Up there on my game regrets top 10 with things like 2008's Turok. A game that hasn't aged well isn't really helped by the slight polish to the background graphics and it could really have done with some modernisation to the UI. A lazy nostalgia money grab.

Legend of Mana sure is a charming and beautiful game with a unique mechanic. Playing all these tiny stories may have made great little adventures, but the game suffers from one fatal problem. It has aged horribly. The controls are clunky, hit detection is a mess and, as unique the core mechanic of the game may be, it's utterly confusing.
This is a game that would have needed a full remake

This is a game that would have needed a full remake like Trials of Mana. But this remaster just does too little and what is left is nothing more than an antiquated relic of a game, that needed more than just a slight polish of its visuals.

The Legend Of Mana game was ported to almost all platforms except Xbox one,I don't understand why? what kind of racism is this? why wasn't such a great game ported to Xbox one? why are all Japanese publishers so shy away from this console with their games? and most importantly, this game was ported everywhere except for Xbox one, IT's a SHAME

Loved this game when it first came out, and love it now. The backgrounds and music are perfect. I love the battle system, crafting and monster raising. The sprites are really the biggest issue and for me personally, it doesn't bother me that much, it's just slightly jarring with the beautiful background.

Legend of Mana can be categorized as an eternal game. This is because of its existence which is timeless. Even though it is now more than two decades old, its beauty still manages to captivate us, especially from the audio side.

Fans will love the remake of Legend of Mana on console and PC. The developers have invested a lot of effort and love here. The storyline is still fun nowadays, and the completely different approach to the game brings a breath of fresh air to the genre. Classic JRPG fun with a unique world-construction feature; suffers from imprecise controls and an absent main plot.

The remaster of Legend of Mana turned out to be too conservative. It improves the backgrounds (they’re beautiful!), the save system and the music, but the game’s biggest problems (poor combat system and botched storytelling) remained and will bother you more than they did decades ago. This new version might be enough for the fans of the original Legend of Mana, but I doubt it will appeal to anyone else. [09/2021, p.53]

A collection of small quests, no story is given the attention it deserves, the one glaring fault of a beautiful game with a clear desire to innovate. [Issue#4, p.80]
