    First of all, I don't like so many exploration games, and for me, it was a pain. Even though the game is very nice in terms of art design, gameplay, and RPG elements, The world is amazing, the gameplay is nice, and he deserves one of the best games on Sony's console.

    one of Play station gorgeous & beautiful exclusives graphically & visually.
    same level as ghost & death stranding in level design & world creating.
    game-play may become repeated & boring. dialogue system is not good enough.
    Aloy became one of my favourite protagonist.

    Finally got to play Horizon Zero Dawn! A game that I wanted to play for some months now.
    I'm gonna be honest, the story in this game and the writing overall are actually a bit better than I expected, good stuff.
    The gameplay is really enjoyable! Fun combat system, smooth and fast animations, potions, traps, herbs, crafting ammo e.t.c. I just wish there were more types of weapons, but    Finally got to play Horizon Zero Dawn! A game that I wanted to play for some months now.

    I just wish there were more types of weapons, but still, very fun for the most part.
    The visuals are incredible; definitely one of the best looking Open World games I've ever played, period.
    The audio design is great too and the music is decent for sure.
    The world looks wonderful and the machines are absolutely spectacular, probably the highlight of the game.
    Last but not least, and there's a fair amount of side-content in the game.
    The game has some issues though; the side-content lacks depth and it has a lot of repetitive quests.
    Also, the characters are rather forgettable, except from maybe the protagonist, and the lip syncing is off-putting.
    The Frozen Wilds expansion was alright; a bit tedious at times but it's okay overall.

    + Machines

    Cons:
    - Not enough depth for the side-content
    - Unmemorable characters
    - Lip syncing

    I bought it yesterday on PS5. Class, beauty, glory, addictive gameplay, beautiful story, great graphics, I haven't been so hooked on the story of a game in a long time. 10/10

    Played the whole thing on steam deck, ran great.
    The gameplay isn't great, you have loads of weapons but none of them are good. The open world is basic and the stealth system is bad.
    The lore is good but could be told better

    This is a really nice treat for 9,99 € price tag, and 60 FPS on PS5 is the real sweet spot. The game itself is still beautiful in 2022 and it may be one of the most amazing on my 2022 playlist. The open world mechanics are quite classical but are also cleverly brought. I found zero annoying sidequests, they all show their own sub stories, collectibles are not a burden to find, everythingThis is a really nice treat for 9,99 € price tag, and 60 FPS on PS5 is the real sweet spot.     I had my doubt about this game before playing it It was the developer first time stepping away from the killzone game and thought a game with robot dinosaurs were going to be cringe level.     A very gripping story in one of the most beautiful created environments you will play in. Guerrilla games truly have a gem on their hands. Aloy feels like a true female protagonist not shoved into our faces to spread the message. The end of the game leaves you wanting more, to know what will happen afterwards and thankfully as I am writing this Forbidden West has come out.

I loved it from the beginning till the end, the story of a young female hunter trying to find the truth about her origin and the truth behind the Project Zero Dawn is so good that I cannot even find a word for it, simply one of the best stories ever made. There is a great amount of side quest (every side quest is like a small story, what is the most important, those quests are non-repetitive), type of machines ( every type of machine has its own weakness and strength, its on you to find the best way to hunt it down), weapons ( many types of weapons and ammunition means that you have many possibilities on which way to hunt down a machine and find a way to exploit their weaknesses) and many different ways to approach the game. The ability to craft its own ammunition is really a good way to use the environment and your surroundings. The map is huge and beautiful, the graphics are amazing and sometimes left me speechless when I saw how beautiful the world of HZD is. The Frozen Wilds DLC is also a great addition to the game, a little story within the regions of the Banuk ( a tribe who lives in the mountains). I have to admit this was the first time I have ever heard about Guerrilla games and I bow them, they made this game glorious, and with no doubt I am sure they're going to make great games also in the future.… Expand

    Furthermore - there is the mindless loop of gameplay of treading from location to location, watching a cut-scene (totally breaking any immersion as it is from cinematic angles), choosing from dialog options, etc. etc.

    One of the best games I have ever played. Fantastic story, sublime graphics, breath taking open word and much more. Fighting with machines was awesome. Cool machines with different difficulty level.

