    This game looks amazing at the beginning. General design is good, the world is stunning but it ends here. The gameplay gets boring really fast, I already knew I'd drop this game after a few hours, I lasted for 5 before closing it one last time.

    Overrated for sure. The story is so cliche and combat sucks because there is zero counter to enemies. Good graphics but soulless game. Texture popin is so close to the character that it is annoying. Aiming sucks on console.

    Wow. There were right! The biggest problems of this game start when the characters decide to open their mouth. And end when they stop.

    Look. I am a story guy. I even take good story over good gameplay most of the time. If the story is "just there" but the gameplay is good I don't mind. But if the story is constantly taking you out of the gameplay and the immersion... And while being    Wow. There were right! Because the gameplay loop doesn't need innovation right? Just the looks.). There is only so much "screenwriters being in need of self-adoration" that you can witness before it takes the cake. Just so dumb and not real-life alike it's like the writers don't have real friends or their social life is all smoke and mirrors or something.

    I will never understand the praise this game gets. I played through the entire game, and it was painful. Let's start off by looking at the good stuff, which are very few btw, the combat system is great. Everything feels realy satisfying when you use the bow etc, The world is also beautifully crafted, and it has stunning visuals.

The dialogue is so cringy, and I feel like an alien that has never interacted with humans before, wrote the script. The dialogue "cutscenes" are awkward as hell, the facial animations is on par with the same emotions furby toys show with their faces. For some reason, the voice actors seems to have a 3second pause between every sentence sometimes, and it was really annoying. I probably skipped 80% of the games dialogue, and I pray to Guerilla, that the sequel will be better, because there is so much potential here.    … Expand

    Mittelmäßiges Far Cry Abklatsch Spiel. Ja die Welt sieht nett aus und die Robos sind nett, aber die KI is so ratten dumm, das gibts echt nicht. Zudem ist die Story so abartig gestreckt. Und an den unmöglichsten Stellen gegen Ende tauchen auf einmal Gegner auf. Ja ne is klaaaa. Die Story fand ich aber echg gut.

    Not sure why score is so high. Only thing that keeps me playing is to know what happened that world looks like it looks. For every other piece like fighting, sneaking, climbing, open world activities - there are games that do it better.

    Horizon is easily one of my favourite game, it has wonderful graphics for a game from 2017 and the fighting mechanic, im in love with it. You have different types of bows, traps, literal flamethrowers, and many more. And the amount of side missions and side content packed into this game is just ginormous.
    For me, this is the definition of must play game for PlayStation.

    Besides being pretty, this game is a huge mess. I bought the big collector's edition and I regret it deeply. It's buggy as hell, combats absolutely blow against machine and are even worst against humans, story is a snooze fest and puzzles level designs are some of the worst I ever seen. Do not buy this game.

    gam was fine, thats all - story and dialogues were boring. good that the game was in PS+. wanted to play that game to know the story before forbiden west. hope the 2nd part will be much better. imo the 10 rates came only from ponys but the game is still bad.

    Visual character design ranges from okay to laughably bad - there is strong dissonance between the extremely realistic people and the stupid outfits they wear - its probably worth noting that when characters are this realistic, they need equally realistic costumes otherwise it looks very silly - dorky game concept design does not translate with this fidelity of realism.

    Combat is a boring war of attrition at any level above easy, and offers little intrinsic or extrinsic reward. Human enemies are incredibly hard to see when in combat at a distance. Melee combat against dinos larger than yourself is basically pointless and a mess - this ain't no dark souls bruv.

    Technically its incredible - if you want to ogle incredible graphics then this is the game (except for the cutscene lighting which was a poor stylistic choice). The world and atmospherics are incredible and its a shame that the game inside it is so poor.

    Rapid movement of the map is very inconvenient

    The ride will disappear, you have to keep repeating to find another new one

    Une belle prouesse technique mais le jeu dans sa globalité ne fait avancer le jeu vidéo dans aucun domaine, et même l'écriture et la narration qui ont apparemment occupé le plus gros temps des développeurs restent rn dessous de se qui se fait le mieux. Je n'ai pas réussi à aller au bout de l'aventure tellement je me suis ennuyé.

    Terrible open world game, the meele combat is also horrible, although the bow/range combat is pretty good. The machines are cool too. But in general the game is massively boring, and i had a terrible bug that i had to reload my save and lost hours of game...

