Gameplay though still needs plenty of work players sadly do not feel that different from each other weather you are Messi, Ronaldo, Kroos or Pogba. also quick pacey players who can leave a lot of defenders for dead feel a little slow they have however improved the tackling mechanic you can no longer just mash the O button and steal the ball easy you do have to work hard and time your tackles every time which is a big improvement.
Graphically it looks good wear on the pitch is a nice touch the new frostbite engine certainly does make this look like the beautiful game except during substitutions players look a little deformed when walking as well as a few animation issues.

Overall i would give this game a 7.8/10 so rounded up to an 8/10 not a pretty good football game but in need of a overhaul i fear the slump Fifa suffered in the early 2000's may rear its ugly head again.

Based on these few days since i bought it, the gameplay seems a bit messy, the cutscenes in the game are kinda messy too (i'm refering to the faults, complaints, cards, players rambling etc) fast paced and slow movements at the same time, some of them do not seem natural at all, i don't know if it's the new engine mode.

The gameplay is fuzzy sometimes, gkeepers look at the ball, while it enters to goal, they just stand there watching it.. sometimes, it feels like it's not responsive in every way. It may be me, or still i need to get used to it. The interface, it's the same as Fifa16, which is.. i don't know.. a diferent interactive UI based menu would be nice.. but i don't know.. maybe it can't be more interactive than the previous one, i can't say because i'm not a designer.

But it's a very good game though, some good improvements as players motion in the field with or w/out the ball in beetween many things that improved too, awesome graphics and very good sound effects in field.. but still alot of work to do (patches and updates).. and please.. fix Renato Sanches face.. is it about licensing? If not.. c'mon..

Anyone saying the game feels scripted and it isnt your fault if you lose... it is. The game is made to change your style of play against different teams. As someone who only plays on Legendary or Ultimate mode, you really have to change tactics before or during some games. You also have to create space through passing.
    Happy overall.

FIFA is back with another year for more football (soccer), but this time it has been powered by the Frostbite engine. Does this make a difference to the game and does the all new journey mode hold its ground in the FIFA franchise? Let’s find out.
FIFA has risen to the surface again, with an all-new look and new mode. This year's installment of the franchise has been designed with the Frostbite engine to allow for the story-driven journey mode. You play as Alex Hunter, a little kid playing pick-up games in a Sunday league in London, England. Time skips forward seven years, to when you are about to try out for one of the twenty premier league teams.
Once you get a grade high enough to make the team you choose which team you want to be a part of. You start off as a substitute; before each game you do some training and depending on how you perform that can determine if you are going to be starting or sitting on the bench. As you play through a few games you get bumped down into another league. Doing well in the lower league will get you called back up to the premier league. Throughout the journey, the way you respond to people can have an effect on you: if you answer a question with a cocky attitude, your followers will go up but the relationship with your manager will go down, if you answer a question cool the manager relationship will go up but the followers will go down. The way you respond to your team mates can also affect your relationship with them off and on the field. Through the course of your journey, you will see your stats increase and sponsorship deals come in as you reach a certain amount of social media followers.
All the modes from previous installments of FIFA are there, from season mode all the way to ultimate team. FIFA has done a lot of things right in this year's installment compared to last year’s, however, the game does still struggle with some mechanics. Passing is one of them; while I am on the pitch and I want to pass it to another player it will go to another teammate that I had no intention of passing it to. As well, during a penalty kick I could not switch my keeper to automatic control, which became very frustrating.
FIFA 17 delivers exactly what I needed and wanted in a soccer game, a lot of changes for the good, an all-new story driven mode showing the ups and downs of a professional athlete, Ultimate team mode where you can build your all-star team of current players and legends from Reus to Beckham, and play through the divisions. If you are football fan then FIFA 17 is the definitely the title you want to pick up.

The overall pace, good. Playing against AI, you will notice the game is focused on attack rather than defence, if you set the difficulty too high, it can be impossible to take the ball from the AI. Through ball can be very effective, often result in a completely shattered defence.

They journey mode is also a thumb up.

