    Right, I don't usually write reviews and this is just my personal opinion, but, this game is getting far too much hate.
    I never played DayZ on PC, as I am a console gamer (Let the hate flood in! Come at me brah!) and to be honest, if I did get back into PC gaming, I can see myself losing half my life to WoW.... Again.... So, no to PC. I bought DayZ for my ps4 pro as I    My first review.

    I bought DayZ for my ps4 pro as I loved the look of the world, just getting lost and surviving is always fun to me and this is exactly what this games brings, only with Friends (of which I have none, please help me!). Now, it is a buggy, glitched up mess at the minute. Looting is terrible and I agree, it NEVER should have been released in this state, but, there is something that this game has, that others miss. The constant dread, the interactions with other people (good and bad), that feeling you get when you find that one piece of gear. Sprinting away while thinking to yourself, nnnooooooo I can't die!!! My Gear!!!!! Games should be fun and you should be feeling like this.
    In this generation, everything is too easy. I mean, completing a game should feel like an achievement. Nowadays it is, if I can't complete it in 20 minutes, we go to the internet and bash the game. I feel this is what is happening here. Just log in and run around and have fun.
    I am sure they are working on fixing the game, let's just be patient. I can see where they will be going with this and I feel that it is going to be amazing.
    Please don't kill me in the comments. I am giving it a 6 due to the bugs and terrible release state, however, I feel it could rise to 8 or even a 9.

    This is definitely a polarizing game, depending on what you are looking for. Technically it does fall short in graphics, frame rates, etc. Experience wise, it has a wide open set of opportunities. I have poured hours upon hours gathering stories and events that have left me laughing, sweating, and even seconds away from a heart attack.     At first I loved it, the concept really appealed to me as I’m hugely into survival games especially in the zombie genre. I watched so many videos and read all the reviews and felt I knew what I was letting myself in for. I made the leap and got the game on psn for £27.
    Played a few hours on official and community servers and whilst I was enjoying the    I made an account to review this game.
    At first I loved it, the concept really appealed to me as I’m hugely into survival games especially in the zombie genre. I watched so many videos and read all the reviews and felt I knew what I was letting myself in for. I made the leap and got the game on psn for £27.
    Played a few hours on official and community servers and whilst I was enjoying the feel of the game, I died so many times due to illness, lack of food, water, players and zombies. The loot was a bit hit and miss, at one stage I had guns but no ammo, food but no decent clothes, all the above but no medicine and I would always die by the most annoying means.
    I decided to rent a sever to try and get a head start with some friends. Although the loot was there, the sickness would kill me consistently. (Loot is sporadic in type).
    You can edit the loot via Nitrado but not easily, essentially it’s like coding.

    After 5 days of playing on my own sever, the realisation hit that this game is pointless, empty, buggy and broken. Literally a snooze/death fest.
    I stopped my server and went back to higher populated severs to find that the boredom and pointlessness remained. Even with the interaction with other players, you never really get geared enough and advanced enough to compete (if like me you have a full time job and a family).
    To summarise, the concept is great and the graphics are ok yet the gameplay is abysmal.
    I give this one star for the fact that the first few hours are fun while you are learning.
    Do not pay full price or buy this digitally (like me). You are very likely to want to resell if you do purchase it. I’m out of pocket and feel hard done by. I am the target audience as this would have been right up my street but alas, it is what most gamers say-

    If this game worked as intended it would be a 10, the concept is amazing and playing with friends is what keeps me coming back. But you need extreme patience because the game is cutthroat. You can die in the blink of an eye and the bugs are a joke tbh. What developer cant program a car to drive properly without flipping in the air or exploding randomly.     This game should be called walking simulator. It's terrible! You walk, eat, maybe find a human after walking around and then die or fight them off. The game is laggy, **** in quality, and overall boring as all hell. The price of the game is a slap in the face.

