    Alright, as a weeb I always wished that a site would release reviews for games that are specifically for fans of the IP. Like, most DBZ games can be a 6 or 7 out of 10 for most gamers but a 9 if you're a huge fan. If you've ever wanted that, here is my review of Kakarot.

    There is no DBZ game like it.     There is no DBZ game like it. The closest relative it has in any series is the Ultimate Ninja Storm games, but it is by no means a clone. There is no versus, no online, this is a straight up JRPG. The story is almost verbatim the anime, but with little extras thrown in for fans who have seen it a thousand times. And like the Storm games, it is great fun to simply watch certain classic scenes recreated with the beautiful unreal engine. When Piccolo destroys the moon, his monologue about turning Gohan into a warrior is given the backdrop of meteors from the moon explosion streaking across the night sky. I got chills.

    The combat is fun and satisfying, there is a learning curve as the controls are similar to Storm but cleverly DBZ-ified. One of my favorite details is the mechanic for menus mid-fight: Whenever you hold L1 for a radial menu of super moves, or R1 for support character actions, the fight enters slow-motion. This creates some cool moments, and is optional in the menu if you want a challenge and faster gameplay.

    The RPG elements fit right in. Flying around and exploring nets you Orbs, which are used to upgrade skills, so you're rewarded for nerding out over the map (which is loaded with content.) Low level enemies fly around and provide random encounters for exp. I got so into the side quests and exploration, I let Raditz lock Gohan in a hot space pod for probably 3 hours. I am only one saga into the game, and I really considered calling out of work today to play it until my eyes bleed. The lack of any modes besides story is the only drawback, but if you have Xenoverse 2 then stfu and play the different modes in that. This game is a straight up single player experience.    … Expand

    So far from what I have played its every DBZ fan's wish for a proper RPG addition to the franchise :) its good and I am having fun with it.

    Love the game, ton of fan service, nails the story, adds some interesting storytelling, makes other stuff make sense. Fun, DBZ game for fans. If you play past the Frieza Arc, things begin to pick up. Most negative reviews seem to be people who only played through the first quarter of the game.

    For me 10.

    Epic fights. Finally first Dragon Ball where you can dodge attacks like in Anime.

    Story great. Side quests sometimes can be a pain in the a** but that is not a bigger issues.
    Animations, Music - everything in Dragon Ball climate!

    Can't wait to play next DLC's!

    The DB games franchise needed something brand new, innovative. So, that's what Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot did. It ain't the best RPG, or the best Sandbox, but the game fulfilled its objectives. I think that Budokai Tenkaichi 3 and DBZ: Kakarot are the 2 best DB games ever made.

    Best DBZ game i ever played, it fixed plot holes and goes deeper into the story than any other dbz game ever has. The controls are simple and fun and a great way to introduce people who are new to the series.

    Personalmente, già solo per la mediocrità di anime game che si trova in giro, merita almeno un 9 ...i difetti li ha ok, ma se lo rapportiamo a tutti gli altri anime game, gli altri possono solo accompagnare . Sono alla saga degli Androidi , e tale fedeltà non l'ho mai riscontrata in nessun anime game (tranne Storm e adesso pure PW4

    This game is basically a childhood dream fulfilled. Free roaming and flying around the world of Dragon Ball with lots of different characters. Combat is fun and flashy, like a better version of Xenoverse. The game looks great and the controls are good. Best Dragon Ball game so far!

    This game is so awesome. As a huge dragonball fan myself I never realize how much I would love a game where I can explore the dragonball universe. its lots of fun for any dragonball fan the nostalgic hits you every time. being able to play the story in this way is something you have to experience. its not a perfect game but its defiantly a must play for any dragonball fan out there.

    The best dragon ball Z game ever made as simple as that. Finally a real single player story driving rpg of DBZ. the cutscenes the gameplay the worlds it so accurate and no it not a button smashing, far from it. You need to be strategic and think before you make a move.

I was so hoping to see an RPG game that is kinda like the anime and not like 99% of the Dragon Ball games we had to play all these years which was just normal Beat em up games like Street Fighter skinned as a DB game and had 0 to do with Dragon Ball the Anime itself.     I was hating all these Dragon Ball games we've been feeding all these years and FINALLY a Dragon Ball RPG game with quests, allot of exploration stuff to do, several character to lvl up, some mini games and much more. A Dragon Ball game where you FINALLY could train that strong that you could one shot most enemy who are much weaker than you just like in the Anime itself so the point of training makes finally a sense.

    A Tip for beginner. When you are 5 lvl above the enemy on the map, you can finish the fight without even starting it by Super Speed flying into them. This method saves you allllllllot of time lvling up your character from the beginning of the game. If you love Dragon Ball then this is in fact a MUST HAVE.    … Expand

    In my live I have played every single dragon Ball game that has ever been released. However, those games are absolutely no match for this incredible work of art. As a fan of dragon Ball I must say I have been blown away by how beautiful the game looks. The open world is massive and rewards you constantly for exploring.     Amazing! This game is so much fun and I love the open world. Graphics are great and it even has some brand new content never before seen. There is so much to do and if you liked the legacy of goku series you will love this game!

