    Layers of Fear 2
    Disappointing
    It breaks my heart to put out this review as I love bloobr team, The first layers of fear game is easily in my top 5 horror games of all times, the atmosphere, the story telling, the mystery, the constant shifting environments… It’s so underrated… And here we are with the squeal, and it’s on the flipside.. So overrated Layers of Fear 2 is a little over    Layers of Fear 2

    It’s so underrated…
    And here we are with the squeal, and it’s on the flipside..
    So overrated
    Layers of Fear 2 is a little over 4 hour long psychological horror game...
    I would consider this a more walking simulator type much like the first game.. however way more linear…
    Instead of an abandoned house, layers of fear takes place on an abandoned ship
    which obviously means less chances to be innovative and keep the experience fresh, however there is the added element of the story that focuses around actors, storytelling, plays…
    There’s the opportunity to bring set pieces to life, and this opportunity just isn’t taken advantage of…
    My biggest issue with Layers of Fear 2 is the setting.. the environment…
    It feels the same from start to finish, there are still the shifting rooms of the first game, but these rooms just shift into basically the same room you just left, but this is far from my only problem… the story was so hard for me to follow… im either really dumb which is possible, or this story is completely pointless background noise of a mediocre haunted house experience..
    Youre not even sure who youre playing as until the end of the game.. btw there are multiple endings much like the first layers of fear, but unlike the first I couldn’t bother actually playing again to get them all…
    one critique I had with the original that was fixed here is if an item or drawer is interact able, theres usually something in it… it isn’t a drawer opening simulator like the first could feel at times
    But that’s the only saving grace
    Layers of Fear 2 just isn’t enjoyable…
    It’s not scary its not spooky, it’s just a bunch of water damage and manikins
    manikins work for like 1 cheap scare per horror game… you can’t do a whole game relying on their creepiness…
    I’ve went to like 1000 clothing stores with my girlfriend, I’ve become numb to them
    There’s not much else to say about this game
    story is unintriguing
    There’s load screens and annoying loading in between opening doors that breaks immersion and flow
    chase sequences are just annoying get lucky in a maze or die over and over
    puzzles are basically nonexistent
    the manikins are just lame
    and Environment is boring and repetitive
    If you’ve played 30 minutes, you’ve played all 4 hours
    This is the very definition of just an okay game
    I give Layers of Fear 2

    Layers of Fear 2 is more of an atmospheric mystery game than a horror game but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable to me. Rather, it was more enjoyable to me in this way. The atmosphere and artistic flairs were top notch and made this game feel very unique and distinct. The only major issue I felt the game had was to experience and understand everything, you had to play through theLayers of Fear 2 is more of an atmospheric mystery game than a horror game but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable to me. Rather, it was more enjoyable to me in this way. The atmosphere and artistic flairs were top notch and made this game feel very unique and distinct. The only major issue I felt the game had was to experience and understand everything, you had to play through the game multiple times which could get repetitive. The plot is told through cryptic clues which you need to piece together yourself. It's a game I didn't fully understand but lingers in my head still afterwards trying to make sense of it all. I hope this game series continues as the production values are top notch and it's a solid psychological horror series.… Expand

    I've played this game 2 times and I am now on my 3rd playthrough, and FOR ME Layers of Fear 2 is a masterpiece just like the first one was.

    Layers of Fear is a very personal experience, so the best advice I can give is that you don't take in account the opinion of others. It is a game that you need to experience for yourself. Also, this is not a game for everyone. To fully enjoy you    I've played this game 2 times and I am now on my 3rd playthrough, and FOR ME Layers of Fear 2 is a masterpiece just like the first one was.

    Also, this is not a game for everyone. To fully enjoy you need to have in mind that this is a game very different than any other game out there.
    To enjoy it you need to have patience, to pay attention to every detail, to take your time, and to play it more than once.

    Just as the name says, the experience is made by more than one layer, and the more times you play it more you discover and it makes more sense.

    The first time I finished this game I felt a bit disappointed. That's because this time Bloober was more ambitious and experimented a major variety of ambiences and a even more abstract aproach to the storytelling. But then I just took some time to think about the game and writed down some ideas about what I saw in it. I created some theories. And this was the part when the fun began.

