Wonderful game, deserves more attention. Not just a Hades clone. Very cool art style, combat feels polished, and the curse system feels mostly balanced. Overall well worth the price.

If you like these type of games and are up for a challenge this game is a must buy. Combat, Art design, music, weapons and level design everything is well made and hand crafted. If you liked hades you will love this. Expand

Good game, gameplay is on par with Hades. Unfortunately all the rest (story, repetition, longevity) is not on that level. In the end, every new stage is the same as the previous one with just buffed versions of the same enemies. And once in hard mode you can do it all again from scratch, I did expect a bit more creativity there. But I did enjoy my run with the game in general

This is not Hades! This game will get a lot of negative reviews from people that expected the casual experience and the mirror-upgrade + story loop of Hades.

The core game play of Curse of the Dead Gods is much deeper, but it doesn't have story content or that many rougue-lite elements. You have to improve your skills instead of mirror upgrades in this game - it's much more skill based

The core game play of Curse of the Dead Gods is much deeper, but it doesn't have story content or that many rougue-lite elements. You have to improve your skills instead of mirror upgrades in this game - it's much more skill based and if you know how to play and how to handle the controls and enemy attack patterns you could easily win without any permanent upgrades.

If you're looking for a great rogue-lite dungeon crawler with game play focus instead of Hades 2.0, you can't go wrong.

As a fan of roguelikes, I was slightly dissapointed with this game. It borrows elements of great games like Hades, Slay the Spire, and the similarly meh Dead Cells. Fun for a few hours but does not fulfill the expected replayability standard of a roguelike. Expand

This is a hardcore gamers game and it's a very wise decision that it has no story. I say this because in this game, like chess, dark souls, or card games the gameplay is the star and having a story would trivialize it. Its gameplay would have to be sacrificed. If I weigh in on the Hades vs Curses of the dead gods debate im all over this game for its challenge and replay ability. If I weigh in on the Hades vs Curses of the dead gods debate im all over this game for its challenge and replay ability. Every aspect of the game works. I checked out Hades and it looks fun but no way am I succumbing to the story and characters. From my perspective the characters and story degrade that game heavily or is suitable to casual gamers only willing to play it once. I see Curse of the dead gods strength that it's omitting having to put myself through some torturous half cheesy half mandatory narrative. What I like about this game is it's absolutely phenomenally balanced gameplay. Every decision you make whether by upgrades or by action has a meaningful consequence that imparts your success or failure. You basically are doing dungeon runs with about 10 rooms ending in a final boss. The rooms have various gameplay decisions to make each offering a reward such as replenishing life, getting a weapon upgrade or getting stat boosts ect ect. Each room is randomly generated so traps and locations of enemies will feel varied each dungeon run. When you fail there are new strategies to try again. What is here for its size of game is phenomenal. Controls are tight and you will be challenged by the combat. The risk reward system is perfect. As you move from each dungeon room, and also being hit by corruption blasts from enemies you accumulate curses which mostly hinder your gameplay but also introduce new options to your gameplay style. The game is super fun and very addicting and despite the small size the game appears it does not get repetitive because the weapons are so balanced trying new weapons and weighing new strategies always felt addictive. The game could only made better by being larger. Hopefully an expanded sequel with more bells and whistles makes this a series we can all look forward to. Expand

Great little roguelike that is actually on par with hades in a lot of ways. Great progression into mechanically hard gameplay segments later on in the game, and addicting. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. When I first started this game, I was pretty amazed about how fun and smooth it was. The combat feels quite good and the Rogue-Lite aspects are well done. However, the more I played, the more I realized the game was repetitive and lacked inspiration. When I reached the 3rd tier of the pyramid, I was pretty disappointed about how they recycled the previous bosses....but I know, this is part of this category of games I guess...For the graphics department, it is really dark and really really basic....The game is not bad by any means...I had a lot of fun for the first 12-15 hours but I quickly lost my interest afterwards...Maybe, this game is a better fit for Rogue-Lite fans. Honestly, I would go in this game not expecting Hades. While that is an amazing title, this game is JUST as good. While the story is pretty much non existent in Curse of the Gods, it makes up for it with it's fantastic gameplay loop. This game requires skill, patience and the art design is brilliant too! great game,
I thought it was a clone of hades, but it wasn't
Because you have to be more careful than hades.
It feels like a mix of soullike and slay the spire

Curse of the Dead Gods is certainly not a perfect or top-of-the-range title, but it is a production of those tasty ones, which with intelligence, application and good ideas prove to be able to go beyond their natural limits.

This is no Hades but if you like to die a lot, you’ll love it anyway. The innovative curse system is a lot of unpredictable fun, every single run is different and, what’s more, it all looks really pretty.

Curse of the Dead Gods is one of the most varied and gripping roguelikes that I've ever played so if you enjoy challenging combat with a wide variety of melee and ranged weaponry set in a dark and eerie game world then you'll love what it has in store.
