If you’re fan of Hotline Miami, and are looking for something that puts a few twists on its gameplay, even if it doesn’t quite succeed, you may find LA Cops to be worth checking out on sale. But, if you are looking for a game that is polished, with a narrative to tie it together, than you should probably leave this one behind bars.

LA Cops has inoffensive intentions, but its execution is as flawed as its characters' fashion sense. The pleasant presentation represents the still-edible icing on this otherwise stale, circular snack – but glaring design issues have left us close to dialling 911.

LA Cops is a frustrating and unsatisfying game that is not worth a purchase for any person. On the one hand, the game is tedious and unforgiving and on the other hand if you take advantage of the dumb enemy AI, it is simple and easy. There is no middle ground where the game is somewhat challenging and enjoyable in any manner.

You pulled out some game from a dusty bin at Walmart for $5 took it home and despite being bad played the heck out of it? LA Cops is a digital bargain game. Like all bargain bin games it is a blatant rip off of a much better game, in this case Hotline Miami. Like Hotline Miami it is a top down shooter where you progress through rooms and either sneak or shoot enemies into a bloody display of carnage.

Hotline Miami has a unique artistic style. LA Cops has some cheap graphics that look like they used free 3D models they found on the Internet.

Hotline Miami has precise controls to master. LA Cops has game breaking mechanics of alternating the lock on button and fire button to clear out a room.

Hotline Miami has memorable mesmerizing music. LA Cops has repetitive music that sounds like it was rejected from a porno. You will turn off the music after 15 minutes.

Hotline Miami has AI that you must outsmart. LA Cops enemies would make much more sense if they were really dumb sheep.

Hotline Miami has varied environments to navigate through. LA Cops has a small amount of identical looking levels.

Hotline Miami had masks to collect to change the gameplay style. LA Cops has stat bars to increase for hardly any change to the game.

Hotline Miami has a fascinating story. LA Cops has cops like doughnuts jokes.

I would be lying if I said I didn’t have fun while playing the game. It hits all the same notes as a terrible B movie at 2:00AM after drinking. If you like games that are so bad they are good, this might be the game for you.

Great short game, can be really difficult if you amp up the difficulty. The game is similar to the miami games, but music isnt as epic. Dont think you're getting a full cop game that is going to keep you busy for hours, think fun arcade cop shooter. I truly enjoyed this game,Dont think you're getting a full cop game that is going to keep you busy for hours, think fun arcade cop shooter. I truly enjoyed this game, fun and quick to play, keeps you going at first and can get quite addictive. When the difficulty steps up it does get quite frustrating and after spending forever in certain stages the need to just give up does kick in. Full Review »