The singleplayer has seen some improvements, but is still rather lackluster for a game in this day and age. The career mode AI makes either very weird or very scripted decisions. At times you still arbitrarily lose games where the AI concedes about 20 shots but still manages to keep a clean sheet and score with their only shot from 45 yards out. The Journey is alright, but it's very scripted and repetitive, making it a one time experience with no replayability. All in all, for a game that is so very focused on multiplayer, for a game that is trying to have a competitive scene, it does really poorly on the multiplayer front. The rather archaic singleplayer cant really save the day for FIFA 17. We can only hope EA realizes the many flaws this game has, and learns for them regarding FIFA 18. Expand

This was a huge step forward from the dreadful FIFA 16, it isn't brilliant to say the least I have recently gone back and played older FIFA's and even though the graphics are nowhere near as good they are just better games. A completely different mode based around the rise of a young football player transitioning from a kid that kicks ball to a sports superstar. I am quite impressed by what EA delivered here, never thought they would put this much effort into it but they did and it has paid off in many aspects. Next time, they should make statistic tables available so we can see how well the protagonist is playing compared to the rest of the players in the league. Is he top scorer, is he topping the assists table, how many yellow cards has he received etc. Not being able to see Match Facts after a game is completed is nothing but an immature error on EA's part. They should also give the user the option to continue beyond the first season, minus the cut scenes. It feels like all the training is a bit of a waste. Having predetermined attributes like having low FK accuracy regardless of what position you play is also a far-sighted move. Not all strikers in real life are terrible at free kicks. I think a player type on top of being able to choose what position would have sufficed, like a shooter who's shooting stats are better than normal, a target man who's physical and heading stats are better than normal, or a player maker with good passing and vision stats etc. There's already more depth looking at it like this, which would no doubt improve the game mode. I also think the interview triggers and social media reactions need a lot of work, I could score two goals and bag an assist in one game and then the interviewer tells me I got one goal and an assist. If I bag a hat-trick, the reactions on social media are either non-existent or "a goal from" you, "what a player". Significant events that go beyond a goal or an assist such as winning the league or breaking other records aren't highlighted at all by social media. This is extremely unrealistic and requires a lot of tweaking to reflect reality better.

Elsewhere, they announced they were making changes to Career Mode. Having played it, it quite clearly is barely any different from before. No real improvements to be seen here unlike how they portrayed it before the game release. They need to revamp it with some features reminiscent of the older FIFAs, namely FIFA 10 with the ticket pricing and stadium building etc. It's been the same for ages.

In terms of FUT, the new Squad Builder Challenge mode is an excellent addition to the game, as it means that leftover players who otherwise have no use for gameplay can still be used to trade in for the chance (or guaranteed depending on the description of each of these challenges) to obtain better players who are more useful. It also greatly affects the market to a surprisingly large degree, which is always a good thing as it keeps me more on my toes and make the overall experience more challenging, more competitive but ultimately more rewarding.

Gameplay wise, mostly some slight improvements. Moving mechanics are mostly more fluid, FK's can now be adjustable to make them more versatile and ultimately more experimental, although clunky at the moment I'm sure this will improve in the future. Shooting is pretty much the most improved feature in this game, there are so many ways and techniques to shoot the ball and I'd say it's the best feature of the game. There is a lot to be enjoyed with shooting in this FIFA particularly. However, there is without a doubt a button lag problem where your player doesn't respond quick enough when I press the most important buttons in pass, move and shoot. I understand that this is a meant to be a stroke of realism as no one reacts to balls or situations instantly but the amount of time it takes for basic functions to be completed is utterly ridiculous sometimes. First time shooting for instance is awful in this game. Fouls are also the worst they've ever been, they allow defenders to shove attacking opposition off the ball despite not getting the ball at all while doing so and allowing their teammates to pick up the ball. There is a difference between shielding the ball - which is legal - and shoving the opponent off completely while they're running or dribbling. EA clearly haven't got the distinction right here. Through balls are also dodgy at times when my players ignore great balls at times. It's way too easy to overshoot them too.

Arena is also completely broken now. I cannot choose players outside the starting XI for any club to perhaps test them out for the Player Pro Career mode. They've removed Set Piece training and Practice Matches. Free kicks within the arena are also completely broken, you cannot move the player normally to aim at all.

Other than that, it is a decent to good game. As always with games like FIFA, they can be really frustrating at times but I feel that EA have done a decent job on the game as a whole.

The story mode (this year’s biggest selling point) is not perfect, but I was surprised how much I was invested in this idealized adventure every little boy dreams of while playing football with his pals. None other mode in FIFA or PES provides such experience. In all other departments – licenses, visuals, sound, atmosphere – the new FIFA is as strong as ever. [12/2016, p.67]
