King's Quest was a pretty famous license back in the 80's and a good representation of the classic adventure genre. Is this come back welcome ?

Technically the game doesn't have a high budget so don't expect very detailed graphics but the art direction is very well done with a nice cel-shading . The game is globally nice to look at (and among the best in the genre). I don't recall any

Technically the game doesn't have a high budget so don't expect very detailed graphics but the art direction is very well done with a nice cel-shading . The game is globally nice to look at (and among the best in the genre). I don't recall any technical hick-ups (glitch, framerate etc.), but honestly it's been so long since the first chapter I might have forget some. What is sure is that it didn't affect the experience at all.

The gameplay is very good taking the best from both old-school adventure with lots of puzzle that you must solve thanks to items and logic which provide an intellectual challenge and the shaping of your own story (like in Telltale games) that improve the commitment of the player to the story. If those choices won't change the main events of the story but it does change your relationships. The puzzles aren't too complicated or too easy. But episode 2 and 4 rely too much on one idea where episode 1, 3 and 5 are more diverse and really very fun to play.

The Story will tell the whole life of King Graham always with a nice dose of humour and some very good voice overs (if you like puns Graham is your king). It's a moving tale about a man's life and the different step we'll all encounter.
Each episode will last between 2 and 3 hours (so around 12 hours to finish the game) it's very good for the genre and offers a nice value for the price.

In conclusion King's Quest is a great comeback, pushing the license to modern standards without forgetting its origin. It's nice to look at, offers a very engaging story and a lot of fun, too bad two episodes lack diversity, it could have been a must have.

A lot of games have focused too much on story and too little on gameplay in recent years, and it gets to the point where you're often furiously mashing buttons in an attempt to skip cutscenes and get to the game already. King's Quest is mostly story and dialogue, but it pulls it off so fantastically that I loved every second of it. As a child, the King's Quest games were what got me into "computer gaming". As such, they hold a tremendous nostalgic tug on me. So, when I heard that this new King's Quest was hitting the PS4, I knew I would be purchasing it. I went whole-hog and bought the entire collection, and overall I'm glad I did, as despite some hiccups along the way it was a fun trip back down memory lane.As a child, the King's Quest games were what got me into "computer gaming". I'm not going to review all the Chapters individually here, but suffice it to say that some are better than others. For example, the second-to-last Chapter (devoted to a whole bunch of ice puzzles) gets a bit tedious, while the Chapter in the dungeon with the Goblins is probably the best.

Anyway, what makes this new King's Quest a success is that the "Odd Gentleman" (production company) really understand the nostalgia involved, as there is something in each chapter that harkens back to the old games. Now, that being said, these Chapters aren't just re-treads of the classics, but rather new adventures of Graham and the Royal Family of Daventry. The game creators just do a really good job of incorporating storyline elements that players of the original games will remember.

About the only reason I can't give this collection higher marks stems from personal reasons: I just don't have as much time to devote to video games as I did in childhood. As a result, I found myself "cheating" here from time to time, as this is a game that does involve some puzzling. None of it is extremely difficult, but I guess I just don't have the patience I once did.

Overall, though, I enjoyed my experience playing the King's Quest Complete Collection, primarily for the nostalgic ability to run around once again as King Graham! It felt good to be beneath the adventurer's cap once again.

King's Quest is a very charming puzzle adventure. It has a great narrative and it knows how to make you laugh as well as get to your heart. The only downsides in my opinion was there are almost no significant consequences to the choices you make (they could at least change the grandma character depending on who you choose to marry) and also chapter 4, which is a bit repetitive andKing's Quest is a very charming puzzle adventure. Many people may simply look at King’s Quest and think it’s cashing in on an old series and taking advantage of the revival of point and clickers. It is so much more. The Odd Gentlemen is such a small team, but Creative Director Matt Corba should be given some sort of award for his work with this game. He, and his team, handled the canon of the previous games beautifully, while managing to weave an entirely new and just as endearing storyline into it. The team might not have had an IP like The Walking Dead or Game of Thrones to work with, but King’s Quest does everything right.

With some great stories that don’t overstay their welcome and an endearing cast of characters, the King’s Quest reboot series manages to overcome some rough spots to become greater than its parts.
