    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Disappointed to not see continuation of the dark ones based on them being in both previous games and the idea of them left open to come back. They also kill off Artyom so does this mean no more metro at all?
    I'm a 48yr old female gamer who doesn't like car games or football or final fantasy games, so Metro would not have been my usual taste but I quickly got addicted to finding out what happened and wanting more but Exodus left me disappointed. It feels left unfinished    … Expand

    Cons: First of all....WHY DOES ARTYOM NOT HAVE A VOICE TO THIS DAY! I'm mad because this game is tooooo **** good for him not to have a voice. For example Anna and Artyom is such a good fit together but he does not have a voice so it kinda make it abit awkward. Another thing has to be the movement, it felt abit slow...compared to Last Light at least. Last thing has to be the Combat, the combat is great, don't get me wrong. But I can't help to notice that sometimes when I'm fighting somone I could stand right in their face like kissing range and shoot them and SOME HOW the bullet goes right through them without **** happening to the enemy.

    Pros: So for the pros..the Graphics, absolutely stunning. I mean sure, I played Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light recently but the graphics in this game is amazing. Also I love the damn attention to detail I'm this game. The fog that appears when you have your mask equipped, the snow and rain that textures the mask the further you go without wiping it off. The combat is also super nice. The combat feels even more smooth now. However I am not a big fan of the stealth in this game compared to Last Light, this is not a Con by the way do not worry, it is just a personal opinion. However back to my point. The combat feels amazing in this game with the enemies giving up and surrendering which makes the game feel much more realistic.

    Story: Now for the story...Artyom is back....HOW?! HOW IS HE BACK?! so in the first game he detonated a bomb to kill of the "black ones" he was standing ontop of a tower while doing it too so I am curious how he survived that. Then in the second game he activated a self destruct button to destroy their base that was taken over. Both Artyom and Colonel Miller died in that explosion and somehow they're back in Metro Exodus..which is set in 2035...and last light was set in 2034. As I got further into the game I noticed one thing, they changed the controls alot. I am not mad about this since they actually made it much better. It's much easier to access things. I also love the upgrades you can find throughout the levels/areas, before I talk about that let me just finish my point. You can find a compass early on that you can attach on your gauntlet. It shows you where you have to go and it's so easy to see compared to the other games where you have to bring up a whole check list. About the levels/area. The game is now area based. Before it was more like a small level that you wandered through. In Exodus it's like a mini open world. I like it to be honest, the thing I love about it is that the world feels alive for being so dead. For example the survivors will find your car for example and comment about it. Also there's a weather system and a daytime cycle. Amazing. Oh also I HAVE LEGS! Anyways, this review is getting to long so imma hurry it up. One quick thing...HOLY **** Anna looks absolutely beautiful. She was mentioned in 2033 and introduced in Last Light. And damn she looks so beautiful compared to Last Light. As you progress into the story you will eventually get a train and honestly spending time on the train is so wonderful and so wholesome. For example you can cuddle with Anna your wife which was super cute, too bad that Artyom doesn't have a voice. Also you can do other activities like play guitar. There was even a wedding ceremony. Now for the end...basically Anna is getting sick, so we have to look for medicine....we found the cure for her....but it was too late for Artyom and the ending was super **** sad since she dreamed of finding a place to relax at, something beautiful like one of her post cards...and that's exactly where she buried Artyom....

    this game is an enormous turd made by morons. All the mechanics are bad as hell... Gameplay is boring, there are many glitches.... Everuthing isd wrong in that crappy thing (i cant call that a game)

    The best stuff: The slow movement on ps5. I see that a lot here think it is a bad thing. I assume that would be due to people being used to "Call ofDuty". This is a horror/realistic Russian soldier simulation. Being slow adds to the immersion and tension. I was really scared knowing that if there is was an enemy behind me, it would take time before i turned around, making it a scary gameThe best stuff: The slow movement on ps5. Secondly, I see some complain about the English with bad Russian accent, i have an insane solution: play in Russian. It is a beautiful language, it is more realistic to hear it than English, and the lip animations matches better, naturally. Other general positives are: the immersion, the map/interior designs, and the crafting. I like the pace of the story -Anna and Miller feel real and really cary the story and incentive - and the ending is the best part, both memorable and emotional. Finally, choosing to go with these mini open worlds was a great idea imo, it is what makes this game special - along with the many locations and dungeons you can enter.

