    Smooth, just as fun as PC, beautiful and plays incredibly well on the Dual Shock 4! The control scheme surprising works perfectly! 10/10! This game is the start of a line-up of indie games that had me choosing the PS4 over the XBone. You guy's over at Klei did a fantastic job when you made this game a reality! Sony you have helped make it an amazing console version that runs unbelievableSmooth, just as fun as PC, beautiful and plays incredibly well on the Dual Shock 4!     besides the somewhat clunky inventory system and lack of zoom out feature. its a solid port looks great and works great besides the inventory problem and a couple glitches.

    This is a really fun game that everyone should get. On account of it being free for Playstation Plus Members this game is well worth the price (ha get the joke?) Don't Starve is a very cartoony looking game that also has some survivor horror aspects.     Don't starve is a very addicting, mysterious, and haunting game. It has a very unique and charming look to it, and the gameplay is challenging and fun. I've put hours into it and I'm still hooked.

    I really hope Don't Starve Together makes its way to PS4! This game has a randomly-generated world so it never gets old. The only problem is that updates have to go through the ESRB on consoles, so it is updated much slower than the PC version.

    That said, there is a ton of content and updates already in this game! 9 out of 10 simply because there is missing multiplay at the time of this    I really hope Don't Starve Together makes its way to PS4!     It's okay. Kind of addictive and quite fun, but I miss the sense of purpose of playing it. Why am I doing it? There's practically no goal, which takes away from the point of playing games for me.

    This is a love it or hate it type of game. It's a completely unforgiving survival game. There's a MASIVE learning curve, and you'll die and start over dozens of times before you even establish a proper base for your character. You could play for 100 hours and still not get the hang of it. But once you do, It can be a very rewarding experience, as long as you have the patience.     This game is crazy-awesomely-difficult. It takes time to seriously learn how to survive in this game. The art and music are amazing and the overall aesthetic in the game is phenomenal. My GF and I have been playing this game all week and its the most played game on our PS4.     I had the experience on the PS4 Console rendition of the game, and I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed it. The first several times you play, you will find yourself solely learning the controls and basic principles of gameplay, which none are spelled out. This is not detrimental to the game, rather it is instrumental in setting up the atmosphere of the game.

    There are a few quirks. A lot of time was taken to make the game deep enough for decent replay value. The game may tend to get a little repetitive at times, but the gameplay itself is smooth enough to make the experience an enjoyable one. Some will hate it, some will love the challenge it presents. It is a game that will try patience.

    The game's inventory selections are not the best. The toolbars for inventory and crafting run in real time (more or less). The interaction seems to become frustrating after a while, especially once you have over 25 items and multiple places for storage. It is not something that hinders complete enjoyment of the game, but is cause for some slight frustration when you start to get time crunched later in the day cycle.

    As an experience of a game, I give the game a huge thumbs up. I would highly recommend the game to anyone looking for something new. The game is a breathe of fresh air in the overcrowded military shooter market of modern consoles and is an indie game well worth the price of admission.    … Expand

    I played this game because I was bored and it was free from PS+ so I figured why not, wasn't really expecting much. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that not only was the game fun and challenging but highly addictive. I started in sandbox mode and eventually played through all of adventure mode finishing the game.     When I picked up Don't Starve I had no idea what I was getting into! When the game starts they immediately throw you into it. with no instruction manual, you are forced to fend for yourself. This kind of was a lot of fun to play. there's a bit of a learning curve so don't be surprised if you die from time to time.
    definitely worth the $14 I spent on it

    Trial and error is a terribly frustrating experience for somebody trying to enjoy a videogame. This game deliberately does not have ANY tutorials whatsoever. You're lucky to get a screen showing what the buttons do. You have to learn everything the hard way, meaning by dying because of it and therefore restarting your game from scratch.

    Simple example: You die if night comes and you don't have a light source. Nowhere is this even hinted at. So EVERY SINGLE PLAYER will die on their first play as soon as night comes.

    And thats it, this is how this game works. You play, there'll be something new that wasnt explained, you'll die, now you know something new and you start over from scratch.

    Those will add up to hours and hours of precious life time just lost. For no purpose at all. Which brings me to the other fatal gripe that I have with the game. There is no ending. There is no reward. There are no credits. No satisfaction. THERE IS NO POINT. I don't feel like investing my time on anything thats not going to give me anything back.

