very bad game. players just love it because of 2Bs ass. Firtsly story is too complicated and incomprehensible. mechanics are medium. level design is trash. invisible walls are everywhere. its completely unacceptable in 2017. i am not going to even mention about the 2nd and 3rd campaign its a **** obviously. I would rate this game "0" but 2Bs porns are amazing so it deserves 2 points

good things: special effects, animations, character models, combat. The music is as good as they say. weapon variety and uniqueness + chip system.

what could have been improved: make vehicles available or make fast travel available earlier. especially for the 2nd play-through. The game crashed 6 times on Ps5 for me - something which happens often if i am to believe the reddit posts on the matter. After 30 hours already, i unfortunately couldn't keep going, when i could be playing other games with no big bug issues like this. also. many buildings look ugly and empty.

issues: the story is interesting but so confusing. you also have to replay the game twice which was incredibly tedious and annoying. also no invincibility while hitting and the pod's lock on was usually not on the enemy i wanted. the map and mini maps are horrible. the map is annoying to control/move, and it was soo clustered and full of huge red circles and red diamonds and red dots, even more so if you accepted side missions, so i stopped accepting side quests. losing chips when you die. in dark souls, you lose the souls you collected, but not your weapons or core stats/skills, meaning that you can come back and still fight like before to try and retrieve lost souls, but here, you come back weaker, more vulnerable, and not knowing what to expect - not fun.

Conclusion: major issues on ps5 made it crash often, the 2nd most after cyberpunk2077 in my experience. the story structure is confusing and unsatisfying to go through, despite interesting themes /tones/ideas. The storytelling should have been clearer, just like the map. The music and Japanese VA are a strong point. 2B and 9S look fantastic, but the surroundings not as much. the combat is good but i see room for improvement (improving lock-on, adding invincibility on attack or parrying, keeping chips when dying). it is nonetheless memorable, fun, and unique overall. 85/100

A good game, but VERY overrated. While polished and enjoyable, has many flaws. Huge lack of enemy variety, too few bosses, combat is clean but gets repetitive, the story is predictable if you are not under 14yo, and I couldn't care for any of the main characters. A good game overall and better than most of modern games, but as I said, really overrated.

I must mention the charm and artistry of the character design. Characters like 2B and the others maintain an appearance of emotionlessness, while radiating the essence of mankind's spirit consistently. As for the battle and action design, it leans toward a fast-paced style rather than being hardcore, immersing players in a touching story and an outstanding soundtrack. This narrative encourages contemplation of philosophical concepts like existence and the future, making it a satisfying experience for JRPG fans seeking action and an open-world sensation.

An Age where the Children of Mankind and Extraterrestrials are the next Generation:

    A.I. vs A.I.
When Nier Automata was announced I could not have possibly been more happy. Nier Gestalt is my second favourite game of all time. The setting, the main character, the story - I always wanted a sequel. And it is finally here. I am also a great of the ficitional theme of A.I.s, so not the ones that we as computer scientists make that do not live but the A.I.s that are actually already alive from developing a consciousness.
And Nier Automata takes exactly this theme. Drakengard already introduced A.I.s as it already consisted of Androids. Nier Automata takes it to the next level. It puts you into the role of the Androids, this time fighting machines that were brought from outer space. And as we think of it from out ordinary A.I.s, the Androids think of the machines as mere machines without consciousness and emotion. No person, no A.I. Of course this brings some twists with it within the story as Androids obviously are not the only artificial lifeforms that achieved psychological living. At the same time, while appropriate to the Drakengard series it brings several tragic questions with it concerning your side and that of the others. Granted, it is not as good for me as the first one. But I did not expect that anyway. I knew from the very beginning that it would not be the case because Nier Gestalt, so the Western Nier has a father-child story and talks about what you would do for your most precious while giving you the original you were cloned from as antagonist who of course feels exactly like you and at the same time shows that with both sides to be pities people still do not have the right to de-value other lifeforms like clones for example just because they were not born naturally or intended.
The story of Nier Automata still brings its own nice side of life and valueing and all with it and the post-apocalyptic setting together with its incredible music, character design and a wonderful combat system from platinum games does the rest.
    Con:
Unfortunately, though I love it as part of the Nier timeline, I cannot just normally enjoy Nier 2 as I did the first one. The decision of making this RPG more action-oriented heavily influenced the overall design of the game. I prefer a more simplistic style like in the first Nier where I can just sit back and enjoy instead of getting constantly frustrated. Example: Nier Automata tells you it has no auto-saves. Well, that is not 100% accurate. Still, while there are some automatic moments where you get set back in case of losing you might find yourself in trouble. In some situations you just cannot save manually and Nier 2 consists of those Gundam air battles. One of them was very long and I ran out of Potions. It should not be a thing that even on Normal difficulty you are stuck in a battle forever because you are allowed to make only very few mistakes. This is the most apparent checkpoint complaint I have but there were a few more moments. Another thing is the hacking: Hacking is a little minigame feature in the game that you just have to go through even when doing the regular storyline. The problem is, this minigame consists of just moving your analogue stick and shooting. You cannot evade anything other than by moving away, you cannot heal, you cannot really do anything in a problematic situation. The mingame consists basically of the thought of "Learn the pattern for the harder ones" but that is easier said than done often. You are allowed a few mistakes but sometimes even when already knowing what to expect the maneuvering alone might lead you to the need area where the enemy units that you want to destroy with the hacking shoot at you. There are several hacking instances which are very easy and then some where I think they should just ot have been there because whenever something needs simply too long then it should be re-considered. Hard Modes exist for a reason but why doing such frustrating things on lower difficulties - it just is an obstacle so you cannot fully enjoy and that is something I really think of as a real pity for a sequel of Nier.
Finally, the last thing I think that was very risky: The narrative style. Drakengard is always known for a very unusual narrative style both theme-wise as well as how the story is put together. The thing is: In Drakengard you might be used to the story being presented after a few playthroughs but in Nier 1 it was more like you had to go through the same storyline, then go through it again and again with just a few additions ad endings. Here you have the first two endings in the middle of the story, get more to know during run 2 and after run 2 you actually continue with what happens after those endings, so unlock the rest of the game you could say. I am fine with it but I am not sure how many people who are not used to this actually have the nerve to do 2+ runs. Still: I love Nier and recommend it.

    NieR: Automata - Yoko Taro – PlatinumGames – 2017

I wouldn't say the best story telling amongst all the games outside but it was the one and only game I wanted to achieve platinum trophy on PS4. NIER: AUTOMATA is a very traditional jrpg in terms of the replay system design, also it tops it off in character design and music which I was always struck by. The slightly lengthy sidelines and an open-world with little exploration elements are some of the game's few flaws.

What is the best PS4 game? Bloodborne, The Witcher 3, Persona 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, Rocket League, 13 Sentinels, Resident Evil 2, Devil May Cry 5, God of War, Uncharted 4? Nope it’s none of these, it is Nier: Automata, and it isn’t even that hard of a choice. Nier: Automata achieves what many games should be trying to achieve – A perfect marriage of gameplay, visuals, story and sound.

You should go into this knowing as little as possible so I’ll keep things brief. The story is one of the best ever. It is phenomenal and so effective. It’s the type of story that can only be done properly in video games. The soundtrack is one of the best ever. The game doesn’t have the biggest budget visuals but the art direction more than makes up for it. The game play is great and is a mix of action RPG and hack n slash with other ideas added in. It’s made by Platinum Games, the developers of Bayonetta, Vanquish and Astral Chain.

So why am I not giving this a high 9? Unfortunately due to the way the game plays and how the story is told there is too much repetition. You fight the same enemies and see the same locations often. Then on top of this the side quests can be bland and add to the repetition. But of course all of this is really nothing compared to how good this game is.

Are video games art? Yes, Nier: Automata proves this. Are video games on the same level as great literature and films? Yes, Nier: Automata proves this. If Roger Ebert was still with us Nier: Automata could have changed his mind on video games. Nier: Automata has the power to change you or at the very least be thought provoking and moving. Yoko Taro, the games writer and director, is a genius.

Yeah I know this review sounds hyperbolic but Nier: Automata deserves it and if this little review convinces one person to play Nier: Automata then it has been more than worth it. If you love this medium then you need to play this.

    Cons
    - route B is a repeat of route A from a different perspective and does not offer enough variation for me to be completely ok with it (though I still find it fantastic)

Nier Automata is my favorite game of all time. With that comes a heavy amount of bias from but I genuinely believe that this is gaming's finest art piece that manages to be fun. Nier is a slow burn of a story that grips you and leaves you empty and unsure of what to do with yourself after you have experienced it.

To get the cons out of the way, route B aka the second playthrough of the game is a repeat of the entire route A with slight variations to keep it interesting. There is no avoiding the fact that you are going to be retreading the same main story points through the same areas and hearing the same dialog. The added perspective of the second character you are playing is what saves that for me and I still ended up loving it even though I understand that there are a lot of people that will be discouraged by this, which is fine.

