Worse: there is no host migration, you go to main menu if the host disconnects for any reason. I prefer the local co-op where you can discipline your co-op partner(s). I rate it a 9 for local co-op, 7 for online play, 7 for single play. Expand

Crystal Dynamics found a nice formula to keep the Tomb Raider franchise alive between some big scales AAA games, but are those games good ?

Technically the games look alright for its price, but there's some frame rate issues and an annoying online bug (when you leave a zone with your partner(s), after a long loading time you're back at the zone you were leaving and you have to get out again....). Things that shouldn't happen for a game of that scale and with such support (Square Enix, Crystal Dynamics).

The gameplay is quite simple, very similar to a dual stick shooter (but it's not, you'll use plenty of others buttons) and fits right in the Tomb Raider franchise (platforming, puzzles, action) it's easy to play, maybe too easy even, death is absolutely not punitive, the game is clearly made to be played in co-op and to chill out, maybe add some scoring competition, in solo the game can be boring.

Concerning the story, it's classic Tomb Raider, nothing extraordinary, but it gets the job done to give you z true goal in the game. The game is 5 hours long approximately which is okay for its price.

In conclusion Lara Croft and The Temple of Osiris is a decent little game, specially in co-op but doesn't shine in anything , I'd advise it for gamers looking for a game to play with friends/ family, nobody should hate it.

Truth be told, I didn't expect much from this game. I'm a huge Tomb Raider fan, but I don't like twin stick shooters, so if this wasn't a free game on PS+, I'd never buy it. Temple of Osiris was a very pleasant surprise, though.

The game's story is basic and feels like a copy of Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation. The evil Egyptian god Set want's to destroy the world and it's up to Lara

The game's story is basic and feels like a copy of Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation. The evil Egyptian god Set want's to destroy the world and it's up to Lara (and her three companions) to stop him. The story doesn't matter, though. It's all about gameplay.

Unlike the main Tomb Raider series, the Lara Croft spin-offs are viewed from a top-down perspective. Other than that, it's your standard TR. Lara can run, jump, climb, shoot her signature dual pistols and many other weapons, drop grenades, and climb walls using her grappling hook. The perspective takes some getting used to, but you get the hang of it fast. You can play with up to three other players in co-op mode, although it's fun to play alone as well.

Music and sound are great, as you'd expect from a Tomb Raider game. Lara is once again voiced by the one and only Keeley Hawes, who's been my favorite Lara voice actress since Tomb Raider Legend. Her Lara is smart, kind, and funny, yet also mature and serious. A far cry from the angsty teen we got in the Tomb Raider reboot.

It's very sad that this little spin-off game is more worthy of the Tomb Raider name than the reboot ever was. This is the essence of Tomb Raider and what it should be like. Exotic locations, lots of tombs filled with puzzles, a few enemies here and there, an occasional boss fight. Throw is a bunch of collectibles and secrets, and you have a proper TR game.

Temple of Osiris is short but sweet. It's quite cheap as well. If you're into this type of game, or if you're just a Lara Croft fan, pick it up to support the franchise. You'll enjoy it.

With the current price, Lara Croft the Temple of Osiris deserves a solid 8 scores out of 10. I and my friend just finished the game in about 7-8 hours. We had great time together. If you play alone I would not suggest you to buy because even though you can find other people to play online but many times while solving puzzle you will want to communicate with them. Another major problem is that the game has many bugs when playing online but it is not unplayable, it just slow down ur process. (Mostly reloading checkpoint will solve the problem)

In Sum, I would recommend everyone who has a coop partner to play this game (best for local coop). If you are alone, it is not much fun but you can try find partner online. I hope there will be game like this more in the future.

FREE NOW ON PS+ (Aug 15)

Having just finished Lara's origin tale Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition on PS4 and enjoying it as one would a Popcorn Blockbuster, I was very much open to giving Temple of Osiris a blast. I imagine the fact that it was free also swayed me a little.

I haven't played the original Guardian of Light so cannot comment on improvements, but I can say this outing was a temple full of fun.

Starting off alone, to get to grips with the straightforward controls and play-style, I found great isometric 3-D level design and fun enemies to deal with. Nothing too taxing or too serious, it's quite simply the fruit dessert to the main games main meal. Not being too long, you can play casually to the end with just enough new weapons and level changes to keep things interesting.

You can amp up the fun however by playing how the game was designed to be played, with up to 3 others. Playing locally is definitely the way to go, so get your mates to bring their pads over. Playing online with friends works just as well but without that living room spirit, what most will do I imagine is play online with randoms, which can cause issues. Be prepared for the game to reload, quickly to be fair, at each drop in and drop out, and for the standard frustrations in online voice communications. You will probably hit a wall with some of the more complex puzzles with your teammates ending up just jumping about shooting pots when unable to figure things out.

But when it does all come together and you unravel a group puzzle or take down a tough boss as a team, there is an immense sense of satisfaction to look forward to and therein is the essence of the game, tucked away nicely behind its Tomb Raider jacket.

A 7.5 from me but be aware I am probably biased as am a sucker for a well spoken brunette.

New Lara Croft arcade/puzzle game really shines in local co-op when you play with casual player. Like my girlfriend. She enjoyed rayman legends. LBP3 was pretty good in local co-op. She didn't enjoyed Guacamelee - too many combos, too complicated, too many options to go.
She loves new Lara Croft. We play together, solve puzzles and have a nice time.

ps. this game may be also cool 4 people local co-op with mates when you are drinking :)

With beautiful graphics and (sometimes weirdly) varied environments, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris manages to add something fresh to the long line of videogames that Lara has starred in, whilst also staying true to the character. It's a fun and fast paced adventure that is sadly over too soon, even with the optional dungeons, but can be extended with some cheap DLC - for better or worse.

It's a fun little game, not a must have. Responsive controls make it fun to run around causing havoc, and the game has a lot of multiplayer fun to be had with your friends online or offline, but the game isn't GREAT. It will bore you and make you feel like you want to play a real Tomb Raider game, instead.

Enemies and puzzles are easy enough and defeating most of the bosses requires you to figure out the right approach, either by finding weak spots or by playing with the available elements to your favor.

As usual wIth the Croft games, you're encouraged to explore and collect all sorts of collectibles.

The game plays well. It's mechanics and puzzles are well designed and do require some teamwork between you and your friends. This makes the experience uber frustrating though when playing with randoms on-line. If I had more friends with more free time to waste on this game, maybe it would be good 8 - whilst it sounds harsh to rate the title down because of my short-comings, it's not, it's the community. Find me 3 players willing to have a good long session and this game could be good fun, but instead I've been kicked out via the host leaving and having to rematch up a number of times. That and what's with all the French kids? I've nothing against the French, but they do ruin all multi-player games

I only played this game one-player. I have not played it co-op. Based on having played it one-player, I can't imagine my impression would drastically change based on playing with another person, though. This game is a jack of many trades, and certainly a master of none of them. Not enough enemies for it to be a great arcade game. Not good enough puzzles to be a great puzzle game. not enough action/adventure to be a great action/adventure game. The story really isn't of any consequence other than to unlock new areas. No character is interesting. The extra challenges are mostly time trials and collecting jewels (points), but again, not in an interesting way. The weapon system seems cool at first, but there isn't that big of a difference in most of them. Nothing drives you to upgrade and collect everything since the game is too easy long before you can. It wasn't horrible, but it isn't even close to what it should be. Nobody played this game and thought to themselves "this is exactly what a Tomb Raider game should be. This is exactly what I wanted."