    Side missions are also very well written and executed besides main story. All in all its a thrilling experience to play this game.     I finished it twice in a row, without starting any other title in the meantime for even a minute. Second attempt was on the highest available difficulty, what makes the game fresh again. You feel that enemies are much stronger than you, those are beasts and Alloy is fragile, but it does no stop you from hunting them all down. The story itself is interesting enough to keep you engaged with it. There are some twist on the way, so it does not get boring. I really enjoyed the world made of somehow primitive tribes with advanced technology. I was super satisfied with the size of the world, filled with different activities (my favourite one are the hunting grounds, they are quite different from each other and provides great additional challenge). Clearly one of the best games available on PS4 if not one of the best games of all times. A must have!… Expand

I feel like this game is extremely overrated. Even nude mod for Aloy (on PC) didn't make me care to go back, that's how boring this game feels. It gets bad when she gets berated by her entire village to the point it's almost comical. What’s also comical is the MacGuffin she finds in the old underground ruins at the start of the game, where she picks up an ear piece from a dead body. It’s almost hilarious to me how she does it: she takes the head piece off of the dehydrated corps in a very apathetic manner, not even really being fazed by the fact that this is most likely her first time in these ruins and her first time seeing a dead body. “But it’s alright, because Neeto! I’ve got myself a new doohickey! Cool!”

    So, I'm not a fan of the first few hours.

    That said, I love the rest. Exploring the environments is incredible, absolutely gorgeous. I didn't care much for the story, but I didn't really need to because holy **** the game is fun AND visually amazing.

    The art direction is easily, hands down, the best thing about this game, and honestly an inspiration to me. I love the dystopian look with futuristic cyber robots blended in.

    I wasn't a fan of the villain of the "past world", he felt very forced and having him be the reason that Aloys mother and her crew of people died is pretty admirable but boring. Also, I don't know if it's just me, but I really didn't like Aloy's mother. Maybe she just rubbed me the wrong way, but she came across as a real pretentious a-hole. Regardless, her actions did say good about her in the end, but still.

    Overall, the game is decent to above average. It's not something I would go back to anytime soon, but it's pretty damn good for what it is, and worth the price for the environmental designs alone.

    And even though I'm not a fan of Aloy's first hour's of gamplay, I did like her after a while and do feel there is a lot of unused potential that they could explore of her in the sequel.

    I really do hope they give her the love and care she deserves in the new game, I really want to like her better!

    Really outstanding experience playing this game!
    Whole created world is just fantastic, if you are sci-fi lover like me you will be astonished witch all collectibles and world description scrapes you can find.
    But I had to take off one point - story could be a bit better written.

    Overall - must play for PS gamers (or PC)!

    Awesome open world game with loads going on. If you can see it you can go there! Superb graphics with awesome sunsets, plus the gameplay is superb, very fluid and addictive. For me its better than games like Witcher due to the excellent    Unwittingly I completed frozen wilds before the rest of the main HZD game which was tough. I was only about level 17 when taking on big bosses!

    When I first got the game at launch I wasn't too impressed with it...but ended up getting it when the Complete Edition came out and I am glad I did.
    The game has one of the best combat and really interesting mechanics and the locations are interesting too. Side quests could be better and I wish they could introduce a bit more stuff to do, but    One of the must play exclusives from Sony.
    When I first got the game at launch I wasn't too impressed with it...but ended up getting it when the Complete Edition came out and I am glad I did.

    The beginning of the story is interesting, Aloy sector in a very natural way, and when the time comes for the test, there is a break of expectation with unexpected ones. But after that, the 'second arc' is    If you like open world RPG with an interesting lore, I highly recommend this game. This is not my case but I ended up giving the game a chance and I definitely didn't regret it.

    The beginning of the story is interesting, Aloy sector in a very natural way, and when the time comes for the test, there is a break of expectation with unexpected ones. But after that, the 'second arc' is pretty boring. There comes a part of the story that has a 'more primitive policy' that is very interesting. Some nomenclatures do not follow naturally as in some great games (tribes mainly). The mysteries are cool, but in this game you know you have something behind certain things. I find it a lot more awesome when something you thought was normal, having a twist or a revelation that you didn't even see.
    The final mission is pretty cool. The final battle of the game I thought was weak, it doesn't even have a Boss ending.