The Drakengard/Nier franchise was always unafraid to be weird and depressing, but I feel like it always served to its benefit. Automata is no different in this regard. The story is beautifully tragic leading to standout character moments that allow for the cast to shine in their unique ways.

These fantastic moments are then accompanied by some of the most perfectly fitting music ever made. There is never a moment where the soundtrack dips in quality or breaks a scene. The fact that Rays of Light, a song playing throughout the central area of the game, never gets annoying is a testimony to the simple beauty of this OST.

And then comes the ending. Nier pulls off a miracle with its ending, rarely seen in the media. There are 1000 ways to do what Automata did with its ending and 999 of them are stupid, cringeworthy and come the f on. Automata somehow manages to pull out the 1 way where it lands its themes so spectacularly that I consider this the best ending in games, movies and books.

I adore Automata and encourage anybody who is interested in this 2017 masterpiece to give it a try. You will be doing yourself a favor by playing it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Route A Review
    -Enemies are generic and boring
    - Combat is repetitive, just spam square essentially
    - 2b and 9s have no personality. 2b developed by showing her emotions but it's feels really shallow
    - The characters contradict themselves all the time between side quests and main quest cutscenes. One second she's supportive of non-combative machines and in other moments she doesn't give a toss
    - Her caring for 9s felt forced, they had like no chemistry (you find out why in future routes but it still was poorly done)
    - Voice acting in this game is amateur
    - Villains had no personality, they were just bad for the sake of it (In future routes you see why, but it still wasn't organically fleshed out)
    - Map and UI is clunky
    - Side quests were BORING
    - By the end of route A, it felt like I played a stupid anime kid's game

The one good thing about this route was the music.
5/10, the most average game ever. It tried to be deep, but it wasn't.

    Route B Review
-Very repetitive as it's the same story, but with some interesting bits.
-The delivery for some big story beats fell flat, like the info on humans. 6/10

    Route C, D, and E Review
    - Thought the story would be a mind f like people say, but it was straightforward, kinda boring actually.
    - Sometimes the game impresses you with certain sequences but it's always short-lived.
    - Last 10 mins of C and D and E were good. 7/10

The game is a 6/10 overall. It was poorly directed and executed. It was tedious, and the gameplay dragged; cut scenes featured poor voice acting(English DUB) and stiff animations. It felt like the writer was lazy by making the lore boring and meaningless. Keep in mind that I don't particularly like Eva. If you want to play Japanese games with better stories and gameplay, you should play Shadow of the Colossus and Gravity Rush. Though the story of Gravity Rush was a little disappointing, it had much better gameplay and much more interesting characters. And SOTC is a classic, highly recommend.

Thanks to NieR: Automata's absolute masterclass of a game design, the story is unparalleled! It blew my mind and it exceeded my expectations a lot of times!
Overall, NieR: Automata's narrative is one the best I've witnessed in any videogame.
The gameplay is awesome too! It plays mainly like a 3D Hack 'n' Slash but there are Shoot em Up, 2D and Bullet Hell sequences as well. That's straight up impressive.
The hacking mechanics make the gameplay a bit boring at times though.
The characters - particularly the main characters - are engaging and well-developed.
The music is absolutely phenomenal! It's one of the best parts of the game!
Lastly, the bosses are decent, the audio design is great and the animations are gorgeous.
NieR: Automata isn't flawless though; the visuals are slightly outdated and the side-quests are mostly dull.

Games are rarely philosophical like this. And even more rarely do they successfully deal with these themes and tie them into an interesting story. That's what Nier does better than any other game. Its a decent example of games as an artform, although I'd argue that it falls short of other examples such as Dark Souls and Shadow of the Colossus.

Other than that, I loved the music, and enjoyed the variety of different gameplay.

But overall, despite the variation of different gameplay, it overstays its welcome and becomes really dull. Level design and the main type of combat are pretty uninspired. Its very tedious.

1 point off for the oversexualization of the main characters too. Its just JRPG cringe.