    A really gif for all the fans of DB series. Travel for the world of DBZ is awesome, fighting with epic enemies, meet old friends, etc. A good game with a lot of fun.     This is what I've always wanted as a Dragon Ball Z game since the PS2 days back in 02 and 03. It's a super easy game and the RPG elements aren't complicated or deep at all. But I love it nonetheless. Exploring the world of DBZ is fascinating and so friggin cool. I'd highly recommend for any DBZ fan.

    I can't drop my pad since I started this game. Granted it's not visually perfect, but the combat system is so satisfying. Getting to play an open world Dragon Ball game is so amazing. This game is a Dragon Ball encyclopedia, and lets you relive the story.

    Amazing now one of my favorite games I spent 18 hours on the main story and now I will play the side quests. If you like dragon Ball it is the best way to play the story.

    It is a fantastic game. I couldn't stop playing. The Graphics are beautiful the animations are amazing with a few exceptions. The combat system is great the Skill Tree is really good and makes you want to keep playing and unlocking the skills. In general I think it is a good game in every way and i also have a lot of nostalgia for the dragonball universe which is one of the reasons why iIt is a fantastic game. I couldn't stop playing.     Amazing game, made for fans. Great experience reviving the complete dbz, with all histories included, the sayans, Freeza, Cell and Majin Boo. The battles are fun and the cinematics exciting. There are a few bugs and the sidequests are there just to fill, but doesn't spoil the game.

    Es una joya, como fan de dragon ball adore cada minuto de juego, aunque las secundarias son un tanto infantiles y aburridas en su mayoría, las misiones principales son geniales y se puede disfrutar perfectamente y cada detalle de la saga, excelente juego, lo esperaba con muchas ansias y no me defraudó para nada

    De todos os jogos do Dragon ball, esse é o MELHOR. A jogabilidade é espetacular os gráficos são os mais bonitos de todos os jogos do Dragon ball. O mapa e lindo, com diversos inimigos e várias coisas acontecendo. O menu é todo organizado e bem fácil de navegar, sempre soube que se um RPG de Dragon ball seria épico. Vale cada centavo

    It looks an amazing game.. It reveals the DragonBall z saga with huge details and is an open rpg world which I dreamed to become true when I was young!!! I highly recommended this game for all dragonball fans

    Overall the game is quite fun for a casual db fan.But if your a die hard dragon ball fan like I am you'll find it one of the best dragon ball games and one that you've always wanted as a kid.

    This game was marketed as a JRPG fused with Dragonball. This game pulls it off & immerses you into the world of Dragonball Z. I'm enjoying every aspect of the game so far.

    Absolutely BEAUTIFUL GAME. The amount of detail and nostalgia DBZ Kakarot has is simply superb. From the interactions, to the music. I simply cannot put it down, I have gone back to certain scenarios just so I can explore or do a side mission.

    The Encyclopedia along with the Soul emblems left me mind-blown. The Menu graphics, the orchestra, the classic DBZ memorabilia, just WOW.    Absolutely BEAUTIFUL GAME.     This is the most beautiful Dragon Ball Z game I've ever played hands down. Brutal honesty here, this isn't technically "Open world" BUT!....DO NOT LET THAT FOOL YOU. This game's zones are absolutely gigantic. Beautiful voice acting, visuals are true to the anime, free roaming is just...ADDICTING. I spent 2 hours just flying around at level 3 with piccolo.     Awesome and fun gameplay, cool animations. Good amount of content thats not highlighted in the show or previous game. Yes its the same story, but done better then all of the previous games imo. If you love Dragon Ball, especially Z, then its a must buy, because even if the story is the same, you never played lt like DBZK.

    AMAZING GAME, Get to relive the dragon ball z experience! It has its flaws but it is still really fun as and interesting. There is so much to do and so much to explore!

    Get this game as soon as you can if you're a DBZ fan Who was waiting to live the Z adventure fully. Gameplay is great , visuals are pretty great , and the musics !!!

    This is a perfect example of a game that's for the fans of the series, you can see this when you compare the critic score to the user score.

    Fans like myself will love the instanced open world. While not open world, it is very close to that feeling and with seeing the world of the series I grew up with is awesome.

    Despite the numerous flaws, Kararot still offers a wonderful retelling of the main story, above-average graphics, and a great soundtrack, so it’s worth picking up for established and new fans of the series alike.

    A very few games can compare to Kakarot in terms of sheer love towards the original series and storytelling qualities. Not without its set of flaws that leave only regret not being even greater, Kakarot still manages to be a great game for fans. No, scratch that. It manages to be an amazing game! May they not stop here, and deliver more and more of love-letters like this. If it goes in the right direction, the next one could definitely be legendary.
