    Shovelware. That's what this is. The experience is as minimal as possible and reminds of the games that used to be bundled with video cards back in the 1990s. As tech tests, they were not bad. As games, they were mediocre. Monster Energy Supercross game is mediocre at best, and usually frustratingly terrible.

    The core gameplay is minimal. You ride a bike on a dirt track in a stadium.    Shovelware. That's what this is. The experience is as minimal as possible and reminds of the games that used to be bundled with video cards back in the 1990s. As tech tests, they were not bad. As games, they were mediocre. Monster Energy Supercross game is mediocre at best, and usually frustratingly terrible.

    The core gameplay is minimal. You ride a bike on a dirt track in a stadium. There are jumps and bumps like you expect from supercross. There is no contour to the dirt track, no particle effects or other indication of flying dirt. Physics are minimal. For example, landing from a long jump does not affect the bike's shocks. The machine is as rigid as any game from 20 years ago. A reverse time mechanic from The GRID lets you fix mistakes, and I quickly found that winning was easy if I was willing put up with time reversal for every mistake.

    The controls are simply terrible. One stick controls bike steering and another controls bike leaning. They could be combined because turning and leaning go together when playing a bike based videogame. Further pushing finger dexterity, one button controls front brakes and one controls rear brakes. This might tickle a supercross enthusiast, but I would rather have a simpler, more fun control scheme. When making such a low quality game, why not have options that appeal to a larger audience? (Because the developers of these niche titles were probably given a fixed budget.)

    Outside of the core gameplay, the menu system is frustrating to the point where I every moment outside of a race is excruciating torture. For starters, you have to hit X about 20 times to start a race and to end a race and go back to the menu. Each menu screen has its own load times, which is ridiculous for such a low parity game. Players can pick their racers and bikes in a system that provides micro-transactions, and all of the racers have the lowest fidelity faces, gear, and bikes I have seen this generation. The game as a whole would be better if it had no menu system, and players went from race to race.

    The game may have been redeemed by its track editor. I like the idea of track editor and love the idea that community made tracks can give old games new life. But not here. Just look at any of the 7000 pages of community tracks, that aren't searchable, and you can see the limitations. The tools do not allow for making interesting tracks, and all tracks will be in a stadium at night. (Again, I can see the fixed budget. The developer was probably told: make a supercross game, include famous supercross racers, have microtansactions, include on-line play, and include a track editor. Quality doesn't matter.)

    Full disclosure: Monster Energy Supercross is a the PS Plus "free" game for December, 2019. I don't follow supercross. I do like racing games, sometimes. Enthusiasts should be disappointed at the lack of quality. What they should want is a game that will appeal to everyone and bring people into the sport. It certainly looks insane to watch a pack of riders jump their bikes 30 feet into the air. So all-in-all this game does a disservice to the general audience and commits a crime against fans of supercross.    … Expand

    The game is the worst game I HAVE EVER PLAYED. And that says a lot, since I am 28 and have played on every Playstation console and almost every other consoles there is in this gaming univers. But this game is the worst, you dont get any help from the beginning on how to control the bike or anything, you have to figure everything out by yourself.     I played all motocross games en ride motocross myself and i can tell you that this is by far the best motocross game ever. Bikes respond good , steering is to the point. The ability to build your own circuits is awesome and sharing them online even more. About a week ago this game came out and there are already more then 15.000 own build tracks to be shared...!     This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. By far the best Motocross/Supercross Game ever...and I played them all!
    IMPORTANT!: Once You buy it, It's necessary to URGENTLY UPDATE the Game, don't even try it without the newest Update because the release Version is unfinished and is not as far as good like with the new Patch 2.5 Gb. Milestone listened the testers and tried to fix almost all errors, and they did very well with this patch.
    Without Update = Sucks (sound failures, weak opponents, texture failure, lame intro, just not ready!)
    With Update = Almost all Errors are fixed and now is fun to play! The best MX/SX Game ever but still potential to make it even better!

    Milestone created this game using the, Unreal 3 engine which is at least 8 years old and it shows. Do not waste your money on this game! It is an abomination!

    Floating physics
    Lag on starts to the point where the screen freezes
    Insane loading times...60 seconds plus.
    Little to no feed back on controls

    I've been waiting for an official AMA supercross/motocross game for years, and if you're a hardcore Supercross fan like me, you'll love this game.. even if it does feel like it could A LOT better.

    First thing is first. It's pretty clear that this a rework of the MXGP 3 game from last year, despite some definite improvements and it being a different series (sport even), that's blindingly    I've been waiting for an official AMA supercross/motocross game for years, and if you're a hardcore Supercross fan like me, you'll love this game.. even if it does feel like it could A LOT better.

