One of the best indie games ive ever played.
What it held back from perfection was a poor level with lava and rocks and a lackluster final boss.
The music with great environments and the anticipation of the next boss battle are gloriously done.

Largely repetitive with little to no skill expression allowed due to the boss design. Hit, wait, wait, wait, hit. A lot of standing around looking at the admittedly beautiful artwork, which you'll have to do even outside of the boss fights with a limited movement system that makes Jotun feel clunky and 20 years out of its time. The Valhalla Mode endgame adds nothing to an already short runtime, and going for 100% is more of a slog than anything else. An earnest but misplaced effort from Thunder Lotus Games. Expand

A God Of War style scrolling hack and slasher set in the world of Norse mythology with pleasingly old school hand drawn graphics. There isn't a great deal of depth to the gameplay - it tends to be mild exploration alternating with boss fights - but the premise is interesting and it keeps you playing to see what comes next. Fans of the similar Hollow Knight should enjoy it.

A nice adventure, as it was originally on its PC version. The new features on this Valhalla Edition are not worth the wait.

Jotun is a good game with an amazing art direction, a nice narrative and interesting boss battles, but it's partially ruined by the lack of rhythm during the exploration and the abuse of a boring backtracking. Keep an eye on it, and give your money to Thunder Lotus Games as soon as Jotun will go on sale.

Jotun just falls short of receiving that higher recommendation. It’s enjoyable yet clearly inconsistent, despite its great use of setting and some terrific boss fights.
