    En mi opinión este remake supera en todo al juego original. En lo gráfico obviamente, en la profundidad de los personajes y sobretodo en lo jugable: que, en mi opinión, es la mejor. No solo entre los final fantasy sino entre los videojuegos en general.

    This is simply one of the best games ever made, the visuals and the story is amazing, the characters are written so so good, implementations of side quest is top notch. The only thing I can complain of is that the Story isnt finished in this game and there will be sequels but this game can also stand as a stand alone (its like Infinity war and Endgame yk what I am saying?)

    I do recommend this.

    The first FF i actually finished and the story was pretty interesting with well-crafted side characters throughout and a likable main in Cloud who was a more layered character than I anticipated being. The gameplay is fun and engaging with the party system and the graphics/performance are stellar. Voice acting is great too. Only complaint is game did feel like it    I do recommend this.

    This is the best kind of compromise for people who likes turn base game play.
    The Materia system allows for deep customization. you have a party system and can switch between your party members as indented for a FF game.
    The Ghost plot makes no sense.

    I loved the old Final Fantasy VII back in the days and due to the many changes - mostly due to the removal of the turn-based combat system - I was very skeptical and didn't feel any interest in playing it. A couple of months ago I somehow stumpled across the game, gave it a try and binged through it like I haven't in a long, long time.
    Square    This is the best remake I've ever played.

    Its very very boring. It would be OK for PS2 or PS3, but for PS5, NO, its out of date and very bad game. They didn't, try to make something good, they just want our money, I have it, and I try to convince myself to finish it..

    Not bad, but unfortunately it is hard to really hold my interest to keep playing the game. I do like the game but at the same time you are largely working on the game chapter by chapter and there is only so much that can be done in a chapter. After a bit of trial and error I defeated the chapter bosses but all of them are brutal tough which made the game less enjoyable.     The people still complaining that it's not turn based garbage either need to touch grass or pound sand because nobody cares at this point.     Straight off the bat, I knew that it wasn't going to be the whole game. However, what I didn't know, was how disappointing exploring Midgar would be. Some of the side quests boil down to: Find 3    For the newcomers, I can see the game being mind-boggling and beautiful enough to warrant a high score. However, for the fans of the original, this entry falls short of the 1997 original.

    Straight off the bat, I knew that it wasn't going to be the whole game. However, what I didn't know, was how disappointing exploring Midgar would be. Some of the side quests boil down to: Find 3 chocobos that you have to traverse the entire world map for in chapter 14. The world map itself is essentially a long straight linear line with some offshoots to dungeons making it a series of Y-shaped corridors. The quality of the side quests simply doesn't justify the game being Midgar only. Sequences in the original game have been stretched to 30 minutes so you spend more time with your favorite characters that have been brought to life, instead of actually having something meaningful develop plotwise.

    Once the nostalgia wears off and you replay it, all of these little moments that were good on the first go, fall short and you just want to get it over with as soon as possible so you can go find that missing item/quest.

    Then there is the ending. This is an ending that is so disconnected with the tone of the rest of the remake and the original that I can't even begin to describe the drop in the enjoyment you get going from chapters 17 to 18. This ending fills older fans with worry and confuses newer players. SE either put this in just to get older fans talking (and will loop back to the events of the original just so they can "surprise" the older fans) or they have just majorly changed it for whatever reason. Either way, it's a shocking drop in storywriting and enjoyment compared to the rest of the game. Not only does the story become strange here. The characters they have lovingly built up in the first 35 hours completely change personalities. Aerith becomes a cryptic nonsense spewing prophet and the other characters just accept it and walk into the portal that pops up for the final boss just like that. Suddenly, even though this doesn't fit how shes portrayed in the rest of the game at all, Tifa says she's willing to defy destiny. Cloud doesn't say anything. Barrett, despite just being saved by fate, also agrees to spit in its face. Whether the change itself was good or not, I just cannot believe how badly they messed up the execution.