    What could be improved: With a strong beginning and end, the middle section of the story was not great/memorable. There is also a lack of villain or goal (that changes towards the end however, which is the best part of the story for me) The soundtrack was good, i've heard better though. The AK-47 is pretty weak... and kept jamming. The ability to change the 3rd weapon slot for a weapon of our choice would have been appreciated.

    Issues: I cant think of a big issue which made me dislike the game. That being said, indoor lighting had some issues, and long distance rendering and facial expressions were not great for a 2019 game. The loading screens and the fact that the protagonist cannot reply to others are disappointing too, but nothing major.

    My conclusion: some things about the game remind me of ps3 games. it is held back technologically, but i assume they did not have a huge budget. Still, with what they had, they made a great game. The shooting and immersion are really fun (or scary sometimes lol). The ending was great. With some additional voice acting, graphics, and more weapons, this game would have gotten a 9 from me. I think I paid 5£ - great value. A must try if you like horror, Russia, post-apocalyptic worlds, and/or immersion. I'm giving it an 81/100    … Expand

    Hands down my favorite game in the Metro Series. There is less of mystical stuff. Game is generally focused on post-apocalyptic survival and exploration. I consider Metro Exodus a fully fledged AAA first person story game. That's a mouthful, but it is a great leap forward for the series as a whole. Previous two titles were AA quality, but still awesome. Metro Exodus is excellent.

    This game is perfect. It's the rare third game in a series that is somehow better than the previous games. Metro series is one of the best series in gaming off all time. Play them all.

    It's really good game, with excellent atmosphere. Plot is interesting, characters are amazing and ending really sad. The only big game minuses could be the poor quality of some animations or sounds and fact that protagonist can't speak. But until you return to Aurora (The train with which the characters are travelling in Russia) and listen to the Dialogues of your crew members, all theseIt's really good game, with excellent atmosphere. Сюжет не затягнутий, а цікавий, тебе не тягнуть в додаткові місця, хочеш йдеш сам, не хочеш - йдеш далі за основним сюжетом, є навіть варіативність проходження, стелс, гучний бій, якісь обходи, навіть є механіка карми яка впливає на пряму на кінцівку.

    З неприємних моментів, можу виділити лиш    Крутий та унікальний геймплей, сучасна графіка, шедевральний сюжет, один з найкращіх, дійсно.     This game would have been good 10 years ago but doesn't hold up today. For starters the story just felt a bit generic and didn't bring anything to the table that we haven't already heard somewhere else. Melee is basically useless so if you run out of bullets just run away and find some cos melee is weak and never hits the target. You have a knife but it hits with your gun for some reason aswell? This is subjective but I wish we had actual cutscenes and your character spoke. Atleast then this game would offer with previous titles didn't. Another thing I found weird was that by default controller speaker is off in settings? Why would you not have the PlayStation features on by default? Look acceleration sucks and you can't disable it. I prefer games in a lower sensitivity but this game is low even with it turned right up. Loading screens are long even on Ps5 with SSD. Sometimes the game would be a bit buggy like getting stuck in places and stuff. It's free on PS plus premium thou so play it on there lol.… Expand

    A really very immersive one with an exciting ending, despite being "linear" you have the freedom to move around the game and choose what you want to do, as inside the train they are very interesting despite the long conversations, the game is not extremely challenging but it is good in the proposal "horror" is very worth to be played and I look forward to the continuation.

    Its a good stealth game, graphically stunning. Havent played the first two. As a shooter the game is not so good, since you die with 2 bullets, its hard to stealth too since most of your weapons alert enemies. And if you see a bat mutant flying around and you decide to fight it, prepare to lose every ammo and resource you have, because these things never die.

