It looks great, but the lag on you inputs makes the game unplayable at least on my 4K tv. It's such a disappointment I was really looking forward to playing this game on ps4 with trophies in HD. I'm pretty sure they cannot fix this with a patch.

Used to love the PSP version but the remastered PS4 version suffers from an incredibly bad input lag issue making it almost impossible to keep up with the beat perfectly. There is a serious delay between pressing a button and the game reacting to it and some levels are completely unplayable because of this.

I went with a lot of expectation in the game. I bought it as soon as it launched, however it's frustrating the response time between pushing the button and the game understanding the action. This lag / delay precludes all gameplay and frustrates the player. Unfortunately I threw money away!

Patapon is a great rhythm-game with a little touch of nostalgia. The first minutes I've played the game i was very upset about the input lag. Than i've plugged my earphones into the controller and the input lag was gone. Only playable with earphones, but than it's a really fun rhythm-game.

Firstly, the input lag. Using an optical cable and having your controller plugged into your PS4. the lag is barely noticeable. I feel that while the lag is fixable with setup adjustments, a calibration option could have been a simple implementation on Pyramid's behalf that might have changed the majority of the negative reviews to positive reviews.

Next up, it is a bare bones

Next up, it is a bare bones remaster. Some resolution was enhanced, other area's the resolution seems barely touched (or retouched) at all,

With all that being said, Patapon is still that fun rhythm based tactics game than many remember fondly playing on the PSP. The music/sound is slightly more notably repetitive while coming out of a loud soundbar, but it makes it worth it to hear FEVER cascading through the living room.

This is a guide on how to ruin a franchise.
    So bad designs.
    Laggy music.
    Lags.
There is so many negatives about this game. Just play itself.
    It is unworthy.

I thought I would have loved this because it does seem like my type of game. On PS4 it is labelled the remastered version however nothing was really "remastered" except a resolution bump. The gameplay for the first quarter was really fun and I was addicted to play more. However, I think it got old pretty fast. For the rest of what I played I'm just hitting square, square, square, circle (makes the army move), and then circle, circle, square, circle (makes them attack). When you start to lose battles you need to go and grind hunting to get more money (which you spend on more troops). You then repeat this process and slowly push your way through each boss.

In a way I understand why people call this series their favourite, it's very unique and I bet is great to pull out on a PSP while on a lunch break. So maybe the game isn't the best for long sessions, but more aimed at short sessions. That way it still stays fresh.

Really the fans of the series deserved a much better remaster, I only hope Patapon 2 got better. treatment.

This game blows goats for quarters, I have played many rhythm games. I am unsure as to why I cannot get past the intro. I checked it out on a whim and regret my purchase, hopefully someone sees this before they decide to pick up this reaking dumpster fire.

It's the same masterpiece as the old psp version. Wakes me up so many memories from my childhood

WHY would you release a rhythm game on a home console with no latency compensation option? You have to be so much in front of the beat with your inputs in order to score a perfect hit that it's simply ridiculous. This issue is not helped at all by an extremely muddy sounding mix with no clarity and seperation. I'm glad I only tried this out on PS+ Premium instead of actually buying it.WHY would you release a rhythm game on a home console with no latency compensation option? It's a shame, really, because the game itself looks like it could be fun, but this is NOT the way to play it. Expand

Patapon is an evergreen classic. This remastered is perfect. It doesn't add anything new but the game was already great back on the psp so there's no need to

Gorgeous eye-candy (mostly) and tunes that stay with you for decades. But years of rhythm games make the once revolutionary Patapon feel simplistic. [October 2017, p76]

Patapon’s charm is timeless but the PS4 edition underlines the game’s drawbacks, especially tedious grind necessary to progress, which was not so painful when you played the game in short sessions on a handheld. [11/2017, p.77]

There's been nothing quite like this conducting-meets-combat mashup since its original release, and it's still as wonderfully barmy and deeply moreish as ever. [Oct 2017, p.94]
