    A 2D platformer with quality gameplay, beautiful artistic visuals, passable audio, and an interesting story that's not too overbearing. Playing as Flynn, the Crimson Son, is a fun experience. You earn a variety of weapons, elemental spells, and skill tree upgrades that keep the experience fresh throughout the game. The spells and weapons in particular will allow you to progress furtherA 2D platformer with quality gameplay, beautiful artistic visuals, passable audio, and an interesting story that's not too overbearing. Playing as Flynn, the Crimson Son, is a fun experience. You earn a variety of weapons, elemental spells, and skill tree upgrades that keep the experience fresh throughout the game. The spells and weapons in particular will allow you to progress further through the game by removing obstacles or solving relatively simple platforming puzzles.

    PROS:
    -Excellent 'hand crafted' settings and characters
    -Level design
    -Great mix of abilities
    -Upgrades are meaningful and affordable i.e. no need to 'grind'
    -Journey is the focus of the game-not the story,
    -Overworld map is a positive addition to the scenery and an ok metric for progress
    -Might be a con for some, but no usable items/equipment is a plus since it eliminates mindless inventory management

    CONS:
    -Enemies become somewhat repetitive and are typically reskinned throughout the game
    -Boss fights also suffer from little variance. You'll face multiple knights with somewhat similar movesets. Little skill/effort is needed to figure out how to beat them.
    -A wide range of creative characters, but little development. Most are simply discarded after they have served their purpose.
    -The Scourge events are an annoyance that obstructs game progress and forces you to repeat through levels you have cleared with a darker theme. I do like the premise of the enemy attempting to fight back instead of breezing along and conquering the map piece by piece, but I don't think this was the best way to implement resistance.
    -Soundtrack is ok, but could be substantially improved. A high quality listening experience is almost a necessity for these types of games and it falls flat. It's not a game you'll have to play on mute, but there's nothing impressionable worth remembering.

    Very good and Well made 2d platform, a fun experience with austanding gameplay,good sound,intensive boss batles.

    There’s nothing really new or overly exciting to be found in Flynn: Son of Crimson, but its well-executed blend of platforming, combat and light puzzle-solving keeps you occupied from beginning to end. It’s a fairly short, easy-going adventure (though it does have difficulty levels if you want more of a challenge), and one that’s sure to please fans of old-school platformers – just as long as they’re not expecting anything revolutionary.

    Through its fun stages, weapon variety, and unique spell system, Flynn: Son of Crimson makes for a fun platformer to have in your catalog. There’s enough present to enjoy one time through, but added effort was provided to add a bit of replay value to the adventure. It may be tough to find a good indie platformer given the size of the genre, but there’s a genuine adventure waiting for you here.

    Flynn: Son of Crimson is an excellent indie specimen of what makes action platformers great. The refreshing combat system and beautiful yet increasingly complex level design will remind you of what you loved the most from your childhood platforming classics. Aside from Flynn’s unfortunately short length, I am quite excited to see more from Studio Thunderhorse, as they created a fantastic game. And they let me pet a gigantic dog.
