    I really like interactive stories and FMV games so i was fully expecting to love this game. Unfortunately however, that didn't end up happening.

    First of all, the controls are absolutely horrendous. I cannot overstate just how much i hate the controls. For some reason they decided they didn't like any of the buttons on the PS4 controller so the entire game is controlled with either the touchpad or a phone. I don't see why, because playing the game with buttons instead of weird swipes and dragging a cursor around would have made the game exponentially better.

    The controls being so incredibly bad is the main reason I have given the game this score, but apart from that the game doesn't exactly set the world on fire. the plot, acting and characters are all incredibly mediocre. There are some good plot elements but they are drowned out by the rest of the game. If i had to score the game without taking the controls into account i would probably give it a 6 or 7, but since the controls are incredibly important in any interactive media, and because i have literally been led to the wrong ending multiple times because of the controls, I feel the game warrants a 2.

    Unless this game receives some sort of update that enables you to use the controller or something, you should avoid this game at all costs. If you are really interested in the story I recommend watching a youtube video of the game instead of putting yourself through this mess because there isn't really that much interactivity in the first place.    … Expand

    I've played the story 6 times and spent in total around 13 hourswith the game.

Typically these FMV games have low quality visuals, but you can tell this got a decent budget from PlayStation and it stands out compared to other FMVs.     First, let's start with the positives. The lighting, sound and quality of the actual filiming is quite good. Typically these FMV games have low quality visuals, but you can tell this got a decent budget from PlayStation and it stands out compared to other FMVs. The story on the first playthrough also seems quite interesting. But that's really where the positives end.

    Now the negatives, of which there are a lot. First of all, the controls are absolutely horrible. I'm not sure who's wonderful idea it was to create a phone app as one of the two ways to contol the game,but it was a silly idea. Why would I even consider downloading an app on my phone that wastes storage for a game that I'm only going to play a few times? The only other option is using the DS4 Touchpad. Even this is horrible and not very accurate. Next, there is absolutely no chapter select, or a list of all endings that you've currently unlocked (by example, such things are available in Late Shift). This makes it incredible tedious to replay the game and track the endings you have unlocked and how many there are in total. Also, if you feel you messed up, you can't just quit the game and restart the checkpoint - if you wanted to restart then you would need to start from scratch. The quality of acting across the board is pretty mixed. Some characters are ridiculously bad while others demonstrate some quality, however nobody is exactly amazing. Makes sense considering having A list stars wouild make this game more expensive. The game also used up 40GB of storage which is shocking. Finally, replaying the game provides no real incentive as most decisions and dialogue options are absolutely meaningless.

    TL;DR: I wouldn't recommend buying this game. Maybe on sale if it's about £3. I spent £5 and I regret it.    … Expand

The movie basically just pauses until you do it, so if you need to open a door the movie just pauses while looking at the door until you drag your finger down the screen to open it. These elements are mostly just a nuisance with on-screen prompts that leave you wondering what's the point.

    Other interactive elements do give you some choices, but you never feel that the choices you make really change the action very much. I only played this through once and I read afterwards that there are 7 different endings but I couldn't think how I would have expected it (or wanted it) to end any better or worse than it did the first time.

    The story was 'ok' if a bit predictable and the actors didn't do a terrible job (some better than others), but that wasn't enough to rescue the disappointing interactive aspect which should really have been the main focus of the production.    … Expand

    The whole setting is not new. For the the players who like the mental hospitals theme and near occultism stuff it will be great, but for others - just normal.

    Story driven, with a strong narrative and a very interesting plot. Good actors and you really feel like your decisions affect the story a lot. Amazing game

    It was definitely worth the time and money. I was interested in the story and performances. The main actress was great. Hope they make more of these and evolve the genre further.This is definitely something different.

    For this game to truly open up, multiple playthroughs is needed. At 90 minutes long, doing the opposite choices on my second playthrough was very rewarding and loved how much changed leading up to the end of that playthrough. The 3 supporting characters, Hannah, Tobi and Kirstie all have their own branching paths that uncovers new secrets in each of their respective playthrough. TheFor this game to truly open up, multiple playthroughs is needed. At 90 minutes long, doing the opposite choices on my second playthrough was very rewarding and loved how much changed leading up to the end of that playthrough. The 3 supporting characters, Hannah, Tobi and Kirstie all have their own branching paths that uncovers new secrets in each of their respective playthrough. The touchpad is the only button you'll use through the story. If you're chasing Trophies you'll be in for a treat, as going after all of them reveals so much more to the story. For $10 you can't go wrong, play it with a friend or significant other and you'll have a good time, debating what choices to make.… Expand

    Erica is great. I love how Sony and Flavorwork took a different approach to a story choices game to a live thriller game. Overall I love how the story makes it feel like realistic mixed with consequences that impact your decisions.