Gráficamente el juego es una delicia, y la evolución con respecto a los anteriores en cuanto a jugabilidad e interfaz es muy positiva. Si nos centramos en las misiones propias de la historia, mantenemos la esencia de las entregas anteriores, con opciones de optar por el sigilo o por la confrontación directa a base de balazos, teniendo cada opción unas repercusiones diferentes en la historia. Personalmente creo que el juego es mucho más disfrutable si se intenta pasar en sigilo la mayor parte del tiempo posible, ya que como shooter tradicional pierde su esencia y, por tanto, gran parte de su calidad y encanto. Con respecto a la calidad de la trama, la historia es cuanto menos digna, aun que personalmente la pondría un paso por detrás de las anteriores entregas, ya que le falta, a mi parecer, algún elemento que te haga engancharte a ella, elementos que si aparecían en Metro 2033 y Last Night. No obstante creo que su calidad gráfica, su ambientación, su historia y todas las horas que ofrece (si quieres completarlo al máximo con sus dos finales y el platino echarás unas 20 horas) hacen de Metro Exodus un juego notable.    … Expand

    The Metro games are some of the best FPS games i have ever played. Exodus is 4A Games best one yet. The characters, music and overall story along with beautiful graphics and great stealth, combat and exploration make this one of if not my favorite game ever made.

    Ну что-ж, пришло моё время сделать обзор на эту не без прекрас хорошую игру, да, я не могу назвать её идеальной или шедевральной т.к. в ней есть много багов и недоработок, но антураж в данной игре перекрывает все её минусы.
    Сюжет.
    Так как я ранее не играл в игры серии Metro, то "ВАУ" эффект я получил в 3-4 раза больше нежели если я бы поиграл в предыдующие игры этой серии, но от себя    Ну что-ж, пришло моё время сделать обзор на эту не без прекрас хорошую игру, да, я не могу назвать её идеальной или шедевральной т.к. в ней есть много багов и недоработок, но антураж в данной игре перекрывает все её минусы.
    Сюжет.
    Так как я ранее не играл в игры серии Metro, то "ВАУ" эффект я получил в 3-4 раза больше нежели если я бы поиграл в предыдующие игры этой серии, но от себя могу сказать что концовка заставила меня пустить скупую слезу главного героя, безусловно я мог бы пройти игру на хорошую игру, но об этом чуть позже.
    Эта игра заставит даже самого стойкого и воспитанного человека невольно сказать что-то на подобие "Ут, сцуки я бы вам трёпку показал, ненавижу вас бандюги сраные". Эта игра может показать такие красоты, даже в столь умопомрачающей атмосфере что хочется просто расцеловать человека который делал локации в этой игре, но в тоже время в игре есть куча недочётом и маленьких деталей которые выбивают тебя из калеи постапокалептического выживания.
    Выбор, в этой игре ты мало когда столкнёшься с реальным выбором, разве что только когда выберешь убить врага или просто оглушить, но нет, даже столь маленькая сраная деталь изменила моё отношение к игре, так как в этой игре я отыгрывал роль последней mрази, и делал это с большим успехом, то я выкашивал всех и вся, даже добрых второстепенных персонажей(К примеру мужик на лесопилке который пил чай с 2 трупами). И в итоге за моё мразотное отношение ко всей жизни в этой игре игра меня наказала печальной концовкой, увидев которую я понял что всего этого можно было избежать.
    Битвы и остальное.
    Битвы тут мало как изменились с прошлых частей(ролики с прохождением куплинова), и поэтому из заметных изменений тут только то, что теперь нету торговцев, ты сам себе всё крафтиш и делаешь изделия для выживания.
    Итог.
    В итоге я могу сказать лишь одно......Это безусловно интересная и красивая игра, я не пожалел что потратил на неё деньги(использовал свой американский аккаунт для покупки)
    Безусловно она стоила своих денег и того времени что я на неё потратил, но от себя скажу что лучше всё таки пройти сначала прошлые игры этой серии.
    Upd. В связи с спецоперацией на территории Украины я вспомнил эту игру и мне показалось что возможно это будующая жизнь в России, надеюсь что такого не случиться ни с одной из стран этого мира.