Automata aims to explore the human condition through inhuman characters, tackling themes of identity and existentialism, but it fails at it, completely lacking the nuance to do it in a compelling way, with heavy-handed dialogue and simplistic, basic characters. Even with such flawed writing, the plot itself manages to surprise and entertain thanks to a great art direction, coupled with a beautifully melancholic soundtrack and a couple of captivating segments that take full advantage of videogames' systems and interactivity as an artistic medium to enhance the player's involvement in the narrative, even more than its predecessor did. Also like the original Nier, Automata frequently shifts its camera perspective, going from third-person to top-down, from side-scroller to isometric, giving each area a distinct exploration flare with varied battle scenarios. This framing variety accompanies combat's multifaceted structure, since the captivating blend of Action RPG and Bullet-Hell is also back. The combat system is greatly entertaining thanks to a nice weapon variety and fluid combos, while the Bullet-Hell element is now even more relevant but greatly suffers from severely repetitive battle scenarios. Physical combat has a similiar problem due to a shortage of meaningful variables unlocked throughout the experience and an extremely poor enemy variety, but the game partially makes up for it with great boss fights and a pleasantly extensive equipment system allowing players to strategically organize inventory space to add various active and passive abilities, suiting different playstyles and customizing progression.

Once you finish the first playthrough, you'll need to load from your save data to play the second playthrough and then the third playthrough to experience the whole game, and the payoff is definitely worth it!

The gameplay mechanics are incredible too, it constantly switches genres on-the-go, and it's full of surprises. My only complain is the hacking minigame, but other than that everything else is Top Tier.

Last but not least, the music is absolutely phenomenal, one of the best soundtracks ever, absolutely perfect for the game.

They say that they're bored, story isn't engaging. I think it's universal to any game that is not holding players by their hands explaining every single detail around them to build up the narrative.
Quite frankly, I'm still surprised people even consider putting this kind of argument in NieR: Automata reviews, as this game has its story unfolding right off the bat, throwing players immediately into their first mission.
Without spoilers, NieR:Automata story revolves around the question that both philosophers, although more sophisticated, and more down to earth folk think about - soul, consciousness, and possibility of both forming in inanimate objects, like androids, machines. It is question that player, through character, at some point will naturally start asking themselves throughout the course of the game. If you feel like you're not fit to answer such abstract questions, do not fret, because there are protagonists that are programmed to 'think' they're not fit to do either, and going through their story ultimately let you find the answer... the answer that director, Yoko Taro, thought would make a touching story.
I think the best part of both games in NieR series, are characters. I never thought I could be attached to videogame character in my life. In fact, before NieR I've never been attached to any protagonist of any videogame that i played. Whatever i felt during my playthrough was completely new feeling that i experienced.
Main point of NieR series is answering existential questions and feeling of compassion towards not only friendly characters, but also the ones we face.
Sadness also plays big role as, obviously, it's probably the best emotion to fill art with meaning and to put people in position to reflect on later. I think that's exactly what art is for, and NieR:Automata does it remarkably.

Having very limited time for gaming makes picky, and Nier: Automata with its playtime and art-style required a certain leap of faith from me. The result - 70+ hours playthrough on Hard level, 100% completion and conversion to a strong advocate of the game.

    STORY
If I'd have to pick what makes Nier: Automata stand out most, I would be very unoriginal and name the story. And it's not only about the potent and layered story the game delivers, but also how it does it. Nier: Automata eagerly acknowledges its medium and fully embraces it to deliver some unique storytelling. The game should be played through several times for the story to fully unfold. Upon the first completion the gamer is encouraged with a message from Square Enix to replay the game. And the ending of the first playthrough is deliberately cheesy and unconvincing, aimed to motivate the player to replaying. Further playthroughs unfold the story more and more and also affect the overall game mood in a very effective way. Also the game manages to explore existentialism topics along the story, which does not feel cheap, but very authentic.

    PRESENTATION
The graphics are not something extraordinary. The game is solid for a 1080p 60fps title (that's the baseline on PS4), but nothing more. To give a perspective, it was released in 2017, first as a PS4 only title, that's a full 2 years after the amazing MGS5 release (which was a cross-gen game btw!). However the great art-style mostly makes up for that. Also the overall atmosphere, incredible music play together very well to build up a convincing world. I myself am not a fan of vast open world games where the points of interest are scarcely scattered through the game world and where the game world is more a technological achievement and does not contribute to a more satisfying gameplay. Nier is still an open world game, but more confined and hand crafted, with enclosed areas of different sizes connected to one another. Some areas are available from the beginning and some become available through the game story progression, meanwhile all of them are simply beautiful and have great variability. Whether it's a forest, desert, city ruins, all feel authentic with matching music tracks that complement the experience.