    This extreme survival mode should have been just one of the gametypes offered in the game ALONG with a proper campaign that ends.

    I see a lot of people are actually praising the game for the very reasons I hated it. The only thing I can say to that is... Well, we all like different things :D    … Expand

Collect materials to craft tools and other thing that will ultimately help keep you alive. The layout of the HUD is nice and simple and it didn't take long for me to understand just how to survive.. You start off with nothing. You collect stuff and work day by day to survive. I haven't played much yet, My longest survival was 7 days so far. The enemies are all unique from giant spiders to long legged, one eye birds that will murder you if you take their eggs(earned that the hard way). There is no real story to speak of.
    There isn't to much more to say really. The game as a pretty dark mood to it. The gameplay is addictive, and the visual for this game are great. I wish it would go more n depth with the story though. The video at the beginning didn't make any sense. I look forward to playing this game a lot more.    … Expand

    Fantastic game, really nice to play something unique and its a nice break from the usual games I play. People voting it with 0's are just silly fanboys so please ignore that. I really recommend you give this game a try! Its relatively cheap on PSN or free for PS+ so no reason not to

    Quite a grim depressing atmosphere. Starting from scratch after each death made me feel like I was completely wasting my time. And introducing killer hounds just when things start to go well was the last straw. Quite an unsatisfying experience.

    Suggestions I have would be to allow some sort of save at some point (make it 7 days, 14 days, even a month, but something). Now I am sure many of you will say that this is what makes the game so great, that you have to be critical and precise with everything you do, but this aspect really kills it for me with replay value. I have no interest in spending the first hour or two over and over again finding and crafting the basics to return to where I was.

    If the graphics were not interesting and as they are the game would have received a 1. I really wanted to like this game, and did for the first few tries, but it quickly became boring a repetitious. I'll stick to something else for now.    … Expand

    I can see the appeal, but this game isn't for me, I find it boring and it has been done before. Making a fire and collecting items etc... Nothing special in my eyes. I don't have much to say about the game other than,, I don't find it very fun in the slightest..

At times you may need something simple and starve before you find it, then the very next map you are overloaded with it and short on something else. You spend quite a bit of time just trying to stay fed.

    I would like to say that this is one of my favorite survival games ever made to date, but I am not sure that is completely true. It is exceedingly well made and designed and ever so charming, but most of my interest in it was based on how deceiving the last of those aspects is. Like all games it has a few aspects that are different but they are few. As of this point in time the creations in the game are few, the creatures are few and the options are few. They have made winter for example into an impassable barrier for any who are not veterans and for me at least, it is unsatisfying to remove winter through editing the world. Overall the game has fantastic potential but at it's current stage (have not kept up with the updates lately) I am not overly riveted.… Expand

    A very well-made game with a great artwork. This game is one of the best survival games out there! The idea of having to survive by hunting animals for food, growing your own crops, avoiding or fighting monsters, and having to go through extreme weather conditions makes this game very complete in the area of survival games.     The graphics in this game are very unique. They remind me of a Tim Burton movie. The game in general is pretty cool and is something you will go back to and play often. This game reminded me of a better version of minecraft. Get this!

    Great game with a simple goal, survive. Don't Starve is incredibly fun and addicting to play. As you go on you learn more about how to play the game and each death leaves you wanting to get back into the game and keep playing.

    Fantastic game with a cool looking comic book style that runs just as well if not better on ps4 than it did on PC.

    Klei have included every update from the PC game day one on the ps4 version, to top it all off it you have fantastic remote play optimisation.

    I will go as far as to say its the best game currently on ps4.

    wrong, permadeath, no finding your corpse and looting it or going back to your house. When you die which is VERY easy due to clunky controls, you start over from level 1 with nothing. Like losing your last life on an NES game. After 10 hours of work over 3 days you will be right back where you started.

    This game has a LOT of potential, ruined by one fatal flaw. Although these purely random Toejam and earl style worlds are neat they are wildly disjointed, but that's the fun of taming them.

    Don't get to attached to your pet beefalo, you die, you can't go back to your last save you are DEAD and it auto saves it and you have nothing.