    Einer der besten Story-games die ich je gespielt habe. Jeder Charakter erzählt so eine Spannende und mitreißende Geschichte, wenn man ihnen den auch Zuhört. Das Gameplay bleibt seinen Vorgängern Treu, und die Mechanic mit dem Rucksack ist genial und sieht auch noch gut aus. .......

    Ich könnte hier noch 10 Stunden weiterschreiben also fasse ich mich kurz eine 10/10

    una nueva entrega de metro con muchos cambios y mecánicas, lamentablemente lo que caracteriza a metro es la ambientación de los túneles, los sofocantes túneles era lo que brillaba. ahora se abre pasa para dar una experiencia mas al modo fallout, que mira no está nada mal pero ese cambio de aires fue algo no tsan bien implementado

    This is by far the best Metro game. The main thing I like about Exodus is the atmosphere, in a lot of instances you won't want to go somewhere because you'll be worried about what's lurking. It has some of the best looking weather I have seen in the game. I have to bring the score down because it is clunky to play, a lot of the controls feel unresponsive compared to other games. However, IThis is by far the best Metro game. The main thing I like about Exodus is the atmosphere, in a lot of instances you won't want to go somewhere because you'll be worried about what's lurking.     I played the PS5 version of this game but did not have the complete edition so here I am. I have very mixed emotions about this game. I believe it legitimately had the chance to be something close to a masterpiece, but it is so clunky in some weird areas. Dialogue and sound in this game feels so weird, uncomfortable and out of place, and the ambience is kind of underwhelming.     I really liked this game. I have read the original books about Metro and finally managed to play this game.
    The shooting overall is fine, the crafting process as well as the exploring the world processes are also great. But the best feature of this game is the story itself and the atmosphere. I think this game is a “must-play” because of its atmosphere and the plot, which are truly awesome.

    I played the previous games before playing Exodus, and I definitely think this one is better. Although not a huge fan of the switch away from the underground, this game was just as immersive and better than the previous ones across all aspects.

Movement and sensitivity is undoubtedly unsuitable but this can turn itself around as offering a more slower paced, tactical speed-restricter which can fit the atmosphere well. Voice acting is below average, there appears to be hit-reg problems but I think this is as a result of little bullet drop-off representation mechanics and appears as if bullets go straight through enemies. One of the top few best gunplay engines I've seen despite sensitivity issues. feels only months away from a flawless game. If it had released like this it would have had a phenomenal reception, very close to a masterpiece.… Expand

    Really enjoyed this. There's nothing amazingly new or innovative about it, it is just a very solid, mini open-world shooter that doesn't pretend to be anything it's not, and is very, very capable at what it does.

    Looks good, faultless technically, and I played it start to finish without getting bored.

    Pretty enjoyable. It's not really an 8/10, but also isn't "mixed" as the 7/10 would suggest. Open world parts don't work that well (I didn't like the Caspian level at all), but when the game gets linear it's really really good. Basic but solid gameplay, good graphics, gripping story. Bit shorter than I'd like.

    This game is very mediocre. Story is ok, nothing groundbraking or really inspiring. Gameplay is mediocre at best. Not a great shooter and a very poor stealth game. Graphics is sometimes nice, but character animation is very poor. Generally, it’s not very bad, but there are better games to waste your time on.

    I got sold to this game because of the graphics, I guess. But what a mistake this was. I'd rather roll around in sh*t than play this game again. The loading times are absolutely atrocious. Horrible gameplay. Bad sound. Characters get stuck in walls. It was simply a very bad experience overall and I'm not that hard to please. I have no clue why so many people like this game.

