    You wouldnt think this was a dlc but that could just be that the main games short.
    Expands a lot more on the story and introduces some interesting people

    DLC che si trova di un gradino sotto rispetto all'originale solo per la durata, per il resto è un ottima espansione che aiuta a capire molto di più dell'universo di Outlast e della sua lore.

This one is excellent for me because it closes well what happened at the end of Outlast with Miles and his two antagonists (mainly The Groom) made me very tense during gameplay.… Expand

    Mostly jump scares and chase scenes and labyrinths. Outlast was amazing, scariest game I've ever played, but Whistleblower just amps up things Outlast didn't need more of. It got to the point where the deaths and scares diminish in effect because they happen so often; sometimes I'll just stop and be like, "OK, you got me, please just hurry up and kill me" so I can restart and try to findMostly jump scares and chase scenes and labyrinths. Outlast was amazing in large part with its reticence, making most things in the game not lethal but terrifying nonetheless, especially with unnerving sound effects, music, and roaming or faraway threats. I love being immersed in games, which Outlast did superbly, not just running around as fast as I can from one point to the next, which Whistleblower forces on me way too often. Buzzsaw guy... what a joke. Cheap scares over and over. Survival horror works best when you're not sure what's going on but know there's a threat and there's not much you can do about it... Whistleblower dumbs it down and amps it up, which makes it more irritating than terrifying. It kind of sucks the air out of the room whereas Outlast filled up the room with dense and almost overwhelming terror. Really disappointing. In contrast, a lot of the cut scenes and sets are great, and the dialog and most of the game is scary... the Notes and Documents are also compelling to read. Most of the game is honestly well done, it's just overcooked with these labyrinthine chase scenes and jump scares. I really love games that slowly unnerve me and do the unexpected... way too much becomes "OK this again!" in Whistleblower.… Expand

    The Whistleblower DLC was criminally underrated by the critics. It provided more precise details about the story of Mount Massive Asylum and how exactly people were extorted to prevent investigations from the authorities. Remember that is a DLC. It doesn't need to reinvent the wheel. That's the whole point! Not only do you get to meet the person who sent the message to the reporter Miles Upshur, you actually get to play as the whistleblower Waylon Park. Once again, there are deadly enemies that you have to run and hide from, and that's exactly what the dedicated fans wanted.     Оригинальной игре поставил 7 баллов, этой тоже. Понятно, что у разработчиков было мало бюджета, но, все рано это не делает игру лучше. Неплохо, для инди, если и стоит проходить Outlast , то ради антогонистов.

    Very good DLC for a good game. New antagonist is great. Some scenes are really disgusting. There are more action episodes in the game so it feels a bit different than original game but still scary. So if you liked original you will like DLC for sure.

    An OK expansion of the Outlast story. It reminds me of Half Life: Blue Shift, for those of you old enough to know what I'm talking about. It really could've been part of the original game. Whilstleblower is only for the fans, like, the true, true fans.
    Its identical to the main story and adds nothing gameplay-wise. You've got 2 insta-kill baddies who stalk you the same way as enemies    An OK expansion of the Outlast story.     A better, much more unique game than the original. The Whistleblower is scarier, and has unexpected well-made ties to the original title. You will not regret spending money on this DLC.

    Outlast was an incredibly scary game and was one of the most riveting horror experiences of 2014. Whistleblower- the sole add on for this adventure- plays as a sort of prequel/epilogue to the main game and fills in the gaps between the first game and the upcoming second. It also adds more depth to the story, with the player taking on the role of new character, Waylon Parks, who is the titular whisteblower who leaks the horrible goings on of Mount Massive Asylum to reporter Miles Upshur.

    Graphics wise this retains the same unsettling atmosphere of the base game. The gore is highly detailed as ever, the environments are diverse and well animated and the character models have received a few touches, with the new monsters looking nastier than anything previously seen. The only real problem is that a lot of the first game is repeated through familiar areas. While you make a reverse route from the laboratory to the exit, there is a lot of familiarity as you trek back through these places. There are some new places to explore (such as a cluttered hideout for new creature Destin), but they are few and far between, with assets being obviously reused to avoid high production costs.

    This game is still ridiculously scary though, with a feeling of tension pervading throughout the 2 hour run time. Of course there are still a lot of jump scares and these get me 90% of the time, but I noticed that there was more audio within these moments- sometimes without a visual atrocity to accompany it. A sharp violin twang can still fray my nerves when I am already so on edge, but if Red Barrels is going to do jump scares it is best to get them perfect.

    Sound is a bigger part of this experience though. The score is key to building up the horror and the ambient effects are so creepy that I was more scared of heavy breathing and bumps in the darkness than I was of any on screen monster. The voice acting is also a whole let better in this add on, with Destin being a particular standout due to his joyously creepy performance.