    The gameplay against the machines is a bow monster hunter with some mechanical extras, I liked it. Melee combat against machines is ok, but against humans it didn't work very well. I really liked the physics of the game. I was only surprised at the climbing system at first, but then I got used to it, extracted too automatically.

    The graphics in general are very good (for PS4). The scenarios are good. Some faces are very ugly, especially outside the cutscenes. Not even for the developers to make a cutscene when you climb the tower and the game reveal things from the past (during this campaign), did holograms run in the game, I found it very weak.

    Soundtrack is reasonable, it didn't add much to my experience but it didn't do it badly.

    I found several bugs, graphics, in the world and one in particular that I was stuck in a hole impossible to get out of the map. I didn't expect that from such an old game.

    The DLC is quite decent, adding lore and giving a sense of what the possible sequences will be about. The final boss is much better than the original, unique, challenging game (it may be because I was 15 levels below) and the fight still has interesting mechanics.    … Expand

    The game is great for its genre, however it is not very original, so you will love it if you have not played a lot of action adventures/soft-RPGs before but if you're very experienced in this kind of gaming you might find it repetitive/a sequel/another of the same for a large part of it.

    Прекрасная боевка, которая мне напомнила Oni (не похожестью, а самобытностью, все таки в Oni был упор на рукопашку, а здесь средняя дистация, лук и стелс, довольно неплохой). Конечно, нужно играть на самом высоком уровне сложности, для полноты ощущений!
    Сюжетов, их тут два. И один мне не очень нравится - это собственно похождения Элой, из которых можно выделить непосредственность остроту ума и жизнелюбие главной героини и Тихона, который тоже хорош со всех сторон! Жесткий, умный, целеустремленный. Эта пара прекрасна, как лед и пламя! И придает банальному сюжету красок.
    Но второй сюжет - это просто бомба! Настолько сильный! Это история того, что случилось! Как получились собирательные и раннефеодальные племена на фоне высокотехнологичных машин? В том числе это история Элизабет Собек. Когда в конце Элой находит Собек - это очень сильный момент, если вы изучали лор - вы не останетесь равнодушными в этот момент! Этот сюжет прекрасен. А главное, что вы можете его легко пропустить, потому что рассказан он из записок, аудиофайлов, отчетов. дневников и прочего, как мозйака складывается целостная картина произошедшей трагедии. It is always excellent and you will want more until you get the final conclusion. In short it shows the best and worst of mankind. Also the side characters are well done too. I enjoyed their stories and struggles. Be it the mysterious Sylens, the matriarchs of of the Nora, especially Elisabeth Sobeck, Erend, Olin, Avads struggle to change past wrongs or Talaanah. In short there are plenty good characters here and their side quests and development is meaningful. The world is huge and filled with many enemies, villages of different tribes and challenges. This would not matter enough if the gameplay was not good. It is however excellent. Starting from the beginning where Aloy is taught to hunt you will always get better as you acquire better weapons, tools and abilities. This game gives you a lot of tools and possibilities to defeat your human and robotic enemies. You have to be careful as attacking blindly strong enemies or groups of enemies will get you killed. I like the AI of the enemies. They search for you, retreat to a better suited place when you are in a spot where they cant attack you and swarm you if they can (Of cause there are exceptions). With many tools and preparation (of traps) you can overcome all enemies. It is so enjoyable when you defeat tough enemies just with careful laid out traps. You should or better said must also use stealth. With the right abilities you can severely damage enemies before the battle even started or vanquish them instantly. A minor complain is that you too much have to rely on the right kind of bushes;-). There is a crafting system in the game. You can improve your inventory and add parts to your weapons / tools that improve them. Again it help's a lot. In total I enjoyed how the story and game play compliment each other. The combination makes an addicting and enjoyable game. For the frozen wilds expansion: It is an enjoyable challenge when you finished the main story. Even when you are high leveled the enemies will challenge you. The new story and characters are excellent and give you a lot of enjoyable content. It is more of the same in a positive way. El mundo abierto un poco vacío pero creo que tiene un tamaño ideal para que no se haga pesado. Lo he disfrutado todo menos algunas conversaciones que se hacían pesadas.     One of the only games that the story kept me completely invested in all the time. The side missions aren’t quite as good as they could be but I didn’t care because I actively avoided them as I was so interested in the next piece of the story. Truly unique and satisfying gameplay as well. A joy to play more than once

    He tenido la oportunidad de haber jugado todos los mayores hits de la consola hasta el momento y sostengo mi punto.