    Unplayable... Worst game dont buy, lags screen cracks, can't pick things up zombies running through walls shooting a machinegun will lag so much you can't hit nothing. Still no update... 3 Months nothing... Amateurs

    I rated 1 for the idea, the rest worth nothing. lagging so impossible to see zombies sometimes. looks like a games from the 80's. server problems. day and night stupid idea when you can change server to find one when it is day time. so many changes have to be made , this game is still in an alpha state it should not be released yet.

    Absolute **** and way over priced . The game feels clunky and broken. It's almost impossible too find your friends on it the loot is terrible , the graphics are way outdated very laggy all in all don't buy it save your money for something better or when the games fixed an working right. I bought it an wish I never . Gonna try an get my money refunded cost me 67 dollars for a broken game

    Absolutely ridiculous this games was released in this state, let alone at $50. Playing on the PS4 Pro, it constantly has frame rate drops and screen lock ups. the inventory is not optimized for consoles and it gets irritating after a while. The servers are trash, this game is trash, wish i never bought it

    I played this for about 5 days and it is just bad. I died 2 times just walking from server lag. I died from opening a door and getting stuck in the wall. It only spawns you the beach where everything is looted so you have to run a hour inland to hopefully find anything worthwhile. The UI takes forever to do anything. Have stutters and frame drop when many zombies on screen, zombies still move in a janky fashion, sometimes glitch through doors and hit you, collision detection still a bit off. Didn't find 1 bag in 5hrs as 3 characters so the loot is still off. Feedback from the devs is like their attention to the game; they don't give a f*** as long as they take your £50. And worst of all, half the features of the pc variant that's £20 of so cheaper. Avoid like the plague, get your zombie fix from L4D developers Back 4 Blood when it comes. Avoid this trash fire at all costs, unless you want to be slapped in the face in exchange for £50, that's what it feels like. And Sony will do anything they can to not refund you for this broken lazy p*** take of a game. Bohemia interactive should be shunned.… Expand

    Way to buggy and outdated, and way to expensive. You'd be better of buying a much better battle royale game in Player Unkown's Battlegrounds for a fraction of the price. Even Fortnite and Apex Legends are multiple times better... and those 2 are free to play! Absolutely embarrassing from the developers. A shame too, because it used to be really good and enjoyable when it was just an ArmaWay to buggy and outdated, and way to expensive.     I don't understand how anybody can give this game 10/10 when clearly there are issues with it. Some of the graphics, such as inside buildings, are aweful and the frame rate can be pants. The game seems to have quite a number of bugs too. All that aside though....This game has something special going for it. When you've spent some time looting and you've got some decent clothing, weapons and equipment the last thing you want to do is die. And you can die very quickly in this game! But you can also have moments that you'd not get in other PS4 games. I've been in situations where I've be cautiously helping some stranger, maybe giving them food or water whilst at the same time half expecting them to pull a gun on me or try to stove my head in with a pick axe. The game has tension running all through it and I'm loving every second of it!… Expand

    A developer would have to be TRYING, to make a game this bad. The interface (even if it actually worked) is OFFICIALLY THE WORST. Whats really funny is how long Dayz has been out. Bohemia...be embarrassed. U dnt give any fs.

    Stay as far away from this cash grab as possible. The game is buggy and has some serious issues with its servers. The fact that they are charging money for this is absurd, given that I wouldn't even recommend playing if it was free. It looks horrible, it feels horrible to play, and half the time this broken mess isn't even playable.

    Fallout 76 is way better than this.

    It’s a little buggy but the gameplay itself more than makes up for it.

    If you’re into survival games with realistic game mechanics with an addition of pvevp than you’ll love this.

This is an online game so expect to watch yourself take damage from a zombie from a meter away. PVP is dull. I'm running through a forest or down a street and I die. I don't even hear the gunshots. I'm just dead. The thing is, I didn't care because this game feels like a walking simulator because of how uninvolved the survival aspect for your character is. You have to drink all the time so if you cant find water, eat some fruit. I just find myself looking for whatever bag or clothing can carry the most stuff and just hoarding loot.