    I don't see how they will build up anything for part 2 anymore. The sephiroth and Aerith in this game are beings who can open dimensional portals like gods at this point of the story already. Our main cast of characters have already fought a literal manifestation of fate. Imagine going from that to the Midgar Zolom in game 2...

    Once I reached this ending and replayed the game on chapter select, because of how much of a bad taste the ending left in my mouth, all of the other issues with the games snail-like pacing in some areas become noticeable and I realized that this game was not justified in being Midgar only. I am now also fearful of how many sections they will release it in and how expanding it and adding filler willl lessen the impact of the special moments in the original.

    This absolutely horrendous experience is made even worse by the attitudes of the fanboys on the subs and forums discussing this game where any criticism is met with trolling or straw man arguments. Shame on Square-Enix for turning the Final Fantasy Franchise into a joke and shame on the people who support this direction    … Expand

    Got this game, I think because it was free on PS plus at the time. I played it a fair bit and it’s OK. I couldn’t care less about the story because the cutscenes are incredibly boring, which is what drags this game down heavily for me. The same thing happened in FXVI for me, but the combat in that game was better. In this game combat is OK but gets repetitive and is pretty easy. I only gotGot this game, I think because it was free on PS plus at the time. I played it a fair bit and it’s OK. I couldn’t care less about the story because the cutscenes are incredibly boring, which is what drags this game down heavily for me.     I'm actually speechless, this game is absolutely incredible. it's bigger and better than the original in every possible way, a huge improvement when it comes to the visuals, gameplay, animations, character models and pretty much everything you can think of.
    I'm going to start with the gameplay first, well what can I say, oh my freaking    My introduction into the world of Final Fantasy.
    I'm actually speechless, this game is absolutely incredible. it's bigger and better than the original in every possible way, a huge improvement when it comes to the visuals, gameplay, animations, character models and pretty much everything you can think of.

    I'm going to start with the gameplay first, well what can I say, oh my freaking god, arguably the best combat system i've ever seen in a videogame to date, the mix of Turn Based with Real Time Action is honestly flawless, it works perfectly and it feels very satisfying. The materia system is amazing, there is a lot of customization, it's easy to use and understand and makes the combat so unique and enjoyable. Also the boss fights are insane, there are so many of them, and they are quite challenging, you can't really play mindlessly and expect to win easily, you actually need patience and strategy to beat them, and I really liked that.

    Now when it comes to the characters, I think they're great, they have likeable personalities and slowly develop pretty well, their designs are fantastic and memorable, and you really get to bond with them which makes you feel like you're part of the team.

    It's worth to mention that the game is actually very big, the world feels alive despite being limited, you can just get lost in it. There is a lot of content, side quests, various minigames, VR missions and rewarding activities, so many things to do and places to explore, it's a pretty long experience and it's also very replayable, trying out new builds and doing the challenges is very fun.

    As for the main story, it starts pretty tame but things go wild quick, and even though it drags quite a bit later on, there are so many spectacles in it, some of the cutscenes are just cinematic masterpieces, everything looks gorgeous.
    The only issue I have with the story is the writing and some of the dialogue, it's pretty interesting for the most part, but it can get quite weak sometimes, some plot points aren't explained well and don't really make sense either, the story is clearly unfinished and I'm hoping the sequels do a decent job at explaining few things. I respect the fact that the writers managed to surpass our expectations by altering parts of the overarching story, it's a very risky but ambitious thing to do, and I really want them to nail it and achieve their goal. Overall I like the story a lot, and I believe that it's only going to get better from now on, I'm very excited to see how everything turns out in the end.

    Lastly, I really need to mention the stellar soundtrack, it's just so beautiful, one of the most iconic and magical soundtracks in a JRPG ever.

    It really is an outstanding videogame, It's not only an improved version of the original Final Fantasy VII, but it stands on its own very well. I would go as far to say that this is the definitive Remake, and the best Remake I've ever played.

