This game assumes you'll jump in for quick little 20-minute sessions daily. Except all in all it takes around 4,5 minutes to load from the ps4 menu to the island itself. It also stutters quite a lot.

So it might be a cute little mobile game on other platforms but as a PS4 port, it is a disaster.

If you are looking for a slightly more adult version of Animal Crossing with less to do and much less of a time commitment than you will enjoy this game. The graphic style is good, and the humor, is at times, very welcome. For our full review listen to the SWITCHITUPSHOW with Seth and Glenn anywhere you can find a podcast.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I came to this game after playing ACNH a ridiculous amount. I enjoy the unfolding island and the fact that there is a story, it makes a big difference between the two games. While repetitive, the music is soothing and calm and doesn't get on my nerves. Play sessions can also be incredibly short because only so much can happen in any given day. If youre looking for a relaxing change of pace that is less consumer driven than ACNH give this game a chance, you will be pleasantly surprised. Expand

Although the game can be found on home consoles, it’s really a better fit for the phone and Switch platforms that it also appears on. It was fun at first to treat the game as a sort of gaming digestif, enjoyed after an evening of shooting things in other games to wind down peacefully before bed. However, the inventory bloat and crafting complexity quickly began eating into the relaxation time as more and more time was spent sorting through quests, recipes, and inventory to figure out which items you needed to collect that night. Soon, relaxing with Cozy Grove simply becomes too much work.

Cozy Grove is designed to be played a little each day, which makes it perfect to have on hand for while other things download or the in-between times when you can’t commit to something longer. You’ll want to keep coming back for your daily dose of quirky, calming fun, as the blend of wholesomeness and gallows humour, distinctive style, and solidly expansive content make it satisfying and wonderfully moreish. Cozy Grove accomplishes what it sets out to do. That is, to provide a charming respite from the troubles of the world. The addicting loop of the island will keep me coming back, even if I don't necessarily love all aspects of the title.