    I love the idea, would love a sequel, hell just an update to bring this game the feature we have all enjoyed since 1987's legend of Zelda.    … Expand

    It's ok for about half an hour and that is it. I really hope ps4 improves its ps plus. Painful going from 3 quality games for the ps3 to 1 sort of mini game on the ps4! You would never pay for this it's just a download play once then delete.

    what a let down. this game came out 5 months ago on PC, it's been easy to get for about $2.50 via trading on steam for AGES. on top of that it's nowhere near a next gen game. this could run on PS3 no problem...

    it's basically a bit better graphics than a flash game. the gameplay is ok, but like i said it's been old news for a while. this isn't really how to win customers over. pretty weak.

    Having read about this game late and all the comparisons to minecraft and terraria the whole time I spent playing Don't Starve I felt like this was my type of game - but unfortunately I just didn't find it very fun. It felt like something was missing to make the game complete for me. Lack of online leaderboards and cooperative play make gameplay feel meaningless.     This is the MOST repetitive game I have ever ever played.

    And the game has lots of annoying inconvenience. For example, you can only craft advanced items near a science machine, forcing you to build lots of machines over the map if you don't want to waste time traveling far back to a machine, but the trade-off is repeatedly picking and chopping materials for a new machine.     The map is unnecessarily big. What is worse is the map is randomly created each time, so for every new game, you have to waste lots of time to investigate where to go for certain materials. And there is no way for fast travel except those randomly set bug holes.

    The most annoying thing is storage. The portable bag storage is far from enough, so I always have to drop this for that, and when I need this, I have to recollect (of course you can remember the place you dropped the items then travel far back to re-pick them yet wasting time).
    The ridiculous is that the materials will never be rotten(never disappear on ground) and you cant move a chest, so the chest for extra storage totally doesn't make sense. Just think when you want something stored in a particular chest you have been very far from it, so what is difference between storing materials in chest and dropping them on ground?

    Most of time, I feel I am just doing the same thing again and again rather than the sense of progression.    … Expand

    This is a great little game. This is one for people who want to explore a world and try and survive. This is not a game for people who want their hands held as there are no instructions given. The only instruction is that you don't starve. If you are impatient and get annoyed easily then this game probably not for you. Me, I am finding this game very addictive.

    This game is well made but not for me. It feels like a job. A job where you feel like if you forgot to do one of the tedious tasks you will die. There is no end. So it is just you acquiring stuff to build other stuff for the eventual death that is coming. It is sadly like life. I rather play a game that doesn't remind my life is just about doing tedious tasks until my eventual death.

    The game it's self is more of a bad concept than a completed game. It feels like a beta for a very poor free to play mobile phone game. Luckily I got it free but even then if there was a way I could get a refund for the miserable 1 hour I put into this game I would claim it back.

    The gameplay is like a cruel twist on MineCraft. A bleak lifeless twist on MineCraft. The aim is to collect, craft and stay alive. Perma-Death occurs if you make a mistake and it's back to the begging of this awful game to carry on playing in the world which is as bland as cardboard.

    And that's it, nothing else to it. Anyone who is tricked into thinking this game has depth has been seriously fooled. The creator is laughing to the bank. As I cannot see this game taking anymore than a week to create.

    Avoid at all costs if you want gaming to progress. Rubbish like this is the thorn in the side of gaming and has stopped progression in recent years. So if you want gaming to continue in the future don't invest in games like this so the greedy creators will stop publishing and we can all get back to playing real games again.    … Expand

    While I didn't enjoy Don't Starve, there's nothing technically wrong with it in terms of graphics and gameplay. I can see how some people would enjoy it but I found it boring. It would make a great tablet game.

    All I need to do now is unlock Wes and Maxwell, Wes is near impossible to find. Only 0.1% of people have unlocked him. Ive been searching adventure mode for days now. And Maxwell, I think I can unlock but I want to find Wes first.

    Honestly, I seriously hope the developers for Don't Starve make another game as I would be one of the first people to download it.
    Great Game, and I think the people who are moaning about a small game like this need to realise that the PS4 is still a brand new console. We are not going to receive Assassins Creed 4 for free anytime soon. Please get a grip.

    People who don't understand this game and give it scores of 0, 1, etc., go play COD. This game is based on pure strategy and if you have the wits to survive the first three months then it becomes much easier. In the meantime, there are MANY tools to resurrect. Just build them. The game is a fresh breath among games that are only clones of one another. It's a 9 for me.