    In terms of gameplay, this is exactly like the first game. You can walk, run, hide, jump and mantle and you still have the camera to look around in the dark and make reports on particular events. There are also still plenty of documents scattered around the place and monster encounters are more enjoyable due to less predictable paths and actions. These set pieces signal Outlast at its very best and I am happy to see that they are given a greater focus in this content. The mission objectives are improved as well, with not as many fetch quest style mission perimeters. I would still like a map or an indicator or something though, because there are some parts where I had no idea where I was going, due to a hard to find mantle spot. In one particular instance, there was a psycho chasing me and I there were so many different paths that I kept getting lost due to the maze like design. I like the tight environments, but this is a little too far,

    Whistleblower tells a more directed, understandable story and the ending provides a lot more resolution than that of the main game. We get to see Miles after he is possessed and the final moments set up the second game nicely- Murkoff is shaping up to be a nasty villain. The whole story is kind of like a big escape sequence and it focuses more on the terror than the narrative- something Outlast does well.

    There is little replay value to Whisteblower and it is very short for the standard price. Repeated environments, vague mission objectives and weirdly designed scares hold this back, but the better story (and ending), monsters and set pieces ensure that this almost reaches the great heights of its horrifying predecessor. I am looking forward to the second game even more after playing this and I am genuinely excited to see where the story is heading in terms of the end goal. This is a horror series that actually knows how to do horror- how rare these days.    … Expand

    Fantastic from start to finish. After completing the game itself you will be left with many questions in your mind about it, this Dlc is well worth it's price tag and will keep you hooked from the first instant. It is the story of an It technician inside the asylum, the same person that sent the email to the reporter in the original game.     A sequel and a prequel put together that in my opinion was better than the main game.
    Whistleblower lets you explore more of the asylum, plus you get to learn more about Murkoff and what they do to their patients and you also get to see people who aren't variants. The story is much better and the ending reveals the true ending to the main game, the final chapter of Mount Massive.

    I highly recommend you play this AFTER you've played the main game, otherwise it won't make much sense.
    Only bad thing is the map design, it's one of those games where it takes a while to find where you suppose to go and when you find it, makes you think "How did I not notice that??!" It could ruin the experience a bit if your walking around endlessly for ten minutes when there's a secret hole in the wall you have to climb through.    … Expand

    A very well made game that helps clarify the original games story and manages to be scary. I hope to see another sequel to this game, but also that they manage to change it up more too.

Not only does it not do that, it bores you with repetitive, copy and paste gameplay that the main game offered. Oh, the monster showed up when I grabbed the key? Who knew that would happen...     Once the lights go off, I dare you to play it without getting nervous or tense.
    Outlast is not without it's faults. Confusing storyline and the level layout will lead to numerous and repetitive deaths. There will be moments of " did I just see that?"     I thought Whistleblower was actually a little scarier than the main story. The characters were more memorable. However, I felt the game lacked a good ending. And I didn't like that the cannibal issue is never resolved. Finally, the game could've been an hour or two longer. I think I finished it in about 2 1/2 hours and that was taking my time. Still, the environment was great, and reallyI thought Whistleblower was actually a little scarier than the main story. The characters were more memorable.     A satisfying yet unsurprising expansion to an already great horror game. It was nice to jump right back into the insane setting of Mount Massive Asylum. It was great to see another side of the Asylum before all hell broke loose, at least the tiny sliver we actually did see. The new areas and setting to explore as well as some interesting new characters make it a fun 3 hour experience.A satisfying yet unsurprising expansion to an already great horror game. If the jump scares and characters aren't enough then the menacing sound of hack saws and crazed Grooms will throw you over the edge. While admittedly not as scary as Outlast, it still holds true to the story and gameplay. But the surprise Outlast showed us was gone in this expansion. Knowing that at some point you will run, be chased, run again, pull a level or two, then die is not as exciting as it was when I played the original game for the first time. If Red Barrels is to create a sequel (which I surely hope they do) they will need to find a new way to scare us and finally fix getting caught by a character in a random corner. Well worth your time and the $9 price tag if you are already a fan!… Expand

    Again, like the original, this gets extra points for the scare factor. A couple of the main antagonists are badass, in an evil way, especially the final one.
    It's very similar to the original but changes the scare tactics enough to keep you scared the whole play through

    It's the most scariest horror over the past few months. We saw some new characters and ALIVE people. It showed player the scane of outlast from the other hand.

The story is better developed, and as DLC, flushes out most of the elemebts that reained unknown with the first walkthrough. While including mostly similar environments, it is a treat to see them in the process of breakdown.     Outlast Whistleblower features pretty much the exact same environments as the original but it adds to the backstory and overall has a better story. The scares have been improved as well.

The DLC introduces some terrifying new characters; One specifically that I believe to be the best character yet in the game. The length is questionable, only running in between 1-2 hours, possibly longer if you take it slow. This leads to an enemy cornering you and forcing you to start over from a checkpoint which can really take the scare factor out of the game. Nonetheless, this expansion had me cringing on the first playthrough. I definitely recommend this game to anyone who was a fan of Outlast, it is well worth $9.… Expand

    It expands on the original background, and somehow manages to fix some of the few issues of the main chapter, namely linearity. A great DLC, which you should absolutely consider if you loved Outlast.