Те, кто укоряет игру за слабый сюжет, кажется, нихрена не поняли замысел разработчиков, потому что поезд с красноречивым именем "Аврора" на полном ходу мчится по СОВРЕМЕННОЙ РОССИИ. Главные герои бегут из Москвы с её идеологией аля кругом враги, они верят, тем не менее, что адекватных людей за пределами Москвы больше, но встречают на своем пути лишь попов, стопящих развитие технологий, необразованных дикарей и толпищу ненасытных людоедов заместо правительства, непонятно как на место этого правительства попавших, но невероятным образом им удается удерживать власть двадцать лет и ОБМАНЫВАТЬ всех вокруг)) Особенно, доставила сцена, где предводитель каннибалов сразу начинает что-то затирать героям, но ему без промедления режут горло, только б сказки его не слушать. И не просто так игра напрямую говорит игроку, что Каспий в сотню раз хуже Ямантау, потому что нет ничего ужаснее, чем лицезреть безвольный, рабский, поставленный на колени народ! А уж какие виды открываются с поезда! Примерно тоже самое я вижу на каждой станции, когда выхожу на перекур по дороге в Сибирь - дороги, как после бомбежки, и серые города, чуть ли не лежащие в руинах. Так что Exodus невероятно смелый и глубокий шедевр, душевный и печальный, предназначенный в первую очередь для тех, кто любит вдумчивое прохождение, а не скипает всё подряд.
    P.S. Пройдено на PS4, баги были замечены, ни одного особо критичного для прохождения выявлено не было.    … Expand

    Last Light оказалась типичным сиквелом с улучшенной графикой, улучшенной стрельбой, с самостоятельным сюжетом продолжающим оригинал, но не имеющим с книгами ничего общего.
    И вот Metro Exodus, как было сказано по книге Метро 2035.
    Скажу сразу игра в целом не плохая. Она красивая, имеет неплохой сюжет, несколько разных концовок зависящих от способа прохождения. Прокачку оружия улучшили. Теперь можно собирать оружие буквально изо всякого говна валяющегося под ногами. Игра стала более обширной, что ли. Ну вот пожалуй всё безусловно хорошее, для меня в этой игре.
    Теперь о не очень хорошем.
    Мне ужасно не понравилось как герой перемещается по миру. Он запинается о каждую кочку или камушек, при этом звук шагов просто ужасен.
    Стрельбу толком не доработали, она осталась на уровне предыдущей игры. Повторю стрельба не плохая, но хотелось бы получше. Иногда оружие само стреляет.
    Стелс в игре так же остался на прежнем уровне, так себе. Хотя в Exodus его стало в разы больше.
    Исчезает звук.
    И ещё, лицевая анимация! Картонные морды, рубленые движения.
    Модернизация оружия, как я уже сказал, более глобальная, но это на первый взгляд. Через 3 часа я уже собрал идеальное для меня оружие и почти не менял его до конца.
    Ещё мне не понравилось то, может это я не понял, что игру надо проходить определённым способом чтобы получить хорошую концовку. Об этом узнал уже после прохождения, поглядев достижения в меню консоли.
    Но самое главное игра потеряла, как мне кажется, ту атмосферу подземелий метро которая была в первых двух играх. Да в книге она тоже пострадала, но всё же.
    Собираюсь попробовать игру ещё раз через годик, полтора. Может патчами поправят ходьбу, звуки, стрельбу, но к сожалению атмосфере это не поможет.
    И так, мы имеем очень неплохую игру во вселенной Метро. Которую визуально теперь можно спутать с какой нибудь Modern Warfare. Хорошо это или плохо... Честно говоря, сказать трудно. Ясно одно, игра почти утратила свою идентичность и становится всё больше "одной из". А вот это не правильно.
    Вышли десятки патчей. И... И ничего не изменилось. Ходить не удобно, звук шагов как от протезов, сам звук пропадает. Да, загрузки стали по 15 минут, это серьёзно!
    Последнее DLC, "Sam's Story", это вообще смачный засос с язычком авторов в булки своих господ за океаном. Сюжет у которого: "Русские это тупое быдло", "Америкосы спасут мир". Стыдно украина!    … Expand

    İt has some glitches and crashs but its a must play if you like to get lost in a greate story, be worned thou its not for you if you're the type who buys the same call of duty or assassin's creed every year, this game is intentionaly clunky, and you need to get in to the atmospher

    Slow, boring , buggy. Insanly long load times. Half your time is spent getting stuck.on pebbles and the other half trying to figure out wtf your meant to do to progress. Honestly it been a bad generation for FPS and this was one ofvthe worst. The only good things I can say is they tried some new idead, but failed at all of them.