    This game its not for everyone.. not even me. Not fun at all. You die a lot but you never get that understanding or experience feeling like in Dark souls.
    Playing it feels like a chore, Its annoying, boring and frustrating. Got it for free with my PSN plus and I deleted it right away.

If I had a poor spawn point with low resources, you run around aimlessly until you luck-out or die. If the pressure was taken down a few notches, I think I could enjoy this title.     I understand the appeal, but I found it to be rather boring, was just a scavenging game with a basic 'Rinse, Lather, Repeat' type of play, constantly building fires and making axes. I don't like the fact that when you die you loose everything and I really didn't enjoy it overall.

    However the game is aesthetically pleasing and can be fun if it is to your taste, however it wasn't to mine

It's a game of addictive nothingness, an existential time suck that leaves you satisfied with what you've accomplished, but no closer to actually accomplishing anything.

    The flowery entry aside, the game is simply fun. The goal is, literally, don't starve. Build shelter, find food, set up a means of food production and find a way to not go insane alone in a dark and dangerous world. There's always something to do to help make your survival easier, or possible, as the game progresses and new challenges and enemies arise. You learn as you go, having to overcome obstacles on the fly and plan ahead as best you can to make sure you survive.

    There are a range of items to research in the games which will require you to collect increasingly more difficult to find materials. There are two main categories for your survival: hunger for which you try to create a sustainable source of food, and sanity for which you work to find ways to ward off loneliness and delusions by keeping yourself grounded or social (and by social I mean hanging around groups of pigmen). There is also a large world to explore (based on how you set the game to generate the world) with various biomes and materials.

    To go into more detail is to really ruin the fun of the game, learning and doing better each time. The game is roguelike, so when you die you start over from scratch when playing in sandbox mode, though there are ways to ensure you are revived when you die. Those means are rare and one time uses, but they do allow you to provide a safety valve so you won't lose all your hardwork on one mistake. Dying and having to start over can be frustrating, especially if you've built up an area for yourself and gathered a lot of resources, but each time I would say I can do better, I'm smarter this time, I've learned more tricks and I would delve back in.

    The graphics are stylistically excellent. I've always been one for cell shaded and hand drawn graphics. Anyone who has played Deathspank will be familiar with the hand drawn 2D/3D look to the game, though Don't Starve isn't nearly as bright and cheery, nor look quite as nice as Deathspank does. The sounds are basic, and mostly utilitarian to alert you to things happening in the game. There is no voice acting. This isn't a game you play for its presentation, though if you enjoy hand drawn graphics you will like the look.

    If you're looking for a game with an involved story and metered goals Don't Starve isn't for you. While there is a campaign mode of sorts in Don't Starve the sandbox mode is where the game shines, as the story mode is a series of smaller sandbox modes with additional challenges added in. Don't starve is about testing your ability to learn and plan for the worst. It's the video game equivalent of being thrown into the wild and told to survive. You create your own goals and your own plan for how best to accomplish that and work toward those self-made goals.

    If what I've described sounds appealing to you, then you will get a lot of mileage out of the game and it would be worth the purchase and I would recommend getting the Reign of Giants expansions as well. If it doesn't sound fun to you, then you'd be wasting your money. Don't Starve is definitely a niche game, but there's a lot to love if you're the right person.    … Expand

Heck, if you survive long enough and reach winter that itself has its own unique challenges.

    I really love that there are no tutorials, you just have to figure things out on your own, it makes the process more engaging this way, though it may be discouraging for some players who are used to being hand held.

    Brilliant game, fascinating gameplay, unique world design, addictive survival sim. I love this game, even as it punishes me by being rogue-like (not my personal favorite design choice, but essential for this game, and the game overcomes it even for me).

    I'm still too scared to risk living in the caves for long though...

    This game is fantastic. Beautiful art. The "no directions" design and leaving everything to discover makes a good game. Only lazy people or Intellectually poor don't like this game. The permadeath is fine, being punished for dying is good for a good game. If you don't like dying, better play Prince of persia 2008.

