I received my copy yesterday. The steelbook its a thing of beauty. First the facts, then my opinion.

If you already played the game and are expecting new content you will be disappointed. The differences are a graphic improvement for 4k (also noticeable in full HD), a new soundtrack with live orchestra (you can pick the original too), the option to pick English/Japanese language voices, it
Includes all the DLC (it was just the narration of the game with the voices of every character) and pretty much that's it. The PS4 also features cross play with PS3 and PS Vita and cloud upload/download, so you can continue your progress between anyone of the 3 platforms.

Now my impressions, it has been a long time since I played the game and to be honest I forgot how good it is. It is an old school beat-em-up but it is way more than a button smasher. You can play as any of 6 heroes, each of them represents a class from the old school RPG's: Fighter, Dwarf, Amazon, Elf (Archer), Sorceress and Wizard. Each class has two different skill trees, one they share in common (HP, some moves like slide, etc) and another unique skill tree for each particular class. Another very important thing, depending of your weapon you have different moves, if you are playing a wizard the fire rod has different attacks than the ice or the lightning rod, and enemies have specific weakness, so this also add some variety.

The game has 9 stages and each stage has two paths, depending the path you will fight a specific boss and most of the grinding in this game is around those 9 (or 18) stages, There are some special quests that requires to kill a certain number of enemies or do something very specific in one of the stages, so there are plenty of reasons to come back to those stages.

The game is all about grinding, you will need to upgrade your character around level 30 to get the character specific ending, but after this the game escalates to Hard difficulty and the bosses change from level 18-30 to level 30-60. When you complete the game again in Hard you unlock Infernal difficulty, and the bosses change from level 60 to level 100.

There are also a few other "modes", there is a fight with the ancient dragon outside the 9 stages and when you beat the dragon you unlock the Labyrinth of Chaos, this mode is basically a random dungeon generator. When you beat the ancient dragon in normal you get access to floors 1-3, when you beat the ancient dragon in hard you get access to floors 4-6, and when you beat Infernal Ancient Dragon, you get access to floors 7-99. For those looking for a challenge when you complete the Labyrinth of chaos on Infernal you unlock the Tower of Mirage, where enemies can be level 255, but your cap is level 99, so yeah, it gets pretty rough.

As you can see there are plenty of stuff in here. I have 70 hours logged, a level 88 Amazon, and the rest of my characters are level 28-35. There is plenty of people playing online, and if you activate online mode you will be paired with them randomly, or join a specific friend. If you are not into MP you can also play solo or pick 3 companions controlled by the AI (and if they are of upper levels they can get the job done and carry you).

The game looks beautiful, the graphics are hand drawed, with vibrant colors and pretty cool animations. Some people feel uncomfortable with the character design, specially because of the exaggeration of the proportions of the amazon and the sorceress (the males are as much ridiculous and exaggerated, but that doesn't seem to bother them). Personally I love the art style. It has addicting gameplay, a good challenge and there are plenty of hours to get from here.

Based on the fun I have I give it a 9/10 (it could use more stages).

A fantastic D&D inspired adventure. The hand drawn graphics are gorgeous in 4k, and the entire game feels lovingly crafted. The story is relatively short, however the post game loot grind is the best experience the game has to offer. If you miss the 2d beat-em-up RPG brawlers of days past, this is a must buy!

For those who miss old school couch beat em up games, this is for sure your choice.
Gorgeous designs for characters, great music, bad ass bosses and simple gameplay. Story is not big deal, but it is not important in a 2d beat em up game. You just need cool maps and to kill a boss at the end of it.

This game is a jewel, specially phisical day one edition. I'm happy with my purchase.

Still a brilliant Coop-Game, i highly recommend it,at least for fans of the genre, and everyone who misses more Coop-Games. Only downside would be that there are not that many maps. You basically have to run trough a lot of them too often. The gameplay is great, so it isnt that much of a problem, but there could have been more. These few are beautiful thou, everything handdrawn.

Still the same great experience with remastered visuals and music. However for a $50 price tag, I would have expected the now 3+ year old title would have gotten at least ONE new map or character to freshen it up for returning players. The cast of characters are varied and play differently too, which is good since it gives an incentive to play it again. It can be tough and very challenging, but the grind it's actually fun, so eventually you overcome that stage/boss which, at first, seemed too hard.