    First thing is first. It's pretty clear that this a rework of the MXGP 3 game from last year, despite some definite improvements and it being a different series (sport even), that's blindingly obvious. It's 90% the same game. Pros and cons:

    Negatives:
    - The game is based on the 2017 Supercross series which started more than 12 months before the game's release. Unlike nearly every sports game on the market (usually released BEFORE the season of it's sport), this game is not current. The 2018 season was 5 rounds in before the 2017 season's game release. There's now different rider's in each class on different bikes etc. I can't see a reason why the game can't be produced to cover the current season (possibly because of the tracks), so I feel this is a big negative.
    - The games biggest mode, Career, is exactly the same as MXGP, which is really disappointing. There's hardly anything new here. You start as a privateer, select a sponsor, race, upgrade the bike, wait for offers from official teams. No story, nothing interactive, no difficult decisions to make, nothing to really express yourself or your rider's personality. It's just all about the racing - which is ok if that's all you want, but other sports games have moved on and have more immersive career experience. If you've played the MXGP career you will be bored after an hour and will only be playing for the racing. The addition of same badges does little, and is more annoying for the player than rewarding. They missed a big opportunity here...
    - Lack of avatars for your rider. Only a handful of faces for riders available, and all of them are pretty ugly too. Given the ridiculous amount of customisation of the bike and gear available this seems odd. They need a face editor in the next edition, maybe even a gameface scanner.
    - Gameplay realistic "normal" physics are not realistic. You can case a triple and just bounce off it, land on another rider and not crash, tough blocks slow you down but don't make you crash (ever). There should be much more less forgiving physics mode that makes it more of a simulation rather than easy arcade game. You will however get stuck on the inside of corner and have to reverse, or crash for no obvious reason occasionally.
    - The technical sections of tracks don't feel technical because you're able to fly through it without worrying about crashing (because of the physics issue above). Nailing a section isn't usually any faster and therefore not very rewarding (there's not enough flow).
    - Lappers (if you race the full length racers) get in your way and once you catch them they are suddenly able to keep up with you and race you. I've led races by 10+ seconds only to have been slowed down by lapper that keeps battling and lose the lead.
    - Cut scenes, while a welcome and necessary edition to career, are pretty lame and look like they belong in a game from 10 years ago. Also they serve no purpose. - there's no interview when you get on podium etc.
    - Frame rates on the race starts is really bad. Some riders ghost and disappear entirely in the first turn. Hopefully something they can fix.
    - Every AI rider gets a good start out of the gate - just not very realistic.
    - AI riders show no flair/individuality. They all race the same way, no scrubs, railing corners, wheeling through whoops. The fast riders are faster than the slow riders, otherwise they're all the same.
    - No soundtrack. The same music gets old and annoying after half an hour.
    - You can (still) basically turn when you're in the air.
    - No Eli Tomac. Why? Having one of the sports top riders not in the game is pretty odd, but I'm sure there's a reason.

    Positives
    - Visually it's very impressive, beautiful even. And looks like an official Supercross game should. You definitely feel like you're racing Supercross, and the series is represented really well.
    - Gameplay/racing is challenging (if a little frustrating at times) and slightly improved on MXGP3.
    - The AI riders take different lines and are pretty aggressive in corners, just like the real thing. And importantly they don't all bunch up and race really close the whole race, they actually pull gaps on each other. You could be lapping a slow rider while battling another rider for position, which is realistic - although as mentioned lappers will also battle you like their life depends on it.
    - Customisation is insane. There's so many brands and parts for bikes and gear, it would take hours to go through it all.
    - In general the bikes look, sound and feel great.
    - Track editor is good.

    Overall I think it's a great game, but like the MXGP games lacks any real depth as far as career. The good still outweighs the bad, and if this is to be series then it's a good start and the only way is up.    … Expand

    I started playing this game on Very-Easy mode, to get to know the game, and learn to race. Made it thru 2 seasons on that, went to Easy mode. Well, Easy was far from that. During qualifying, all racers seem to be faster than you.    This game can be fun at times. And at times, it can be really really REALLY annoying. So annoying, I literally clicked it's folder and did a SHIFT-DELETE.