Проблемные анимации моделек, мимика персонажей вообще ужасно, все слова попадают не в такт. Стелс ужасный, ты ходишь перед врагами и им плевать они тебя не видят и это ещё и на максимальном уровне сложности. Но так как игру делали соотечественники, я им прощу и это. Бюджет был не колоссально огромным, но даже так они сделали достойную игру, атмосфера ничуть не уступает прошлым частям. Ты играешь в эту игру, ты ощущаешь себя в этой игре. Постапокалипсис, мировая война, радиация, суровая жизнь метро, рейх, красные, спарта. В общем с нетерпением жду следующую часть.… Expand

    Made a metacritic account just to say how disappointed I am with this game. Bought on the PS Store so can't even trade it in, just deleted it after forcing myself to play half the game. It's dreadful, story is boring and long winded to the point you forget what you're actually doing the mission for! Controls are awful and game is clunky.     Игра топ для тех, кому зашли книги и прошлые игры серии. Смешно читать про то, что в Exodus неинтересно играть, при этом чудаки рассказывают, что играли от силы пару часов. Сейчас бы не пройти игру и ставить говно оценку. Надо Метро облизать с ног до головы, чтобы понять, разработчику было не похер, в отличии от "трипл эй" говна, которое штампуется всеми западными разработчиками каждыйИгра топ для тех, кому зашли книги и прошлые игры серии.     I wish I could give this a 10 but there are a few technical shortcomings. Nonetheless this game is in my top 3 best survival games of all time. This one really hits the spot. 9.2/10

    Metro exodus review

    Let me start with the good: Game has amazing aesthetics and realism. As someone who knows soviet era very well (I am from post-USSR country), game captures world design is very very realistic way, with nice extra details and interactions with NPCs too.     Let me start with the good:
    Game has amazing aesthetics and realism. As someone who knows soviet era very well (I am from post-USSR country), game captures world design is very very realistic way, with nice extra details and interactions with NPCs too.
    Overall: well made design.
    You can get a lot of story from just listening to npcs and in general, there is no much downtime as story picks fast and does not give you time to explore as everything feels urgent.
    From technical side: dynamic coms dialogue system is amazing, more games should have this.
    From maps side: By far the best open world map has been Taiga, very atmospheric especially at night.
    Weapons: there is good variety of guns and makes play-style not boring, but I wish there were some non-lethal guns too.
    Ending: there are 2 and I got the bad one. It is apparently NOT easy to get good ending. But I kinda feel like bad ending makes sense.

    Now the bad:
    Movement: I don't like the clunky "moon gravity-like" jumps and movement.
    30fps on PS5 is NOT acceptable.
    In general I found no reason to have sort of quasi-open world as the game did. Linear game is perfect for this type of storytelling.
    Glitches/bugs: overall very few but checking map in a drivable car in Caspian glitches the camera.

    Maps: by far the "worst" map was Caspian. it is not pure bad but by comparison to other bioms/maps, I think this is the weakest.
    Gunplay is overall good but there is pretty much no way to play this game in pure stealth. At least it was not obvious to me how.

    Strangely there was almost no mission where the tracks were obscured by other trains and we had to remove it , something like that. I feel like game is giving a bit too much "deus ex machina".

    And finally: compared to other metro games, there is almost no supernatural until the ending and just a little bit, maybe some see this as positive.

    VERDICT: Good game, but weaker than 2033 and Last light for sure.    … Expand

    Terrible controls, terrible npc animation, terrible gun feeling. I didn’t even complete the story because game is a **** piece of trash. The only good moment is ruined Moscow, and first person cut scenes.

    It's definitely an improvement on previous Metro games, since they've made it more open-world and increased the variety of environments you traverse through. There's a lite crafting system that allows you make most anything you need using 2 basic resources you scavenge, and picking through abandoned ruins for supplies reminded me a lot of the Fallout games, which is great.