    Seriously amazing remake and easily improves on original. Original was fantastic game in 1997, but it's obvious that it needed and deserved well made upgrade and that's exactly what this first part of the remake trilogy is. Top-tier voice acting, great boss fights (also boss designs are very good), beautiful music and very good story. Can't wait for Part 2.

    The characters are some of the most engaging and likable characters I've seen in a while, and even some minor side-characters surprised me a lot.
    The combat system is excellent! It's like a combination of Hack 'n' Slash & Turn Based at the same time, there are 4 completely different party members to control, tons of different skills, items and builds to use, it's deep, organic, it feels awesome and it looks phenomenal! The RPG elements are executed well and the Materia system is just wonderful.
    The bosses are some of the best I've ever encountered in a videogame.
    The music is fantastic for sure and it fits the visuals perfectly, and the visuals are breathtaking; the lighting, the animations, the textures and the setting are some of the best I've seen in a while.
    Lastly, the set-pieces and the visual representation are absolutely top-tier! Some cutscenes look like they are out of a CGI movie and there are so many jaw-dropping moments.
    I do have few minor complaints with the game though; the textures look bad at times, some chapters feel significantly longer than they should've been, and the side-quests are uninteresting for the most part.

    + Flawless gameplay
    + Incredible music & boss fights
    + Absolutely gorgeous visuals & set-pieces

    Cons:
    - Inconsistent texture quality
    - Pacing issues in some instances

But honestly, the remake is easier to play for my generation and playing as the iconic characters: Cloud, Tifa, Barret, and Aerith is amazing to see it again for theIk where getting like more games remade with the original FFVII (1997). In short, as a game it is entertaining and nice to watch but it doesn't go any further, it stays at the level of any RPG action of the last generations except for the technical improvement of the consoles and engines themselves. If we add to all the above that it is a game that in its original version came complete in several CDs and in this case is sold as several episodes that are worth the same as a complete game each we can reach the conclusion that the idea is to get the maximum benefit at the expense of mistreating a classic title in an unnecessary way.

    I don't recommend its purchase since the original game is a much better way to live the FF IIV experience and in case you are not looking for that experience but for a game of this style I think there are similar options in the market that for the price of a single episode of this title include the complete game.    … Expand

    My first game in Final Fantasy franchise and definitely not last! I was amazed by how beautifully the game looks, including in-game cutscenes with smooth transitions into gameplay. Same goes for level design. Can't wait for the continuation!

    Everything seems great: Final Fantasy style story, charming and vivid characters, gorgeous visual effects, etc. But combat system neglects player's interactions against enemies regarding to traditional ACT games, which makes me confused some kind.

    I really enjoy this game.
    The combat was challenging without being frastuated , the graphics was amazing and the story terrific. On the downside, the classic boring side quests something which is very usual to rpg games. I understand some fans disappointed from the changes but for me is something different to look forward for the next installments.

    O jogo do PS1 é 10 vezes melhor. Esse ramake só enfia cutcines a cada 20 segundos de gameplay, fora não ter um controle de inteligência artificial para os companheiros do grupo. 30h de jogo e 26h foi o próprio jogo mostrando cenas automáticas .

    Nomura menage to ruin a game with an already written plot and ruined the original good gameplay for make it more casual friendly....
    Pure trash, just like that ff16 garbage, Square isn't able to make new good Final Fantasy game today

    Finished the game yesterday. It was overall a really fun experience, however there's some things that I didn't like, which is why I give it an 8/10. If I could give a more detailled score, it'd be a 76/100.

And turns out, that's exactly what happens. The combat is stretched out to cover for the fact that they don't want to reveal too much lore so they can make a trilogy. Even without knowing that, you can tell, and that doesn't speak for the game.

    never played the original game, but this one - amazing. story and characters got me. And suprisingly gameplay is interesting and fun, altough this game is not like any other modern huge open world game. Deffinetly i would recommend to play this game at least once.

