eyes were sore from the art style. Way too bright, and noisy. Gameplay is awful, I had no fun playing it. I'm glad I got it for free with PS+ because I would have regretted my entire life if i paid actual money on this game. I won't give it a 0/10 purely because of its meme-ability

Certainly an improvement over its predecessor, which was a great game in its own right, Rayman Legends is one of the best looking and most enjoyable games available on the Xbox 360. Aside from the Super Mario series there simply aren't any other titles in the platform genre that can match it for sheer imagination (the music levels are just a joy) and the precisely implemented controls means failure rarely becomes frustrating.

Aside from a couple of levels involving 'Murfy' (that were apparently designed with the Wii U gamepad in mind and as such can be a little dull on the 360) Ubisoft have barely put a foot wrong with this one. So, while it may not differ all that much from Rayman Origins, this is a must play if you have any interest in platformers at all (especially if you have a friend to play in co-op with).

Feels like a true oldschool platformer: fun, and challenging.

Plot is simple and not overbearing, which is good as there's no option for subtitles, and voice audio in cutscenes is hard to listen to.

Some levels are very challenging and require a great deal of muscle memory and repetition, yet they don't feel at all frustrating. Lives are infinite with level checkpoints, nothing feels overly difficult or impossible just challenging. The levels can even be skipped if you desire.

There were only 2 main-story levels that I was completely stuck on for over an hour, despite not even being too hard, because they involved new mechanics that weren't introduced. I'm unsure why, as all other mechanics are introduced via onscreen tutorials and tips. Eventually, I figured them out without needing to search online though, which is redeeming. I wouldn't change the levels at all, just add tooltips to introduce which new move to use.

There is an exception to not feeling overly difficult though, a bonus door called Living Dead Party which you get after beating the game where they take existing levels and visually distort them to make them more difficult. To me this is a fairly way lazy making you replay the levels you've already played to extend the length of the game. The guise of making them 8-bit look isn't even an issue, 8-bit filters on a game gives a retro feel, however the levels get more pixlated in certain sections of the level, with the sole aim to screw the player.
There is one level in particular, Orchestral Chaos (8-Bit) remix which is especially messed up. Not only is the color pallet and graphical fidelity of the level altered, but for some reason, the level is periodically covered by static so you are physically unable to see anything that is going on the majority of the time.
The idea is you memorise the level as much as you can through any clear moments, and use audio cues for when you need to perform an action. A very cool idea. Terrible execution. The effect is far too obtrusive. I eventually managed to beat it by watching the original level to memorise the locations of everything, and then tons of repetition.
I managed to clear most of the Living Dead Party levels, but one of the last ones Dragon Slayer led me to give up on the game. It starts off heavily pixelated ("8-bit"). But becomes even more pixelated later on during the tougher parts. Also shifting colours just as obstacles approach. I played it a couple of hours, learning from mistakes and getting so far I was sure I was a jump or two away from the end. But eventually I realised I am just not having fun with this so decided to stop playing further.

A final point I wish to address, is that I'm not a fan of the lootbox mechanic (lucky tickets). Whilst it's more acceptable than a lot of games (as in I didn't need to spend any real money), I was unable to unlock some levels requiring lucky tickets, and considering I completed the game and collected as much as I could throughout, feel that restricting levels by needing essentially 100% collectables is too extreme.

That all being said, Rayman Legends was one of the best platformers I've played in decades and look forward to a sequel.

Unless you can play the online challenges for hours and hours to get diamond trophies day in and day out, it will take you an unrealistic amount of time to reach the final level of awesomeness and get that one last trophy for platinum. Yes platinum should be hard, but grinding for a trophy doesn't mean its hard. its just that. a grind.

GEM! Beautiful hand crafted graphics, stunning colors , solid 60 frames per second, ultra precise controls, perfect platforming mechanics, genius level design and tough as nails timed invasion challenges. Playing this game makes me feel 20 years younger but due to it's frenetic pace on later levels it reminds me that me and my reflexes are becoming old and sometimes struggle to keep up.

With its creative level design and slick controls, Rayman Legends is an above average side-scrolling platformer worthy of its praise. The different character options and the game's large variety of levels keep the gameplay from getting stale. Fans of the genre are bound to enjoy it.

Preety nice and addictive platformer. There is a lot of content. The developers were very creative making this game, the variety of levels and colours is magnificent. Good job, Ubisoft.

Just like the prequel this game is fun and has great boss fights but it improves on what was already great in the previous game, and it's truly a gorgeous game with it's unique art style and there's loads of playable characters to unlock.

Awesome 2D Game with cool story and wonderful gameplay, excellent Game with good main character, one of the best Ubisoft Games, but The Division, Watch Dogs and Far Cry 4 are better than Rayman Legends, but this games mustn't compare and in Rayman Legends beatiful graphics for 2D Game . Amazing 2D Platformer .

Loved this game so simple to play and very enjoyable, nothing like a good old platformer, the music levels were the highlight for me, what a laugh, just a great game to play which dosent require to much effort or concentration to play, which I do like sometimes, everyone likes a break from intense mentally demanding games, and this is a fantastic game to just sit and casualy play, if youLoved this game so simple to play and very enjoyable, nothing like a good old platformer, the music levels were the highlight for me, what a laugh, just a great game to play which dosent require to much effort or concentration to play, which I do like sometimes, everyone likes a break from intense mentally demanding games, and this is a fantastic game to just sit and casualy play, if you are a fan of old school platformers this is definatly worth a shot Expand

Its an ok 2d scroller but far from as good as its score. Why? It has some boring boss fights, infuriating level design and the controls are actually quite bad. I especially did not like the controls, which is hard to explain - you have to feel it. There are far superior games to this one, example shovel knight, Celeste and the remake sonic mania. This game is just flat out fun! The developers have really gone out of their way to make a platformer that is fun, wacky and varied. Blast from the past but with the spirit of 2014 of course. Nice game, supports 2-4 gamepads at one PS4, which is a rare thing already. Highly recommended to families with kids older 6 years.

One of the tightest, beautiful and most fun platformer I have ever played.
Rayman legends is my second favourite platformer, it's does everything perfectly for a 2d platformer.

The gameplay is very simple: you jump and you hit the enemies, but what makes this game so fun is the level design, every single level is a masterpiece, the bosses are awesome also.
A great example to show what make these levels so good are the musical levels, in these levels, you can see all the smart enemie placement and platform placement to make a fun rhythm game.

Buy it now, you won't be disappointed, it's a great 2D platformer and also a great co op game to play with friends.

If you also take into account the discounted price point, massive amount of variety, and local multiplayer, then it’s impossible not to recommend this dream package to anyone with even a passing interest in the side-scrolling genre.