    Story is ok. It's a bit melodramatic and wordy. Characters yap on endlessly. I feel like there are some Russian tropes I'm just not understanding, like the overprotective dad who's constantly giving yoyu crap.

    The main problem with Exodus is that it's so buggy. I can't recall the last time I've played a game that could have benefitted from more QA. I had enemies become invincible and couldn't be killed. Takedown icons often don't show up for some reason, which is a real issue when you're trying to go for stealth. Got stuck in a wall once doing a stealth takedown as the enemy turned around.

    Absolutely terrible driving mechanics. Not just slow, unresponsive, and clunky, but the car point of view often blocks your vision, and sometimes even bugs out so you can barely see anything. I understand that they were going for realism, but geez. This is the worst driving engine I've seen since the PS2 era. I honestly can't remember a worse driving experience in a game than this. This game is not well optimized and has long load times.

    Ultimately there is a lot of good, and a lot of bad. The worm level(you'll know it when you see it) is great enough to push this game towards the good spectrum though.    … Expand

    Based on the Dmitry Glukhovsky Meto series that I highly recommend metro fans look up, the game is the hidden gem of 2020, with all the woke trash consuming all genres of media. Well done, some great stuff coming out from Ukrainian studios. Can't wait to see Stalker 2. Do yourself a favor & pick up the metro book series!

Now that I've seen it through to the end, I can confidently say that although it struggles in some areas, Metro Exodus is pretty damn good. and it exceeded the expectations I had for it.

    I was hoping that Exodus would eschew some of the rigidity in the    Metro Exodus was a game that pleasantly surprised me. I enjoyed Last Light on PS3 and was wanting to play Exodus for quite some time. Now that I've seen it through to the end, I can confidently say that although it struggles in some areas, Metro Exodus is pretty damn good. and it exceeded the expectations I had for it.

    I was hoping that Exodus would eschew some of the rigidity in the controls from 2033 and Last Light, but it's still handles like its predecessors. There's an overall clunky stiffness to aiming and movement that is definitely off-putting at first and I searched the options menu for aim sensitivity options several times and couldn't find them, so I played the entire game on default sensitivity. Thankfully, my experience in Last Light allowed me to adapt quickly, but I can understand why newcomers would be put off.

    Once you adjust to the controls, Exodus really draws you in. The Metro series has always provided a level of atmosphere and detail that most other shooters can't compete with, and it's no different here. Artyom and his entourage's harrowing journey to find their "promised land" is full of tender moments and brutal gut-punches in equal measure. I cared about what happened to my companions and was invested in their plight.

    The Metro series likes players to take their time, and Exodus continues this tradition. To rush through the game is to deprive yourself of its charm. Whether you're listening to a casual conversation between a group of people, reading a journal, or having a tender moment alone with your wife, Exodus uses these small touches to flesh out its world and characters. Sometimes dialogue can drag on for what seems like ages, but I'd rather have the extra exposition than have the game suffer from a lack of it.

    Gameplay is mostly a mix of exploration, scavenging, stealth, and combat. The world of Metro, now more open than ever, is rife with radiation, mutants, bandits, and different factions of survivors who may help or hinder you depending on how you treat them. Stealth is a key component, as it's far easier and more efficient to either avoid or silently dispatch foes than it is to loudly turn every potential threat into Swiss cheese. Light is an important stealth mechanic and you'll often finding yourself slowly extinguishing an enemy encampment of their visibility while quietly neutralizing them one by one. Exodus also has a full day-and-night cycle that can help or hinder you, as stealth is easier in the dark, but mutants are more plentiful.

    Combat is an option, whether you prefer it or need to fall back on it, and there's plenty of weapons at your disposal that can be customized to your liking. Shooting can feel stiff, but it gets the job done. Even on normal difficulty, health is extremely limited and can only be restored by either using craftable medkits or sleeping, so it's important to not get careless or hasty.