    Stop letting square get away with literally lying. It’s not a remake, it’s an unnecessary sequel with fan-fiction-tier writing. How on earth there isn’t unanimous laughter at the whispers in the same vein as Star Wars Prequel’s midichlorians is beyond me. One of the dumbest ideas to ever get greenlit for a big budget project.

    Below was my original review, and after playing through Intergrade I have changed it to a 9/10 - I am very excited to see what happens in the future installments. At the time of writing this, I was upset that the game was diverging from the story I loved. Now I am very excited to see where it goes.

    Loved this game until I started to realize what the 'whispers' actually represent and saw the ending. This is not a remake. It is a Re-imagining. A Retcon. Nothing more than a way to disregard the original story and insert some Kingdom Hearts-esque garbage into the universe right in the final moments. Such a damn shame. I just cannot fathom why Square would allow this. Fair enough they wanted to make it fresh but the ending itself literally makes the events of the game pointless, classic Rian Johnson-type subversion. Make the player think it's following the same story, with little extras that don't impact too much, but oh wait it seems these little extras are trying to stop the original story from being changed.. last scene.. oh.

    It's almost as if the 'Plot Armor Ghosts' are Squares representation of all the hardcore purists that wanted what they were made to believe they were getting. A massive slap in the face.

    The game itself is a marvelous technical achievement, the amount of detail in Midgar is staggering. I wouldn't call it an amazing RPG in terms of things to do, but at least they respected the source material right until it starts to unravel. My main criticisms with the game are that the camera can be awful at times, especially when using lock on. The combat is great unless you're in a tight space. There are very few combinations of gear/materia that are actually worth using in the endgame. Some of the backdrops in the latter 3rd of the game are very low quality, almost like awful Jpeg's. Some areas of the game take too long and can become a bit tedious.

    I was ready to give this game a 9/10, even with the issues it has, until I saw the ending. I am afraid but also a bit excited of what this all represents for the future installments in this 'remake'.

    If you read this far without voting down, congrats. This wasn't what I was expecting, and after a couple of days of processing what I've seen, I am quietly excited about what it means for the future. I am sad that the story of FFVII may not be retold exactly, but at least we always have the old game to play if we want to. The only thing I ask, is that Nomura doesn't go too far with his changes. This game, understanding it as an modern JRPG, it can´t possibly be rated less than with 8 points. Range between 8 and 10 is a matter of taste.     --Story: 9 points - Core story of the original game is there, and is amazing. This remake takes that, and expand it with good script, character development and stunning cutscenes. Sometimes extra added story is overextended and slow, but doesnt change the general quality. Changes from the original don't change the real essence of FF7, and for the re-players like me, its fresh and exciting to see whats next.
    --Graphics: 9 points - Despite some textures problems, and a bit too long loading times, its the peak of this generation in terms of graphics. Version for next generation/PC will solve those minor problems.
    --Music: 10 points - This game has the best arranged OST ever in a videogame. Period. Original tracks of Uematsu are brilliant and they made them fit perfectly in the scene. Most of new themes are not as good as the originals, but fit quite nicely.
    --Gameplay: 9 points - Combat is exquisite, challenging at times, addictive, exciting. Best fusion of classic turns and action.Good weapon development and materia system. Many extra thing to complete but without being overwhelming.

    Doesn't matter if you played the original or not, if you like JRPG or not. Play it. Its a MUST.    … Expand

    First of all, voice acting is next level in this game, especially for female characters. Both Aerith and Tifa were amazing characters and i'm pretty sure voice acting helped a lot.     Every thing is good, from the combat system to storyline. Make you feel like watching a movie and having power to actually intervene with the plot. The only let-down is that the game still bears the love traditional of the FF franchise: the main character is never granted the love he/she deserve at the end.