    The original prototype and tech were made in 2015! Finally got to enjoy several playthroughs. Seamless interactions, great cinematography on a low budget. Makes for an entertaining time with non gamers too.

    La historia me parecio muy interesante, me da ganas de rejugarlo para ver todo el transfondo argumental, como interactivo me parece bastante bien me recordo mucho a Heavy rain en ciertos momentos . lo unico que medio fallo, es el uso del joystick, hubo ciertos bugs, pero usando la app funciona bien.

    It lasts only two hours, you can do only few things, not even one puzzle to solve, the plot was very simple and didn't feel realistic at all. Didn't enjoy this game and do not recommend to anyone.

    This was free on the PSN so I thought I would try it out. Unfortunately for the first time ever I'm going to issue a zero score for a game on the basis that the controls for this are utterly terrible, to the point I had to give up after 5 minutes with the game being almost unplayable for me on a PS4 controller.

MC has the depth of a fish out of water, it's not cute or endearing. There was some cool visual stuff done but hardly worth the slog. For the money spent I could have got the full movie experience and would have been better for it.     Nor a good game or a movie. 2-3 times is enought to understand ALL that is happening (only one true ending, others are nonsense, but there are holes in this one too, like everyting in the plot is undone). Controls are disgustive. ”Easy” platinum also is boring AF, no chapter select or anything, such game desing, eh.

    Innovative Interactive Movie. Unfortunately had it often a lack of logical connections and less really choice making situations. A lot of choices seem to have same consequences. Filming has high quality, writing meets often the own expections. Character development is low and at the end there stay a lot of unanswered questions. But thanks Sony for this entertainment.     A game for only 10 €? You can not really do much wrong.
    I thought so and was not disappointed. It's keeping me entertained. I only bother that you have to play at least three times. Unfortunately, you can not transcribe the cut-scenes.

    Fun little game for $9.99. Interactive movie game on the PS4. Even on a standard PS4 and 1080P Plasma TV it looks fantastic. Game is roughly 2 hours, but multiple endings with the decisions you make. I will make this my 105th Platinum trophy.

    With the exception of some tedious gamification (manually opening doors and flipping pages), Erica is a perfect FMV game with an excellent story, likable characters, intense sequences, and difficult decisions.

    I am in love with this game. Finally someone who does interactive and immersive gaming right. You will have to play multiple times to understand the story fully, but you will not be disappointed if you only get to play it once either. Overall a great game and for the price anyway. I have spent far more on terrible films in the cinema than Erica.

    Loved it, it's a fantastic piece of interactive storytelling in which your choices shape the story. It's one of the best of its genre that I've played, and certainly the best live action one. The setting, actors and interactions are all very believable, and gameplay via the companion app on the phone works flawlessly. I actually played it through twice in one setting.     Competent but unremarkable interactive thriller with gimmicky controls. If you can't be bothered to install the mobile app and pair your phone with your console, the game has you use the trackpad for basically everything instead of a more conventional - and, frankly, more immersive - mapping, like e.g. in David Cage's games

    Have you ever wanted a playable version of a boring, uninspired movie? Based on the box art for Erica, I thought it would be like Life Is Strange. I expected Erica to make moral choices that would affect the story and hit me right in the feels.     The mechanics of Erica are fine. I used the iOS app to control the choices in the game. The little actions like opening a box or turning a key are done well and remind me of both Heavy Rain and puzzle games like The Room. Sony has a nice framework for making good interactive movies.

    My problem with Erica are the boring movie and the lackluster manner in which the player changes the story. The characters all flat, including Erica herself. Its as if someone told the actors that the project was a video game and their performances did not matter. This game is in stark contrast to the lively portrayals in Bandersnatch. The actress who players Erica is well enough, but she is given the least dialogue of any character. The casting was also suspect, as Erica looks about 3 feet tall next to all the other actors.

    The interactive story elements all lead to the same conclusion. Erica only becomes an active part of the story at the end. This makes nearly all the player choices are immaterial. It also means that there is little reason to suffer through the game more than once, not even for a platinum trophy. Most all interactive games suffer from this problem. The difference with Erica is that there are no meaningful small decisions to be made through the beginning and middle of the game. Erica cannot save anyone or push the story along in any way. The player has no choice but to go through the motions and listen to sad music written by Austin Wintry.

    If I were to imagine a better game, I would base it off a story that is driven by the protagonist. I imagine the awesomeness of an interactive game where the protagonist has a goal and the player can help or hinder the protagonist through moral decisions from start to finish. Imagine if something like Breaking Bad were an interactive movie/game. Such a game could have wildly different endings and all of them would be real to the player because the player made them happen. This is why Erica is so disappointing. Maybe the moral of this game's story is that if you are going to make an interactive game/movie, choose to be ambitious.