    Exodus has further systems that impact gameplay. You have a flashlight, but its battery must be periodically recharged via a portable power device. which takes a few seconds. Your gas mask is essential to entering areas saturated with radiation, but you only have so much air and need to replace filters every minute. Taking damage with your mask on also risks cracking it and necessitating repairs. Speaking of which, weapons will slowly become dirty over time and need to be cleaned at a workbench. Workbenches also allow you to customize your weapons and craft more ammo and equipment. Cleaning and crafting requires components that can be scavenged out in the field. All of this can seem overwhelming and cumbersome at first, but overall, I feel that the survival elements end up enhancing the experience rather than detracting from it and they help the game (and series) carve out a unique identity compared to other FPS games.

    Complains are few, but important. Metro Exodus commits a cardinal FPS sin: At several points, you're forced into close encounters with heavily armored bullet sponge enemies and it immediately derails the entire flow of the game. Every mechanic and tactic that propels Exodus forward is thrown out the window and you're forced to sit behind cover and cheese the enemy until they die, using up most of your ammo in the process. It completely sucks you out of the immersion and proves to be an exercise in frustration. What possessed the developers to betray their design philosophy in favor of cheap difficulty spikes is beyond me, but it's bad.

    I also had several instances where the silent takedown prompt didn't appear when close behind an enemy and I was spotted. Several times I was spotted by one person and he barely made a sound before I killed him, yet the entire area was put on alert. These occurrences are seldom, but they sour the experience. And while Exodus is beautiful, graphical glitches can leave you scratching your head.

    Problems aside, Metro Exodus is a worthy addition to the series and a game I really enjoyed.    … Expand

    This game has it all for me. So many well spent hours of playing. Every fan of the first two installments will find this one to be truly EPIC!

    I can say this is very good game.Very interesting story with very good narrative,live-person characters,good gameplay with survival elements like in TLOU series or in Resident Evil.But soundtrack is bad,and last level caused frustration.But there was two very good DLCs so ill give this game a 8/10.

    I really wanted to like this game. The story is good and the graphics even on my base PS4 are fantastic, but during the Taiga mission, I just gave up. It's not an open game contrary to what they make you think. You are constantly wasting ammo on stupid critters that serve not purpose and so by the time you have a boss fight, you have no ammo or health that you can craft so you are inI really wanted to like this game.     This is one of those games that I knew wasn't for me, but decided to give it a try since it's based on a book, and those sorts of games usually at least have good stories (meaning intelligent and well thought-out).

    Unfortunately, this one doesn't. It seems as though all it got from the book was the basic setting.     Unfortunately, this one doesn't. It seems as though all it got from the book was the basic setting. As the protagonist, you then go off on your own doing absolutely stupid things because you're the protagonist in an action game and are invincible.

    You quickly learn the truth of the world and wonder why and how it was hidden from you. You then basically take point at getting everything important done by yourself, because you're an action game protagonist. It's like everyone else in your company is useless.

    After about my 5th trip of going out into the world alone to get something absolutely necessary for my company to succeed, which involves fighting mindless monsters or random humans who attacked me on sight for no reason, I got tired of it and put it down.

    At least the game is pretty. It's got a photo mode and will make sure you don't forget it.    … Expand

    Having moved the action away from the dark tunnels of Moscow's underground onto a train, going into the unknown and forced to make stops throughout the journey, Metro Exodus' authors created a memorable interactive adventure consisting of happiness from discovering love and grief from irreplacebale loss, hope of better future and despair from understanding the truth. On top of that one might call Exodus a distorting mirror that reveals the most horrible sins of mysterious Russian soul: heresy and servilism.

    Overall, Metro Exodus is an enjoyable shooter. Taking Metro out of the Metro is a good move for the series, but the game still provides plenty of claustrophobic locations for those who enjoyed the dark tunnel crawls of Metro games past. The ammunition system is still limited, but it feels better managed and more forgiving this time out, although I can still see it as being frustrating to some players. If you haven't played a Metro game before or were put off by the games in the past, give Metro Exodus a chance. You can catch this train running and enjoy the ride.