    I felt like the game was finally taking form in my mind.
    Then I started to play a second time and every detail was making way more sense this time. That was the point when I felt that this really was something that came out from Bloober Team's minds.

    Now I am loving the game just as I loved the first one.

    I already started my 3rd playthrough as I said before, and I am really enjoying the game a lot more than when I played it for the first time.

    So my advice is:

    - This is not a game for everyone.
    - This is not totally equal to the first one, so take your time to put the pieces of the story together and play more than once.
    - Don't be so hard on trying to figure out everything on the story. There's no right or wrong version. That's the beauty of it. The truth is what you believe it is and what makes more sense to YOU.

    Loved how the first game was short and sweet. This one is far too long and yet doesn’t add much to the story. Felt like the game was very disjointed and the chase moments of the game become hideously annoying rather than scary. Found myself bored and couldn’t wait to finish the game in hopes I would figure out the meaning of it all. To my disappointment I’m still not sure what the meaningLoved how the first game was short and sweet. This one is far too long and yet doesn’t add much to the story.     Absolutamente essencial para quem gosta de jogos de terror. Superior ao primeiro em muitos aspectos, gráficos, história, terror e desta vez com um inimigo de quem temos de fugir em certas ocasiões. Não se deixem enganar por reviews menos favoráveis ou vão passar ao lado de uma masterpiece

    The good: this game is beautiful to look at, and for a decent portion of the game it uses this to great advantage in creating a sense of dread. The music is right on point. The aesthetic of the game is without fault. Although I didn't particularly care for the black & white sequences, they were worth it for the way colors seemed BRILLIANT in contrast when they were over. Although I didn't particularly care for the black & white sequences, they were worth it for the way colors seemed BRILLIANT in contrast when they were over. I'm particularly partial to the sequences towards the end in the marble hallways.

    The bad: Overall, this felt like a game with good intentions that turned in to an often-annoying slog with a story that felt fractured and a little self-absorbed. I am a *huge* horror fan, but my one turn-off is when something seems to be taking itself a little too seriously and Layers of Fear 2 suffers from this flaw. Some of the dialogue made me laugh rather than become more interested in the story. And while I've got no problem with endings that don't give me all the answers, LoF2 just didn't pay off in a way that satisfied - answers, or no. It was vague for the intent of seeming highbrow, and it left a bad taste in my mouth.

    Besides the storytelling, I also found the Formless Man extremely frustrating. At times it felt like I was being punished for exploring the game environment, with the Man showing up out of nowhere and killing me before I even had a chance to turn and run, or teleporting suddenly down a hallway as I scrambled to get the game to register I was attempting to close a door.

    I think this studio is capable of BRILLIANT things with this franchise, and whatever other types of horror it explores. They have all the puzzle pieces, and despite the fact that I did not enjoy this game as much as the first, I am still looking forward to more.    … Expand

    The game is good. There was a few scars here and there. But besides the game does a good job telling the story as your character progress through the game.

    Wasn’t a big fan of the first so my expectations for its sequel weren’t very high but I expected it to be more or less the same, however the game is somehow worse than the first in every way, the jumpscares are worse, the story is nowhere near as interesting and the game overall is incredibly boring, it was a struggle to get through as it bored me so much.     Gorgeous graphics do nothing to help this muddled pretentious mess. Horrid pacing issues, clunky nonsense game design, frustrating mechanics, and a god awful artsy-fartsy try-hard story. I really loved the first game but the sequel was painful to get through. 3 hours too long.     Bloober Team once again gets the most primal and instinctive fear in the body, creating a second chapter in which his way of telling a story of terror and delirium through exploration and setting will delight fans of the saga.

    Even though both Layers of Fear's stories are not linked, this sequel follows up the style of the original game. All the horror comes from the peculiar stagings and visuals used by Bloober Team that cause a constant sensation of anguish. Also, the different "homages" to several movie classics are a great classy touch.

    Once the novelty of a new game fades, what we’re left with is a failure of a title that simply loses itself after the first hour or so. And you end up going in bizarre circles without any sense of satisfaction.