    The most overrated game i've ever played. Game let you in with an interesting intro and then uses all the dated video game tropes. Full of chore and bad npc conversations. It's like Ubisoft game. AC mixed with FC Primal but worse. It might have been okay in 2000's or early 2010's. HZD is late to the party.

    For the life of my I can’t understand the good reviews! This open world feels so empty and unoriginal. It’s extremely repetitive (the missions) and feels like a bad version of far cry primal. And sure if it’s you’re first time playing these types of games you’ll probably enjoy it. But if you’re an experienced gamer who has played plenty of sandbox games this game offers absolutely nothingFor the life of my I can’t understand the good reviews! This open world feels so empty and unoriginal. It’s extremely repetitive (the missions) and feels like a bad version of far cry primal. And sure if it’s you’re first time playing these types of games you’ll probably enjoy it. But if you’re an experienced gamer who has played plenty of sandbox games this game offers absolutely nothing new. I hesitated to even try it, but when it came out for free I gave it a go, and even now when it’s a free game. Sure give it a go, it couldn’t hurt right?     This title is built upon the absolute blueprint of how successful Triple A games come out to be. They MUST be Open World and have good graphics, check and check; if the previous conditions are fulfilled the story will be treated as a good one regardless of the plot and characters.     Games like these are the ones that once made me wonder: why the f*ck is this Open World? It is in past tense because I eventually found out the answer: they fool people easily and sell a lot. This has got to be the emptiest open world game I’ve ever seen! Despite some villages in between there are THREE things to do: find people to prompt side quest, kill robots and looting bushes for unspectacular items. You have beautiful landscapes as the scenery yay, but it’s f*cking 2017! If you’re still impressed at staring at nature in a videogame you haven’t played any game since 2010

    The game heavily relies on the graphics/facial expressions/voice acting to stand out so whenever you find an NPC there is this stupid dialogue tree mechanic so feel free to ask useless questions to bore you to death even further since the dialogues are mostly tedious as h*ll. Also since the game is pretty vanilla for thirteen years old the writing is very cliché, chances are you’ll default to selecting the option that ends the conversation as your first choice early on. Voice acting and facial expressions means absolutely nothing if the content is lacking

    Its structure rips off Witcher… a lot! Even if you’re the Wicther’s fan number one I don’t think you liked walking up to bushes and pressing X to gather useless items. Well… Horizon “enhances” this mechanic by having a minuscule inventory for you to manage and given how the resources must be crafted with each other to give the real items (like potions, consumables and stuff) there is no way to know what to keep..

    But to grind you’ll mostly need to kill stuff and surprise surprise: Horizon’s gameplay is f*cking awful. I know innovation is good and all but “bow and arrow against robotic animals” is a concept doomed from the start. One might wonder: how is an arrow supposed to pierce and damage a machine? I don’t know, but the game treats it as if the metal carcass is just a sturdier flesh, you don’t have to damage the inner circuits or cut some wire; attacking the carcass works somehow. Kinda works, the robots have some weak points:, if you land a shot in the precise pixel it does five times the damage, and believe me: you gotta land that shot! Because shooting arrows anywhere other than the weak point takes forever to kill

    You must be sneaky in combat, the game’s notion of stealth is as follows: the player can duck on tall grass to be completely concealed from enemies… that’s it. Horizon stealth is just that. If an enemy sees you they can “telepathically” warn the others, this can make some sense with machines but even human enemies have this unexplained power. When you are discovered you have to back off until the alert goes down; you can’t brute force your way through, making the gameplay unidimensional as f*ck. Let’s take Metal Gear 5: you can plan meticulously your route but sometimes you just want to go balls to the walls and Rambo everybody, the game offers you so many options. Horizon is f*cking bow and arrow man! So crouching on tall grass it is.

    Needless to say: the game is super boring. You’re up against machines with a much weaker sniper rifle/semi-automatic weapon; the game is not built to be a shooter as cover is scarce.
    You have a spear that works as a slow sub-weapon, but it should clearly be the other way around with melee combat as the main.

    The story isn’t good enough to engage me, the world-building is lame and the characters are awful, stereotypical and super safe ones. The matriarchal society and the female protagonist are the cherry on the top. Given how plastic and by the books the game is, I’m pretty sure the strategy of surfing on the feminist trend was the very first decision they made. It’s just there to be more marketable and please your typical “journalist” who complained about killing black guys in Resident Evil 5 (despite the fact the game was in Africa).