    GAMEPLAY
Nier: Automata has basically 3 game modes - third-person action, mech piloting and hacking.
While mech piloting and hacking are less sophisticated, none of them really feels redundant and is fun to play. Hacking and mech piloting lack variety, but they are also not overused, so don't get boring.
The introduction sequence of the game does a great job of showing the game's strong gameplay design. The game starts as a top-down bullet-hell shooter, then smoothly transitions to isometric view, then to the view from back, then to a side view... These transitions also happen further in the game and are not a distraction, but complement the gameplay and bring additional variety, since the gameplay mechanics manage to stay consistent between the modes.
The same is true for the third-person action. For combat there is the classic formula - light attack, heavy attack, evade and jump, which make up all the combos. And there is also a companion POD with it's own ranged attacks.
Combat in Nier is very satisfying, on par with what one would expect from Platinum Games, especially on Hard difficulty, but it has some shortcomings.
First there's the redundancy of different weapons acquired during the playthrough. I never really felt the urge to use more than a few most powerful ones.
And then there's the POD. On easy modes you can even set it up to auto-aim, but even without that the POD is a great help (especially since it also can be upgraded). It helps to avoid engaging in unwanted melee combat, which in turn makes some boss fights in open spaces way too easy.
Another complaint would be from completionist players' perspective. The game has a great replay value, with very interesting and insightful side-quests. Though for a full progression some resources need to be farmed for weapon upgrades, which on its own is not a bad thing, but some particular resources can be farmed in particular locations with a low drop rate, meaning a routine work of reloading and playing the same unchallenging sequence over and over again.

A game which truly transcends genres and pushes the limit of medium itself. Only negative is that combat can be a little boring and repetitive.

This is truly a masterpiece in terms of: Story telling, art, music, scenery, character development, and ending.

It is a must play for the PS4 and PS5.

I struggled through this game until the bitter end, and although that ending was cool, the experience left me frustrated. Its set in an open world, but that world is empty and boring. After the 1/3rd mark in the game it became clear that I just wanted to get to the end, hearing good things about the story made me think that this would redeem it. Skipping side-missions and rushing through main missions I acknowledge that this left me underleveled for some later missions. But the difficulty spike is steep, leaving what was already mundane combat, also needlessly difficult. The last half of the game was played on easy mode. The remainder of my play-through was a glorified lets play because of this, at-least allowing me to participate in its story. This too however left me frustrated, the story never gets much better. There are certainly interesting concepts at play here, but fumbled horribly with bad writing, unlikable characters, and what I felt were very predictable twists. Despite it landing its ending, I find myself wishing I had left the controller down after one of the many encounters when the visuals got too confusing to see the overpowered enemies. Expand

The music was literally the only reason I finished the game, as the story in route C (which was supposed to be "godlike") turned out to be...meh. The philosophy was supposed to be "out of this world", in truth the philosophical motives discussed during the game were high-school level, aside from the fact that they were investigated into at a very superficial level. The philosophy was supposed to be "out of this world", in truth the philosophical motives discussed during the game were high-school level, aside from the fact that they were investigated into at a very superficial level. Is this game mostly played by kids who are only now being introduced to the thoughts and works of Nietzsche and the like? Because it sure as hell looks like it. The game may give you a feeling of emptiness and depression after beating it, but that’s about it.
I was hoping for a “transcendental journey” and “deep reflection on the condition of modern humanity”, but I didn’t get to experience anything which would even remotely resemble the ubiquitous praise and high esteem perpetuated by a number of players in this regard.
Pushing yourself to finish the game if you don’t feel like playing it is a mistake. Believing players that you should force yourself to finish route B, which has some major faults in game design, only to proceed with the story, is a mistake. Don’t get me started on combat mechanics, graphics, etc., as the game falls short in this department as well. In my particular case, it’s over 20 hours down the drain.

The game in which I plunge into its wide world. It is a game with attractive characters, designs like Simone, and a great story.

One of the most special & unique games I've ever played. I don't want to spoil it for you, but I can safely say that this is one of the best stories I've ever experienced, I haven't played a game that tells a tragic story in such a special way ever before. Once you finish the first playthrough, you'll need to load from your save data to play the second playthrough & then the third playthrough to experience the whole game, and the payoff is definitely worth it! The gameplay mechanics are incredible too, from very smooth Hack 'n' Slash action, to Bullet Hail, and then Platformer, it's honestly full of surprises. Last but not least, the music is absolutely phenomenal, one of the best soundtracks ever. This game is an unforgettable masterpiece. Expand

I beat the game a few days ago, and I'm not sure what score to give it yet. It feels like a lot to process. At the start of the game, it feels like what's going to be an awesome and fun open world to explore. The music, combat, and characters were and are still great. But to say the least, things take a turn after playing the 2nd ending.