    This game doesn't offer much of an incentive to move from town to town. If you find a water tap and a bunch of fruit, you've won. Just a long stick to take out a few zombies, clean water, some fruit and you can rest easy.

    The world is interesting. The game on PS4 Pro has serious performance issues. The game will freeze for a few seconds. Zooming in freezes the game for a few seconds. If you turn around, the textures have to load back in. I'm being chased by zombies, I don't know which building I can go in because they haven't loaded in yet.

    I think a better survival game is The Long Dark simply because you have something to work towards which is crafting better gear by hunting animals with resources you need to find around the world. With this game, it lacks that need to be working towards something useful. It lacks that survival aspect for your character that The Long Dark has. This game just feels like a walking simulator. You'll come across a city in the distance full of buildings and shops but you'll end up wasting your time going from one empty room to the next. If you're lucky, you might find a beanie.    … Expand

    I had low hopes for this game, but i had nothing better to do so i installed it. Don't regret it, it is a really good experience. The interactions in this game are interesting, people are unpredictable, and you never know what will happen if you interact with them, they could kill on sight, team up but then betray you. And i will say, there is some truth to the points tat the graphics are really bad, and the frame rate drops all the time. And that happens every now and then, but not often. Usually my game runs smooth as can be, but it can be a real pain when you lag out or your frame rate drops low. And yes, the loot can be stupid sometimes, sometimes i go into a town and all i find is clothes. But sometimes i find good **** and that pays off. So, if you are looking for a good game, this isn't a bad choice.… Expand

    I honestly loved the story of the game it wasn't the best like RDR2 or God of War even though those games had flaws of their own. Of course this game isn't perfect but no game is. I had a few frame issues it would be fine then it would drop some of the side missions feel repetitive but the main story is honestly a breath of fresh air even for a zombie (my opinion). I really hope this gameI honestly loved the story of the game it wasn't the best like RDR2 or God of War even though those games had flaws of their own. Of course this game isn't perfect but no game is. I had a few frame issues it would be fine then it would drop some of the side missions feel repetitive but the main story is honestly a breath of fresh air even for a zombie (my opinion). Incredibly unreliable, for example, I spent three days looting up, got into a fight with a zombie which are very easy to kill, game froze, lost everything. We can sit here all day bringing up the endless bugs and glitches that riddle and writh throughout dayz, but we won't, because this game is not worth the time. Save your money, or make a better purchase. All this game is going to do, is piss you off.… Expand

    Way better than its given credit for. Pretty impressive running on console, really impressive graphics and sound design, poor framerates when around lots of player built structures and spawned items.

    No other game on consoles really compares.

    Giving it a one because it's a decent walking simulator if that's your thing. The first few hours are unlike anything thanks to the whole vibe of the game. Other than that it's really bad. Rather Get Minecraft.

    I avoided this version due to the poor reviews,but after see that update 1.14 had added 60fps for PS5 users, i bit the bullet,its still a bit janky but ive been really enjoying playing it,so if you have a PS5, give it another go..

You have to go to the nearest civilization for the supplies that are oh so scarce. It's not made for a player who wants to be into constant action, that's why you won't see another player within the first hour or so to help you get to understand the basics of the game. Unlike other open-world games, you don't have a map to help you get around so if you're a new player you'll be confused as to where you're are. Unless you're a big fan of hardcore games you'll stray away and feel that the game is boring, because it is. It's boring because there isn't any constant action that most AAA games offer, the original map is around 87 square miles in size, the cities are miles apart if you try to pass through the forests, not enough players per map, not enough overpowered guns, graphics are so very dated, and the engine isn't optimized for the non-modding players and console players. Thankfully there will be map design for the console server owners, more guns added, bug fixes, DLC to help fund these updates. Going back to the gameplay, you'll spend hours walking and finding loot to start feeling safe and the more you play the more you understand about the game. I spent a good 10 hours playing the game feeling that I was in my own little shell, trying to survive, meeting new players and friends. I felt at peace when playing this game because the atmosphere made me feel that I was there surviving and alone. Alone with my own thoughts and made me forget about everything around me.