    Full disclosure: Erica was a "free" game from PlayStation Plus. I had nothing invested in the game except my precious time.    … Expand

    gameplay ise you have the choice of controller or via app with your smart phone, the latter I found to be the best way to play, youre not simply just choosing things like dialog or which door to go through, but youre also interacting with certain items in the world itself such as wiping the fog from a mirror or window, I was overall a bit disappointed in a lack of choices feeling like they really mattered, don’t get me wrong there are a few different paths to go down, but the story for me wasn’t engaging enough for me to see this game through to its end more than twice, I rarely had that moment like a good telltale game where I made a choice and immediately regretted it or kept me up at night wondering if I did this differently how things might have turned out..
    that being said Ericka did eventually get its hooks in me, I was intrigued wanting to see how everything played out, but I just feel the overall package is a bit lackluster,
    the experience was so close to being good at times, but I was just never blown away and nothing happened to call for discussion outside of the experience, which again I feel something like this just needs.
    Howver my girlfriend, someone not really a gamer loved it much more than I did, she was more immersed than I was, she was more paranoid and more skeptical of everyone in this story, so in that case Erica did it jobs perfectly.
    While this story may not hit home for everyone, its potential to makes this game worth at least giving a shot to

In my case, the game finished so abruptly. Really didn’t expect that even though the rest of the game’s quality says a lot.

    I encourage developers to try creating more games like these, obviously such as the very good ones Quantic Dream has released, but this one just wasn’t it.    … Expand

Por eu ser um fã de jogos de escolhas como os jogos do David Cage, achei a ideia bem interessante em colocar uma personagem que esta passando por problemas desde a morte do Pai descobrir de fato o que ocasionou a sua morte e o porque de todos os acontecimentos dentro da Casa Delfos estarem conectados com a série de assassinatos.

There are 5 endings in the game, only the first 3 are of interest. The main 2 is "player torture" to receive a platinum trophy.     The plot didn't engage me as much because it focused extensively on the interpretive and dream-like aspects of the narrative. While I appreciate the wide range of story paths available, I question the necessity of this genre when the industry has already proven that immersive storytelling can be achieved through gameplay-focused games, which this game falls short of providing.

    Loved it, it's a good interactive story game.
    Unfortunately the controls are whack, thanks god there is the phone app that is somehow decent and better than the controller itself.

Except the one who had a gun (no spoilers). The fact I could go in full on (optional) murder mode was cool. Nope they didn't wimp out on this one for sure. The ending was a bit anti-climatic.     Got this game from PS Plus. Was interested in it before as I enjoy interative stories. Biggest issue with this gans is the controls. I can get over using the touchpad even though its not the nost precise thing in the world, it gets the job done. This might seem like an issue but the touchpad has an incredibly small surface area. Meaning youre going to be adjusting your fingers sometimes. And since it only takes you releasing the touchpad it can force you to make decisions you didnt want to make. This is less of an issue on a phone since most screens are over 5 inches now. But just getting your phone ready for this gane can be a hasle anyway so its hardly ideal. The story is also unnecessarily convoluted and poorly paced. This lady claims she wants to help you even though she traumatized you for life. I'd go further into how this story makes very little sense but i'd be here all day.
    Overall, this game is okay. Being as i got it for free theres not much to complain about. Theres also many diffrrent endings and outcomes to decisions judging by the trophy list. I dont know why anyone would want to actuallg play the game to see them through but they are there.    … Expand

    These is only one thing I don't like it this game - it's ending. It's sort of rough and not self-explanatory. Event after watching all possible ending in youtube I'm not sure how the scenario works. In such a genre as interactive movie I think scenario should be better. It's not bad but could be better. But in any case game is short - about 2 hours so it totally worths to go through it.

    The story is weak, cliché and contrived. Erica just walks around, getting led on by everyone and is just a pathetic character. I can't count how many times I just wanted her to elbow someone in the face, or just start yelling at the forgettable extra's.

    And then there's the cleaning sections... Forcing you to clean every miniscule inch of the screen before this **** continues playing again. Had the game offered me a way to just burn everything down it could have been enjoyable. Luckily, it does! Shooting people and burning the place down felt very satisfying.

    This game feels lazy to me. Sony should be publishing actual video games, not half baked movies. It was rather underwhelming, i give this 'game' a 5/10. At least it was better than Destiny 2.    … Expand

En cuanto a la trama, llega a atraparte y todo lo demás, pero si no haces todos los finales quedan muchas cosas inconclusas, cosa que termina combinando con el punto negativo anteriormente expuesto de que el juego no lleva un registro de los finales y tampoco hay selección de capitulo, algún modo estilo galería que puedas ver escenas del juego libremente (como Night Trap remastered), etc. Tiene muy poco contenido y no invita a rejugarlo. The whole "no one path shows all the answers" idea is absolute crap - while I was trying to platinum this garbage game (never would have played it if it wasn't free), on my 3rd playthrough I realized that around 80% of the game is always the same and the different outcomes are so meaningless, that platinum trophy aside, you should never force yourself to play this thing more than once... or at all. Hard pass and if anyone tells you this is an easy platinum don't believe them, around the 4th playthrough I started feeling a physical level of disgust from just playing the game...and it takes around 6 playthroughs to plat. Hard pass!