    I had times where i loved this game, and times where i got so bored i wanted to drop the game but then it got good again and i kept interest. However this game was pretty poorly optimized, and i kinda didnt finish because of that, which is sad. Still played 80% of it maybe im gonna give it another try sometimes, even tho its unlikely cuz some of the sidequests were so boring i dont want toI had times where i loved this game, and times where i got so bored i wanted to drop the game but then it got good again and i kept interest. The new renditions of the characters, expanded story/lore, action combat (with a hint of turn-based commands), amazing visuals/animation and sound make this game almost perfect. One thing to keep in mind, this is not a typical 1:1 remake. FFVIIR is basically its own standalone game and feels complete with theFinal Fantasy VIIR is awesome, and a great companion piece to the OG PSX game.     Great combat and story, and also a fun hard mode to play through. Played this as one of my first FF games, and I was not disappointed. Overall a great experience, cannot wait for part 2 (Rebirth)!

    Better than Final Fantasy 16. It takes the best of what made the series great and modernizing it. Sure, the story changes aren't going to appeal to everyone, but this is a true masterpiece. can't wait for Rebirth.

    For a PS4, Square R managed to make one of the best playing, best looking games ever in my opinion. I'm still surprised how this game runs on the base PS4. Sacrifices had to be made, but it doesn't deter from the experience and I can't recommend it enough.

After having the experience with Final Fantasy 16 in 2023 I think this review still holds up as a 9 for this game really the only bummer I had with this is the side quests being rather boring. This is interesting but I felt like 16 should have followed this rather than making devil may fantasy… Expand

    It was an amazing experience and really great to flesh out the story of one of the best games in history. A real re-imagining of Final Fantasy 7

    I must say, the game started really great as they follow the same journey as I remember in my childhood. The character's build-up is better than the original version. Tifa and Aerith have some amazing and deep moments, as I have grown to know more about them.

    The combat system, on the other hand, has some pros and cons. Although I really enjoy the new combat system, the lack of a co-op    I must say, the game started really great as they follow the same journey as I remember in my childhood.     The combat system, on the other hand, has some pros and cons. Although I really enjoy the new combat system, the lack of a co-op party and slow-motion fight really felt slow. Also, some technical issues still make me uncomfortable.

    The ATB combat system really good
    The story is told differently with the focus on side characters that we didn't see much in the OG.
    Though I didn't like the Whisperer par, I'm not really fun of a story that is led by destiny.

    A pesar de no seguir las líneas de la saga FFVII REMAKE es un juego de acción muy divertido. Gráficamente es impresionante y la recreación de los modelos muy fieles a los originales y realmente sientes que estas andando por Midgar. Entiendo que en cuanto historia halla disidentes me parece una decisión acertada crear algo nuevo. En cuanto a lo negativo realmente algunos enemigos seA pesar de no seguir las líneas de la saga FFVII REMAKE es un juego de acción muy divertido. Gráficamente es impresionante y la recreación de los modelos muy fieles a los originales y realmente sientes que estas andando por Midgar. Entiendo que en cuanto historia halla disidentes me parece una decisión acertada crear algo nuevo. En cuanto a lo negativo realmente algunos enemigos se sienten como esponjas o los combates se sienten caóticos, en cambio los 1vs1 como el que tenemos contra Rufus se hace muy divertido.… Expand

    objectively an 8 or 9, but i enjoyed it like a 10. there's pretty blatant padding to make up for the fact they needed to release 3 parts, and some of tifa's anime posing is truly cringe inducing. it's also falsely advertised as a remake when it's really a reboot/sequel

    Final Fantasy VII Remake is the game we've been waiting for from Square Enix for so long. Atmospheric, interesting and exciting all your attention modern jRPG with an interesting story and spectacular battles. To achieve the ideal, the project only needs more even graphics and all the content from the original release. If you were waiting for a turn-based classic with new graphics you will most likely be disappointed, since the game has changed a lot. Everyone else is happy with the release of the first really powerful single-player release from the internal Square Enix studio for many years. Especially after the failure of Final Fantasy XV.

    What matters is still intact, and that’s the heart and soul of one of the greatest stories in video game history. It’s a return to form that has felt a long time in coming, and what’s even better is that there’s still at least two more games of this quality to come...They can’t mess this up, can they?