    Functionally, it's one of the most complex games we have seen in quite some time. I only know about 100 of the small details, but there are so many more. There are three diseases where only two can be cured by antibiotics, different ways to get fresh water, different ways to cook food with their own benefits and drawbacks, heat detection based on what you're wearing and what you're holding, damage to what you're wearing depending on where you get hit, weight is fairly balanced and you always have a way to run, loot spawns where you'll think they spawn, and overall you just need to use your real-world knowledge to work the game.

    What is still a hated part of the game is the base building and car repairing. The base building can take real-life days to complete on dedicated servers and with the weekly wipes, you'll be forced to just server jump to keep your loot pile safe. Car repairing takes too long for the return that it gives. Parts are found in random locations around the map, contradicting my point earlier, and are extremely tedious to repair. Zombies are the most underwhelming part of the game because they could be expanded upon. Possibly be used a food source if cooked well enough and you'll get the cannibal disease when you eat it. Or carry more valuable loot when in larger cities, possibly making an in-game economy with small doses of cash and making some new paths people can take like zombie clearing and zombie cooking? I don't know. But as of right now, the core gameplay is still tedious but crafted for a single audience.

    Overall, DayZ could be the best multiplayer experience if they properly implemented new ideas to the table instead of trying to perfectly balance the game with small and tiny updates every month that don't change the gameplay all that much. Bohemia Interactive's DayZ dev team are, however, working on modding for consoles and privately owned servers. So we might see the dedicated servers be irrelevant as we see servers with more to them and a more casual appeal. I really want DayZ to be the best experience that it can be, but the dev team are too focused on old things that shouldn't be focused on instead of new features that change the game to be better for more people to enjoy.    … Expand

    There are bugs, but I see them as the price to pay for the experience you get, which is brilliant. I play v. 1.10.
    You will need to spend a few dayz on it to understand how it works.

    For starters the game is atrociously optimized. Frame drops galore, the world taking up to 30 seconds to load up, insane amounts of lag, random crashes and disconnects, awkward menu controls that are really awful if you are in the heat of combat (hell it takes up to 40 seconds just to reload your gun if you don't have many magazines), and the bugs, my god, the bugs. There is a barrage of glitches, like not being able to pick up items, falling through the map, getting stuck on doors, buggy melee combat, getting stuck on zombies, broken hit registration, and inventory bugs.

    Even if you get past most of these issues, the game is still practically impossible to play anyway because every server has been looted to high hell. I can't tell you just how many times my character has died of hunger because there is never any food, or any other supplies to help me get anywhere. How does the game expect you to make any progress when you can't get the supplies you need to survive? It's hard just trying to survive for more than 20 minutes because of this and it is just aggravating.

    You drop into a server, there's no loot anywhere, so then you just run around for 20-30 minutes not finding a goddamn thing and then you'll die of starvation. Unless if you partner up with someone to help you, but considering how valuable loot is in this game and the nature of the game itself, everyone just kills each other on sight. There is no such thing as teamwork unless if you play with friends. I've went into at least 30 different servers and I'm always in the same scenario. And speaking of playing with friends, there is no map screen to help you navigate. I understand this is supposed to be a survival game, but if you are a new player, how in the holy mother of **** are you supposed to know where you are at all times? Especially since the map is incredibly big, too big for its own good. You'll just be wandering around aimlessly like a cockroach without its head. I get that learning the map might seem appealing, but without such basic gameplay features to help you navigate, how are you supposed to meet up with your friends?? God, this game just punishes new players and discourages working with others. Oh right, I have to download a goddamn mobile app that gives me a real life map when it could have just been provided in the game itself, and I need it because all of the text is in Russian and I can't read it, rather than just having the text pop up on screen in English when I reach said town. Joyful..

