Was expecting it to be much better. This just isn't on par with games like ion fury or wrath. Even the anniversary of duke nukem 3d is better than this. So its not cause I dont like the genre but this isnt fun. The levels are boring, enemies are not much better. Guns are not fun either, lot of magic stuff.

It just feelt like im playing Wolfenstein again, but not in a good way. Other retro

Fast, fun, addictive! A very satisfying game, which clearly aims to deliver pure joy of shooting while sweeping levels. One can say: like in the good old days, but no, it's a solid game, not exploiting your retro sentiment. But feeding it a lot if you want!

Project Warlock is a highly satisfying Fast FPS. The shooting is extremely satisfying, and defeating hords of monsters is as enjoyable as it can get. The player has 13 weapons to choose from and all of them can be upgraded one time, changing drastically how the weapon functions. There are 2 possible upgrades per weapon to choose from, which adds replayability if the player wants to experience all that the game offers. On top of that, the game has a level up system. When the character levels up, the player can upgrade stats such as up of ammo capacity. And to finish, the player also has access to spells that can also change the way the game is played. The level up system allows for even more customization and builds the player can go for. Soundtrack is overall extremely good. Level design is maze like but levels are never big enough to get lost. Project Warlock could have benefited from some bug fixes (be careful when using elevators or you might soft lock your game), a proper story and other game modes but it's overall a wonderful retro shooter that shouldn't be overlooked! It’s so wholly indebted to the past, it never tries to do anything new. Sure, it looks a little cleaner, and I suspect the controls are a little smoother, but there’s nothing here that suggests it’s aware of any developments in gaming post-1995. There’s barely even a story holding it all together — it’s just all nostalgia, all the time. Obviously, if that kind of nostalgia speaks to you, then you’ll probably find plenty to enjoy in Project Warlock. But if you want anything more than reheated Doom, you’re better off looking elsewhere, because you won’t find it here.

Project Warlock is a delightful tribute to 90’s shooters. It manages to find a perfect balance between old and new all the while still being its own entity. The console port is exceptionally well handled and offers some great options for players. The game attention to detail really helps make PW stand out among others retro titles in the genre.

Project Warlock is a Doom-like that packs a punch. The levels are full of secrets, the enemies have a great range of behaviours, and the weapons – boy, the weapons – are a joy to use. Add all of that to the 60 levels to learn and explore and the challenges provided by the higher difficulty levels and you have a winning formula. Even if the pixel graphics aren’t your usual cup of tea, Project Warlock is more than worth your time. This is a journey to Hell that is well worth the ride.