You just start off on a randomly generated world and you have to figure out what to do which i liked because i was using my brain instead of the game holding my hand through it. if you like survival games then pick this up its well worth the price of 11.99. I've had more fun with this game than i have with a lot of triple a titles.… Expand

    I sure am hungry. It is a good thing Don't Starve teaches me how to survive. Now this was a newly released game on the PS4 from the fine people at Klei Entertainment. This is unlike any of their games that I have seen. They made Shank 1 and 2, and also made Mark of the Ninja. Both of those games are side scrolling slashers.     Normally I would talk about the story but honestly I hardly know it. The thin plot this game is based around you playing a scientist named Wilson and this mysterious man drops you into this world, where everything is trying to kill you. I dig the antagonist named Maxwell (who is the mysterious man) because he looks like the old timey villains. This guy is dressed in a all black old west suit and has a handlebar mustache. It doesn't get more badass then that, sadly he is missing the top hat to go with it. Wilson has an attitude a lot like a gamer would playing a video game. If he sees someone who has died he will say "better him than me". If you attack a helpless creature the guy says one of my favorite lines "go for the eyes". Your protagonist is a bit crazy and the crazier he gets the funnier stuff he says. Side note people he doesn't speak any actual language, so everything is in Charlie Brown talk. Just a bunch of Wan wan wah wha. Thankfully they have the humorous text that go with the nonsense. I technically didn't beat the game so I can't tell you if there is a ending or if it is one of those play until you die games.

    The sound is really great in this game. It has some generic music, but the real sound is in the sound effects. Whether you are just walking around in the world or have a creature trying to kill you all the sounds are fantastic. There were times in the night (in the game) where you will hear something walking around but you can't see them, so it'd put you a bit on edge.

    The game graphically is nothing special. Now I like the character and monster design I don't see the need for this to come out on the PS4. The creature design is good and a bit creepy, I have to say the pig people creeped me out the most. The game has areas you visit just walking through the world and I have to say being this game has a day and night cycle there were some areas so ominous that I would only go there during the day.

    If you listen to the Bloody Screen Podcast you might have heard me describe this game as addictive. That is exactly what the gameplay of this game is addictive as **** Most people will die the first two times playing the game because this game doesn't tell you **** It is a learn as you go kind of game. Once you learn how to survive in the wild you feel like a bad ass mountain man. The thing I love about this game is every time you die you start over and the world is random generated. This open world is also completely blank on your map so you can't memorize where anything is located. You might be wondering how do you survive in the world Brandon? Well you must collect resources such as food, and building materials to make axes, spears, clothes, and most importantly fire. Seriously fire is your friend, especially at night. What will kill every new comer to this game is the night. When nighttime hits if you don't have fire you will die. The only thing to do really is to make a fire and sit there until it passes. Yes you do also need to eat in this game or else what it the point of surviving. Food isn't hard to come by fruit and veggies are plentiful, but if you get meat it will fill you quicker and longer. Combat is only able to happen if you have a spear. Believe me trying to use a axe will not end well for you new people. There is one mechanic I find quite cool it is the fact that you go crazy the longer you play the game. Now if you build a flower hat, you will stop the process. If you don't build one then Wilson will slowly fall into madness and you will start seeing shadowy figures around. I never went full crazy so I can't tell you if it is game over or not. Last thing I want to mention more as a tip, there is seasons and if you are well enough equipped in the winter you will freeze to death.

    Overall, there is a story part to the game aside from the open world. It has specific objectives but kind of a pain in the ass, plus you have to find it in the world to even start it. You can mess with the settings to make the game easier or harder and you have different characters you can play both with pros and cons to them. I can say it is a fun game and addictive when you first pick it up after three or four days you've seen what this game has to offer. This is free if you own a PS4 and have PlayStation Plus so if you have that you most likely have already played it. I say it is worth checking out on the console or the pc. I give this a 7. While the gameplay is fun after you see everything you have no real incentive to go back.    … Expand

    Ottimo survival, particolare e con un proprio stile. Non capisco la separazione del single/multiplayer in due giochi separati e la totale mancanza delle traduzioni che di certo non aiutano un novizio, già alla prese con un mondo non proprio ospitale

    This game is really special to me. I got it with the psn plus just after ps4 lunch. And I have played this game for hundreds of hours. It's amazingly fun. I suggest that you try to learn everything by yourself, you will die several times, but your learn a bit more about the game with every death.

    Don't Starve is a tremendously addictive game where the fight for the survival, mixed with exploring several places with its own magic, throw the player into searching every corner of the map. However, it is extremely hard from the very beginning, so there will be many players thinking twice before going on with their adventures.

    Probably not a game for everyone. The pace can at times be very low, and the developers could've thrown in more surprises. But it's a title that is hard to put down once you've gotten into it.
