There is nothing revolutionary here with the mechanics but it happens to be the best twin stick shooter I have ever played. Controls, gameplay and graphics are all excellent. Mixes things up a lot in adventure mode and really keeps you wanted to progress. Only knock would be that it could use more music tracks as after hours of playing you really don't want to hear the songs anymore.

The newly released DLC that has been downloaded free, is, simply put amazing! If there is one developer to support, surely one that gives so much, deserves our support?

Insanely fun and addictive twin stick shooter. The difficulty ramps up fairly quick, not just in the levels themselves but in the adventure mode progression as well. Highly recommended for any age and this game does wonders for developing your reaction time. Expand

Very intense and action-packed, really engaging. Beautiful special effects.

Pretty difficult, which can be forbidding, but also thrilling when you get past a level.

Solid game. I wish the co op modes included the classic modes too. I really wanted to play those co op. The co op mode itself is really intense and challenging though and feels really satisfying to beat. Although, it feels pretty short. The main game has a ton of levels, but for some reason it feels like it gets repetitive after awhile and I start getting bored. Great game in shortSolid game. Amazing twin stick shooter for the serious gamer, feels like a spiritual sequel to Galaxies on Wii. A free update added a substantial amount of quality extra content! If you like Resogun you will find similar thrills here. The only issue I have is my analogue sticks get punished after a heavy session on this game. Highly recommended!

I just f/cking love geometry wars. Tthis is pure perfection for me. Starting with excellent smooth gameplay and controls finishing on really nice challenge and pure fun flowing at You straight out of the screen. This is essentially what the video game should be. I couldnt recommend this game enough. This is even better than resogun, it has waaay more content.

Takes the standard geometry wars formula, and overcomplicates it to near breaking, mostly by reducing the effective size of the arena and adding obstacles. Arenas can be spherical, cubes, peanut-shaped, and more, but all feel extremely cramped given the volume of enemies coming at you. It feels like the devs realize how tough the game is, since you don't lose your score multiplier by dying, firepower boosts are only obtained through destroying a specific enemy set, and many challenges are unlimited life with a time limit.

The classic game is included, and the core gameplay is still excellent, but this feels a bit more in the hardcore camp than usual.

Just a fun, simple twin stick shooter. It is really addictive with a lot of creative and interesting enemies. For something that looks so simple. That last boss is a tough one. And it keeps getting you to go back to improve your scores.

It seems that everytime an IP is handed off to another development studio, they can never capture what the original dev team made. Activision shut down Bizarre Creations, the original development team behind all of the Geometry War games. So now without the original team, Activision goes to Lucid Games, made up by some of the original devs who worked at Bizarre. Yet, even with this, Geometry Wars™ 3: Dimensions Evolved fails to capture what made the first two games so good.

Firstly the artstyle. Something just seems... off. The 3D, and muted look of the enemies really hampers the game's atmosphere, and nearly does not look as good as Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved 2.

Secondly the sound design, it sucks. The songs, and sound effects just aren't good, which really dulls down the excitement. Nothing has that punchy yet fun, and light tone like in GW2.

Thirdly, the 3D maps. The 3D maps are definitely a cool addition, however they are incredibly disorienting. I usually don't suffer from motion sickness, but after paying this game for too long, it really messes with my head. Seeing that the game essentially forces you to play these maps mean that I struggle to play without getting headaches.

I also had some really weird imput lag/stuttering. The issue stems from the game always defaulting to a 60Hz refresh rate, even with VSync off. I had to fix these issues by manually editing the settings file to change the refresh rate to 144Hz, and made the game run in Windows mode instead of Fullscreen to avoid screen tearing. There is NO excuse to why these settings aren't game menu.

But not everything is bad. The game has 4 player online multiplayer, and local split screen, though you can only go through a 'career' type mode rather than being able to choose what gamemodes to play. They also made the enemy spawns more apparent, meaning you have more time to react instead of being insta-killed. You also have a career mode, with bosses to battle which can be very interesting.

Sadly, Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved is a lackluster entry in the series.

This is a marvellous twin-stick arcade blast-up! It's so addictive, has many cool game modes, insane scoring, and intense challenges.

The visuals really draw you in, and the screen can end up total chaos, sometimes you'll wonder how your brain can even manage. It's silky smooth to play and designed by people who really understand the genre. If you love other superb twin-stick games

    GREAT game!

A fine twin-stick shooter that's just a few minor tweaks away from something really special - though score-chasers up for a stern challenge may well adore its charms. [Feb 2015, p.95]

Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions is a near perfect game let down only by the demanding mission padding and a soundtrack that represents a slight step backwards from its predecessors.

Gorgeous, compulsive shooting action with incredible depth, but the score battles can be mismatched. [Feb 2015, p.76]