    Ojalá y Guerilla pueda darnos una experiencia superior para la próxima entrega de la saga Horizon.

    Ok with the critique of the story and characters out of the way. As regards to gameplay the climbing sections were arcade basic. While combat with the humans was kind of underwhelming.

    The rest of the game was from my point of view phenomenal. The environments looked really beautiful and told a story of not just the present, but the past. A large game world to traverse and at some point mounts are available, but I hardly used them. The combat was a lot of fun to engage in and looked visually amazing. Progression based leveling/weapons/gear led to using stealth and traps early game. Mid to late game going fun gung ho against gigantic mechanical enemies oh what a gaming high.

    This has a big map and this is a long game if you do all the activities even without the Frozens Wilds add-on. I’d say this about Frozen Wilds the enemies tank up more, do hit harder and spam more attacks, but drop some really nice modification loot. The base game was enough content. I could take or leave Frozen worlds, because it is more of the same gameplay and it doesn’t offer up that much lore and story wise.

    I have to say for all it’s flaws with the character writing and some underwhelming gameplay choices I think this is my fav game of this console generation. On a third replay and the first new game+. The gameplay loop keeps pulling me back in for sure. Even when the story and characters are just old hat now.    … Expand

My only real criticism: certain aspect of the melee combat can cumbersome at times but that issue was infrequent and not enough to detract from the overall game. There are a handful of other minor detractors (occasionally odd character animations, the inventory/crafting is a little cumbersome, etc.) but they shouldn't be enough to prevent overall enjoyment.

    I usually drop all those boring repeating sidequests (defense the enemies in the west, defend the enemies in the north, defend the.......), not so in HZD. Each of the side quest is unique in its own and well and intense written. Bonus point for that.

    My very little critic goes to the sometimes annoying controls but I am a keyboard player and have sometimes trouble with controllers. Its difficult to pack such a lot of controls into such less buttons. But I had preferred a more common assignment tough. Next I miss the ability to dive or fly/glide over and into these wonderful world.

    Overall this game is on par with gems like Zelda BOTW or Far Cry and pinned as an alltime favourite of mine.

    I am very glad that I have been granted to play this game and, i a word, if I was twenty again my daughter would probably named Aloy.

You must consider your fight and plan a combat strategy. I wanted to score a 9, but I was never a fan of games (or movies) using Native-American themes for anyone other than Native-Americans. The story, when in motion, is heavy, engaging, believable, and fairly profound. And... Writing, writing, writing. The unique writing of the side quests, especially in the rich Frozen Wilds, is extraordinarily memorable. While youFirst off, I don't give a lot of 10s. Aloy is voiced by the incredible Ashly Burch and provides one of the best performances of the generation.
    The *only* flaw with the game is that it starts slow. I would contend that actually the first 10-20 hours are not immensely gripping. As your weapon count increases and the plot developments unleash, it's near impossible to put down. But there is a bit of a slog at the beginning.     With that said, the game looks great and that's not something I see often: the graphics are colorful and vibrant and the animations are really smooth! Again I usually don't care about these petty things but the game LOOKS damn good and even in some parts where it's metallic and very lacking color it still looks extremely good.

    You'll control Aloy, a young girl who you'll be controlling from the early ages to her adulthood and even though it's a very sloppy start, I did actually enjoy the first hours of gameplay a lot more than I thought despite the small area. That's a sign of a good game there when even the first hours are amazingly fun and thankfully it keeps getting better!

    The game is an open world action-adventure game with RPG mechanics and also stealth mechanics as well and I'm surprised to see that a lot of these mechanics do work together: stealth is heavily rewarded but also your accuracy and the fact that enemies have different weak spots makes each fight very exciting. On top of that enemies have a very good AI and they WILL outplay you a lot of times, which I didn't expect at all.