    And the servers take up to 45 days to refresh the loot drops, which is WAY too long. By the time it's been a week or two, all the servers will have been looted and nothing can ever be found aside from clothing items. Rinse and repeat.

    You can rent your own private servers for a monthly fee, I believe it's $18. So players are expected to pay more money on top of a game they already payed $50 for just so they can actually PLAY the game?? Go to hell.

    So overall this game is the equivalent of highway robbery. Why Sony approved of the sale of this game on their store is one thing, but the fact that it's a port of a PC game from 6 years ago that's being sold for $50 when it's clearly not finished is just insulting. It is truly disgusting and thinking about it makes me nauseous. The game has a great concept but is executed in the worst ways possible. I have better chances of surviving a zombie apocalypse in real life and spotting a group of UFOs in the process. It is awe inspiring just how poorly programmed and incompetently designed this game is, it's giving me Fallout 76 deja vu.    … Expand

    New update was 9gb of dlc, a new map which you have to pay for. It didn't fix game breaking long standing bugs and it even introduced some new ones.
    This game is unplayable and it should not be on sale.
    It's a money making scam and the developers/publishers ought to be ashamed of themselves.

I deleted this game seconds after downloading it. You may aswell just rip up £40 when you buy this game, I never ever ever want to see this game again!!!

    I enjoy this game. It always feel new when I play this. Now the game has it faults. 1, sometimes when you try to pick up something even if you have the room in the inventory so I always have to restart. 2 inventory needs to be easier its a bit frustrating to look for something and then you're dead (happen to me a few times).All in all I enjoy playing.

    I went into the game not expecting an immersive, jaw dropping survival experience, but a relatively enjoyable, possibly infuriating time of trying to find my friends. Nothing could have prepared me for the barrage of getting stuck on doors, beaten by zombies I was unable to hit back, and being afflicted by status effects that were accompanied by zero explanation.

    The game would not be bad if it were not for the players who kill the unarmed for fun. In fact, at the very beginning of the game, you will not even be allowed to make a fire or grow something in the garden. A complete disappointment. Wasted money. Worst purchase of my life.

I hear no howling and then 6 methed out wolves chase me down south of Krasno as I frantically pump epis and look for anything to jump on top of, or a building to hide in....     At the start the I liked the game but it was not really worth it. Then they release an update that makes your hunger consume faster and ever since then I despise the game. I don't know if it is any better now but there was no food or loot in the beginning houses because of fresh players spawns and spawn timers so 70% of the time I starve to death or die of dehydration. Last time I played I would be stuck in a gameplay loop of getting something to break stone down, making a stone knife out of it, using the stone knife to cut up random cloths to get cloth, using that cloth to make rope, using the stone knife to cut up a bush to get a long stick, putting together the long stick and rope together to make a fishing rod, using my stone knife to kill a chicken, harvesting the chicken for bone, turning the bone into a bone hook, using the bone hook and fish rod to catch fish, burning the fish on a campfire, then eating the fish for food. I cannot leave spawn because I'll run out of food or water and on top of that I may not find a chicken or something to breakdown stone with to even get a supply of food. Before the hunger nerf you would be able to run all the way up to the end of the map before you would start experiencing hunger and dehydration.… Expand

    It's a walking simulator. The map is way too big for no reason. Zombies are absolutely useless and the game isn't about the zombies but the predictable player interactions, they always end the same. It runs like spoiled dog water. I've played a game called ApocZ on Xbox 360 that cost ONE DOLLAR and it was miles better than this. Avoid at all cost.

    Just about every aspect of DayZ is in dire need of some degree of polish, however, if you persist (and you should) a deep and ultimately ingenious title lay underneath that places a premium on player-made stories. All the same be aware that in its current state, it will take a remarkable degree of patience to get that most from DayZ - such quantities that more than a few folk simply won't have.