Awesome, awesome game. A little pricey, though... I think 50 bucks is a bit high for a remaster. In my opinion, 29 dollars would be ideal. But the PS4 needs this kind of game and ATLUS does give a super polished product. It's worth the investment; there are hours and hours of fun to invest here.

Beautiful art, fun game-play both as single player and with friends. I agree with people saying that maybe the game could have more levels, but still this game is very re-playable thanks to a very smart stacking system that offers you bonuses the longer you stay out on adventure. If you like action/arcade RPG this is a solid buy.

and im happy to say the game is more than its giant boobs
Im a very aggressive player in most anything I play as, so I played as the brute tank knight character, all about close ranged combat and defense…
theres a town area which is a bit of a hub, here you can mess with your part, sell unused items, resurrect new party members, accept quests, and dump skills into your characters skill deck…
the game at first can seem a bit overwhelming, but that’s just because Japanese games tend to over complicate tutorials.. its actually super simple and straight forward…
you enter an area, and you kill all of the things in your way…
you have a thief friend with you that you use your curser using your analog stick to unlock chests and doors.. chests which contain gold and loot, and as you progress them game you’ll run into piles of bones.. these bones can be collected and brought back to town to resurrect a character and add them to your party… a party that can hold up to 4 players, though online isn’t available until deep in the game, so you’re going to be doing this with computer controlled teammates, and at the end of every level there is a boss for you to defeat, then you turn in your progress rinse and repeat…
and at the end you’re rewarded your xp, and you can either take your spoils and get them appraised for some cash revealing their stats or sell them on the spot
cash I found to be plentiful in this game, you’ll mostly be using it just for resurrections and appraising, with the occasional repairing items..
the gameplay itself I found to be pretty easy, no level or boss in the entire game gave me any trouble, but then again I was using a very beginner friendly character…
your teammates though will die usually during boss battles, and you can use coins to revive them if they lose all of their lives to keep them in the fight… these moments though are where I find my biggest issue with this game.. the curser for whatever reason during these moments of trying to revive a fallen part member just doesn’t want to be responsive… so you stop attacking mid boss fight, trying to get the curser over the character you you can press the touch pad to bring them back..
you can imagine how many accidental deaths youll take because of this.. but again I didn’t find the game to be all that difficult… though there is a post game challenge after credits roll where the difficulty ramps up to hard and you have to hunt down even stronger bosses
another issue I had with this game was just keeping track with of my character.. there’s so much going on on screen, I found myself really just button mashing until all of the things were dead, having no idea where I was…
All in all though Dragons Crown is a really great and addictive action rpg…
finding hidden chests and juggling your loot is satisfying.. the art style and character design is great, the deliver of this game and its story is so charming as its told with storybook like narration, as the narrator will voice different characters..
It has slight flaws, but is definitely worth checking out for the rpg fans out there…
    I give Dragons Crown Pro
    an 8/10

The game can also be played single player, and you'll be shocked to see how fun it is then, as you'll find yourself with a good amount more control on the battlefield allowing for more strategic gameplay on your part. Another example of devs slapping a new paint of coat on an old game and then selling it for full price. Everywhere you turn you see rereleases of old games but with nothing new or substantial added. Just a cash grab, meant to get people excited about a game thats already been out 3 years so they can sell it for $60, and it works.

Dragon's Crown Pro makes strides in updating the side-scrolling beat-'em-up genre by incorporating light RPG mechanics well. The overall setting and simplicity of getting into the game are intriguing, but the art style is jarring, and the story paper-thin. While I understand the latter is not the reason to play this type of game, it's frustrating to see and feel how flimsy it comes off. The gameplay is solid, and the innovations are intriguing, but the rest of Dragon's Crown Pro is rather shallow.

I think the largest issue with Pro is its price point. Those who have played Dragon’s Crown in the past will not find anything new here other than it being on a different console. While it’s a solid game through and through, it’s hard to recommend given this game released in 2013 and it’s essentially the exact same title from before.