    The RPG mechanics do work well as well and I haven't found any real useless skill (maybe only 2 or 3?): all of them have some usefulness and there's no real bloating, which is something that I often find in RPGs. The best thing is that the game doesn't really feel grindy either because killing machines and enemies grant materials to get, which are used for all variety of things. Seriously, not once I found my kills to be a waste: I always had something that I can use later and in the 20 hours of gameplay that I did so far, I just never got bored because there's so much stuff to do and so many ways to achieve your goals.

    Speaking of goals, the map isn't as big as, say, BOTW or even Skyrim BUT I did find it to be a lot more packed and full of life than most other open world games: you will find enemies and even bandits more often and when you don't you'll be exploring in search of relics and medical herbs and more mats to refill yourself, since you can create your own arrows and you will need a lot of them.
    There are also quests and they're rather nice, even the ones I found less enjoyable: they are well done and often require to travel long distances which alone is quite the enjoyable trip

    Now I might forget some details but I do want to talk about the negatives and while they didn't really bother me, they should be mentioned.

    The combat is rather simplified and extremely lazy: you will have one weapon most of the time and you can either do a heavy or a light attack, and that's it. Heavy attacks can stun your enemy and allow you to do a critical hit, but that's about it.

    Instead, your main weapon is your ranged ones, such as bows and...precision bow and...rapid bow? yeah, it's not varied but they do their job, especially the rope launcher that ties enemies down on the ground. Just lacks variety.

    Stealth could've been better, especially when you will be unseen in high grass but outside of it it's easy to get spotted, and enemies tend to have quite a sight. It's annoying but not game-breaking.

    Sometimes prompts for attacks won't appear and I often smashed the enemy with a light attack instead of doing a critical hit. This also happens for other activities such as jumping and even saving,

    Climbing is very off: you cannot climb anywhere unless there's a yellow spot - a bit like mirror's edge and Assassin's Creed - and that's really annoying especially when you can't jump over a small cliff!

    And last, but not least, Aloy is kind of bland and that's a shame because she is seen as a very brave and independent woman but it's hardly shown. Other characters are also very rarely developed and that's probably a thing we could've used more detail on.

    Overall, I highly recommend this game mostly for the simple reason that unlike many AAA games this one has no major DLC (besides the Frozen Wilds, which is included), no Microtransactions, no Lootboxes, no season pass: NOTHING! This game is as clean as the old ps2 games with FW being an expansion more than simple DLC, with its own area and more quests to play.

    This alone is, for me, a selling point because I've been avoiding AAA games ever since they went full greedy and this is one of those few and I'm super glad I bought it.

    With that said give this a shot and let's support devs that actually give a **** about their games!    … Expand

    The base version of HZD was one of my favorite games of 2017, so it makes sense that a complete version of HZD would be a must-own for not only myself but anyone who has a PS4. Seriously, give this game a shot.

    Very good game, but main story could be longer.
    Too many loot and crafting option, dont like that.
    Frozen Wild dlc is boring, dont buy it.

Horizon Zero Dawn shines in a lot of places, but it also has a lot of room to be that much better when I'm sure the inevitable sequels come out. The premise of trying to take down robot animals with a bow and arrow is interesting enough in of itself, where the game shines however is your ability to trap an animal and have it fight alongside you. What's missing I think is more variety in what you can do with the machine once you take them over. There's only 3 machines you can actually ride and control, leaving some of the cooler things, like the robot t-rex, as something that will fight for you, but you can't control it in any way. I would say that's a major drawback, nothing that makes the game not shine, but they definitely could've, and probably should've done a bit more with the taking over machines mechanic. The graphics are superb, the characters are fairly good, but there's something special the game captured in the tutorial that it just ditched for the rest of the game(I won't spoil) that I think was a shame. It started off so well, but the rest of the game the characterizations are sporadic and never really hit as hard as those first few moments with the game. This is a must if you own the PS4, but as I said, I can't talk about this in terms of what else came out that year. It could probably have a bit more randomness in the encounters, but overall it feels like a very polished game and if they do the sequel right this could end up as one of my favorite series'. One last thing, don't play on the easy difficulties, it's a much better game when it's more of a challenge.… Expand

    Increible este juego, unos graficos mas que destables, unos escenarios muy bien trabajados, un gameplay robusto y divertido y Aloy la protagonista, se le coje cariño rapido, sin duda uno de los mejores juegos del año 2017.