    Well, clearly their strategy worked. You don’t control the climbing, the arrows fly in the most ridiculous directions, every side missions is a witcher 3 copycat mission done poorly, and don’t even get me started on the repetitiveness.     Flat story, chaotic gameplay. Yes, it looks nice... but theres very little beyond that. It tries to be RPG... but its not. It may be ok for younger players, but as an adult... im looking for "adult" stories.

    It was a really nice game for the first 10 hours max. Then it became a grinding machine game, trying to loot anything around just to progress. It kinda made me get bored of it really quickly.

These defeated moments of human losing to machines just doesn't feel well-deserved and almost just maddening. Anyway, enough rant, and I would just say I bought this game in 2017 and just finished this month because I got frustrated at it many times over the years. And I am usually darn good at those type of games so it's not me. And I possibly won't buy the sequel unless there is absolutely no other game to play at the time.     All most all story is completely not interesting and very boring, all substories is just copy-past and only in the end it improves. Gameplay... nothing special and I was plaing this game just to finish it coz I paid for it.

    Got this game on the cheap and can’t for the life of me get motivated to continue playing it after about 7 hours. Am I the only one thoroughly annoyed by every aspect of this game? The main character, the utterly implausibility of the creatures, the ridiculousness of the dialog and facial expressions, the cliched characters, you name it.

It is literally just about two types of fetch: Go there and bring/kill or go there, investigate and than bring or kill. Disgusting. Story has a nice concept but the execution is dreadful. Sure... Guerrilla Games is not a CD Project but still... such a generic and bad quests are fillings of the laziness in desing of Assasins creed games. If you take worst fetch quests frfom AC games and you based whole game on them you will get Horizon Zero Dawn, And you can´t even save time wasted on these terrrible quests by climbing ar using shortcuts in terrain becouse you can climb only as high you can jump. If there is no ledge you can jump on... you are done. You have to take a long way around to fulfil this fetch, But i like Aloy. She is simple kinda generic character but she has a nice voice and nicely played character. But as bad as this game is the frozen wilds expansion id really good. Good actors, puzzles, not so generic quests and it overall gives us the hope the second game will be playable not only for PS fanboys but it could be actually a good game.… Expand

    Standard open world RPG. Nothing really innovative. If you’ve played other open world RPG’s this gen then this one will just induce fatigue. I think a lot of people said it was visually impressive, but in 2020 it’s not as attractive as other games in the genre. I can’t recommend HZD unless you’re not already burned out on open world RPG’s.

    Very Good Story. But the controls are a pain in the ass.
    Example: you Need to infiltrate a Base. Ok. First try: the enemy Spots you through solid Rock. Bit ok. You try to hide so they might loose Track. You jump down a 1m hill to hide. Get bugged into the Wall. Cant klimb anymore...

    Sadly this happens very often. Would be better if the game was a video

    Obnoxious glacial starting cut scene, I wasn't allowed to skip it, and it lasted longer than I have time for. If I wanted a movie, i'd get a movie. I don't want to sit here with a controller being forced to watch utter trash. I got a refund.

    This game has a great storyline, interesting lore and nice gameplay, but facial animation is so afwul, Half-Life 1 facial animations even better! If you don't care about animations, I'll recommend this game, but if you do, don't buy it

Of course, it's a few years old game now, but the problems aren't really in the technical parts so I don't think that's an excuse of any kind.

    I hope they stop wasting big budgets in to these boring, sugar coated sleeping pills

В результате мы получаем внебрачного ребёнка "Ведьмака" и "Far Cry 3", которого в детстве обижали последние две части "Assassin's creed". Из достоинств этой игры могу выделить лишь дизайн роботов, и порой красивую картинку, но больше эту игру любить не за что.
    P.S. как же я люблю, когда в стелс эпизодах враги на минимальном уровне сложности (был поставлен на пару минут ради эксперимента) не умирают с одного попадания в голову из фиолетового лука. Просто 12 из 10, игра года, ждём сиквел, триквел, квадриквел и кроссовер с Зельдой.

    The unfortunate fact of Horizon is that most of what it does well, other games have done better, and they did it with a compelling who and where. This is the game you play after you’ve finished The Witcher 3, Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, and Far Cry: Primal. It is the greatest hits compilation of open-world games. Yeah, sure, you might want to own it, but the real connoisseur has the original albums.

    Horizon Zero Dawn has an unforgettable protagonist, world, story, visuals, soundtrack and gameplay. Due to minor issues with inventory management and quest selection, I cannot call it perfect but I can say it is absolutely worth your time.
