    I would have given this game a score of 5 or even a 6 generouslly if it wasn't for the fact that it now costs $12. I bought it when it was $5 and for the price alone, I thought it was passable. The presentation was okay, the characters looked good, and the gameplay does have some neat mechanics to it. However, the music is nothing to write home about, there are only 6 playable charactersI would have given this game a score of 5 or even a 6 generouslly if it wasn't for the fact that it now costs $12. However, the music is nothing to write home about, there are only 6 playable characters whose stats barely change that much, there are a few bugs here and there (especially in the 2nd track), and of course, there's only two tracks in the game. The only other content the game has is a co-op mode. No leaderboards, no time trial, nothing.Honestly, if it stayed on the price of $5, I would have given the game a pass, but the fact that they increased it for no reason baffles me. The game is just not worth $12 even if you are looking for something similar to F Zero or Wipeout. It's a glorified demo at best. Also, the game was part of the Playstation Talents, so that could explain its low quality. Regardless, I would have been soft on it if it remained on a cheaper price. As is? I would only recommend the game if it gets priced at a price of less than 10 at a sale.… Expand

    Cons: But again, that is if you can overcome its many buggy and infuriating shortcomings like the hit collision, the strafe buttons not being useful, and the bugs that you might come across like sliding out of the track or magnetism not always working.     Cons: But again, that is if you can overcome its many buggy and infuriating shortcomings like the hit collision, the strafe buttons not being useful, and the bugs that you might come across like sliding out of the track or magnetism not always working. Stats customization is an interesting mechanic but the game does a poor job at explaining to you just how drastic these changes are. Not to mention two out of 6 (not 12 despite what the game marketed) has the exact same stats, so they might as well be skins. There are also only TWO tracks with barely any additional content exvept trophies to unlock (but the same can be said with other games that hev trophies). Also the menu is a bit barebones witj no options, and the magnetism only works on the 2nd track but other than that, it's pretty useless. In all honesty, I would only recommend this game if you're looking for something similar to F-Zero and when it's on a sale because thankfully, I managed to nab it for just $4 because for $12? It's definitely not worth getting for what is essentially just a paid demo. It's not terrible and I do lile the character designs (even if they can look a bit edgy and can clash a bit too much with the game's neon aesthetics), but hopefully the devs can do a better job next time because there is a good game here. Just that it lacks a lot of polish and it's just not worth pricing it beyond $10 due to how short the content is (even in co-op there's no unlockables but atleast it's a bit more fun than in singleplayer I guess).    … Expand

    It requires a bit of patience to enjoy but it isn't unplayable
    It has only 2 tracks, Titan City and Deep End. Titan City is the "easier" track by the game difficulty icons but it's way harder, it many unfair turns where you are supposed to drift but... the game doesn't have drifts so you have to slow down to be able to turn and for some reason the AI can just    Not bad but not good either

    Titan City is the "easier" track by the game difficulty icons but it's way harder, it many unfair turns where you are supposed to drift but... the game doesn't have drifts so you have to slow down to be able to turn and for some reason the AI can just turn normally and get ahead, the camera doesn't help either because you can't see anything, only a couple of meters ahead which isn't nearly enough to react for a sharp turn, Titan City wasn't made for the game's speed and if you aren't prepared you are going to crash everywhere.

    The Deep End is a way better track only at the beginning has some really sharp turns but you can see them from afar so it's easy, after that it's... a really good track, you can notice the love there, the camera is way better, it has some great jumps and some really good speed sections and the turns are way more forgivable, unfortunately it has a tunnel which is kinda unfair, you jump from a ramp and you see the tunnel and it doesn't matter if you keep accelerating or not, the game will send you through the roof and sometimes kill you and put you back on the track and sometimes just let you there stuck where you have to spam turbo to leave, and if you don't have energy left you are at the mercy of the game to release you from there, the way i get out is using the magnetism to attract the car to the floor to not let it go through the roof but besides that the track is pretty good.

    You have 6 characters, it's useless to talk about every single one because they are all the same, it shows different stats but i didn't notice any difference, it's just cosmetic.
    After choosing the character you can modify their stats and that's all the difference, by increasing some stats you decrease others, increasing max speed you sacrifice acceleration for example and that adds some strategy to it

    In conclusion, besides the glitches, it isn't bad, it's just hard to get used to the camera and the controls, only after 100%ing the game i noticed that it had a brake button, which you literally don't need, you can just slow down instead of... kind of drifting.

    I want to have faith that Ion Driver is a proof of concept for something bigger and better from Gammera Nest, but what currently exists is less of a test of racing skill and more of a test of patience for a futuristic racing enthusiast. The lack of content, inconsistent hit detection, and buggy racing experience will leave you disappointed. You will see everything Ion Driver has to offer within a few minutes of playing the game, so don’t expect an experience of progression, futuristic and high-speed racing, nor skill.

    With only two tracks and a non-exaggerated game completion time of ten minutes, suggesting Ion Driver is a barebone experience would be an understatement. This initially attractive racer does nothing to further the futuristic racing genre, or do anything to make an impact beyond the nagging feeling of disappointment which permeates throughout. The experience is plagued by bugs, poor collision detection and far too many broken promises to count. Avoid.