    P.S.: Dear PS+, you owe all of your subscribers a free game just for including this **** as a "bonus". Pathetic...    … Expand

    Eu realmente queria gostar de Erica, a história até é legalzinha mas os controles são tão ruins que eu nem consegui aproveitar direito, só entendi como se usava aquilo direito no final do jogo. Eu entendo a tentativa e admito que foi interessante, mas no fim não deu certo.

    The draw towards Erica is it's "gameplay" in the sense that its more of an interactive movie. I found it quite nice to sit back with the companion app on my phone and perform on screen commands while watching the story unfold. Definitely use your phone over the PS4 controller for this game. The game makes decisions for you if you don't decide on a moment's notice and if you don't like the decision it made for you then you're SOL. It automatically saves anyways and you'll have to start all the way over. Couple that with the swipes sometimesGarbage. Wouldn't work on my ps4 without the app no matter what controller I tried so I had to use my ps5 (the app has connection issues).     Dopo aver scoperto il genere con Late Shift l'ho acquistato senza esitazioni dato anche il doppiaggio in Italiano e non i soliti sottotitoli. Film interattivo molto curato che vale ogni euro del basso prezzo di listino, costa meno che vedere una sola volta un film al cinema e con la differenza che gli eventi dipenderanno dalle nostre scelte

    O jogo possui uma história bacana e personagens bem intrigantes, me amarrei nisso, porém acho que seria melhor se fosse feito em gráficos de jogo com uma produção no estilo ''Quantic Dream'' do que gravado na vida real.

    This was free PS+ "game". Erica is an interactive movie, there's no game here. The story was alright if somewhat jumpy. Watched it once, not sure if I'll try to get the other endings at some point.

    Erica is an intriguing attempt at a unique interactive live action game. However the bizarre controls on the touchpad and the husk of a narrative leave the game with little appeal. It might have made for a semi decent thriller movie if the script was tighter, but as a game, it doesn't work half as well.

    Erica tries to innovate with a new way of playing through the mobile app, but she doesn't shy away from other games that we already have in the market for a while, with normal production, not exceptional history, performances that can leave something to be desired, but she can leave you interested enough to want to see its completion, and play a few more times to discover other possible endings.

    Erica puts you in the shoes of Erica, a young girl who is plagued by the kiler of her father who was murdered when she was a child.     Erica puts you in the shoes of Erica, a young girl who is plagued by the kiler of her father who was murdered when she was a child. This leads you to a mental facility called Delphi House which was created by Erica's father and his friend. The story is executed in a brilliant way that keeps you guessing at every turn. Acting is done very well by a relatively young and unknown cast. Dialogue flows well considering you're in control of what Erica says or does in certain situations and your choices will affect the outcome of the story in a meaningful way

    Which brings me onto my next point, the gameplay. Erica's narrative and characters are definitely it's strong suit. You control the game using the touch-pad on your PS4 controller or an app on your phone. My making simple motions on the touchscreen you can select different options or do various actions. In theory this sounds great but more often than not it does not work well which makes the actions you perform and the actions you see on screen feel disconnected. After a while the actions become stale, assuming they even work at all. On top of that the choices are sometimes worded quite poorly which makes choosing even harder. There were quite a few times where I chose an option I thought I agreed with but then regretted immediately because it was not as it was 'described'.

    The music is incredible and really elevates some scenes to the next level. There is music for emotional scenes which really make you feel the situations Erica is going through. There is music for tense parts which really get you on edge. Overall, for such a small studio, the quality of the product is incredible.

    All that being said, this game shines in its narrative and music but falls flat in terms of gameplay. The fact your choices affect the outcome of the story in a meaningful way is really cool but I can't help but feel like this story was a better fit for an actual movie or TV Show due to the lack of fun and engaging gameplay.    … Expand

In other interactive games that I've played I always wondered "what would happen if I do something else", but in this game, I don't have that feeling. It's not a nad game but it could be bette.

    The production values place Erica in good company as an FMV psychological thriller, but with a near total absence of gameplay and a plot that struggles to consistently thrill, what’s left is an underwhelming choose-your-own-adventure tale that leaves a poor lingering impression.

    Erica is a weird mixture of inconsistent but mostly quality writing, with astounding visuals and soundtrack. It poses as a truly interesting experience and even though with its flaws it is a step in the right direction for FMV games.