It becomes more than just a videogame. Things get real bad, real fast. Everything you are attached to (and in my case, very attached) is either tainted or destroyed. 2B getting infected was sad, but I can't remember anything in a videogame that made me feel more pain than the whole thing with pascal.

Personally, I got ending D first. The reason for this is because while I knew picking A2 was the better option, I let my attachment to 9S control the decision after the game said "are you sure". I told myself I would just go back and get the other one after I saw what happened, which I did. After picking A2, I'm not even sure if I can call ending E happy. It's probably the best I could get, but the story still hurts.

As I said I don't even know how I feel about it on an emotional level. Was the experience good? Am I glad I played it? I don't know. I will say that the game is very well put together and definitely did it's job. The only criticism I have is that the PC port isn't good and you need to replay the first ending as 9S, but maybe I made a mistake in skipping out on the side quests.

Pros: controls, combat, characters, soundtrack, story, world building

    Cons: pain.

Nier Automata is one of the greatest games I have ever played so far. I know I am 17 but I guess there wont be another game beeing as grade as automata. It has a deep story with the big questions in life. It also has funny moments and a great world to expllore. In my opinion it is the best rpg ever.

Nier: Automata is a masterclass in philosophical and morals-based storytelling, character writing, and astounding emotional world-building, with one of the greatest soundtracks in video game history. though falls short with a mediocre combat system and copy-cat JRPG elements.

Nier: Automata delivers compelling characters and story writing, where androids are fighting against machines in a never ending war, asking characters to cope with the meaningless of life by creating their own; with philosophical themes such as personal meaning and existentialism; the meaning to live, love, fight, the dread and despair that comes through the struggle of living in their broken world. With morality questions given to the player, asked by the "good guys" and "bad guys" presented in a gray and gray way. No one is necessarily wrong or right, they are simply doing what they feel they must, given their circumstances. Nier: Automata asks the player for empathy for these characters, even if the morality of a character is put to question through their actions.

I find that in Nier: Automata worldbuilding is a consistent vessel for the story-telling, you might ask "Isn't this obvious?", and yes, the deteriorated buildings, buildings engulfed in nature; the barely surviving androids in a constant war living in basically primitive environments. It's all very telling of the time Nier: Automata is set in, a far into the future, post-human apocalyptic world. The depressive nature of the design ties in nicely to the storytelling thematic. The world isn't romanticized for the sake of having a "prettier" world; its made to be horribly boring, even ugly, ran down and give you feelings of dread and doom as if there's no point, everything's gone so why continue? It immerses you so much deeper than if there was unrealistically large beautiful nature and interesting prop-like architecture choices by the developers like The Last of Us 2 and Fallout 4; it follows the depressive environment seen in games like Metro Exodus and it's done to perfection.

Combat in Nier: Automata is... Serviceable, while not being overly boring, it does what it needs to and that's about it. There's basic JRPG skill tree elements, levels, EXP gain and combat stats, though presented differently, still nothing innovative. Overall bosses are pretty simple; the variety of weapons gives the player small feelings of choice, but combat in Nier: Automata mostly comes down to button mashing, with small switch-ups.

Last but not least & arguably the most impressive part of Nier: Automata is the Soundtrack, composed mainly by Keiichi Okabe, we are given one of the most outstanding OSTs in media and more specifically in this medium. It's loud, grand and beautiful; the music ties well into the narrative. Specific moments are built up to astounding climaxes, and other moments fill you with sadness or a bittersweet feeling.

Nier: Automata is a patient players game; it may only be respected by those with a keen eye for brilliant storytelling and character writing. If given that attention, sits a masterfully crafted entry into the Nier franchise, and is one of the greatest achievements of this medium.

NieR Automata: Beyond Gods Edition was a total shock to me with how much I enjoyed it. It takes a very solid experience for me to enjoy an RPG lately and NieR grabbed me quite well from the beginning and kept me entertained throughout. It's the type of game where I want to do everything that I possibly can just to make the experience longer - a type of game I rarely find nowadays. I went into NieR Autamata with no expectations other than the good gameplay that I usually find from Platinum Games, I went away floored with a near perfect action game.

NieR: Automata is not for everybody. In fact, the game looks to be aimed at the most refined fans of the medium by not caring about the regular gaming conventions, in the same way the works of David Lynch are perfect for the hardcore moviegoers.