During qualifying, all racers seem to be faster than you. Getting 40th place is common. No big deal, go to the heat and race. Well, even on Easy, there always seemed to be 1-3 racers who were as fast as you, or faster. They'd commonly fly over me on jumps. I'd have to beat them on the corners. In 450 class, on Easy mode, it was very very challenging. On one side, I liked that. But I was choosing Easy as practice. I can only imagine how difficult Pro would be. But what made me delete the game was the mechanics. It seemed like i was racing on the moon a lot of times. My bike would fly all over the place. And God help you if you landed on one of those rubber bumpers. Your bike would go nuts. It'd do wheelies, spin around 720degrees, and kinda get stuck like glue.

    Sometimes your bike would just get all squirmy and do a 360 for no reason. CRASH!

    Most times, if you bumped into another bike, you would crash, other bike would be fine. If you took a jump high, and landed on top of a bike, YOU would crash, other bike would be fine. If another bike landed on you, YOU would crash, other bike would be fine.

    This game reminded me of a motorbike version of Forza, where you would constantly get hit with a pit maneuver and get taken out. I kept telling myself, it's my racing skill, I just had to get better. But no matter what, I couldn't get over the mechanics of the game.

Holy frick am I disappointed, and as a loyal racer I’m dissatisfied with this game just how my wife is disappointed with my little boy genitalia. Very bad game. When I crack my monster energy and fire up a motocross game I expect vagina and tid when I cross the finish line. No exceptions. 0/10 you cuck losers.

ME SX TE is a brilliant game and while it's not perfect it gets a lot of things right, so here's some good and bad points about this game.

    The Good
    - Needles to say graphically this game is AMAZING and borderline photo realistic at times. The motion blur filter that kicks in during the races makes for a sensational feeling of speed and keeps the adrenaline rolling throughout the races.

    - The amount of content here is huge, All 17 tracks in the official FIM SX championship with both the 250 East and West championships and the 450 full season. Plus the track editor and the ability to do custom championships on yours and other peoples custom made tracks is enough to keep anyone entertained for months.

    - The amount of Bike and Rider customisation is massive with all major Bike Manufacturers, Tonnes of contributing MX Brands with tonnes of products on offer that all look great and true to life.

    - The racing itself is absolutely fantastic. Coupled with the motion blur filter as mentioned before, the aggressive A.I. and the balanced difficulty, the racing in this game can be nail biting at times. While the learning curve may be a bit steep at first.

    - The handling and response in this game is the best of any motoX game yet and the weight and balance controls really work this time unlike the previous MXGP titles.

    The Bad
    - As mentioned earlier the graphics are fantastic but for some reason the day time graphics during practice and qualifying sessions aren't nearly as good as the night time graphics in the races and the motion blur filter isn't present which makes a difference.

    - The character models of the official riders are pretty ugly and the game also lacks a custom character creator, the custom rider only has a select number of pre-made character models to choose from and they are all pretty ugly except for two. Even to just be able to change the hair and skin colour on them would have made a huge difference.

    - Lack of depth in the career mode! This seems to be the gripe with most of Milestone's work. The Career mode is fun but its stock standard. Select a rider, gear and bike to start off with, go race, earn credits to buy more stuff, progress from 250 up to 450... Thats it! The NBA 2K games have set a solid benchmark of what how immersive the career mode in a sports game can be. Milestone would do well to take note of that.

    In conclusion; while MTX Mototrax is still the best MX game of all time, Monster Energy Supercross is the best MX game since 2011's MX Vs ATV Reflex. This coupled with the also recently released 'Gravel' is showing that Milestone are fast improving and they could very well have a masterpiece on their hands soon    … Expand

    Out of all the good/ decent games Playstation could have gotten pulled out for free this month one of them has to be a half finished motorcycle racer that's clearly made only to advertise Monster's energy drinks. This games is just so bland and you could tell there was not even a regular amount of effort effort put into it. There are plenty of cheap racing games that are worth the price or you could just play better ones on PS Now.… Expand

    No information on the ***** controls. I had to *** google it and still din't find a jacks crap. The first screen says "...get used to the controls..." and nothing explained. Have no idea when to start. and what to push... no countdown. Some riddling terms and conditions in the beginning i have to accept without reading (rejected) no idea what for. Deleted after 5 minutes.

    Super buggy physics that dosent allow to enjoy any other aspect of that game. Just wasted 17£ and deleted the game. Mx vs ATV encore from 2014 does everything better than this crap. If u have physical copy with that game i suggest to drown it in Red Bull

    Monster Energy Supercross game brings not so globally known sport to gamers. And although true fans of the sport might find this great, the rest will forget this title in the sea of racing video games, as it won’t leave big impact on you. Beside looking good, Monster Energy Supercross offers a bit improved MXGP game, but not improved enough.