    Le hacen falta detalles para enriquecer la experiencia, mas secretos, posadas, mascotas, pero la base que han montado es magnifica.     Detalles que no me gustaron, el sistema de combate cuerpo a cuerpo con lanza, me parece uno de los puntos flacos, afortunadamente casi nunca se utiliza y realmente no es muy necesario, y lo otro seria la falta de encanto de los NPCs y los pueblos que son una excusa para la trama principal, son planos vacios y sin gracia, ademas que no me gustaron los diseños de los campamentos son burdos, esas misiones son las mas flojas y tediosas    … Expand

    Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition, while worded in a way that seems to invalidate the "completeness" of the base game, is a bundled package that gives all the content at a price of $50. The base game was excellent, with a well written story, refreshing and likable female protagonist Aloy, breathtaking visuals (easily one of the best of this year) and machine enemies that encouragedHorizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition, while worded in a way that seems to invalidate the "completeness" of the base game, is a bundled package that gives all the content at a price of $50. The base game was excellent, with a well written story, refreshing and likable female protagonist Aloy, breathtaking visuals (easily one of the best of this year) and machine enemies that encouraged hunting techniques that felt satisfying to take down. The expansion The Frozen Wilds was a solid and good expansion that introduced new enemies, terrain, and enough content to service mid-game progress and give a bit more of the major plot and minor cultures together. I would not call it great however as the new additions are limited in scope and still has the same issues that the base game has but with this bundled edition it will flow very well with newcomers. The other additions from the digital deluxe version are cool, but nothing to write home about (as they are just bonus items and a digital artbook that are not game changing or significant to most players). Overall, the pros of this game is pretty excellent, though I can see why naysayers can still say it does not do anything new in the open world landscape. In my opinion, the game is aware of this and yet sets out to make its experience fun and satisfying all the way through despite that notion.

    The cons for this game (since we must be the critical keen people that we are) is what keeps this game from reaching a master level status. The uncanny valley and boring minor characters aside from Aloy and a few handful feels like Guerilla did not understand how people talked in real life, so they assumed constant moving around and hand gyrations was the answer. You could argue this is a nitpick, but the consistency and frequency of this was apparent in almost the entire run (including the expansion) of the game for me and I found it so obvious that it floors me there still hasn't been a patch. The melee combat leaves alot to be desired and with the inclusions from the expansion this still leaves it underwhelming, lacking a combo or more effective system. The weapon variety is solid, but only a few weapons are really needed to overcome all the challenges, making some feel more prefaced and needed than others. The side quests and errands are standard fetch quests that don't offer anything super exciting that you have seen in any other triple AAA open world. The armor system is weak where there is not enough modifications to give Aloy an edge in combat without constantly changing to even get a minor benefit. The best armor in the game is all you need and once you wear there is no point to the others aside from the visuals. Load times are a bit too long for my taste, not so much booting up the game but as you travel to other regions. Even simple close travels can take long and arguably you could have been there and on foot. The human enemies are not that great to fight and their ranks are pretty underwhelming.

    Aside from all the critiquing, this is still an excellent bundle and deal. The content and beauty of the game's world will snare you into being the hunter Aloy is and like her strong personality as a result. The music and combat all feel satisfying and great at times to play, the crafting system on the fly is brilliant and the perk trees encourage experimentation. Ultimately through 75 hours+ of content and new game pluses, harder difficulties and photo modes, you can expect Horizon Zero Dawn to impress even if some think it isn't original. It has one of the better open world stories to date, one of the best female protagonists in awhile and a beautiful land to explore. An excellent game at an excellent price that is absolutely worth your time.    … Expand

    Playing Horizon Zero Dawn on PlayStation 5 is such an excellent experience that it made me excited for the upcoming Forbidden West and keep in mind; I rarely get excited for upcoming games. If you still haven't played it yet, I wholeheartedly recommend it.
